I'll be honest. Lost Larson is a coffee shop... BUT COME FOR THE PASTRIES!!! The options were endless and delicious. It was hard to choose just one! I look forward to returning for the Princess Cake! My friend and I enjoyed sharing the Lingonberry Almond cake. It was actually way better than I imagined!!! It was moist and delicious! The interior is a bit small, FYI. There's a couple small tables in the back, and counter seating in the front. Not sure how full it gets! On the day I stopped by, we sat at the counter seating, and the patio was full, but the inside was pretty open. Great spot!
The hype over Lost Larson pastries is legitimate - every crevice is crispy, every danish flaky, every cardamom bun not too sweet. I've been to both locations a combined handful of times and it's been a treat every time. Forewarning, their pastries are a tad bit on the expensive side. This location also has limited seating and did not have wi-fi at the time I went in Spring 2025. Otherwise, service was friendly and the pastries make a great pick-me-up!
Always enjoy stopping by Lost Larson for their delicious pastries. Love that they offer to toast the baked goods for you as well. Beautiful dining space, large selection of baked goods and friendly customer service.
The ambiance is v sleek and chic and the service was quick. I ordered a slice of the princess cake and the lingonberry almond cake. The princess cake was a delight! Very moist and the right balance of flavors with each layer. However, I can see how someone could find the marzipan layer to be too sweet. I personally liked it but the marzipan part is definitely very sweet. The lingonberry almond cake was also very moist, with a crisp exterior. I enjoyed it, however, the middle was hollow? Not sure if it's supposed to be like this? The lingonberry + pastry cream part was barely there. Still had a good flavor though. Overall I quite enjoyed both pastries, but I do prefer more inventive flavors. If you're craving a classic pastry done right, LL is worth checking out. Nonetheless, the prices here are pretty steep. The lingonberry almond cake is not very big at all and almost $8. The princess cake slice is $12 and it wasn't a big slice.
Lost Larson is the spot to get your Swedish pastry fix! The attention to detail at this small bakery/cafe is shown through their pastries, which are all top notch. My favorite is the morning bun but closely followed by the cinnamon roll, which is made with croissant dough and topped with frosting. Frosting on a cinnamon roll is typically a nonnegotiable for me. If you haven't had, try their Swedish princess cake, which is layers of delicious pastry cream, jam and cake all encased in a marzipan. Their version is a great take on the classic - a touch fruity and nutty with a light texture. If you want a savory option I'd recommend the quiche. My only wish is that they served my all time favorite sandwich again - the ham and cheese with lingonberry jam! I dream of that sandwich. Coffee menu has the classics but not much else that caught my attention. My nephew enjoyed the hot cocoa!

Also, the barista was all alone making drinks for a line of customers, and doing a great job, but she, and the store could have benefited from having another barista working with her. There are so many beautiful options for pastries and bread and other treats, and everything is delicious. I decided to go to the wicker park location with my sister, around 12pm, and there was almost nothing left at the bakery. Maybe this is what I get for coming at noon? But they still had several more hours until closing so I was kind of surprised. I just felt like it was so different from my experience at the andersonville location. That's not the end of the world, but what really got me was how much it cost. I ordered a slice of cake, a small quiche (It almost felt more like an egg tart), and two lattes, and spent almost $40. I just feel like I spent a lot of money for what I actually got. I think I'm a big fan of lost larson in general, so I'm really hoping it was just an off day. If I'm back in the area hopefully I can revisit and update my review!
Lost Larson in Wicker Park was such a pleasant surprise! Being new to the neighborhood, I've already found my go-to coffee spot. A regular recommended the Campfire latte paired with a cinnamon roll, and now I feel obligated to share this perfect combo--it's too good to keep to myself! The cozy space is ideal for bringing your laptop to work, especially out on the patio where you can chat with friendly Wicker Park locals. The staff is super welcoming, and I'll definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!

The breakfast cookie had bananas, oats, and cinnamon which was really interesting and gave it a more dry texture from the oats (not a bad thing). I would've never thought of that combination in a cookie, but it was tasty, similar to banana bread in flavor. The worker was a bit passive aggressive and rude to us, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt; maybe they were having a bad day.

Came here on a Sunday morning with my partner and child. We had never been before and heard so many good things about this place. It was great! We got the spinach feta pasty, and sticky bun. I had a cold brew and my partner got the drip. My child had the spelt chocolate chip cookie, which he enjoyed. Great place to come for pastries and coffee. There isn't much room to sit, it was very busy when we were here seating wise. The staff were nice, quick. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

Small but packs a punch, this bakery serves up delicious pastries at a fairly good size -- but also quite expensive. Despite this, the quality definitely shows in and every bite -- both in the ingredient quality and the texture. The different pastries are also quite different from one another, so you get a nice variety of experiences despite a somewhat limited selection. The seating is limited here, though enough if you're just enjoying your treat quickly and then moving on. I like the seating at the Andersonville location a little better, though this spot seems a little easier to park at. Overall, delicious and pricey -- but worth the premium. read more

What a let down. Literally came from Copenhagen to do a week in the midwest and saw this place (excited!) Get a cardamom bun and it's dry and stale with very weak cardamom flavor. It must be to adapt to the midwest palate? Shame. read more

Wow. Lost Larson has been on my radar for awhile, and I regret not visiting sooner! Although I only bought one pastry this time around, the Lingonberry Almond Cake was so exceptional that it singularly deserves 5 stars. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but the super light and moist center perfectly balanced with the tart berries and fluffy almond cream. The coffee was also flavorful and not bitter. The interior is bright and airy with a cute patio as well. Staff was professional and attentive. I will absolutely return to try more of the menu and highly recommend Lost Larson! read more

I'm usually a fan of sweet over savory, but thought the kale cheddar scone was amazing and actually enjoyed if more than the afternoon bun (which was still good but not as wow-worthy). Recommend d this location for quick, friendly service. read more
I came in for a couple of pastries. The staff was great, but I was the only one in the building at the time. We took home a chocolate hazelnut croissant and a Kouign-amann. Both were good but definitely expensive as hell. The croissant was huge though. And it tasted phenomenal. It was fresh, a thin crispy layer on the outside and very soft on the inside. The kouign-amann was made the same way in texture, but I've never seen say a flattened out kouign-amann. I'm use to them being a little taller in shape, but these were rectangular. Still very tasty though. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit Lost Larson( but wouldn't mind picking up a couple of pastries whenever I'm in the area. read more

Immediately became one of my new favorite coffee shops. The service was excellent, the food and drink were phenomenal, and can we just talk about how aesthetic the place is? Such a great place to show off to a partner, read a nice book, or sit in the window people watching with a cappuccino. Oat Milk Latte- 5/5 loved their espresso roast. Lots of bold flavor without being too acidic. Strong chocolatey notes with a hint of floral in the aftertaste. Easy to chug but worse it to sip and savor Lingonberry Almond Cake- 5/5, was somehow breaking the laws of physics. The exterior was crispy and sweet with light dusting of powdered sugar laying over an edge of caramelized cake. Once your spoon crosses that exterior, you're greeted by the softest and richest cake with an excellent crumble. Not too sweet and a perfect pairing with a bitter coffee Overall 5/5 and certainly made me a returning customer read more
I'm a huge sucker for Lost Larson since I used to frequent their location in Andersonville. I got lucky since this one is close enough to visit during lunch. The menus are a little different as they don't seem to have food items aside from pastries. Which no fear, their pasteries and coffee is amazing. I got my ultimate favorite the cardamom bun (it's always a go to). The princess cake is always a traditional treat, and can never go wrong with. I'm always going to say it's amazing but that's since I grew up with it. The only thing that threw me off was that the lingonberry lemonade was so tart. I only say that as typically with lingonberry saft it can be a sweeter taste. The taste buds weren't feeling it, but if you love a more tart taste of a lemonade I highly recommend! I will be definitely taking a trip back soon for more cardamom buns and cinnamon rolls. read more

Cute little cafe! Simple but nicely decorated. Ordered Chai Latte (with whole milk), lemon pound cake, Lingonberry Almond Cake, chocolate croissant, and chocolate spelt cookie (made with spelt flour). The lemon pound cake was moist, dense, and not super sweet. Only the frosting is tarty and has the lemon flavor. I really like the cake by itself. Rating: 4.5/5 Chai Latte was slightly sweet and not bad. Served lukewarm to almost cold. Rating: 4/5 Lingonberry Almond Cake was really good especially warmed up. Not super sweet. Rating: 5/5 The chocolate croissant was dry. They sell some items in the cafe that are not shown on their online menu. For instance, lemon pound cake, zucchini cake, carrot cake. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service is good. I would come back again to try more items! read more
Popped in here for some pastries and a latte. The latte art is on point here. We got the Afternoon Tea Bun and Tebirkes. The Afternoon Tea Bun was very good. I split it and my portion only had the citrus and not the tea. The Tebirkes was good, but I think could have used more almond cream. My one grip is the bags they use are flimsy!! I had two break and it got the Tebirkes' sesame seeds EVERYWHERE. I would come back here, because I want to try the Calamansi Meringue Tart, Kouign-amann, Lingonberry Almond Cake and the Danish! read more

This place is such a treat and they really don't miss! Love all their pastries, well priced, and they have unique baked items as well as the classics. Really loved their tebirkes (almond cream croissant with poppyseeds), excellent coffee as well. Very glad they opened up a spot in Wicker, 10/10 would recommend. read more

I ordered the Kouignn Amann, lingonberry almond cake, feta danish, cinnamon roll. All exquisite. The amann was delightfully sweet, cinnamon roll incredibly balanced, and lingonberry cake was delicious. Best to preorder as we did. Great system and had our order waiting for us. When we got there at 1PM, they still had some* pastries for order if we wanted more. Great service from guy behind counter and good ambiance. Minimalistic and fancy woodwork along the walls. read more
Pastries, especially croissants, are the way to my hungry heart. This place had alot of good reviews so I wanted to give it a go. I came around 8AM after work and there was already a decent amount of people seated at their outdoor patio area. They have a nice display of all their pastries. All their pastries are huge! Also kind of expensive but you are paying for the good quality. There were pastries that I've never heard of so I would love to come back and try some more. Spinach & feta danish: I popped this baby in my air fryer for like 3-5 min and it was nice and toasty. The buttery layers in this pastry were devine. Had just the right amount of spinach/feta filling. I can't get over how good the quality was. Definitely worth a visit! read more
I am giving Lost Larson 2 stars because of their tipping policy. They automatically added a health insurance charge of 4% (which i'm fine with) and a 15% gratuity charge (which i'm not) without mentioning it. Their food is pricey but good, so that tip can be pretty big. I always a tip, even with takeout, but 15% is excessive. I bought 2 loaves of bread ($8 a piece) and 4 pastries ($9 a piece) and got charged $7.65 in gratuity without being told. I noticed it when I got home and had to call them to remove the charge, which they did. They said there is a little sign in the window. I didn't see it clearly. Most people don't i would imagine as they are staring at the food. I would suggest that if you feel the need to charge gratuity like that, then you should mention that at checkout. Thats a full on service charge. Food is excellent, but the tip thing might make me think about going back. read more

I haven't gone to the one in Andersonville and maybe never will because it's far away. But this place has absolutely superb bread. We have gotten a tebirkes, cardamom bun, and almond Croissant (not pictured) and they have all been excellent so it's hard to pick a favorite. Their bread has this unusual pillow like texture that makes it different from your run-of-the-milk croissants, and their breads are perfect balance of sweet without feeling like a dessert or a donut. The best pastries you will have in your entire life. The chocolate croissant is my go to- it is the flakiest, freshest, most incredible croissant! I was hesitant because it's darker in color than a typical croissant but it's perfection. Only problem is now if you order a croissant somewhere else it will NOT compare. Amazing bread as well! Their drinks are good, but I prefer to come and order a quiche or a pastry. read more
Pastries are quality and look like works of art. The flaky croissant dough, yummy. There is street parking, but it was easy to find a spot. Not bad for a weekend. They have indoor and outdoor seating and offer a variety of drinks and food. I would come here again to try more pastries. They were good! read more
