After an early casting of my ballot down the street,I sought out this spot for some heavy fuel to propel me through the day. This cafe has been here forever and about 15 years since I've eaten here . It used to be crowded throughout their breakfast and lunch operating hours. However,8:30 and I'm the only one here? I immediately feel on guard and ready to make a decision to leave before I have an average breakfast experience. The friendly waitress finally appears handing out menus and taking drink orders. I ask her if there's been a change of ownership and she responds "yes a new Partnership". At least she was honest. I've seen it a lot lately. These older traditional family run cafes changing hands due to retirement, death or fatigue. It's predictable as the once well oiled machine begins slipping. I decided to throw caution to the wind and give it a chance. I'm glad I did. They serve up a multitude of daily breakfast plates for $12+ dollars. Ours were decent but not memorable. I'm afraid these endangered species cafes are no longer in demand and slowly withering on the vine. However,if your in the area and want to fuel up for the day,I say... Go!

We were in Allen to try out another place but they were to go only and we were not aware. So instead we decided to check this place out since we passed it on the way to the other place. This appears to be a local spot that mostly carters to people in Allen. It gives a local only type of vibe by which I mean that everyone is friendly and even the people at the table beside us helped me decide what to get with their recommendations. The menu has all types of items for breakfast and lunch plus they have daily special dishes. There is a strong Mexican food influence on the menu so is great for when dealing with someone who can't decide what they want to eat. I ordered the cowboy chicken with scrambled eggs after our table neighbors recommended it. The chicken was cooked well and was still moist. The gravy wasn't the best I had but still enjoyable. Mixed with the bacon, eggs, and biscuit, it's not a meal you take lightly. Overall I enjoyed our visit and would go back again to try some other items.

This little cafe was a find. We went around 10am on a Saturday. It was quiet but there was a steady crowd coming and going. Service was excellent. Our food came out so fast. You must try the Mexican coffee, coffee ollla. DELICIIOUS!!!

The owner changed at this restaurant so don't try to use the check in coupon. The servers were so sweet and attentive. The food overall was great as a hole-in-the-wall cafe style--very homey. The skillet was hearty with lots of hash brown. Dab it with some Tabasco and it will elevate the taste. The waffle was lovely with its crunchy outside and fluffy inside. The eggs were made just how I like it--over easy. The portions were big and the price was friendly. The restaurant was pretty booming for a Saturday morning, so that looked great.

We love Mom's! Always friendly and great service! Today we had the Mexican coffee (to die for). I had the enchiladas and my daughter had the breakfast burritos.

Went because I had heard great things. Food was just okay. Served barely warm and didn't have much flavor.

First off the Chicken Fried Chicken was delicious prepared very well good flavor and very crispy. The gravy had a lot of flavor as well no salt or pepper needed. I order three eggs over medium the yolk could have been a bit more runny. I didn't care for the has because it did not have any potatoes in it. Service was good but did not knock my socks off. The restaurant is decorated very nice and had a good vibe. I ordered a second piece of sourdough toast which tasted great hence the reason for a second piece. The real home made jam made the toast. When the bill came I was charged $4.50 for a single piece of toast. This was a ridiculous amount for a single piece of toast it was more than my iced tea. Really $2.00 for a piece of bread toasted seems like a reasonable price. I just finished breakfast at another breakfast spot up on University. I really can't compare apples to apples except for the addition pice of toast. $1.99 for two slices of toast. Over all meal was priced fair. I just don't think I will be back here due to the prices.

A special shoutout to Amanda, our server, who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, from extra BBQ sauce to additional plates! The menu continues to evolve, which is good. Although this last visit both my husband and I noticed the menu is becoming very similar to Cheesecake Factory. By that I mean, they are adding more pages, more loose menu pages with options and their menu items are going into realms that seem very off brand (raw ahi tuna plates, shwarma salad, bao buns, etc). Lazy Dog has always been associated with a diverse beer selection, a down home (almost) southern like food menu. A more elevated and sophisticated Cracker Barrell if you will. This detour from the 'norm' gave us both pause - could the food actually be good? While my hubby and kids stuck to their regular options (crispy deviled eggs, buffalo chicken bites, kids menu) I chose to try the Chili Crunch Ahi Tuna - sashimi grade seared rare tuna, furikake-seasoned rice, edamame, avocado, marinated cucumbers, pickled ginger, spicy garlic crunch, citrus soy dipping sauce and it was DELICIOUS!!! I enjoyed every bite of my meal and would absolutely order it again. I definitely think Lazy Dog is making a run for being competition to Cheesecake Factory when it comes to their menu. Their desserts however have a LOOOOONG way to go. The Campfire Cookies were awful!! Stale, cooked firm, every bite had so many white chips it was overwhelming, there was barely any chocolate, the drizzle soaked into the stale cookies and was tasteless. I have a hard time saying no to any cookie, but could easily say no to these every time. I will actually look forward to trying Lazy Dog again now that they have other healthier options to choose from.

In Eunice G's review, she called this place a "Hidden gem in Allen!". I completely agree, and would…read moresuggest that you could also call it a gemstone mine, because it is chock full of gems. We were looking for a good taqueria in Allen and found it here. This is a cozy place with about 10+ tables, playing Mexican music videos, etc. (but not loud enough to interfere with conversation). To try things out, we ordered their grilled cebolla/jalapeño combo, and 4 tacos -pastor, chorizo, barbacoa, & lengua (see photos). These are Mexican Street taco style with 2 corn tortillas. I tried the pastor, chorizo & barbacoa - they were all excellent! Served with onion, cilantro, lime slices and radish slices. Very high quality! I would be happy to eat any of them again, but would probably quadruple down on the pastor because it was just great (and I am a pastor fan - I am still in search of the El Tizoncito style al pastor tacos that you can find in DF, but until I do, these will keep me happy). While I can eat lengua (if I can't find pastor), but my wife is a connoisseur and she liked them (and messaged a friend about them). The Cebolla asados with jalapeños were amazing and an incredible value at ~ $2. We had no chance to try La Sirena (paleteria y fruteria), but it looked very promising. We will be back to try their breakfast offerings. We feel quite fortunate to have found this place.
