Help! Where can I get a decent burrito in DFW area? Unfortunately, not here. Al Pastor Burrito looked promising - hefty size, grilled tortilla... I can honestly say, you'd be better off ordering from Taco Bell. It was tasteless mush, and the side condiments did not help. Ngl, we did not finish even half of this before tossing. Asada fries were ok. They did the job I guess? Portions were large. The chicken was the only redeeming quality of this trip. It was flavorful and tasted freshly grilled - and with a name like Pollo Salsa, I sure hope they would do their chicken right. Oh boy, and the salsas were awful. Not sure if it was an off day, but every salsa we got from the self-serve salsa bar here tasted rancid, like they've been sitting out for a week. Sour, in the worst way. The cashier was sweet but she seemed extremely shy, didn't speak a lick of English and I think she might also have been new. Had to communicate in my mediocre Spanish to get my order in. read more

Went to my neighborhood Pollo Salsa restaurant drive thru. I ordered my usual 3 piece chicken only with corn tortillas. 1breast, leg and thigh. When I went to the window, I was told the price was $12.73. I gave her the money and told they had raised their prices and she replied that there was a $2.00 charge because I did not get a wing. No where on the menu and I was not informed that you had to get a wing or that the 3 piece was only certain pieces of chicken. As I have always ordered the same thing. If I had not already paid I would have just left. I will not ever go back to this restaurant. There menu did not state what you had to order or the charge for no wing. The order taker did not inform me of the charge up front of payment and if you are going to charge for the wing, why did you not just add a wing. Instead you just ripped me off $2.00. False advertising and looks like racial profiling because I am white? read more

Honestly, I think their food is great. I just hate coming through the drive-through every single time. I place the order it's wrong. I'm not sure how if you only have the same items on the menu which is chicken and whatever side why are you giving me the wrong tortillas why are you giving me the wrong side? There's only a certain amount of sides on there. It's really not that hard. I keep coming because I enjoy their food, but LORD who wants to keep coming back around I guess I need to start checking my bag now when I get my items. then when I called to speak with the manager, they said that four people heard me take my order what happened to the customers right? Why would I lie about the side orders that I requested? It makes no sense. I go back and get my items and guess what they're still wrong. Maybe they need to start paying a little bit more attention to peoples orders or maybe reading them back when you get to the window, but I think that was very unprofessional for the so-called manager to tell me what I ordered and there was four people that heard the order if they don't get out of here with that crap. Rice is not coleslaw. Charles beans are not refried beans if I have to come through your line the second time and you still get it wrong that's a problem. When I'm in the mood for grilled chicken, I always think about Pollo Salsa! As you approach the restaurant, you can smell the wonderful aroma of charring chicken on the grill. I usually order their grilled chicken meals so I can't really speak to their other dishes. The chicken has the perfect amount of smoke and salt. Admittedly, the smaller pieces of chicken like the legs and wings are a bit dry, but their sauces saves the day. Their chicken meal comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas and mix of grilled jalapeños with chopped onions and cilantro. You also get additional sides depending on how many pieces of chicken you order. My go-to sides are the fries, rice and coleslaw. I've used the drive thru once and it was a fine experience. However, I agree with other reviewers when they say it does move a bit slow since everything is made to order, even the chopping of the chicken. Nothing is pre-packed. If you want something sweet, they have a variety of pastries for sale daily as well as horchata and jamaica. Something to keep in mind: the chicken is chopped with a cleaver so there is a risk of getting bone shards. Eat with caution. Overall, the food is decent and and is great for a quick lunch or weeknight meal. read more

to any family going there this place is not what it used to be we ordered the 16pc family pack for 54$ and the size of everything was a joke small beans small rice even super small pieces of chicken and its not that i expect them to be huge or something but no i kid you not 2 chicken legs from this place is about the same as a chicken leg from popeyes or something other place everything was super small chicken breast peaces you could finish in 3-4 bites but yea as a first time purchaser i would never come here again read more

The drive thru makes this a convenient place to pick up lunch except they have considerable wait times even if there is no line. I ordered the street taco platter for $6.99, comes with 3 tacos, rice, beans & avocado but no drink. I did get 3 small street tacos (chicken & barbacoa) that were heavy on the chunks of raw onion and cilantro. The beans were actually very good and I don't usually bother eating them, rice was standard. And of course, no avocado. Honestly, the tacos were just ok, it tasted more like a raw onion taco then chicken or barbacoa. The onion flavor overpowers the entire platter. The salsa was ok but if you want extra, its going to cost you. The chicken itself tasted good and maybe one day I'll come back to try that. I'll pass on those tacos. read more

Ordered take out for us and another couple. I got chicken fajitas which were very good, plentiful but could have used more seasoning. Hubby got the chicken enchiladas with queso they were loaded with chicken and we liked the queso sauce. Other couple ordered fajitas and their opinion was the same as ours. A few friends and I went to check this place out! It was my first time so our friend ordered for us and we ate fam bam style! We ordered one 12 piece with one 6 piece grilled chicken to feed 7. It came with couple sides and tortilla so you can make your own chicken taco. My friend said putting everything in your taco is the way to go (chicken+coleslaw+rice+salsa+onions). So of course I put it all in! Hahaha it was good and at first the chicken was pretty moist but it tends to get more and more dry as you continue to eat your meal... If you have a taste for authentic street style tacos or authentic Spanish food in general, this isn't it. If you have a taste for flavorful food, this definitely isn't it. I ordered the chicken taco platter and cut my gums on a rogue chicken bone shard that was in the only taco I could manage to stomach. I can say that's the first time that has EVER happened to me while eating a taco. Both the green and red salsa tasted weak- no spice, no kick, no nothing. The only thing the salsas were good for was to take away from the dryness of the tortillas which tasted like regular store bought tortillas that require finesse to taste like something worth consuming. They shouldn't even be called "salsa", they should be called "dry taco lubricant" (sound gross? Good, that's exactly how it tasted.) I'm not often disappointed to the point of anger concerning food but, Jesus, the lack of flavor and the lack of quality really gave me "we make trash food but we are going to enter the food market anyway since people like tacos so, deal with it" vibes which I HATE. It tasted very much like appropriated, mass produced, joyless tacos and I'll leave it there. Everything tasted cheap and low quality, nothing had flavor, nothing had anything other than the bare minimum of what it required for my stomach to decide "is this all that was open? I mean, I guess we're full then you jerk" after a single bite of the taco (after I got shanked in the gums by a bone) and a few bites of rice and refried beans. It's really hard to mess up spanish rice and refried beans so I can't even give pity points for the fact that both those sides were edible. I rarely leave negative reviews but I'm annoyed they even showed up as an option for street tacos when they didn't even come with the traditional street taco "fixings" (cilantro, onions... at the VERY LEAST, a lime) or flavor. Its not like the flavor or the other ingredients were so stellar that they could stand alone without being buried in lime juice and onions so, I guess the lack of flavor is intentional. All in all, if you have a diet that needs bland food, you won't be getting any tummy aches or food comas from this place but your stomach and tastebuds will probably ask you what the hell they did to deserve the punishment. Two stars solely because of the rice, amount of meat, and beans... but if all tasted below average, it probably should only be one. Thank God I at least had my own salsa in my kitchen and a husband who will eat anything or there would have been some very happy raccoons in my trash tonight (or maybe not so happy, depends on how their tastebuds are set up.) read more

I keep coming back to this place because of the great grilled chicken and an always fresh salsa bar. This place reminds of CA's El Pollo Loco. The chicken has a red colouring that probably comes from marinating in red chiles and annatto seeds. In my opinion this chicken is better than Refugio - they split the chicken open so the marinade really gets into the meat. They have four types of salsa in their salsa bar: pico de gallo (mild), salsa (medium) chipotle (medium) and a green avocado sauce that is HOT.The sauce bar also has grilled jalapenos, chopped onions w/ cilantro, limes and sometimes grilled onions. The only side I have tried at place is their borracho beans and they are above average. Most of the time I just come here to have the chicken and maybe some corn tortillas. It is a little pricier than the other Carrollton Mexi-standbys but none can do chicken like this place. read more

I tried this place for the first time, and I was a little hesitant at first. I ordered the chicken tacos and doubled up on the black beans because I'm not a big fan of spanish rice. A friend recommended I get the lemonade, and it was DELICIOUS. So, I wanted another round, I got disappointed when the lady said she would have to charge me a $1 to get a refill. I have been going to this place since for more than ten years before it was called pollo salsa. It was the closest thing to El Pollo Loco (California restaurant). Parking is good. Prices are good. Food is good. Staff is a hit or miss, some have been there for a while and are super nice. I have had rude cashiers but it doesn't effect the food so... I just move on. read more

I love that I can get street tacos from a drive through. I've tried the chicken and the beef tacos and I recommend the beef tacos hands down. I have also tried the rice which is very flavorful. I wouldn't recommend the queso as it tasted very bland and had no flavor. The service is prompt and prices are very low. I've never had a issue with my order being incorrect or taking too long. This review is for breakfast only. I've never been here for the mainstay of the restaurant...chicken. I took a detour from my normal breakfast routine and went to Pollo Salsa for breakfast last Saturday morning. I had egg and bacon tacos. They were made fresh, but they were not nearly as delectable as El Paisa. The salsa was also weird...one of them smelled like spaghetti sauce. That may be lovely on chicken, but it was gross on my breakfast taco. BLAH! We were the only folks getting breakfast at Pollo Salsa, so that should have been a sign. El Paisa is always packed on Saturday mornings for breakfast, and we are the only gringos. I'm sticking to the tried and true for my breakfast tacos from now on. I may give Pollo Salsa a try for dinner sometime. I'll update my review after I try what they are known for. read more

This place is good but horrible service in the drive-thru. They always get an order wrong - with incorrect sauces or none that you ask for, and missing orders. I would order a 3 piece chicken and they would only give you 2. The prices are always different everytime I come, sometimes charging extra for sauces. I call IMPOSTER! You have a cute litte sign, with a pretty building and a drive through. You look like you'll hit the spot. However, not only did you miss the spot, but you didn't even come near the spot. Dry chicken is unforgivable- plain and simple. Your grilled chicken was lifeless and made me wonder, if I dropped it into a bucket of water, would it inflate? I also ordered a chicken and beef chimi. I felt very pleasantly surprised by Pollo Salsa. I'm not sure what I was expecting...perhaps like a Pollo Regio, or maybe like a Del Taco....I was nervous before coming in, but was surprised to find that it's not like either. This is something like Mexican, something like Tex-Mex, with a focus on grilled chicken. There's a variety of things on the menu, but I felt compelled to go with the grilled chicken, since it's their specialty. I was very happy - the 2-piece meal was plenty of food and the flavor on the chicken was fantastic. It comes with 3 tortillas and I enjoyed breaking up the chicken and making little tacos with the toppings that come in the well-stocked condiment bar. Great to see a wide selection of salsas and toppings, and I really enjoyed the grilled thick-sliced jalapenos. Black beans were pretty standard, and the side of grilled veggies was really very good. The outside may look like generic blah whatever, but the inside is unexpectedly pretty classy. Tons of booths and tables, chilly A/C, lots of dark wood veneer, and the open kitchen area looks clean and shiny. The food is cheap and tasty. Huge portions. The chicken fajita platter came with a generous scoop of guacamole and was piled high with tons of juicy meat. Good stuff! They also serve beer and margaritas.
