Since it was our first time we decided to try a little of everything. We had 3 apps to split, oysters, salad, duck special. We had the udon noodles with pork belly and pork special for entree. Cute, casual restaurant with fresh, upscale menu. Loved the artichoke app and the garden salad was really good...not your plain iceberg lettuce and cucumber salad. Why I'll go back: Really flavorful dishes in a warm, classic rural atmosphere. You HAVE to order: One of the bread choices. Healthy? Maybe not. But a decadent way to start the meal. Tony's Tip: Save room for dessert - it's worth it. Just gonna add my kudos for this spot. We have been here twice (when visiting friends in the area). The food is always farm fresh and bursting with flavor. The restaurant feels early 20th century in nature, with wooden floors, multiple modest-sized dining rooms and lots of decorative items that give it a cozy feel. Twice I've had the pork belly lettuce cups, two positively scrumptious creations accented with pickled cabbage, a slightly spicy mayo, and dressing w/ peanuts, topped with a few chunky slices of avocado. These can work as an entree if you're not that hungry, but certainly also as a starter. Salads are fresh. The calamari is good, but nothing unexpected. As for the bread, this time around, six of us shared the BMB (garlic) and Truffle-Honey. Bread is toasted and served warm. One is fine for a snack for four, but I could see a table doubling up just to explore another option. Our entrees were varied, my choice being Spaccatelli Pesto pasta. I was expecting a classic wine/olive-oil based pesto but this one was creamy. I enjoyed it, though I felt it was swimming in a bit too much of that sauce for my liking. Other dishes that received accolades at our table were the linguine and baby clams, bouillabaisse, and fettuccini primavera. FWIW, our "local" friends say the Ramen is excellent. We were pretty stuffed, but I can often be easily arm-twisted into dessert, especially at a new restaurant that I may not visit again for a while. I am also a sucker for key lime pie. So in this situation, I was pretty much helpless. Served to me was a generous triangle covered edge-to-edge with whipped cream atop a quite tart (this is good) pie and a graham cracker crust with perfect consistency. Amazing how a finale like that will find room in my stomach every time! We felt the service was attentive and our server was helpful with our various requests. As for the price, it's not inexpensive, but still fair IMO for what many would say is one of the best restaurants in the Berkshires. For many in the area, it's a long drive to eat out in general. Cafe Adam is a unique restaurant with some quirky, artistic decor and vibe to it. The menu had a range of different dishes from tacos to Korean pork ribs. I loved the tuna special I got. Disappointed on our second visit today. We used to recommend this place after a great first experience, but sadly both the service and food have declined. It felt more like a cold retirement home cafeteria on a Sunday night. We came with our toddler and felt unwelcome in several instances -- not just from the staff, but from other diners. While we understand that the main clientele may be older couples, it felt like no effort was made to accommodate families with young children. We did confirm with that they are not kids unfriendly. However, there's no kids menu, and any sound from a toddler drew disapproving looks. Out of courtesy, my husband and I took turns eating while one of us walked our toddler outside most of the time. Still, we were met with coldness from the moment we arrived. An older couple even banged the door against me and my child as we entered. Our waitress seemed unhappy to serve us, barely smiled, and brought to-go boxes before we finished our meal -- even before we could order dessert. It happened to be my birthday, which we mentioned, yet the waitress didn't even offer a simple "happy birthday." When we voiced our concerns to the waitress, she simply replied, "We probably just don't see many kids in this area," with no apology or attempt to make us feel more welcome. It was extremely unprofessional and rude. To be fair, some of the younger staff appeared more friendly and helpful. But the overall vibe was cold -- more like a retirement home cafeteria than a welcoming neighborhood restaurant. It's deeply disappointing to feel so unwelcome just for dining with a child. We won't be returning, and unfortunately can no longer recommend this place to others -- especially families. read more

I can't believe I haven't found this place before in the Berkshires!! There was so much festive energy inside and out. The staff is so accommodating. Our group kept growing and they were nimble and helpful to make a perfect table for us. Two of us had the bento with tuna. Yum. The wings are made from real organic chicken, and very plump. I had the linguini with white clam sauce and honestly it could be the best one I've ever had. My friend had a Negroni and the glassware was this classic old world, beautiful vessel. My other friend, who really cares about the wine, he chooses felt the wine list was excellent. I want to go back and try some more things on the menu asap! read more

stopped here on the way to a performance at jacobs pillow and it was delicious. we started with the truffle honey bread which was truffle butter, local honey and fresh grated black truffle. the combination of flavors was great and everything complimented each other well. For an entree i decided to go with udon noodles which was an explosion of flavors, only thing i wish is that there was more pieces of pork belly because it was so yummy. my girlfriend got the smash burger special which even tho delicious was not really a smash burger. service was great and attentive and willing to explain any questions about the menu. we sat in the bar area which was great. they have a nice selection of craft beer and cocktails as well. will definitely be back read more

Was solo traveling in the area and decided on this spot. I sat at the bar and had an amazing bartender who provided great service. I ordered a salad with added salmon for a nine dollar upcharge, which was fine. However, I was surprised to find that it was salmon lox instead of cooked salmon. The portion size was quite generous, but I was anticipating cooked salmon on my salad. Despite that, it was tasty and I finished it. We had been packing for a move all day, and we were starving. We checked the website and saw they closed at 9:00, so we jumped in the car and arrived a few minutes before 9:00. When we walked in, the man at the door told us they stopped seating at 8:45. We told him the website said they close at 9:00, and he said that's when they close, but they don't seat people after 8:45. We asked him if we could please just get a quick meal, and he said he would have to check with the kitchen to see if they would be willing to serve us. We watched him walk into the kitchen and speak to a guy who shrugged and then nodded. The man then walked back up to us and said we could stay, but we had to "order fast." He was clearly annoyed. When our server came over, I asked what we could order that would be quick to prepare. She asked, "Are you trying to accommodate us, or are you in a hurry to eat and leave?" I told her I didn't want anyone in the kitchen to have to stay any longer than they had to. She told us not to worry about the time and to order whatever we wanted. She said they still had plenty of customers in the restaurant and we would not be holding anyone up. Her name was Jen, and she was absolutely delightful. From that point on, our dinner was wonderful! We ordered the calamari starter, Caesar salad, shrimp linguini, Korean BBQ ribs, and the chicken sandwich. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were not the last customers to leave the restaurant, and I was happy to know that staff didn't have to stay later on our account. My takeaways: Guy (manager?) at the door is rude and unfriendly. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had! Cafe Adam hit all the marks for quality, atmosphere, service and more. First, our server (Brandon) was extremely helpful, attentive and very friendly. Any question we had about the menu was quickly answered and when the kitchen made a small mistake regarding an unwanted ingredient , he quickly rectified the situation. The menu offers truly unique and extensive offerings with a mix of daily specials and their "normal" selections. The Duck Sausage special was a kicked up version of a hotdog at the ballpark and was fantastic. The Fries with Aioli and Asian BBQ Sauce is a must and they were crispy thin fries with two glorious dipping sauces. Don't miss out on the RI Calamari, which was perfectly fried and tasty. The Roman artichokes were unique and flavorful. The 4 hour Korean BBQ Pork Spare Ribs are glorious, tender and packed with flavors. They can truly be described as one of the best entrees I have ever had. There were many other appetizers and entrees that we all enjoyed and not one disappointed. Rounding out the evening was the visually beautiful and equally delicious Banana Neapolitan. The restaurant atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting with friendly staff. I have mixed feelings writing this review. Its the small things that make a restaurant great. Like the chairs at the table we were sitting on. When you sit down on a chair and springs are literally hurting your bottom you wonder why this successful operation doesnt replace and get comfy chairs. And after driving for over an hour from Rhinebeck to meet our friend we wanted to relax for a while but the waitress was so persistent that we order. It just felt pushy. I will say that the hanger steak and fries exceeded expectations. The halibut was good but not sure it was worth 49 bucks. And the chocolate desert was excellent. So all in all an enjoyable experience but maybe some slight room for improvement. read more

When I left Cafe Adam, I said to my boyfriend, "I am pretty sure nothing could have been improved about that meal." We started off with the Truffle Snack (truffled goat cheese, fig jam, burgundy black truffles, sesame toast) though I am pretty sure when we had it, it was not made on sesame toast. We also had the Berkshire Mountain bread, which was thick grilled slices of wondrous carbohydrates served with delicious, strong olive oil. I had the chicken sandwich as my main course. I was not sure what to expect -- grilled or fried or what have you -- and was pleasantly surprised by a scrumptious piece of fried chicken. The brioche bun had some kind of sweet honey aioli, which combined with the fried chicken and the brioche itself made for one of the most tastefully buttery meals I have had to date. It came with house-made ketchup that tasted more like a sweet barbeque sauce than ketchup but was nevertheless quite good on the sandwich. Ketchup would have been better on the fries). For dessert, we had a layered chocolate dessert that consisted of some kind of chocolate mousse-y thing with a tangy sherbert on top. It was a unique dessert. The ambiance of this restaurant is lovely. It's homey and classy and gives the impression that one has just spent a long day in a study, or out in nature doing hard work, and is now venturing into a warm kitchen for a fine dining-like home-cooked meal. We were so looking forward to our dinner. After waiting 30 minutes for our entreés, I inquired about the status and told our server that we needed to leave for a show by a certain time. The waitress basically admonished me for not telling the restaurant before hand and left in a huff to see what she could do. Well, 40 minutes later we got our entrees and had 10 minutes to eat. I love to dine and enjoy and appreciate good food, but it is odd to me that a restaurant can't turn out three entrees within an hour. The food was fine but not worth the money or the attitude from the server. Shoulda seen my friend trying to eat 200 degree soup in 8 minutes - literally set a timer. . At least the show was great! Cafe Adam is an extremely special dining experience, from the moment you are greeted to the last morsel consumed, and you may be taking some home because the portions are generous! Mixed drinks are a treat as is the wine list and the appetizers are wonderful. My wife and I are vegan and they worked with us to craft an excellent meal. Our son, who is training to be a chef, is not vegan and had the scallops which he remarked were the best prepared, freshest and most wonderfully flavored he has ever had. What a precious find. We were in Great Barrington on the final Saturday before everything was closed due to COVID-19 and my dinner at Cafe Adam is one I will always cherish. Cafe Adam, I adore you for providing such an outstanding vegan entree that isn't a burger, or anything involving fake meats at all. Instead, an abundance of fresh, exquisitely prepared vegetables and lentils grace the plate and convince anyone that vegetables on their own make a delicious and filling meal. To start, we shared housemade potato chips that are lightly spiced and almost intoxicating. Come to think of it, the entire meal might have left me a bit spellbound. I should note that I don't even like sweet potatoes and can't even recall the last time I had them and didn't just pick them out. Here they are perfectly charred and go so well with the other veggies, lentils and cashew crema that's decorating the plate as well. I know we'll get back to normal eventually, but hey, if this was my last meal out at a restaurant, at least I can say it was exceptional thanks to the delicious food and a couple glasses of sparkling Malbec, which is such a rare find (and one of my favorite sparkling wines). In addition, the atmosphere is elegantly rustic and makes you feel like this is how every restaurant should be in such a picturesque part of the state. And yes, a great date night spot. The food was not good at all. The truffle butter and bread had so much garlic that it competed with the truffle. Truffle alone is a strong and lovely flavor and should be showcased not overshadowed. We chose this restaurant because they offered fried artichokes with aioli which is my daughter's favorite and it was a birthday celebration dinner. The waitress didn't seem to know much so had to keep coming and going to ask kitchen questions. The environment was horrible-too many odd pieces of "art" and decor was confusing. Hodge-Podge. The worst part was there was a plug-in air freshener in our dining room! A restaurant is not a locker room or bathroom--scented candles, overly strong scented hand soap in the restrooms and air fresheners of ANY kind do not belong in a food service establishment EVER. This interferes with one's ability to enjoy the dining experience-the aroma and flavor of the food is compromised. I suggest management re-evaluate standards. We enjoyed our meal. We decided to order only small plates because the entrees were eye-wateringly expensive. We really enjoyed the fried broccolini and the avocado toast and the truffle snack. The crab cake was fine, but not special. The watermelon salad was delicious. The server was fine, tho she did forget a portion of our order and seemed harried later in the evening. I am a regular here and have previously rated Cafe Adam 5 stars. My last two visits have been progressively more disappointing. A caesar salad ($16) consisted of lettuce sprinkled with parmesan--with a very light or non-existent dressing. We asked for more dressing and were immediately obliged, but with a different tyep (and better) dressing, which I think have described as "caesar". The bouilabase ($47) had excellent seafood in a non-descript tomato based "soup", more than a broth everything had been steeped in. Not a trace of garlic to my palate accompanied by a slice of excellent toasted bread, ruined by what seemed a generous slathering of Russian dressing. The quality of ingredients is high & readily apparent; unfortunately so is the indifference with which they are prepared. A second entree, Spacciatella Fra Diavlo was better, but nothing to write home about. It remains a very pleasant environment and the service was very good. I regret having to write all of the above. I decided to take a shot at somewhere new for an intimate evening out. I made reservations as recommended by my fellow Yelp!er's and I'm glad I did. I grabbed an open spot in the small dining room. We were tucked away nicely away from the busy hustle and bustle of the main dining area. Our server was prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. We started out with some appetizers and were delighted. Both the escargot and bacon wrapped figs were delicious. As we moved onto the entrees, we both were pleasantly surprised. Many times, upscale restaurants like this don't give much in the way of portion size but Cafe Adam knows how to portion perfectly. No need for a doggy bag but you aren't leaving hungry either. And the entrees we had were excellent. Perfectly seared scallops and the freshest pasta. Delicious sauces and wonderful plating make our entree incredibly desirable. After the main course we decided to go for dessert. Because why not!? Everything else had been amazing so far so why stop now! I ordered the crème brûlée which was done perfectly. Wonderful crack on the top and the smoothest crème hidden underneath. We also order the special dessert of the evening which consisted of a grilled pineapple atop of a moist cake and the drizzled with a sweet cranberry sauce and garnished with tart cranberries and coconut foam. It was light, refreshing and just the perfect end to a spectacular meal. Another thing that I was impressed by was the timing of everything that came to the table. We never felt like there was any waiting between courses. Enough to clear the plates and soon after the next course would arrive. I really enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic evening out. But remember! Reserve the small dinging room for a more intimate environment! read more
