The Berkshires are lucky to have a new addition to the many wonderful eateries in the county. Bringing true southern comfort up to New England, Momma Lo's is delicious, filling, and each bite is satisfying! Note that despite having ample time to take photos of my takeout order (Ribs with Mac & Cheese and a Corn Muffin) as soon as we got the food home everyone was digging in. This trio - mom and two sons - are bringing something new and exciting to the area and I encourage everyone to stop by asap!

Not a bad BBQ spot! We were in the GB area for the first time and looking for a quick lunch, good food but nothing pretentious. This place definitely hit the spot. It's no frills takeaway BBQ with a view of their own smoker. The food is served fast as it's been prepared earlier. To be honest I've had better BBQ - the collard greens needed a lot of flavor and were undercooked, the brisket was good but a bit tough, however the pulled pork and mac and cheese were pretty good. It definitely fixed our craving and the BBQ sauce was delicious. The pricing was worth it on the pulled pork combo however they don't give lunch pricing for the brisket so it was pretty expensive, spent almost $50 on the two lunch portions pictured, however this is a tourist area so not shocked.

Visiting my mom in Copake and wanted to explore with my sister. We wanted to explore the road less travelled and wound up at this gem. Dont expect frills. Expect warm hearted people who want to spoil you with delicious food. One plate was enough for at least 3 people and we still had leftovers. We got the brisket and mac and cheese and coleslaw and chicken. All were perfect and we are pretty hard to please. They take cash or cashapp. Theres a tip jar, use it. The portions are so generous and they are so kind! Ample parking

Mamma Lo's Southern style BBQ may be the best kept secret in Great Barrington, but, hopefully, not a secret much longer. They are, hands down, the best southern-style BBQ in the entire Northeast, and are a great addition to the growing restaurant culture in this southern end of Berkshire County. Kathy and I had a half-rack of ribs (plenty for 2!), collard greens (served with bacon!) and corn muffins. This proved a perfect meal to take to Tanglewood. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone perfect and drenched in a tangy, vinegar-y sauce, for which the collard greens were a great complement. You can be sure that a return trip is already being planned. I think a move to a larger space will be needed, soon. There is nothing in the area which even comes close. Prices? Dinner for 2 was well under $50, a bargain in dining. It's worth a drive... from anywhere!

Little place. Smells outstanding. Only a few seats, and take out. So we took out. We ordered BBQ Ribs, Brisket, Cole slaw, Collards and corn bread. Every single part of our order was absolutely the best. Tender, tasty, crispy, all at once. The collards are the best, and the corn bread is worth the trip to Great Barrington alone!

Great food made by great people. Best BBQ I've had in the northeast by a mile. You're missing out if you don't try this place.

The soft pretzel, made fr spent brewer's grain was really good! The cheddar ale soup was a bit disappointing. It delivered on the ale, but the soup was thin and had a kind of gritty texture. Not the creamy texture you'd expect in a cheese soup. My wife got the brisket sandwich with fries. It was odd. Normally brisket is served sliced which accentuates the tenderness, but this was pulled, like pulled pork. The flavor was okay. I had the chicken pot pie which was okay. I wouldn't order it again. We didn't like the service at all. The staff wasn't really welcoming at all. When I went to the bar to pay for a four pack of brown ale, I waited probably five minutes before anyone paid attention to me. Two servers and the bartender all basically ignored me, and the bar wasn't busy. The bartender was engaged in small talk with other patrons. The highlights were the beer and the chocolate stout cake, which we took home. The beer is excellent. I had a brown ale and a stout. The chocolate stout cake with chocolate ganache is really good! In the end, the other reviews I saw were pretty accurate. Beer - great! Food - meh. Service - not good.

I was craving ribs, and…read morewhen I saw this place not only had them but also served hibiscus lemonade, I made the executive decision to have my family drive to Poughkeepsie from our bed & breakfast just to check it out. Worth it? Mostly, yes! Food: 4/5 We tried a little bit of everything, the Seared chicken breast - Hands down my favorite dish of the night. Perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Followed by the Bacon, egg, and homemade biscuit - A close second! The biscuit was dense and satisfying, and it had a really unique pesto-like sauce on top that made it memorable. Some other shout outs: 1) Orecchiette veggie pasta - Orecchiette is hard to find on menus, so I was delighted to see it here. It was a nice light option among our heavier dishes. 2) Jerk ribs - OK, so this is where my expectations and reality didn't fully align. They were well-cooked, but I'm a saucy girl, and these weren't as slathered or juicy as I'd hoped. That said, the rest of my table really enjoyed them. Also, that hibiscus lemonade? Chef's kiss. Refreshing and flavorful, and exactly the kind of detail that makes a place stand out to me. Service: 4/5 Now, here's where I was really surprised: one person was running the whole show. The head chef was managing the kitchen and the front of house--no servers, no extra help. Just him. For the amount of work that entails, he crushed it. Was it a bit slower than a staffed restaurant? Of course. But honestly, it gave the whole experience a humble, homegrown vibe that I appreciated. Also, it meant a lot to support a Black-owned restaurant and actually connect with the person behind the food. Final Thoughts: While we came for dinner, I could tell from the menu (and the vibe) that this place is really known for brunch. I'm genuinely curious to come back during brunch hours to see how the energy--and menu--might shift. Either way, it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a spot with heart, flavor, and soul.

Listen, 5 stars for this trip is going to sound so bad, but just wait... Ill get there…read more I find this place on Yelp, Hubby and I were in town on vacation for a weekend to get away before I was to have a pretty big operation - so we just upped & ran away one weekend. It coincidentally happened to be prime leaf peeping weekend (which isnt why we went away) but it was Sunday am, we wanted to eat somewhere that wasnt Dunks, so I found this place on Yelp and it looked super cute, so we drove 30*ish minutes to get here. We arrive & Im thinking Oh No, this isnt going to be great, we get in line and are 3rd in line. Well 15 mins has passed and no one has even acknowledged the people in front of us or anyone... Now to set the scene for anyone who hasnt been here, its like walking into a time warp home. Its not like a restaurant, this is literally a home. There is stuff EVERYWHERE, its like a yard sale, dust, books, no 2 tables, place settings, mugs, plates or anything is the same on all the tables, and the woman who was working god bless her had to be easily 75... She was running the food, cleaning & clearing the tables and this place was packed. We ended up talking to the family in front of us in line (who were regulars and in their 90s) and they said they come every weekend, so the woman who works there pulls them out of line and seats them ahead of the people in front of them (they were ok with that) but they had told us how you can buy anything in the place, if you liked your table setting you can buy it. There was so much old rustic decor, the place is friggin adorable, but you can buy it all! I just continued to walk around the place & just investigate all the things. Well 45 mins later we were finally seated and magically a few more staff people arrived to help her out, the whole experience from waiting to be seated, to ordering to actually getting the food and check was easily 2+ hours. The food I expected to then be just meh, but it wasnt IT WAS GOOD, Craig the owner chef was literally in the kitchen ALONE... and lives up stairs too, but you could see him hustling around and just handling all of it. Salad at breakfast at first to me seemed so off, but OMG was it good. All the food was just fresh and really good! This was one of those super memorable experiences, the hubby wouldnt let me buy anything and that was ok, but if we are ever back in the area we are definitely stopping in again! Dont mind the wait (which Im told isnt normally that long - I think it was all the leaf peeping tourists)
