oreo mint brownie blizzard bar (SOOO GOOD)
    Grace X.

It's actually INSANE how delicious these frozen dessert bars are. First off, the guy who helped me (the owner's husband) was so friendly and attentive as soon as I walked in. He told me he recommended I get a bar as they are the most popular offering and showed me the flavors they had for the day and let me try a sample of one of them. I ended up opting for an oreo mint brownie blizzard bar and it was HEAVENLY. I had a ~25 minute walk back to my hotel so the bar had melted a tiny bit around the edges by the time I got back so it was a little messy to eat, but still ridiculously delicious. Honestly one of the best desserts of my life. I was told the best way to eat the bars is to pick them up like an ice cream sandwich so that is what I did. Everything they make is vegan and gluten free and the bars have 15g protein according to the website! Update: I came back to try another bar, this time I got the double pb cup caramel cookie bar as recommended by the owner and it was somehow EVEN BETTER than the first one I had. Their pb cup tastes better than I remember Reese's tasting back before I went vegan. I also got to chat with the owner and she was incredibly nice. Highly highly recommended this place to everyone! I genuinely think these might be the best desserts I've ever had.

Ingrained is a rare find! It's really great to have a healthier sweet treat spot with such a wide variety of dietary-friendly finds. From keto cookies to homemade peanut and cashew butter cups, there's something for everyone. The house specialty, however, is their massive selection of vegan "ice-cream"-like bars which are mostly high protein and made with clean ingredients. Almost everything is gluten and dairy-free as well. I ordered the cookie butter caramel brownie bar and enjoyed it. It was definitely very sweet and satisfied my dessert craving. I didn't feel that the flavors were particularly strong and didn't taste the cookie butter, but I enjoyed the gooey texture and melted ice-cream effect from the date syrup. Also, all of the products are made in-house with rotating flavors. The prices are quite high, but it would take a lot of money, time, and effort at home to recreate the treats. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and encourage folks to pay this small but mighty business a visit!

The first time I came here was on my birthday. The guy who took our order was so nice and mentioned that they are known for their ice cream bars. Well, I think they should be known for the banana bread cup. It was freaking deliciousness in a bite. The second time I came, I got the cookie dough cup. It was yummy but it didn't beat the banana bread one. That's the best thing i've had there. It was nice that they ave us water cups and let me use a knife so I could share with my friends.

Stopped by again to pick up more and the owners remembered us which is nice. We tried two new flavors and got the Brownie bar again: - Slutty Brownie bar - Banana Cream Pie bar - Wild Berry Matcha Cheesecake bar It might be just because I like bananas but, the Banana Cream Pie bar is my new favorite. I'm not the biggest fan of matcha, but my girlfriend recommends it if you do and it's in stock. 10/10 across the board.

Honestly impressed. Swung by because I wanted a post-workout snack and was not disappointed. Flavors are thoughtful and balance well. The bars feel grounded and like you're having real food. Folks were super friendly and had a brief chat with the person that created them. Cute shop too! Coming back this evening for more lol. I got the carrot cake (tasted like fall!) and cookie/coffee flavor.

Beautiful shop, tasty snacks, amazing people! We stopped by for a Twix Ice cream bar, and a pb cup. We left with samples! They are so sweet!!We came in with our babygirl and they offered her some bites and offered us samples of one of their ice creak bars! They are super friendly and professional! I wish I knew sooner about this place! Will definitely visit soon again! Their prices seem fair to me, the snacks are a good size and so tasty!! Extremely healthy at that! Thank you guys :) Wish you the best!

Cool little bakery that specializes in plant based and raw foods. Ingrained is limited in both the space and hours. Mostly this is just a place to come in and take it out. Also has dining but it's pretty limited to get in. The flatbreads are good but the sweets are what people like most about it though. Bakeries are usually pretty tough for vegans to buy things at. It's hard to find things without eggs and milk. This place though has these types of things. All kinds. There's the little bite sized treats. If those aren't enough, you can get one of the pies. There was an Oreo and Reese's flavored one that was the shizz. Has more than just desserts of course. There's also the flatbreads that are good if you like pizza. Has a lot to choose from in this small bakery. It's usually only open from the late afternoon to evening. This is a good bakery if looking for something gluten free or for vegans.

Ingrained is truly one of a kind. As a dietitian, finding places that actually care about the quality of the ingredients and the nutrient density is near impossible. I have been coming here for over 5 years and have never gotten something that wasn't delicious. It is truly a unicorn of an establishment!

    Life changing secret salad

Have you ever been so taken care of and loved? Sure you expect it from family and friends but when a local restaurant feels like home you know it's special. Syd and Andrew actually reach out and tailor food to YOU! Where else do you get that homemade, love-filled, fresh and healthy food!! I told my bf about the beet and sweet potato soup and he said, "everything they do hits." He can be a healthy eater skeptic but LOVES this life giving food. I check daily for secret salads, savory and other sweet treats. And they know what i love and/or reach out to make it extra special!!! Last night i had a 12+ hour travel day but after some ingrained i felt so much healthier and happier setting up for a perfect week- oh and i slept better! I can't recommend ingrained enough - try it all. High quality, fresh, healthy food you can trust. And ACCESSIBLE for everyone, even healthy eater skeptics ;)

The spicy chicken sandwich $21 was extremely soggy and chewy, and their "spicy" part is just hot sauce. It had no flavor. It was such a disappointment. Service (1/5): There was a guy and a girl working and the girl was on coffee duty, while the guy was just taking orders and talking about lotion and soft hands. It was so weird. It's a mom-and-pops shop through and through- you'll see homely decor, a simple but well done menu, and people from all walks of life coming together over delicious food. The staff was warm and attentive throughout the meal and brought out delicious complimentary french bread. It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken. For the price, this place is a steal- you really can't beat the quantity and quality of food that you get. Overall, a great experience- I definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area!

The Michelin inspectors do not have Homeslice on their list, and you know something, that's okay. What the slice does do spectacularly well is their vibes. It's very much a laid back, beachy, sunny, summery, tropical, pineapple in almost all drinks sort of deal. Even the mojito was made with a splash of pineapple, because 'why not'? If Spongebob can make his home out of one, then I can have it in a cocktail without complaining. That said, unless you order straight whiskey or draught beer, the drinks are going to run on the sweeter side. In terms of the food, I was able to try the Nadene personal pizza, Burrata, and the Jalapeno homies. Everything across the board was fresh and rock solid. The Nadene pizza had wonderful heat, savoriness, and herbiness as well as a little sweetness from the hot honey (note to self= ask for extra next time). Jalapeno homies were perfect for those who like some heat in their lives, with cream cheese and veggies to take the edge off. The burrata was a great appetizer, but is better for groups, that one doesn't fill up on bread. While a little tomato would have been nice, I come back to this not being a fancy Italian restaurant. Something that really sets Homeslice apart is the service. Everyone from the host stand to the bar servers is very welcoming, friendly, and chill. Food comes out reasonably fast, too. Finally, when it comes to value, at Homeslice it is pretty average: not a steal, but by no means a ripoff, either. Final verdict: There are some places that are better experienced with a group of homies, and Homeslice is one such place. While the food is designed more for groups, the vibe will invite you in all the same, and whisk you away to some tropical place, a welcome escape, especially during a brutal Chicago winter.

Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option.
