Crème brûlée was a 7.5/10. The sugar coating was a little too sweet, but I loved the crunch it gave and the cream in the middle was so good. Blueberry cheesecake gets an 8/10 overall. I didn't love the graham cracker because it had a strong buttery taste, but I get that it's needed to hold it together. Without that, it would've been a 9/10. The cheesecake topping tasted almost like custard and paired well with the blueberry cupcake base. Chocolate sea salt caramel... 10/10. This might actually be one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. Rich chocolate cake, caramel sauce in the middle, buttercream that wasn't too sweet, and the salt on top tied everything together perfectly. Peach cobbler was insane. 1000/10. It tasted like pumpkin pie and apple pie combined, probably from all the cinnamon. Not overly sweet, super light cream, and just perfection. Definitely worth the hype. The chocolate sea salt caramel and peach cobbler might actually be the best cupcakes I've ever had. read more

I came here twice in two days. One was to eat a cupcake and the second visit was to bring a few home They have a couple vegan options: chocolate and vanilla. The frostings are not vegan though I tried the chocolate with chocolate frosting. The vegan cupcake was really well made. It was light and fluffy and the frosting wasn't too sweet I thought it was delicious. We made a quick stop into Mollyss Cupcakes on our walk to the Navy Pier. The staff was friendly and the shop was cute and inviting. There are swings at the bar for seating, games all around and a chalkboard for customers to write messages. They have so many different and unique varieties of cupcakes and coffee drinks. Everything we tried was delicious. My daughter who usually doesn't like Matcha actually enjoyed the one here. read more

I didn't realize this location Molly's Cupcakes was here until I came to a concert at the jazz club on the other side of the building. Since I left the fam to attend the concert I decided to get them a cupcake as a treat. The store is very spacious but unless I missed something it's not accessible (there were five of six steps to get to the main floor of the place). There's lots of seating though. The cupcakes were ok. The ones I bought for seemed to enjoy them. For me, they were just alright; I have enjoyed the cupcakes I make more than these ones. But mine also aren't filled with stuff inside which I think at least one of these was. There's no dedicated parking, and street parking is generally going to be iffy. read more

Molly's Cupcakes in Chicago is hands down some of the best cupcakes I've had in a long time. I tried the tres leches and the saffron rose cupcakes. The saffron rose was incredible, tasting just like a Persian rose cake with delicate floral notes and a creamy filling that balanced the flavors perfectly. The tres leches was rich, moist, and exactly like traditional tres leches cake, not too sweet and perfectly indulgent. Each bite was full of flavor and you could tell everything is made with care. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone with a sweet tooth! The inside was also super cute and very instagrammable! Loved all the decor and the little swing!! read more

I ordered three crème brûlée cupcakes and one oatmeal cookie for my aunt's and uncle for Easter. I live in CA and they live in Chicago and wanted to do something special for them because oatmeal cookies and crème brûlée is their favorite desserts. I ordered it online and yesterday on Easter 4/5/26 they arrived at my aunts doorstep. They were shocked by the gesture and could not believe how succulent and delicious the cupcakes were and my uncle ate his whole cookie. It warmed my heart to do something nice for them and that now they will be back as loyal customers for the delicious treats. Plus the lady I spoke with on the phone making sure everything was correct could not have been any nicer. Thank you for making this a truly special one for my family and for myself as well. read more

GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY!!!! There's cupcakes and there's CUPCAKES. I've tried other establishments that were featured on Cupcake Wars before and was disappointed. But not today. We visited this place twice in TWO days. Don't judge us. As self-described foodie enthusiasts and Yelper, we feel compelled to do some " research" and are sacrificing our waistlines for your sake. Some of the cupcakes we have sampled: Confetti cake - granddaughter ate this 2 days in a row. Chocolate peanut butter, tres leches, Boston creme, crème brûlée, triple decadence and red velvet. . We bought these cupcakes in the evening. Oftentimes when you grab cupcakes that late they tend to dry out. These were moist and yummy. The bakery has 3 swings that you could sit on to take pictures and the space is decorated like a " Cupcake Classroom or " Laboratory " The only downside is this place is so far away from home! read more

Cute little cupcake shop with so many flavor options. The cupcakes were also decorated so pretty they all were so scrumptious looking. We tried the cake, batter, cupcake, and the peach cobbler. The cake batter was actually filled. That was a fun surprise. The peach ol cobbler was also filled and omg- it was the best cupcake I've ever had. I wish I could've taken home a few more but my waist would've hated me. If you're ever by one of these, definitely stop and and DEFINITELY get the peach cobbler. read more

To go off my theme in creating reviews for people looking for a place to be productive, this place does it. The atmosphere here is beautiful. It gives off wooden Winnie the Poo tree house vibes. There's even a swing for you near the counter. Wonderful seating with views of the city and across the street from a dog park. Now onto the star of the show.... their cupcakes. Truly delicious and one of a kind. The staff was very friendly. Here is what I had: Creme Brulee Cupcake: PLEASE GET THIS!!!! Light vanilla cake with a custard filling. The top is hard with caramelized sugar that cracks as you enter your first bite. Peach Cobbler Cupcake: Surprisedly I expected a very sweet taste like the pie, but this is very light. I am not hit by the sugary feeling. I think it is amazing as someone who prefers the lighter end of sweet things. There is a peach cobbler filling and honestly not overbearing at all. Way to represent my love for peaches coming from The Peach State. Blueberry Cheesecake Cupcake: Nice and basic. Taste exactly as it says. Reliable and safe. Tres Leches Cupcake: PLEASE GET THIS!!!! Moist and delicate of milk. Comes in a unique cupcake holder. My goodness this was very enjoyable. To be honest, I want to try all the cupcakes. Let me tell you, I have eaten a lot of cupcakes from a lot of places. I have a bit of a cupcake obsession. The crème brûlée cupcake was the best cupcake I have ever eaten in the entirety of my 35 years on this earth. It was sheer perfection. I highly recommend the strawberry matcha latte as well. I was saddened by the fact that I ordered a s'mores cupcake but received a churro one. Even so, I could not give the store a poor rating. The friendliness of the workers and the exceptional quality of the food deserves recognition. read more

I love this place -- it's one of my go-tos, and I find myself coming back all the time. The cupcakes are consistently moist, flavorful, and beautifully done, with fillings and toppings that make them feel extra special. My favorites: Crème Brûlée Cupcake - light vanilla cake with a silky custard filling, topped with caramelized sugar that cracks perfectly with each bite. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I live right near this place and I stopped by to see what all the people were saying about her cupcakes. I found them to be dry and way too sugary!!! Nothing special here folks! I make better cupcakes at home. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm confused. Perhaps the kids enjoy all the sugar piled on top of even more sugar. I'm at a loss. I jest my honest opinion on this establishment. Unfortunately I don't recommend Mollys cupcakes. Don't bother. Many other choices throughout the city. Their cupcakes just weren't for me. I have tried them twice now and both times I was left disappointed. They're advertised as filled, but the ones we tried had barely any filling at all. The frosting also missed the mark; it didn't taste like buttercream, more like a light whipped topping. Honestly, even a basic boxed cake mix has more flavor and better texture than these. read more

Perfect quaint little cupcake place. Really cute, photogenic cupcakes and they offer a wide variety so you'll have a hard time deciding. They each had something special about them and the descriptions and little picture for each cupcake were super cute. They have swing seats (hurray) and interesting wall decorations (themed metal lunchbox collection) + a cupcake-science themed mural (didn't snap a pic srry) and even a sink right in the eating area to wash your hands after you dive into your cupcake. Very thoughtful. Service is pretty straightforward, they just package your cupcake for you. Very nice young ladies. I got the peach cobbler and the whipped cream on top was very light (positive) and kind of flavorless (ehh). But it was an enjoyable mouthful for the rest of the moist, sweet cupcake. The peach filling was cold inside and this is just personal opinion, but I think peach cobbler is best hot and this cupcake would've really been extra special had it been warm or something! But nothing against this place because I understand they're chilled to last longer but I think the cold canned peach taste didn't benefit this cupcake. However, there are so many more to choose from and the chocolate one seemed very decadent and was reviewed pretty highly by my mother lol. Def stop by and buy a reasonably priced + large cupcake as a sweet treat! read more

I've been to other Molly's cupcakes locations but hadn't been for years! My husband picked us up a butterscotch caramel cupcake and a French silk pie. They have a huge variety! You *cannot* visit Chicago without trekking over to Molly's! With an impressive array of inventive cupcake flavors and outstanding quality, Molly's easily ranks among the best bakeries in the city. Having frequented the shop possibly too many times, I have tried most of their cupcake flavors and none have disappointed. The cake is consistently moist and light, frosting soft and airy, and cupcake filling generous in the varieties that have it. My favorites include the peaches and cream, cake batter (filled with actual cake batter!), dulce de leche, and lemon, but you can't go wrong with any! They also offer vegan options that are excellent. Can't recommend Molly's enough- whether you're traveling from near or far, you won't regret paying a visit to this iconic spot! read more

Hi. I got cupcakes through TGTG and when I arrived they were two dozen without frosting. I "paid" for frosting as I was sharing them with a friend hospitalized at northwestern. It was Valentine's Day weekend and I figured the care team at northwestern would enjoy them. First, your staffer didn't charge me full price for the frosting. Decided to stop by and grab a cupcake after seeing a sign outside about them on Cupcake Wars and the cupcake did not disappoint! When I saw that they had a key lime flavor, I knew I had to try it! They had many other flavors that looked yummy as well. It was really good, the was a nice custard filling that was not too sweet or too tart. Great dessert spot!!! My friends and I stopped in on a Friday night around 9 and they still had plenty of options left. It wasn't crowded either and the staff gave great recommendations. We tried cake batter, peach cobbler, blueberry cheesecake and a chocolate cake truffle. My favorite was the blueberry cheesecake, the toppings on it made it so good along with the icing. I also loved the chocolate cake truffle; it was super rich and the perfect amount of chocolate to satisfy the craving I was having. My least favorite was the cake batter because I didn't realize it had whipped cream icing on it. I also thought it was airier than the blueberry cheesecake which was denser. It was so hard to make a decision when I was ordering, so I can't wait to go back and eventually try all the flavors. read more

I don't know who Molly is but she makes some damn good cupcakes!! We got the crème brûlée and tiramisu and the crème brûlée was definitely our favorite! The tiramisu would've been better if it was sweeter, but it was more on the bitter chocolate side. Both cupcakes were perfectly moist and soft. I wish we got more flavors to try! Will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Chicago. Parking is hard so I just got dropped off and ran in real quick. Service is fast so it's not a problem. read more

Seriously, Molly's has to be my favorite cupcake shop in the Greater Chicagoland area. When I visit any of their locations I always feel like a kid, except I have my own money to spend! LOL! The River East (Streeterville) location is near my workplace where I can easily stop by before my drive home. However, depending on the time of day, you have to hunt for a park. Well today, I had some afternoon PTO, and while driving in the area, there were two parking spaces available. I was quick to grab one! Although it's the beginning of March, the flavor of the month carried over from Valentine's Day. The first option was the VelvetBerry Cheesecake, which has red velvet cake with cheesecake baked inside, plus strawberry cream cheese frosting and topped with dehydrated strawberry powder. I don't like red velvet cake of any sort, so I skipped that one. The second option and the one I choose was the Berry-In Luv, which has strawberry cake, white chocolate mousse filling dipped in ruby chocolate ganache, topped with a strawberry buttercream frosting and a red heart! Yes it was a lot going on, but my tastebuds were super happy. I got 3 more traditional cupcakes for my home. The Peach Cobbler - you can never go wrong with this cupcake. No matter how many I purchase, I always get this one. LOL! I also got the hubby the Cookies and Cream and Samoa. All in all, my afternoon was joyous because I was able to get a great parking spot and visit my favorite cupcake shop! read more

Ordered a few cupcakes for a morning happy birthday surprise. Got the Peanutbutter Nutella , Creme Crme Brûlée. Absolutely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that they had the option to add the small happy birthday sign and a small candle. That saved me another trip to the store and the price was fair. The packaging was sturdy and the cupcakes made it intact, they survived Uber eats delivery!! Peanutbutter Nutella was good but Creme Crme Brûlée was the star ! This was an online delivery order I placed. I'm nowhere near Chicago so really crossing my fingers hoping these won't be a disappointment. This review was not based on taste, but how the product was delivered and quality. I ordered a dozen of mix cupcakes and half dozen chocolate strawberries for my Godson's birthday. First off these cupcakes were package in some cheap grocery plastic and the strawberries looked nothing like the website picture. I also ordered and paid for the card assuming it would actually be on a card, candle, and topper. Candle and topper never arrived. The card I paid for was horribly written on an index looking card. Miss Molly: Molly's Cupcakes was founded in 2007. It was named after my third-grade teacher. Whenever one of us had a birthday, she would bake us cupcakes. I still remember how good they were. She had her own special recipe for chocolate and vanilla. Just about everyone who tries them thinks they're the best cupcakes ever! Our Mission: In honor of Molly and as a way to help our children, a portion of our profits is donated directly to schools in our community. Every time you eat a cupcake or sip a latte, you help our kids. So eat up!

This location in particular had a lot of seating, as well, and is also accessible from the Northwestern Med building or from the street! I especially loved the Cookie Monster cupcake. Vanilla cake with a chocolate chip cookie baked at the bottom, with chocolate buttercream. I think. It was DELICIOUS! The perfect sweet treat!

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

The scones were excellent! Massive in size, they had a nice tender and crumbly texture, as well as plenty of fillings (so to speak). The cappuccino was fine, not as smooth as I like, but the terrific scones made it well worth the trip. The space is well laid out with multiple tables. None were taken at the time, as people were getting to go orders instead. I thought prices were reasonable: each scone was $5, which seemed fair given how large and high quality they were (not to mention the higher prices I'm seeing in some newer bakeries in the area). Other offerings looked good, too, but this is definitely the place to go if you're craving scones.

The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.
