Found the Molokai Hot Bread truck near Kamiloiki Park. They were sold out! Got there two customers too late. Argh! I saw the truck again at the American Savings near Pearlridge Center. Yay! They still had hot bread! But they only had ones that were already lathered with cream cheese and other toppings. I really wanted the plain hot bread. The guy said that you need to get there early if you want the plain hot bread. I bought the hot bread with cream cheese and strawberry jam. The bread very soft and the filling was quite delicious. It was a little too sweet for my son, so I removed the filling for him, popped the hot bread in the toaster over and lathered it with butter. Oh man, he loved that! Next time, I need to get to the truck earlier and order a bunch of the plain hot bread loaves and put my own toppings on it. I am amazed how crazy people get about this bread. The line moved at a steady pace. OVERALL: Obsessed. This bread is a winner. Felt it was a little pricy, but you get an entire sweet bread WITH a filling/fillings of your choice (or none at all).. and those breads are heavy! We were planning a trip back to Molokai this summer just for the bread, when a friend told us about the Molokai hot bread oahu truck and BOY ARE WE STOKED! My bf told me when he went to Molokai, this was the only bakery there. You have to go into a small Alleyway to get the bread there. I thought that was interesting. Since they have a pop up on the island, thought I would give it a try. We went to the Pearl Ridge pop up. There wasn't a line. Got the blueberry cream cheese bread $10. Quite expensive for bread. Saw the truck pull up to their headquarters at Paradise Ciders, and I asked them if I could buy a bread dispute them being closed. So glad they said yes. They also had the pumpkin cheesecake and matcha flavor. The matcha flavor was delicious, too. It wasn't too bitter and it wasn't too sweet. I think the spices in te pumpkin flavor was too intense. I went there on a Friday, and the truck was at the American savings bank in waipahu. The truck was scheduled to be there from 1:00-pau. We got there around 1255 and waited and saw almost no people, but right when the truck arrived, hella people came out of the shadows and formed a big line. This food truck got mad street cred. You can get a basic chunk of bread for a think 7$. After that,each filling is 1$. You can get strawberry, blueberry, cream cheese, butter, or cinnamon. There is also an option for getting a gangbang of all the flavors at once, but if you are the type who puts cinnamon and butter on blueberries, then stay away from me. Also I don't see a reason to not get a filling unless you are going to make a giant hamburger. I got the strawberry and cream cheese, and it was good. Do believe the hype about the Molokai Hot Bread! Its that good and some! I first tried the molokai bread in Molokai years and years ago. Not sure if they are still selling it in the middle of the night from that dark and long alley, but people would come from afar to get some. There was nothing close to it then, and as far as I'm concerned, there isn't any close to it now. I'm excited seeing this establishment grow outside of Molokai into Oahu. They went from just distributing in the Leeward side to now having 5-6 locations they make their rounds distributing this goodness in a bag! The bread is delish on its own. Everything else you add on is just a bonus for your mouth, and for your belly! My mouth watered as soon as I was handed my order. I love bread! I mean...I LOVE BREAD!! Got to waikele at 2:45pm and I was about #40 in line. By the time I was at the front there were only two choices left. I do wish they had a limit on how many loafs each person can buy. Some were buying 10+. When it does say online that orders of 10 or more can be picked up in Pearlridge, I don't know if people were aware of this. I think a limit would be able to give others a chance to get a taste. I got the cream cheese with strawberry and I just say the portion of toppings was amazing! The bread was nice and soft as well. Wahhh :( I went three times to get the bread and was able to secure the first spot in line by arriving at least 30 min before their 2pm arrival. I couldn't contain my excitement​ when I heard that Kanemitsu Bakery's Molokai Hot Bread truck would be making a comeback​ to town side after a two-month​ hiatus. Once you get a taste of this bread, there's really no turning back. If you're a bread lover like I am you need to get yourself to this truck ASAP. You'll be amazed at how simple yet delicious their bread​ really is​. The day my friend and I stopped by they were scheduled to open at 2 pm near Mother Waldron Park on the corner of Cooke and Pohukaina St. in Kakaako. We got there 15mins early, found street parking and spotted them already parked with only several people beginning to line up to order. We were about 5/6 in the queue to order. Their bread loaves are well sized and pillowy soft. Pick from their list of fillings to mix/match (or just get plain if you just love the bread): Blueberry, Strawberry, Cream Cheese, Butter, Cinnamon, or Da Works (everything) for $13. On my visit,​ I just ordered 1 loaf with the strawberry and cream cheese fillings. I would say these two flavor fillings are an excellent combo if you're stuck on what fillings to choose from. I was pleasantly delighted at how sweet the cream cheese flavor was (don't expect that Philadelphia stuff you buy from the grocery store ). The workers working in the truck are so nice, friendly, and efficient. After you order, they'll immediately hand your order(s) to you and instruct you on how to perfectly re-heat/prepare your bread every time. "Wrap the bread in a ​damp paper towel and microwave for ​30 secs." Follow these instructions and you can't go wrong. My favorite part about Molokai Hot Bread is that after you heat your bread up you can see the flavors oozing out the middle. The loaf holds the fillings so well that it basically absorbs the flavors even more over time and never gets too soggy or mushy. I'm hoping they come to​ town more often to sell because my only regret from the last time was that I didn't buy enough! So have you seen Molokai hot bread on Instagram? They have sponsored ads that pops up every so often and it looks like there's a huge following for their breads. They were In town one day when I was off so I decided to give them a try. They were actually at the location a few minutes earlier than what they posted and there was a small line which only was about 4 people in at the time. A few more people came a little after me but it wasn't all that bad. I was able to park and grab a loaf within 15 mins or less. Each loaf of bread varies in price depending on the toppings you choose. I chose the strawberry and cream cheese. The cream cheese was really light and fluffy and not your typical store bought stuff in a tub. There was some people in line that bought a bunch of breads. But the loaf itself was quite large and it could probably feed 4 or more people really. The best thing of all is they accept credit cards! read more
