Finally Stopped by to check out this place after walking by many times. The staff is very friendly and helpful with information and it is pet friendly. The space is very nicely decorated with few tables if you wish to dine in. They offer macaron, cupcakes, cookies/brownies and coffee/tea drinks in the store. I got the banana banana and the cinnamon carrot cupcakes and a dirty chai to go. I honestly did not have high hopes for the cupcakes as I have tried many that had rave reviews that end up being dry, too sweet or simply not worth the dollars and calories. I was pleasantly surprised! Both cupcakes were moist, spongey with good flavors. The best part is that the icing were just the right sweetness (also with a lighter consistency, not heavy at all) and a lovely balance for the cake portion. I have a sweet tooth so big, it's job security for my dentist. At the same time, I'm trying to watch my figure ('trying' being the operative term). With this in mind, it frustrates me to no end when most sweet shops have massive cookies, pastries, et al. Enter Sugar Bliss. One of the things I adore about Sugar Bliss is that they offer bite-sized items (such as mini cupcakes and macarons). For those with a larger appetite, there are full-sized sweets. I also really admire that the prices seem reasonable. One of the weak points, however, is the quality. Don't get me wrong, the Macaron and Mini-Cupcake I had were fine, but only just. The Passion Fruit Macaron had a flavorful filling, but didn't have that signature biphasic texture, instead being consistently firm throughout. Similarly, the Key Lime Mini Cupcake delivered on key lime flavors, but the texture of the dough wasn't as light and airy as is found with phenomenal cupcakes. Finally, the vibe inside is modern, light, and cute, and the service was kind. I had a sweet tooth and it was downstairs of the Palmer hotel. The sweet concierge woman took me down she was buying an apple pie as she showed me to the train station. I walked in with her and was delighted on how clean and modern it was inside. The employees were kind and greeted me with a smile. I purchased The lemon drop cupcake Apple pie cupcake Yellow cupcake with chocolate cream on top And a caramel cupcake On the video I tried the lemon and it is a must have. I've been on the hunt for the best cupcakes in Chicago and was intrigued by the shop's impressive variety of baked goods. The mini cupcake offerings were particularly exciting and seemed ideal for when you can't commit to just one flavor! The shop was a bit messy with boxes covering the tables and blocking the windows, giving the impression that the shop is more of a to-go operation. I ordered the mini chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and an oatmeal raisin macaron. The frosting and cake texture were perfectly soft and moist, but the pastry overall was a bit flavorless. We purchased a strawberry and a chocolate ..... the strawberry was over baked and completely dried out..... quite frankly, it did not taste like strawberry at all....it was more like a dry pound cake. .. chocolate was better but slightly bland. Took a little visit to this place during the work day. It's a super cute shop with coffee, macaroons (spelling?), cupcakes and more. The staff are super friendly and even though we came in as a big group, helped each of us with care. They also have a small seating area which was able to still accommodate a group of 8. Staying in the hotel that this place uses street level space at, it was a treat to be able to see this upon entry and exit. You could also do some window shopping while on the street and see everything they had to offer. I didn't really get to do much in here but I was able to try some of their treats. I was able to give their cookies a try. I was impressed with how massive the cookies were and how well decorated they were. It was almost a crime to eat it, but a cookie is a cookie. It was your basic sugar cookie, cut into a design, and then impeccable decorated. Mine, if I remember correctly, was a turtle and I felt bad having to break off piece after piece and consume it all. This was a location where I visited that was on a food tour. They served a number of homemade sweets that included brownies, cupcakes, cake pops, macarons, etc. I had a 7-layer brownie. It was a brownie bar layered with chocolate chips, coconut, butterscotch chips, graham crackers, white chocolate chips, and condensed milk. With so much going on, it was somewhat plain. It was also a little dry. I think the presence of the graham crackers helped attribute to the dryness factor. I was hoping for more of a flavor punch given the number of ingredients present, but that was not the case. Will I go back? Unlikely. read more

When I came in, I was greeted pretty much immediately, and the employee walked me through the various flavors. I'm not a macaron gal, but their other main item is their cupcakes. I got six mini-cupcakes: Chocolate caramel, key lime, something coconut, margarita, and strawberry. The key lime was probably my least favorite; I didn't taste anything akin to a key lime flavor, even in the frosting. The chocolate caramel was my favorite--I got one for each of us to have individually, and we shared the others. The chocolate-based cupcakes were the best ones that they had in my opinion. The vanilla ones were pretty disappointing, and just didn't have a great flavor. Having said that, I totally tasted the margarita in the margarita cupcake! In addition to the macaroons and cupcakes, they sell some individually wrapped cookies, Rice Krispie treats, and the like near the register, and you can also get your cup of Joe (or tea) here if you wish. read more

Since they're so expensive I wish they could justify the price. The mini red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting (I'm a red velvet enthusiast) was not very good. I hadn't been here before, but after calling around, the staff (particularly Isabella) at Sugar Bliss was the most helpful and friendly so I placed my order with them. I had many details to add and was sure they were tired of me calling back to: add a particular note to the order, draw a certain picture on the cake, add a certain color ribbon to match client's logo.....Anyhow, they accommodated my requests happily and cheerfully! Sugar Bliss is located right in the heart of The Loop, a truly prime spot. When we walked in on a Saturday afternoon, the display case was nearly empty with only 1.5 shelves out of 4 stocked. I only wanted a small treat so I asked for two minis at $1.75 a piece. Apparently they only come in boxes of 4 or 6, so I bumped my order up to 4. I was a little annoyed, because if SB is only going to sell these minis in larger quantities, the menu should reflect this instead of stating individual prices. 4 cupcakes ended up costing me $7.50, which is pretty steep. When I questioned the lady about what the flavors of the minis were she dryly said "they're the same as the big cupcakes...." Super snippy, especially considering that there were different mini cupcakes then big cupcakes. In my box I got: -Chocolate on Chocolate: My personal fave. Moist cake and a fudgy frosting in a cute floral shape; no complaints here! -Red Velvet: The cake was so DRY and completely flavorless! Great cream cheese frosting though. -Banana Peanut Butter: Again, so DRY! Rich peanut butter frosting on top. -Chocolate Toffee: Why did it have Peppermint Frosting? I'm wondering if the frosting for the Peppermint Chocolate mini was mixed up with the plain chocolate frosting for the Chocolate Toffee mini? Moist cake, but the only Toffee was the sprinkling on top... and it didn't go well with peppermint frosting. Overall, not my favorite cupcake shop in the city.
