The pastry is light and incredibly fluffy, but stays dense and decadent because they don't skimp on the filling (it's actually in the center, not just a garnish on top!). The Lilikoi was a total standout--bright, fresh, and perfectly tart. I found myself breaking off the flaky layers just to dip them into that golden center. I've never had the cube croissant before so perhaps this is just the style of them. I liked the guava filling but thought the cube croissant part was okay. It did seem like this one had more dough than filling. - Lilikoi Croissant (between $6 and $7) - I found that this croissant was not really flaky. There was a really good filling to croissant ratio in this one. However, I did appreciate the strength of the lilikoi flavor in this croissant, and the filling did taste fresh. - Macadamia Nut Latte ($6.85)- we both got ours iced, 12 ounce and with regular milk. We honestly enjoyed these lattes more than the croissants. The macadamia flavor came through quite strong (in a good way) and was pretty unique. There is a small parking lot and lots of seating inside. We saw a couple chickens wandering around outside when we grabbed our pastries.

We also took a walk through the gardens and visited the tortoise. We saw a bunch of food trucks but were so happy we ate here instead! I'm sure they're all good but I'm glad we made a good choice! Also some things you can't order online like their musubis, etc. However you can still get their malasadas and croissants, etc. We tried all their malasadas and our favs were the coconut cream and the lilikoi (passion fruit). We also tried their mango bread which was moist and fruity (no chunks of mango in it though) and the lime pie which was lovely! However, I think the big surprise for me was that the malasadas are smaller than I expected. The first time I had a malasada was at Leonard's in Oahu which are like...the size of your hand. I snagged the Isabelle, a loaf of bread made of spelt (dinkel wheat, high in protein, fiber, and antioxidants) and rolled in an assortment of seeds. The texture is soft and the crust is slightly chewy. Just right and the taste is very satisfying. I can't bring myself to putting a slice into the toaster, though, because I don't want to risk losing any of the seeds. I'll be fine with the broiler and some butter. I also went for the Hawaiian Bread. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It has pineapple, toasted coconut and tiny soft raisins. The bread is moist from the pineapple juice and the loaves are small. I could finish one off in a setting but I resisted the urge. I also bought extras for sharing and had to pass them out quickly before temptation called. I'll return soon.

Stopped by Richard's Market during a quick visit to Lana'i. There's not too many options on the…read moreisland and this is probably the biggest (only?) grocery store/market there. They've been in operation since 1946 and are located on Dole Square where many of the island's businesses are concentrated. They offer a variety of fresh produce, meat, seafood, and pantry items. They also have a selection of prepared foods, gourmet wine, a poke counter and sundries. I came for the snacks (of course) and settled on their spam musubi. I don't know what they put in their musubi, but that thing was DELICIOUS! The rice is seasoned along with the spam and both together are a homerun. My only regret was only getting one :( All in all, this is a good place to stop and stock up on snacks, drinks, and other items.
