I came across Sweet Shot Cookies on a cookie reviewer's Instagram, and what appealed to me were the stuffed cookies. I found my way to Sweet Shot Cookies' website and decided to get the OG 6 Pack Triple, which included double chocolate chip, s'mores, chocolate peanut butter + nutella, cinnamon sugar, PB&J, and funfetti. Not going to lie, the cookies I ordered were overall misses for me. As soon as the delivery arrived I had the s'mores and cinnamon sugar cookie straight out of the box. I did appreciate the packaging. The cookies were sealed securely, and none of them were broken. They tasted good, but I thought they were average at best. I was disappointed by how dense and hard they were, and the filling had seeped out of the s'mores. It was such a mess. I gave Sweet Shot Cookies the benefit of the doubt though. I assumed this happened during transit, plus it probably didn't help that it has been in the late 90s where I'm from in California. I really loved the stuffed cookies concept, and I had no doubt that Sweet Shot Cookies were better in-person when they're fresh. After my initial response, Hallie (the founder) reached out to me and offered to rectify my experience by reimbursing me AND sending me a fresh batch. I was really surprised by such kindness. I was so humbled that she went out of her way to do that, but most importantly I appreciated that she asked me questions to troubleshoot how to prevent similar issues from happening in the future. Not only was she so communicative and transparent, I felt that she was really trying to understand the situation rather than slap a band-aid on it. This spoke volumes to me of excellence in customer service. I was given the second chance to try out Sweet Shot Cookies, and I got to say that the first batch was a fluke, y'all. Sweet Shot Cookies are definitely the real deal! I sampled several of the cookies as soon as the package arrived in order to try them while fresh as possible. The s'mores cookie had redeemed itself! It was in perfect condition. The marshmallow filling was intact, and the cookie itself was ooey and gooey. I absolutely loved it, and I could easily put it in my top 5 of best s'mores cookies. Let me preface in saying that I don't particularly care much for funfetti/ sugar cookie with sprinkles. With that said, I didn't bother eating the butter sprinkle funfetti from the first order. I realized, however, that I did myself a disservice by not trying it. The butter sprinkle funfetti was actually my most favorite cookie of them all. It was so soft and buttery, and the iced filling was literally and figuratively icing on the cake. I felt like it was my birthday again. I also had the pleasure of trying the chocolate PB nutella, cinnamon cookie butter, sugar PB&J and triple chocolate. These cookies were equally as fantastic. They all tasted fresh, had soft and chewy textures, and maintained the integrity of their fillings. I can't wait to check out Sweet Shot Cookies next time I'm Chicago. Until then, I'll be looking forward to my next online order!

Cute little spot down Clark St. a bit past Wrigley Field!…read more I had the STRONGEST craving for cookies earlier this week and battled the blazing sun to walk here because of a random review that I saw haha. I ordered a chocolate chunk+ cookies & cream, and the lovely girl working the front (maybe the owner?) threw in a freebie sugar cookie! I've been eating these cookies for three days now because of how huge they are and the softness and flavor has held up perfectly despite me not storing them any special way! The chocolate chunk was my favorite! Adding a proper amount of salt to baked goods is often not utilized enough, but you could actually taste the salt in these cookies and it cut through the richness to add more depth! The sugar cookie was my second favorite, I feel like having a good simple cookie tells a lot about how solid the base dough is. If you love fresh soft cookies, I would keep walking past Insomniac 5 minutes away and come here instead!

I have been a regular customer of TOUS les JOURS and have purchased many cakes and pastries from…read morethem in the past, and I have always been happy with the quality. Unfortunately, my recent experience with a Heart Choco Cake from the Buffalo Grove location was extremely disappointing. The cake tasted and felt like it was old. The cake was very dry, and unfortunately, no one in my family was able to eat it. This was very different from the quality I have experienced from TOUS les JOURS previously. What was even more disappointing was how my concern was handled. I called the store to report the issue, expecting that they might at least want to understand what happened or inspect the cake. Instead, I was simply told that they could not do anything. I even offered to bring the cake back to the store so they could check it themselves. Only one slice had been cut, so there was still plenty of the cake available for them to inspect. As a long-time customer, I wasn't expecting anything unreasonable. I simply expected someone to take the complaint seriously, look at the product, and try to understand why the cake was so dry and seemingly not fresh. I understand that occasionally a product may not meet expectations, but customer service is especially important when a customer takes the time to report a genuine quality issue. Unfortunately, the response I received left me very disappointed. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and review both the quality-control process for cakes and how product complaints are handled. I have enjoyed many products from TOUS les JOURS in the past, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing.

We were craving scones on a Saturday morning, and after some research landed on Bake. Most bakeries…read morewe've found have "a" scone, but Bake's online menu had multiples: three sweet and a savory. So off I went. There was no wait when I arrived around 8:30 am. I chose a blueberry scone and a cheddar and onion scone. I was a tiny bit disappointed they didn't have the lemon scone I saw in their online order page, but the fruity blueberry option fit the bill. I also ordered a cappuccino to go. Service was good, and I really appreciated being asked if I wanted separate bags for the scones, which ensured the blueberry scone didn't pick up any oniony smell or flavor from the other scone. The scones were excellent! Massive in size, they had a nice tender and crumbly texture, as well as plenty of fillings (so to speak). The cappuccino was fine, not as smooth as I like, but the terrific scones made it well worth the trip. The space is well laid out with multiple tables. None were taken at the time, as people were getting to go orders instead. I thought prices were reasonable: each scone was $5, which seemed fair given how large and high quality they were (not to mention the higher prices I'm seeing in some newer bakeries in the area). Other offerings looked good, too, but this is definitely the place to go if you're craving scones.

Let me share a story about my husband's 52nd birthday. He's been on a keto diet for the past four years, and he wanted a cake for his birthday. This was all decided last minute when he decided he wanted a party and a keto cake for his birthday, with the party just three days away. I went into panic mode, I invited our friends, picked the place, and made the invitations, but then came the challenge of finding a keto cake for my husband for his birthday. I googled keto bakeries, and a couple popped up, but one was Skinny Piggy. I called a couple of different places, and unfortunately, they couldn't make the cake so Skinny. Pig was my last resort, so I emailed them, explaining the situation, and they said they weren't sure if they could do it for me, plus they mentioned that their deliveries for the day were full. If anything, they could make the cake, but it would be for the following day after his party, which I couldn't do. I asked wherever they could do would really be appreciated. Not only did they go above and beyond, but they made sure the cake was delivered the day of the party and on time. Monica at Skinny Pig not only made sure the cake was made properly but also added it to the delivery list to be delivered to the restaurant just enough time for my husband's birthday. I can't express how amazing Skinny Piggy is and how they went above and beyond for this experience. If you need a cake, just make sure you order a couple of days before the birthday. I highly recommend them, especially since I'm not on keto, but I did try the cake, and it was absolutely amazing. It was the lemon berry cake , and the cake was delicious. My husband ate most of it by himself the next couple of days, but overall, it was an experience I will never forget. Thank you so much, Skinny Piggy , and thank you, Monica, for going above and beyond. If you need a keto cake or any type of dessert, I highly recommend them.
