I have been a regular customer of TOUS les JOURS and have purchased many cakes and pastries from them in the past, and I have always been happy with the quality. Unfortunately, my recent experience with a Heart Choco Cake from the Buffalo Grove location was extremely disappointing. The cake tasted and felt like it was old. The cake was very dry, and unfortunately, no one in my family was able to eat it. This was very different from the quality I have experienced from TOUS les JOURS previously. What was even more disappointing was how my concern was handled. I called the store to report the issue, expecting that they might at least want to understand what happened or inspect the cake. Instead, I was simply told that they could not do anything. I even offered to bring the cake back to the store so they could check it themselves. Only one slice had been cut, so there was still plenty of the cake available for them to inspect. As a long-time customer, I wasn't expecting anything unreasonable. I simply expected someone to take the complaint seriously, look at the product, and try to understand why the cake was so dry and seemingly not fresh. I understand that occasionally a product may not meet expectations, but customer service is especially important when a customer takes the time to report a genuine quality issue. Unfortunately, the response I received left me very disappointed. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and review both the quality-control process for cakes and how product complaints are handled. I have enjoyed many products from TOUS les JOURS in the past, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. read more

Yes, the croissants and buns are all the best, but don't sleep on their savory pastries too! The staff are really wonderful in helping you with any questions or recommending popular pastries. I came in for a toogoodtogo bag and you get a generous selection of savory and sweet pastries. Also, at that closing hour, all the pastries are half off! Favorites this time were the cheese bun hotdog, the sweet swirl pastry, and their streudels! There is a good amount of indoor seating but it's put up around closing hour, but definitely worth picking up to go! Both inside and outside seating available at this location. read more

This was a perfect spot to grab some really delicious treats this morning! I went in some 9:30am on a weekday, which was not busy at all. I was afraid all the pastries would be picked over and I would not have a good selection, but to my surprise, I picked several winners! I honestly cannot remember the names of all the pastries, but it's a self serve setup with tongs,bags, and wax paper for customers to grab upon entry. The place has great windows and natural light btw, if you want to sit and enjoy your treat solo or with a friend! I remember the yuzu pastry.... oh my. If you like you and crisp crunch, you must buy that pastry. I also ordered and thoroughly enjoyed an ube latte. I got mine w 1.5 pumps off the syrup so it wouldn't be overly sweet. I feel like sometimes ube can be added with too much sugar and then it just tastes awful to me. I was very pleased with the ratio since the normal amount is 2 full pumps. This place is absolutely amazing. The picture that I posted is a garlic and cream cheese filled pastry. I never knew that garlic and sweetness combination tasted so wonderful on my pallet. If I died right now, I would have tasted the best thing I've ever tasted in my life I also tried the chocolate dip waffle, which was nice and buttery, and also the hazelnut filled doughnut. It was good, but filled with too much hazelnut. Please try this place out you'll fall in love. I guarantee it. read more

The cake looks better than it tastes. It's flavors aren't bad at all, just very faint. True cloud-like texture is a plus. I wouldn't make a special trip considering Tous Les Jours may not satisfy a sweet tooth. 3.1 stars. read more

TLDR; nice bakery for not-too-sweet cakes This is a cute Korean bakery store in Chicago Chinatown. I like this cake store because the cakes are not too sweet while also containing a milky taste and pillowy texture! I got the mango cloud cake, which visually was very pretty but also the taste was good! The rich, fluffy cream layers were balanced by the acidity of the mango cream that stimulates the senses. This mouthwatering cake plus quick service puts it on my list of favorite cake places! That being said, it was pretty standard compared to other Korean bakeries, I.e. nothing spectacular. How am I just finding this now? I love it! So many cute pastries, you can pick up tongs and a bag and grab whatever you want and then order coffee at the register. It's so cute and has a ton of Korean / French pastries! The only difficult thing is remembering what you put in your bag to tell the person checking you out. The best croissants in town! I go to this cute coffee/pastry joint a lot as their bakery items are supreme! Their croissants are spectacular as well as the cloud cake. Their coffee is good too! I recommended the tiramisu latte! The staff is quite helpful and nice. I was disappointed that the service was not good. I chose a slice of pizza and a latte and I feel I should have been offered a plate and to warm up the pizza. When I asked if she could heat it, she directed me to a self serve tiny toaster oven. Seriously? I had to stand there waiting to heat it and finally I just took it out so I could sit and enjoy my lunch date with a friend. I have no idea how long it would have taken to heat up. A professional heater could have toasted it in 2 min I suspect. I asked for a plate and she gave me a dessert plate that would fit a cupcake. Pretty dissatisfied for a local bakery. THE CUTEST FUSION BAKERY EVER!!! My parents, my husband and I were strolling in Chinatown Square and came across Tous Les Jours. I am not a huge fan of matcha or ube but I thought it was really cool how there were so many cool French pastries that incorporated those ingredients! I actually ended up getting a piece of their chocolate cake with strawberries to take home and it was HEAVEN! I wish we would have gotten more to bring back! It was also super impressive how they made coffee, as they grinded their own beans literally for every cup (see attached photo). Didn't realize that this bakery is a nationwide chain until I stepped inside thinking "wait a minute this is the same tongs-and-tray bakery format like 85 Degrees Bakery Cafe and Paris Baguette" and then later browsing the business website lol. Was looking for strictly Chicago-based bakeries but, still, I'm glad that I checked out this spot. In fact, I ended up actually preferring this bakery chain to the other two. The spotlight is the bread base used in this bakery. Milky and pillow-fluffy! The taro cream bread was one of my favorites that I tried; it reminded me a lot like Filipino pan de ube but instead of ube halaya as the filling it's light taro cream. The milk cream bread was pretty similar except more neutral in taste (cream custard); a must-try here. The yuzu pie was super delicious with its citrus filling and crispy puff pastry. The cream butter scone was a bit too crumbly but it still had a nice butter taste to it; it was like eating a weirdly-shaped shortbread lol. Wasn't a fan of the twin egg bread; too much mayo. Cute petite cafe interior with some seating. Overall I recommend stopping by here if you're in the area even if it's just for picking up one item or two! read more

I read about this French-Asian bakery chain before visiting Chicago and Nate and I stopped in for a treat while in Wicker Park. It was similar to another bakery chain we visited in NYC where you take a bag and fill it up. The pastry cases were full of beautiful cakes and sweet treats! It was tough to decide what to get with all the options. The sweet choices outnumbered the savory items, which normally I wouldn't like but we were in the mood for something sweeter anyway. We ended up getting a milk cream bread, which had a sign indicating it was a favorite of children, which was kind of funny. It was a pillowy bun filled with some kind of cream filling - honestly the whole thing tasted like nothing to me. It was sweet but other than that it didn't have a distinguishable flavor... "Milk," I guess. I would definitely try other items here in the future but probably skip the milk cream bread next time. There was a little bit of outdoor seating, but this place seemed to be more of a grab and go type spot. They also serve coffee drinks and smoothies. read more

I used to go to places like this in Korea town there all the time. This French/Korean fusion bakery has everything you're looking for. The savory treats with the hotdogs and cheese, as well as the sweet treats like mango eclairs And milk buns! The drip coffee hits the spot to. They have all kinds of single items and full-size cakes as well as slices. The eclairs come with a nice little gift box too if you need something like that. Makes a great gift! I wouldn't recommend getting a matcha latte from here EVER. They use a faux matcha powder essentially like 70% sugar and 30% matcha.. really cheap stuff. And then charge like $8 for it and it literally just tastes like sweet milk. Gross. Also, they price things differently in the cases than what they actually charge. I went to buy a cloud cake slice for $8, it ran up as $9.25. I told the cashier, she just said they forgot to change it. Really bad practice to not honor prices displayed literally right in front of the register. The pastries are good and fairly priced, but charging $10.25 with tax for a a tiny slice of cake is obnoxious and greedy. Would give zero stars if the pastries and baked goods weren't so yummy. read more

The energy here is off almost like you're walking into a place where you're not welcome. Love their kimchi and curry croquettes! Kimchi had good flavor and pastry was nice and crispy. Curry could have more of a kick but still delicious. Just got back from Japan where I fell in love with croquettes from the conbini and these hit the spot (yes I know it's a Korean bakery). It's a tous les jours. That's an auto five stars. It's arguably the best bake shop in town- no that's not hyperbole. Try especially the pastries with filling inside. You must also try the tiramisu and ube latte subtlety to perfection. But what makes this tous le jours better than all the locations is they are open at 7am! Also the staff is really chill and patient when you roll off of bed half asleep trying to figure out what to purchase. Plus the place just looks purdy! read more
