Broadway Cafe is one of those places that I could easily have missed if I hadn't heard about it…read more And I'm glad I did, because this little spot is worth stopping by. It's small and has that neighborhood sandwich shop feel, built more for a quick, good meal than a fancy sit-down experience. I could see the kitchen right from the front, including the fresh bread being made, which give the place a really nice old-school feel. The staff were also super welcoming and easy to talk to. I ordered the ham sub, and when I opened the bag, I was honestly shocked at how packed it was. There was a generous amount of ham along with lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes, and cheese. The ham had that savory flavor I always wanted from a good deli sandwich, while the cheese added a creamy richness that made each bite a little better. The pickles and onions brought some sharpness and crunch, and the tomatoes and lettuce kept everything fresh. The mayo tied it all together. And the bread was fresh, soft, and had just enough chew to hold everything together without falling apart. This was exactly what I want from a really good classic ham sub.

She added it. ‍ I said again I wanted to add it and she was confused. Whatever. Now we wait for two breakfast sandwiches. It's clean, small, unassuming. Closer look at the beautiful bakery case and there are flies. This was a bad idea. 3-5 mins for breakfast sandwiches and we are over 10 already.

DELICIOUS.... EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!…read more First... I was incredibly stressed out running through the hotel trying to find a quiet place to get online for a meeting. I was an absolute mess dropping phones, my calendar, my mouse... just looking completely flabbergasted! I somewhat "fell" into Sugar Bliss asking if I could come in and sit for this meeting and the manager invited me in! My AirPods weren't working and my WiFi had disconnected... so she came over and asked if she could help. She was AMAZING, even offering to turn down the music so I could just use my laptop speakers. She was so helpful, but I ended up having to talk about a client, so I excused myself. After my meeting, I came back in and she was still there. I bought some delicious mini cupcakes and headed out the door, thanking them for the amazing service and being so helpful when I was a hot mess!

The space is very nicely decorated with few tables if you wish to dine in. They offer macaron, cupcakes, cookies/brownies and coffee/tea drinks in the store. I got the banana banana and the cinnamon carrot cupcakes and a dirty chai to go. I honestly did not have high hopes for the cupcakes as I have tried many that had rave reviews that end up being dry, too sweet or simply not worth the dollars and calories. I was pleasantly surprised! Both cupcakes were moist, spongey with good flavors. The best part is that the icing were just the right sweetness (also with a lighter consistency, not heavy at all) and a lovely balance for the cake portion. The dirty chai was just okay, I personally wouldn't order it again. However, I will return for more cupcakes!

Both were delicious but I think I may go with a lighter drink next time. The display cases also had plenty of to go options and bakery items that I will venture into next time. Ordering is straight forward. The wait is not long and I had my order within a few minutes. I chose to sit outside and the tables were tidy and clean. There is also the option of sitting inside with a few tables between the counters and cases of merchandise and food items. I will add this to my rotation when I need a little treat outside of bringing my lunch to work.

I specifically wanted to stop here so that I could order a Freddo Cappuccino, as I hadn't had one since January, when I visited Greece. Shoutout to Nicolai the Barista for the excellent service.

My ULTIMATE fav was the raspberry sour cream ice cream bar. Delectable and perfect for those warmer days where you want a frozen/chilled treat. The chocolate chip cookie is so light, airy and the chocolate chips hits the palate perfect. The cake balls are simple, crunchy because of the sprinkles, and end with a luscious and creamy cashew style butter finish. A Taiwanese bakery. How could a place that loves Michael Jackson be bad?…read more Salted Egg Yolk Bolo Bun流心菠蘿麵包: Calling it "流心"(runny) isn't quite accurate; it's a bolo bun菠蘿包 (pineapple -shape bun) with a salted egg yolk filling, but it had an authentic, old-fashioned flavor that made me feel like back to childhood. The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

I wanted one last matcha in Chicago before flying out, and Sweet Bean was right around the corner…read morefrom our brunch spot. I can't speak for their pastries, but their matcha was pretty good! This bakery reminds me of other Asian chains like Paris Baguette or 85°. When you walk inside, you can see the different pastries on display, from sweet to savory. You can pick and choose and pay up front. They also have a menu board with a variety of drinks--caffeinated and non-caffeinated. The service was fine, with limited interaction. They also have seating inside, but it's a bit limited. I got an Iced Mango Pandan Matcha Latte with Soy Milk. The matcha quality was fine. It was sweet, and there was a good amount of mango. I didn't taste any pandan, though. Overall, it was a good drink. I recommend coming here for matcha if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Sweet Bean is a good spot in the Loop for matcha or Asian pastries. It's on the corner of Wabash Ave.
