The Food is good; but I can't say the same for the service; I left a $2 tip for a $10 breakfast on the table and my waitress rang me up at the counter where I paid by CC. as I was walking out she yelled out..."NO TIP???". that was very unprofessional and I had half a mind to go back and tell her it was on the table, but I was too angry and didn't want to get in a confrontation. Me and my husband went and had breakfast at Mom's Kitchen. It was my first time the service was warming our server Nellie Rowder was kind and very helpful. Also brought a smile on our faces. I was in the mood for Eggs Benedict so decided to try this little diner out. I am generally a fan of little diners over the higher end places when it comes to breakfast. Sadly, they only have Eggs Benedict on Saturdays and Sundays. After hearing some discussion about the pancakes from a neighboring table it appeared this would be the next option for me and I settled on the pancake, eggs, and bacon breakfast. When the waitress took my order she asked me what kind of toast I wanted with the breakfast. I was a little puzzled being the menu explicitly said it did not come with toast and I stated that to her to make sure there was not any confusion. She assured me that it did come with toast and I trusted that she was the expert. My breakfast came out pretty quick, but there was not a pancake. When I pointed this out, the waitress insisted that I did not order one. Not only did I say what I wanted, but I pointed to it on the menu. After she denied what I ordered again, I asked for a menu to ensure I did not point to the wrong thing. Sure enough, what I pointed to was the pancake, egg, and bacon breakfast. She continued to disagree that I ordered that even saying it does not include toast at which point I let her know that was why I mentioned it didn't come with toast and she insisted it did when I ordered. At that point she offered to add a pancake, but I was so aggravated that she chose to argue about what I ordered instead of fixing the issue (even if I was wrong, that should have been the coarse of action) I told her the breakfast I had was fine. She came back later to check on me and again offered to add a pancake, this time including the offer of not charging me for the toast. Really? The food was fantastic. The hash browns were nice and crispy, not greasy at all. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy as requested. The bacon wasn't two little pieces that looked like they came from a starving cow, but a pile of thicker bacon with great flavor. This is a solid breakfast spot!!! The waitress that rung me up was super friendly. After she rung me up I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service. She offered to let me talk to the manager and I declined letting her know that I trusted she would pass on my thoughts. The breakfast is totally 5 stars. The waitress wasn't even worth 1 star. The other waitress that cashed me out gave me hope that the service was not typically like what I received so I will keep going back as this may now be my favorite breakfast place (we will see how the Benedict rates.) Prices are good. My meal was about $7 which looked liked about the typical price range for breakfast. Decor is an old style diner. I went here last Saturday and had the BEST eggs benedict that I have ever had. Plenty of hollandaise sauce (enough to smother your hash browns with) along with two eggs sitting on top of a whole piece of ham..delicious! So disappointed. My husband & I were looking forward to breakfast here. We waited 45 mins to get our food, while we watched the family of 4 that was seated 30 seconds before us not only order, but eat, pay, leave and have another family seated at their table. Once we finally got our meals they were both cold & over cooked. I will say the owner/manager said she'd take care of our check...but, we took 2 bites & left because it was NOT GOOD at all. Eggs were discolored & our plates were just filled with grease. From the run down appearance I was expecting good and cheap but it was gross and expensive. We could not eat our hash browns because they had a buttery instant potato flavor. There's a reason I guess. The waitress who has waited on me before was very surly, I gave that a pass. The food, not good. Veggie omelets way overcooked and tough, not tasty, hash browns greasy, home fries cold. Coffee was incredibly weak. Toast drowned in margarine to the point it was very unappetizing. I will never return to this place. I was with my kids and we ordered biscuits and gravy and eggs. The waitress kept telling us our food would be out soon. The table behind us received their food, ate, paid and left before the waitress came back and said our food was next. Went here on a Sunday morning. It was super crowded and I had a little bit of a wait for a table. I also had quite a wait for my food. But the food was really good. I had the chicken-fried steak and eggs. The steak was ginormous and smothered in tasty gravy. It was fork tender and just melted in your mouth. I also got the fried potatoes which were a surprise. They were crispy little chips that you could eat with your fingers. Also had wheat toast to go with it all and was happy to see high quality bread, most diners treat the toast as an after-thought. Love this place. My girlfriend and I always look for amazing diners. This is an amazing diner. They certainly don't skimp on the portions. Only one time did I have a sub-par order delivered. They quickly made it right! I don't know her name, but the server we always have always has a long pony tail. She's fantastic! My girlfriend last time ordered the chicken fried chicken. We went here because it had a 4 star with Yelp. Boy were we greatly disappointed. First off, it was dirty, Fly's in the window seal, spider webs in between the booths, dried milk on the wall in the booth area...... Our omelets were over cooked and who uses cheep american cheese slices on a omelet anyway? The kids menu was overpriced and to much food for being a kids menu, yes it was a lot of food but, a four year old can't eat a full size pancake, three eggs and two pieces of tough bacon. Hint, make it a real kids menue! The coffee was terrible and the hot water for tea was only warm. Service was good. Although there was only one other table of customers in the joint at 7am. Interesting Breakfast place run by a family (non franchised)!. Food quality was good and service was excellent. No wait lines, quick service, no hurry by hosts to get you to finish breakfast (and make room for next one) and most importantly a small hometown feeling. Always love to find hidden local gems. This family owned restaurant is worth visiting though it's little off route. Lots of regular walk in customers ordering food without even looking at menu and hosts knowing their names seems like a good sign. I'll be visiting the place again when in the neighborhood. Hadn't been to Mom's in over 20 years. Back in Olathe for family. Walked in and felt right at home. Friendly attentive service, fantastic Chicken Fried steak and fried potatoes like I want them. He told the woman at the cash register and her comment was "oh, I know! We had Orkin out a couple of days ago so they are all probably running". I've lived in Olathe and ate at this restaurant for 16 years and have never experienced anything like I need today. An order of hash browns was supposed to have been taken off of our ticket. The alphabetical part was scratched off but the dollar amount was not. When we went to check out, the hash browns were not taken off so we questioned it. Rather than cancel the entire order and do it again, it was asked if they could just give me the difference back in cash. I agreed before I realized they were going to make the waitress pay for it out of her tip money. What type of tyrannical management is at this place of business. Has this little mom and pop restaurant really came to this. I will never take my business back to this kind of place. There is a restaurant just good about a 1/2 mile West of here. They will be getting my business from now on. My co-workers Assisted will also hear about this and I hope they go else where as well. read more

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for more than 3 years due to be living two blocks away from this location, however we moved to a new place 6 months ago so this past saturday 25th of April we decided to go and have brunch. It was 12:15 when we arrived as usual we got a table (before it was just my wife a 3 year old and me) but this time we had a 5 month old with us... so we got one table that was all the way to the back it woud it be perfect but having a baby sleeping in his carseat we coudnt accomodate in that corner so we asked to one of the ladies at the entrance if it was possible to take one booth that was right in the opposite side, they said of course go ahead.... well we were trying to fit the carseat on the booth when the waitress serving in that area at that time gave us a really bad look.... we knew she wasnt happy for us moving there so my wife told her sorry we are moving here we asked the lady at the front and she said it was ok... well she look at us and said in a rude way... WELL I JUST CLEANED THAT TABLE TWICE ALREADY, BUT WHATEVER... well my wife got upset and told her AGAIN we asked and they said is fine.... So she keep giving us that bad look and said again.. WHATEVER I DONT CARE BUT JUST SO YOU KNOW.... YOUR FOOD IS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE 'CAUSE FIRST I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF MY COSTUMERS and she pointed to some people behind that table. We said OK, no problem and moved to the original table but we were so hungry and mad we coudnt believe how bad this lady was so we decided to walk away and go to another place. When we were leaving the place our original waitress was coming with our water, we didnt want to say anything to her because we were mad, my wife just said sorry we decided to leave and we walked away, we love this place the food is great and the environment make us fell like home but we hate when people doesn't know how to treat costumers. I was looking for an email adress or something in their website to put my complain, I want to know what manager thinks about this service but i coudnt find any so thats why i decided to post it here. I dont know if this lady was new and i coudnt see her name but if you ask around about the family that walk away really upset you will probably find out who this lady was, I hope manager sees this and teach your people to be nice to the costumers.
