I live Uptown & this location opened at 9, so I came in this morning to grab TONS of treats for the teachers and staff at my son's High School. Today is Parent/Teacher conference day, and although his grades are amazing & technically they don't need to see me, I wanted to do something special for them. He's a Senior and graduates this May. The staff were SO kind & super helpful!! The young lady at the counter (Crystal) helped me choose a variety of treats and even congratulated me on his graduation. Crème brûlée was a 7.5/10. The sugar coating was a little too sweet, but I loved the crunch it gave and the cream in the middle was so good. Blueberry cheesecake gets an 8/10 overall. I didn't love the graham cracker because it had a strong buttery taste, but I get that it's needed to hold it together. Without that, it would've been a 9/10. The cheesecake topping tasted almost like custard and paired well with the blueberry cupcake base. Chocolate sea salt caramel... 10/10. This might actually be one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. Rich chocolate cake, caramel sauce in the middle, buttercream that wasn't too sweet, and the salt on top tied everything together perfectly. Peach cobbler was insane. 1000/10. It tasted like pumpkin pie and apple pie combined, probably from all the cinnamon. Not overly sweet, super light cream, and just perfection. Definitely worth the hype. The chocolate sea salt caramel and peach cobbler might actually be the best cupcakes I've ever had. read more

We made a quick stop into Mollyss Cupcakes on our walk to the Navy Pier. The staff was friendly and the shop was cute and inviting. There are swings at the bar for seating, games all around and a chalkboard for customers to write messages. They have so many different and unique varieties of cupcakes and coffee drinks. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I live right near this place and I stopped by to see what all the people were saying about her cupcakes. I found them to be dry and way too sugary!!! Nothing special here folks! I make better cupcakes at home. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm confused. Perhaps the kids enjoy all the sugar piled on top of even more sugar. I'm at a loss. I didn't realize this location Molly's Cupcakes was here until I came to a concert at the jazz club on the other side of the building. Since I left the fam to attend the concert I decided to get them a cupcake as a treat. The store is very spacious but unless I missed something it's not accessible (there were five of six steps to get to the main floor of the place). There's lots of seating though. The cupcakes were ok. The ones I bought for seemed to enjoy them. For me, they were just alright; I have enjoyed the cupcakes I make more than these ones. But mine also aren't filled with stuff inside which I think at least one of these was. There's no dedicated parking, and street parking is generally going to be iffy. read more

Molly's Cupcakes in Chicago is hands down some of the best cupcakes I've had in a long time. I tried the tres leches and the saffron rose cupcakes. The saffron rose was incredible, tasting just like a Persian rose cake with delicate floral notes and a creamy filling that balanced the flavors perfectly. The tres leches was rich, moist, and exactly like traditional tres leches cake, not too sweet and perfectly indulgent. Each bite was full of flavor and you could tell everything is made with care. I ordered three crème brûlée cupcakes and one oatmeal cookie for my aunt's and uncle for Easter. I live in CA and they live in Chicago and wanted to do something special for them because oatmeal cookies and crème brûlée is their favorite desserts. I ordered it online and yesterday on Easter 4/5/26 they arrived at my aunts doorstep. They were shocked by the gesture and could not believe how succulent and delicious the cupcakes were and my uncle ate his whole cookie. It warmed my heart to do something nice for them and that now they will be back as loyal customers for the delicious treats. Let me tell you, I have eaten a lot of cupcakes from a lot of places. I have a bit of a cupcake obsession. The crème brûlée cupcake was the best cupcake I have ever eaten in the entirety of my 35 years on this earth. It was sheer perfection. I highly recommend the strawberry matcha latte as well. I was saddened by the fact that I ordered a s'mores cupcake but received a churro one. Even so, I could not give the store a poor rating. I am not hit by the sugary feeling. I think it is amazing as someone who prefers the lighter end of sweet things. There is a peach cobbler filling and honestly not overbearing at all. I got the peach cobbler and the whipped cream on top was very light (positive) and kind of flavorless (ehh). But it was an enjoyable mouthful for the rest of the moist, sweet cupcake. The peach filling was cold inside and this is just personal opinion, but I think peach cobbler is best hot and this cupcake would've really been extra special had it been warm or something! But nothing against this place because I understand they're chilled to last longer but I think the cold canned peach taste didn't benefit this cupcake. However, there are so many more to choose from and the chocolate one seemed very decadent and was reviewed pretty highly by my mother lol. First off these cupcakes were package in some cheap grocery plastic and the strawberries looked nothing like the website picture. I also ordered and paid for the card assuming it would actually be on a card, candle, and topper. Candle and topper never arrived. The card I paid for was horribly written on an index looking card. Seriously, Molly's has to be my favorite cupcake shop in the Greater Chicagoland area. When I visit any of their locations I always feel like a kid, except I have my own money to spend! LOL! The River East (Streeterville) location is near my workplace where I can easily stop by before my drive home. However, depending on the time of day, you have to hunt for a park. Well today, I had some afternoon PTO, and while driving in the area, there were two parking spaces available. I was quick to grab one! Although it's the beginning of March, the flavor of the month carried over from Valentine's Day. The first option was the VelvetBerry Cheesecake, which has red velvet cake with cheesecake baked inside, plus strawberry cream cheese frosting and topped with dehydrated strawberry powder. I don't like red velvet cake of any sort, so I skipped that one. The second option and the one I choose was the Berry-In Luv, which has strawberry cake, white chocolate mousse filling dipped in ruby chocolate ganache, topped with a strawberry buttercream frosting and a red heart! Yes it was a lot going on, but my tastebuds were super happy. I got 3 more traditional cupcakes for my home. The Peach Cobbler - you can never go wrong with this cupcake. No matter how many I purchase, I always get this one. LOL! I also got the hubby the Cookies and Cream and Samoa.
