So, SO grateful that there's an actually good, quality crepe spot that's not outside of Chicago…read more This is the only creperie in the city that I would recommend for savory AND sweet crepes. The crepe itself is thin, tastes as such and when folded over, is dense. What makes this place different from others that I've been to is that the ingredients are layered between every fold, so you don't feel like you're eating just bread with a sparse amount of ingredients that feel more like decoration. I had the smoked salmon and berry cheesecake crepes; both I would wholly recommend. Just one crepe alone is filling; I took the sweet crepe home and it is just as good cold from being in the fridge as when it was served fresh. I also ordered the 12oz pistachio latte (yep, they serve coffee drinks!), but unfortunately, I would not recommend, only because I could not taste the pistachio in the latte at all. As for the eatery, it's quaintly nice and clean, yet a small space. They make the most of the seating though, as they have seating along the window facing the front of the building, two large tables and benches along the back wall that can seat 6-8 people comfortably, and at least 2 (might be more, but I saw only 2) small, round tables that can seat 2 per table further in the back. The customer service is very friendly and accommodating - I had my toddler in tow, and they were very patient with me while ordering and settling in at a table, and quickly provided me an extra plate. (There are no booster seats, FYI.) They even comped my drink when they saw how much I was dealing with when packing up to go, haha. (Thank you again to the staff!) I really hope this creperie sticks around, and I will be doing my part to help with that by visiting as much as possible and recommending to anyone who will listen.

There's currently no reliable way to place a to-go order ahead of time: their phone number isn't listed, the website advertises online ordering but it never seems to work, and the delivery apps are hit or miss at best. I'd honestly order from here a lot more often if I could easily place an order while out walking my dogs and pick it up later. Some items, like the breakfast wraps, take a bit to prepare, so without advance ordering I often end up going somewhere more convenient instead.

This review is only for the pistachio escargot (I neeeed to come back and try more items!!). The croissant dough was perfectly soft, buttery, flaky, and fresh. There was a plentiful amount of pistachio & chocolate filling as well. This thing is HUGE!! Honestly, $7 isn't a bad price for it considering how large it is. I would've loved to pick up 1 of everything but I'm trying to be kind to my waistline. I will certainly return to try more items! The pastry selection was pretty great for Thursday (around noon).

The box she gave us had so many treats so we got the chance to sample a lot from them! Here were some of my favorites: the honey cookie. I've never had these before and oh my gosh I've been missing out! These are so sweet, moist, and addictive! The baklava was also a huge hit. Flakey, sweet, and nutty. There was also a chocolate dipped baklava, which as a chocolate lover, I am sold on. Based off other reviews, it sounds like I need to come back and try the almond cookies!

Aww heck, they were all good, and so we look forward to checking out Lost Larson again soon.

Vegan ice cream say what? Yes yes yes! During a jaunt in Lincoln Square we spotted Vaca's Vegan…read moreCreamery, subtlely located just off the main street in a corner of the courtyard. Being plant based eaters, we rushed inside to investigate. The investigation results - yes. Just yes. Go here. Often. We tried some of the seasonal summer specials: -Mango sticky rice sundae: coconut sticky rice pudding topped with mango soft serve and condensed oat mylk sauce. Beautiful combination of flavors. -Corn on the cone sundae: sweet corn soft serve drizzled with salted butter sauce, served in a purple corn waffle cone - hands down the most delicious thing I've had in quite a while. Beware - in the hot sun the cone does leak, so either eat VERY fast or ask for a cup to contain any rogue drips. Pricing is reasonable for a boutique plant-based experience, with sundaes ranging from $10-$13.50 depending on size. The staff are welcoming and eager to chat about plant based desserts, both of which are nearly universally indicative of a morally upstanding situation.

There are spots close to Vaca's but during peak times especially it's all luck on getting one. We parked in a garage just around the corner and walked. Vaca's is a pretty big store front/space with tables inside. It's counter service style and you order and then your order comes up and they call your name. The store/restaurant space was very clean, and cutely decorated. Staff were friendly and welcoming as we ordered. While my best friend was visiting, she saw a post on Vaca's social media about their corn soft serve leaving September 1st, and we decided we had to try it before it left. We each ordered one of the special corn soft serve in a corn cone and dipped in a (vegan) butter ... shell? dip? I'm not sure how to refer to that! This cone is giant, I need to be so clear. I was impressed with the size of the cone and they fill it all the way up with soft serve. The texture is remarkably smooth and the flavor was really perfect. If I didn't know this was a corn flavor, I'm not sure I would have known it was corn as opposed to maybe "sweet cream" or something more mild, but this was a perfect ice cream. I could eat this particular soft serve for the rest of my life and be so satisfied. The cone was really crunchy and also a more mild flavor. The corn soft serve was so delicious that I would definitely try anything else on their menu and it leaves me excited to try more seasonal offerings in the future. I'm so curious about other flavors and options on their menu, and was really impressed with the quality my order. Thank you so much, Vaca's, for a great treat with my best friend!

Yummy Korean bakery! Excellent textures…read more The customer service is confusing. When me & my daughter came in, the bakery case was empty (but their rolling pastry carts were full). The door was open but no one appeared to be inside other than a woman laying down talking on the phone. After a couple minutes I asked her if the bakery was open and she said yes. So then I figured out she worked there. Nothing was labeled so I asked her for her suggestions and she selected a Bavarian cream bun which was delicious, and a white bean pastry which we liked but a little less. It did have a nice subtle flavor though. The more questions I asked the friendlier the woman became. At the end I realized though that she wasn't wearing a mask (during COVID) when she moved a mask on the counter to the side so I could sign my receipt. A little unsettling since my 6 year old isn't vaccinated yet. But the pastries are good. So I would go back without my kid.
