So let me first start out, Kort has one of the best customer service & sweetest personality I've ever met. Beautiful designs and love the work behind his business! When it comes to scheduling, Kort and his team also has your back! Super friendly and generous too! This is beyond any customer service or any bakery I've ever been to with such a good service. I'm blown away by him and his team. Thank you so much for making my cake on such short notice & all the time changes. I ordered a strawberry shortcake w/ vanilla buttercream cake last year and it was so beautiful too; very simple yet intricate and lovely design with roses & macaroons. I told him on short notice(literally the day of) to make the cake & he managed to make it look so beautiful. The pink cake was my first cake I've ever purchased from him, a bit out of my price range, but I heard his cakes were good! So if I was rating on design, 11/10, it's top notch! The flavor wasn't perfect for my family. I had put the cake in the fridge and when I went to cut it; it was super hard and it wasn't pleasant. The flavor was missing something and we really didn't do much with the cake. I've always put cake in the fridge and I should've asked before I left, but I didn't. So I told Kort(Owner) about the cake and he offered to compensate me a new cake which a year later; I got this cake for my mom! So today; we celebrated my moms birthday which is on Friday. I ordered basically the same cake since my mom really enjoys fruit / strawberry cake. I ordered with him one week prior (Jan 28)to my moms birthday(Feb 7th ) to make this cake. Initially it's scheduled to be picked up on the 7th, but I told him I needed the cake by the 6th: time rolled around and the day before I celebrated my moms birthday; she said we were celebrating it on the 5th. So the night before that, I told him I needed the cake by the 5th and he managed ONCE again t make this cake on such a tight schedule. I know I haven't been the best customer, but I really appreciate his efforts to make things right & helping us create something beautiful for my mom's birthday. The cake is the same, but I think there's a custard-curd filling which my family really enjoyed. A strawberry shortcake with vanilla buttercream. It was maybe a bit sweet, cake was dense a little bit, but that's okay! We've never had cream like this before, and it was strange to begin with, but it's super creamy and tasty!! Flavor was pretty good! My family really enjoyed lit and really loved the artwork(flowers) as decorations. I didn't put the cake in the fridge and I'm glad it turned out well! We didn't see how the cake looked like until we opened the box, so it was such a beautiful surprise to look at the lovely cake. Everything's fresh, even the flowers, and designs; so beautiful work I'm super impressed with how it turned out & i would definitely go back to Kort for cakes especially for his customer service & his gorgeous designs. :) Design : 11/10! Taste/Texture: 9/10 Customer service : 15/10 if I could! To sum up, it was a beautiful cake, beautiful even layers, beautiful designs, and I loved it. Thank you for making my mom's birthday a blast! Ordered a cake during the pandemic for my wife's birthday. Go to pick it up, and the guy pulls out a box from the freezer willy-nilly. Puts the box on the counter and says here you. Nothing else. I figure okay, must be in the box wrapped or protected. Wrong! Just a cake loosely thrown in a cardboard box to float around. After panicking & realizing I didn't make arrangements for my wife's bday in due time Bjorn came in quite clutch for me. The cakes are extremely expensive but the taste & quality are damn near worth it. I ordered a "marble orchid" cake & chose red velvet as a flavor. You can add extra things such as nutella so I have to admit the flavors are unique & original. The online ordering process was straightforward & tbh pretty damn effortless. Oh my soo yummy!!! We had our small wedding on July 5th 2021 and we got a red velvet cake. We had party of about 20 and the 6 or 8 inch (can't remember) cake was perfect. We even have left overs for later. It arrived on time. They put way more flowers on top then I was expecting. It looked great. Also the icing had a lemon zing to it!!! DISASTER DISASTER DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. I Repeat, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! Let me start off by saying that whenever you call them on the phone, they're always rushing. I placed an order for a custom made cake for my nephew 1 week ahead. E-mailed them the picture of the cake, details and modifications. Called many times just to make sure. So.. pick up was supposed to be at 2pm, so I gave them a call at 11.30 am just to see if cake was ready. They said it would be ready in 30 mins. Got to the bakery at 1 pm. Waited for almost 30 mins only to be disappointed by how the cake looked like. Faaaaaaaaaaar from the picture that I sent them. The color was off, letterings was off, and just how the cake looked so sloppy!!!! When we got home the cake started fallimg apart. We tasted it maybe to give another chance but it was aweful!!!!! They were quick to respond, very friendly and were so flexible with the customizations! They do delivery, the handoff was super friendly, quick and efficient. We did a wedding cake tasting with Bjorn Cakes and were so incredibly impressed with the aesthetic of the cakes here. The tasting was beautifully set up, and we tried four flavors: champagne, strawberry shortcake, chocolate, and lemon. Unlike other tastings, we tasted actual mini cakes which was great to get an idea of what the final product would look like. My fiancé, who's normally very picky with sweets, loved three out of the four! And we were both blown away by the ingredients used. The champagne cake had a filling, frosting, and crusted sugar on top, and the chocolate cake had ganache in the middle in addition to caramel and buttercream filling. So I thought I would get the same experience with another cake for my husbands birthday. Except I ordered the chocolate due to my husband being allergic to strawberries. After seeing my initial review, the owner of Bjorn Cakes reached out to apologize for the fact that I wasn't happy with my birthday cake and offered to make me a new one. The fact that they read and took my review seriously was nice to see and the offer to make me an entirely new cake was not only gracious, but also showed that they go above and beyond to provide a great customer service and ensure customers are satisfied. The new cake was #4 Champagne Celebration-Champagne cake filled with either vanilla bean pastry cream and strawberries or creme brûlée. Ordered our wedding cakes from Bjorn Cakes and I was really happy with how they turned out and how flexible Kort was with our kind of last minute changes. First things first - the tasting. We chose to try out membrillo, lemon, ghirardelli chocolate, coconut cakes filled with lemon curd, passion fruit curd cream cheese, and dulce de leche. I was surprised that we didn't get slices of cakes but instead beautiful little cakes. Awesome presentation. As an aside, at least when we went to visit his shop it was actually rented space downstairs from a chocolate shop. So while the setting itself wasn't anything glamorous, we were there for awesome cake, nothing else. I also appreciated that he wrote to confirm our appointment the day before. When a vendor didn't confirm with me a day before a tasting or visit it made me a bit worried that they'd forgotten about me. We ended up going with a membrillo cake with whipped cream cheese italian buttercream, coconut cake with dulce de leche and a vegan vanilla/vanilla gluten free cake. HOWEVER, while we started out the wedding planning as vegetarians leaning vegan, we decided to try and veganize as much of our wedding as possible a couple of months prior to the wedding. Kort worked with us and let us know what would and wouldn't be possible. We ended up with two vegan cakes. The membrillo cake as a vegan cake was DELICIOUS. I didn't try the non-vegan coconut/dulce de leche cake because the last thing I needed was to be sick on my wedding night, but many people said that while they were both delicious they actually preferred the vegan membrillo cake! Talent! Kort also drove our cakes over from Chicago and I was really impressed/happy with how much care he took. It was a hot day and he was very worried about how they would hold up. I wasn't totally privy to the conversations but I know he communicated his concern to my wedding planner who moved up the cake cutting in the schedule. Anyway. Great cakes. I planned a birthday for my mother in Chicago from my home in Oklahoma, so all coordination was done via email. When I say Kort and peers made this the most painless, effortless process possible for me, I mean that. There is so much I want to say, but I don't know where to begin. I ordered from Bjorn cake at the last minute and they were able to fill my order for the next day for my twins birthday. They were easy to work with and VERY accommodating--allowing me to make adjustments. They texted me as promised when the cake was ready and sent a picture. The cake was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! My only big complaint is that the "cake to filling ratio" is off. There is WAY too much butter cream cheese frosting and not enough cake-- although I will say it was tasty.
