The biscuits were so soft and fluffy they broke when I tried to dip them in the freshly made sausage gravy. The beautiful server even told us that there are no canned items in the resaurant...everyrhing was made fresh. Even the candied yams we saw come out wre fresh made whole sweet potatoes. I've been a regular at Mom's Cafe and frequent the place with my partner and my four-year old daughter and two-year old son for a few months now. It has become our go-to quick breakfast place on weekends. We enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, and the waitstaff is just as sweet as can be, they are so great to us and in particular to the kids. My favorite is simply the two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. I'm a fan of the basic fare, and it is done pretty well. It is a lot of food for $5. They are nice enough to let the kids split one of the $5 entrees as well, and put it on separate plates for us, a nice touch. There is very much an old-school diner aesthetic about the place, the waitstaff and the patrons. It's a breath of fresh air, honestly. Who doesn't enjoy a good diner? read more

Hubs and I have been in this establishment on two occasions. The first time we ignored the surly attitude of the waitress and got our food. It's not the best around but was okay. My friends and I were looking for a brunch place we hadn't been to in the area and I finally decided on this place. Everything about it was super friendly from the call I made to make sure they were opened to the time we left. It's definitely a Ma & Pop, hole in the wall place but it's super homey and inviting. We got there around 9:30 when I'm sure everyone was just waking up so it was not that full yet. By the time we left there was a line of people waiting. The menu is simple but with a good selection. It says on the menu that you can't order lunch until 11am but they were really flexible for my friends who wanted the chicken fried chicken. I had the eggs Benedict which was decent but not the best I've had. Overall it's a cute place in the Carrollton area to try with really friendly staff but as far as the food goes, it's pretty average read more

The staff is super friendly. If you are in to portion sizes and home cooked meals, this is the place for you. They tend to be full a lot on weekends, so you might have a small wait. It's never very long though. The prices are very reasonable for the food and quantity you are getting. read more

I'll make this quick. We placed a "to go" order and we were charged for an additional item we did not order. The cost was $11.50. After 3 days of trying to resolve the issue, we were only offered 10% off on our next visit. We would have to order at least $115.00 to recoup what was their mistake. We know mistakes can happen but are they so miserly that they couldn't just give us an $11.50 credit or even just allow us to obtain an entree for free at same price or lower. We have noticed a complete lack of concern or care in how they treat their customers. We've been going there for possibly 15 years or more. We won't any more. Especially after about 4 months ago we tried to order take out again and heard someone in the background say, "Just hang up the phone!" They did and we could not get back in touch after 4 attempts. We chalked that up to an isolated experience but now we're sure it's just the attitude the owners and staff have for the people that keep them in business. Your call on this. If you've had similar experiences, please voice them so others know. We won't be back. Food is no where worth the price now and the lack of concern or flat out disdain for their patrons doesn't warrant any more of my time and money. The service here is top notch an the servers pay very close attention for you, so much that you ever have to worry about your coffee cup being empty or cold. The food delivers a made-from-scratch comfort. They do not hold back with the seasoning so you are definitely gonna taste the food. I ordered the Chick and Waffle special this time around. The chicken was season perfectly and was not dry. The portion was big so the $8.99 is definitely with it and beats out the prices of other breakfast spots in this area. Mom's Café is a little hole in the wall place with some of the best food & awesome staff. The menu isn't too big, but it is all good southern cooking. Good size portions for a good price (2 people can eat there for less than $25 before tip, depending on what you get). I personally love the smothered chicken (grilled chicken with grilled onions & mushrooms, with Swiss cheese on top), you get 2 sides- personal favorites are the onion rings and fried zucchini (request ranch with either of them), and either 2 rolls or corn bread or 1 of each, or garlic toast. If you want smaller portions, don't fret they have a senior/kids menu you can order off of no matter your age- just ask your server for a senior/kids menu. read more

I tried Mom's cafe on recommendation from a friend who eats there for breakfast pretty regularly and I wasn't impressed. The waitress was really nice, but a little slow. My banana/pecan pancake was the star of the show and my bananas weren't even cooked in the pancake, but sliced on the top (cold!) after it was plated. The biscuits were dry and not at all flaky, the sausage was dried out and the pigs in a blanket were unmemorable. I didn't leave hungry, but I probably won't be back. read more

Have been eating here for about 10 years. The food is average. I have mostly eaten breakfast here, with an occasional lunch. Over the last month I have been about 6 times, but I think I'm done. The service and environment has taken on a negative vibe. The last few times it seems that there is constant tension between staff members. Biscuits were flat and very disappointing. I also tried the machaca but it was kinda dry and I just didn't care for it much. I've been eating at Mom's for years, and the food is fine. Prices are reasonable, portions are good, and quality is fine. Is it the Mansion Hotel on Turtle Creek? No, but it's good home cooking at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and accomadating as well. They have always been willing to do whatever I have requested for my meal. Always treat you like family, and you don't get that everywhere. If there was ever a problem, ( Which there never has been), I feel certain that they would do whatever it takes to make it right.
