This was my first time at Mom's Dumpling. The dumplings were delicious and tasted fresh. I ordered the cuttle fish/pork dumplings and the zucchini/shrimp dumplings. All dumplings were very moist and tasted fresh. The wrapper of the dumpling was light, chewy, and the perfect thickness. Ordering food is accomplished through using your own phone by scanning the QR code on the table. I've been to a few dumpling restaurants in Davis and Mom's Dumpling had the most unique and best tasting dumplings. Service was good as the workers were friendly.

Im rating this pretty critically since its a dumpling restaurant, and I had every dumpling store in davis atleast 5 times each. This place would be a contender to yangkee if it wasnt for the dough. I think the filling is 5 stars, but the dough is a problem. It lacks structure and it isn't kneaded so it falls apart easily. I am hoping this issue can be fixed because it would elevate this place to atleast a 4.5 stars. The base feels more like a cracker than a thin crisp you look for in traditional dumplings. Great filling though, I will look forward to trying this place in the future again.

I wasn't expecting these dumplings to be THIS GOOD. Got the triple delight which is pork shrimp and chive. You can't taste the chive and it's fantastic. You can tell there's a lot of shrimp, the portion is good for the price, there's the crispy part. I prefer this dumpling spot to the one just across the street because the flavor was PERFECT. Salt was perfect, it was flavorful, and it was still super juicy. Service was super nice and the inside is tiny but cute.

We really liked this small restaurant. Dumplings were fresh, service was prompt and helpful. You scan a QR code to order-very easy to do it. Food came quickly. We ordered spicy cucumbers, edamame, tofu with cilantro-these were all cold dishes. Also ordered black pepper beef dumplings, pork and chives dumplings and mixed vegetables dumplings. Our only request would be to mention somewhere that the pan fried mixed vegetables dumplings contain egg in the lacy fried pancake thing. Or have an option of having steamed mixed vegetables dumplings. Food was fresh and came very quickly to the table. We definitely recommend it.

This is the place to go if you like dumplings. All their dumplings are made from scratch, and ALL of them are fantastic. I went here yesterday with my mom, and we never go out to eat (maybe twice a month max) and since we tried this place, Mom's Dumplings has consistently earned its spot as one of the restaurants out of 2 max we go to each month. I don't think I could think more highly of their dumplings then I already do, they really are just fantastic!

went here when it just opened, we were the only people in here and ordered just these dumplings. it took about 45min to an hour for it to come out. they said a machine broke, yet were still serving food to the other customers... it felt like they treated customers who spoke chinese better than those who didn't...

Zucchini egg and shrimp. My favorite at this place! Don't get too much. I want some leftover for me after class. Thanks.

I am 1/4 Jiaodong blood and I 1000% recommend this place. (My grandma from Jiaodong peninsula.) Highly recommend the mackerel dumplings and zucchini shrimp and egg. They are authentic and tasty! The seafood dumplings tastes exactly like what my grandma would feed me. In short it tastes like home. How many seafood dumplings have you seen? Not quite often I suppose. Exactly! Because it is unique specials around Shandong province in China! I have been revisiting this place at least 5 times already since I found out they are here in the past 2 months. Great snacks like Garlic Crispy tofu. Service here is beyond expectation! Answered a lot of my requests! Constantly have newbies to try and they are ALL great!

Dumplings were literally bursting with so much juice!! Very delicious. We ordered the chicken wings, pork and chive dumplings and the triple delight pan fried dumplings. Everything was so good we devoured it immediately. Great and quick service. Will come here again if I'm craving dumplings. Next time I want to try the xiao long bao but they were sold out.

Yang Kee Dumpling is located in a small strip mall, equipped with plenty of parking, and EV chargers. When arrived it wasn't too busy, and the hostess showed me to my table. In front of my table was where the staff was making dumplings (they were behind glass). After looking at the menu, I opted to get some traditional soup dumplings, bbq pork fried rice, and pineapple bao buns for dessert. My server was Bing and she was nice and efficient. She came back to check on me a few times throughout my dining experience. My fried rice came out first. It was a LARGE serving of fried rice, it of course had eggs, carrots, peas, and BBQ pork. It was flavorful. Next came out the soup dumplings. They were brought out in a steamer basket with a top to keep them warm. These were amazing. The light and delicate dough, mixed with the savory pork filling, and the salty broth was perfection. Next came out my pineapple bao buns. To be honest, I wasn't sure how I was going to like them. To my surprise these may have been the star of the show. The dough was light and sweet, the top was carmelized and sweet, and the custard inside reminded me of a Dole Whip from disney (exept it wasn't cold, it was warm). These were pretty large and I'm semi embarrassed to admint I had 2 3/4 bao buns myself. Go here. It's delicious.

We were both pretty hungry afterwards and weren't sure what places were open, or what we wanted to eat. We decided to drive around downtown Davis just to get a sense of what was open, and saw that Tasty Kitchen was bustling. We had never eaten there before, but as it was pretty much our only option besides fast food (which I did not want), we decided to try them out and have a good Thanksgiving dinner. I took a quick browse at their Yelp reviews before heading in, and the food looked pretty good, so I figured why not. Since we had come pretty much on a whim (I usually heavily research restaurants before trying new places), we weren't quite sure what to order, but I knew I wanted some carbs. We wanted to share a fried rice, so we chose the dried scallop and egg white fried rice. My husband was eyeing the beef stew lo mein, and I was eager to try the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. We were seated quickly and given hot tea to enjoy. It had been a cold day, so the tea was very welcome. We placed our order and then sat back to people watch while we waited. There were a few large groups dining in, but while watching the staff, they all worked efficiently, and food was constantly coming out of the kitchen. Delivery drivers and those who called in for takeout were also coming and going. We waited a while for our food, but it was also because everyone seemed to have ordered at the same time for the dinner rush (and we had come around 17:45 too). I guess everyone was feeling like an early Thanksgiving dinner. We were honestly amazed by the huge portion sizes when our dishes arrived to our table. Everything was reasonably priced as well, and we knew we would have plenty of leftovers. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was delightfully saucy, and the noodles still had a nice wok hay. The beef was extremely velvety and tender. My husband enjoyed his beef stew lo mein. The egg noodles were perfectly bouncy, and the braised beef was tender. The dried scallop egg white fried rice was pretty good as well. I had hoped for a bit more wok hay and scallop flavor, but it was a little under seasoned. I would say it was a nice palette cleanser if you will, and at least the rice was nice and fluffy. I would have to say that the food here is comforting and hearty, but it didn't have as much depth of flavor as I would have liked. However, you really get your money's worth when you come here. It was $49 for everything before tip, and we had so many leftovers to take home. Our waiter even took our plates and packaged them to go for us, so that was a nice touch. I'm used to packaging my own leftovers these days. There's something for everyone at this restaurant, and I would like to be back to try some of their other dishes. Another table across from us ordered the Mongolian beef, which came on a sizzling platter, and that smelled so good. That will definitely be a contender next time we visit. I'm definitely thankful that Tasty Kitchen was open on Thanksgiving, and will keep this restaurant in our rotation for a holiday meal.

My husband and I came here after lunch and ordered two sauce, fried rice, a spicy, braised beef dish, and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). I was so excited to eat the fried rice and it tasted exactly like what I imagined it to taste like. I don't typically like really starchy, thick sauces, but that was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know, it's not like it's anything super special or a crazy amazing delicious dish, it's just a nostalgic taste that I really missed and used to only be able to get at the old tea house in Davis over a decade ago. The spicy braised beef, unfortunately was the kind of spicy. I didn't want it to be, so if you don't like tongue, numbing spicy, this is not the dish for you. That being said, the rest of the dish was good, I found the meat to be quite tender And well seasoned, when I could taste beyond numbness, lol. Vegetables are vegetables, really not more to say about that. I'll definitely come back for the fried rice and to try other clay pot dishes, which they have a lot of variety of. Also, it seems like a lot of people really enjoy their duck, so I'll be make sure to order that next time. In terms of ambience or service, it is a Chinese restaurant. You get what you get, and that is a person who brings your food out. Just kidding (kind of) I'm not expecting five star restaurant levels of service at this price point. Plates and cups were clean, the server came when I raised my hand, idk I don't really need more than that! Also, as a Vietnamese person who always has cash on her, I love when I get a discount (5%) for using cash.

Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I went from a thin top to a medium weight sweater. We arrived in Davis I grabbed my jacket to pair with my sweater. Today was a day spent exploring Davis to see the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts (CCACA). What a great Conference. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. We looked around the current shopping center and my husband didn't see anything he was craving. He said we'll go more into town and look for a noodle place. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.

Unfortunately, this place has both bad service and food is not great. 2 stars for the price. Food (3/10) - I don't know how to describe it outside of the fact that it's just bland. I got the "Marco Polo noodles" which is just Chinese jia jiang mien. Let's start with the positives. I liked the noodle texture; it had a nice spring and were thick for a decent chew. Now, onto the bad. You could just tell that the noodles would be bland just by a look and smell. The smell of the bowl wasn't one of fragrant stir-fried pork but it actually smelled like starchy water. The sauce was super watery and had no flavor and I don't think there was even ground pork in the noodles. From what I could tell, it was some diced up mushroom and then black bean paste, without black bean flavor might I add. I had to add a GENEROUS amount of soy sauce and chili oil to make it taste decent. Honestly, I'd say it's pretty hard to mess up this dish as a whole and there's a lot of leeway on flavor but I have not tasted something that bland in a while. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the thai tea. This thing was so sweet that it was borderline undrinkable. I had to wait for the ice to melt in the drink before it was bearable and even then, it still left this residual sticky taste in my mouth. Also it's 4 dollars for canned thai tea; she grabbed it out the fridge. The only sort of saving grace of this restaurant is that it's relatively cheap. $12.50 for a good portion of noodles might convince me to go back(?) VERY BIG maybe though. I might want to try their soup noodles. Service (5/10) - It didn't really seem like she wanted me to be there. She kind of just sat behind the counter on her phone with an Airpod in the whole time. She was just on her phone the whole time and overall inattentive. When she was, she was just asking if I was ready to order (twice in the span of under 3-ish minutes). Ambiance (6/10) - Eh. It was just kinda weird. The lighting was dingy. Also didn't like how they left dirty tables around (clearly looked like they had been there for a while). Overall, probably wouldn't visit again. Might give it a second chance but food for price was pretty good. Unfortunately, bad food for good price is a no-go for me.
