Very disappointed with how this recent promotion was handled. If this is how the business operates, it's extremely disheartening and poorly managed. I showed up on the first day of the promotion and was well within the first 10 people in line. Not only did I not get a magnet, I also waited over an hour for two drinks. There was an insane number of online orders that were prioritized and they continued to keep the promotional ordering option open long after they had already run out of merch. The magnets were handed out once customers received their drinks, but if my order took over an hour to prepare despite being among the first few people in line, and every incoming online order was fulfilled first, how is that fair? I understand that quantities are limited and not every customer can be accommodated. But it's the business's responsibility to be transparent about how many promotional items are available to begin with and communicate when they have been depleted. It felt like important information was withheld until after customers had already spent money. One of the older staff members tried to de-escalate the situation but in the end, the owner/management handled this very poorly and left their employees to fend for themselves. read more

Molly Tea has recently opened in Rockville, close to the Twinbrook metro station. Inside the small shop there are two small tables and a few chairs. The storefront is bright and inviting. There are two touchscreens inside to place a drink order, and about 7-8 staff assembling the drinks. This seems to be quite a popular location, as the screen showing the order numbers was filled with multiple pages of order numbers and the counter was stacked full of drinks waiting for pickup. I ordered the Jasmine Citrus drink, and waited about 10 min before my order number popped up on the screen, and was ready to pickup. The vibes and aesthetic of Molly tea is very much is like a cross between luxury brand milk tea x Pop Mart. I got the white champaca oolong milk tea with the recommend light ice and 70% sugar level with no toppings. I like that the flavor of the tea shines through with the floral but not overwhelming to the point it's more scent than flavor. Sweetness wise, it was a good balance of not being too sweet. My friend got the white champaca matcha with the recommended light ice and 70% sugar level, and choose brown sugar boba for the add-on. One of the best boba/milk tea shops around. The hype and the long lines are well deserved. Haven't had one that felt this high quality in the ingredients. Their jasmine tea is def a standout with how much flavor and how strong the aroma of the jasmine tea they use. Their sago and other boba toppings are also equally great! Finally had a chance to try Molly Tea after seeing so much hype on Instagram! It was a little busy when we got there but not too bad. They have garage parking nearby that was free for the first 2 hours just an fyi! There's not much seating in the shop so it's more of a to go place. There's 2 screens to order from or you can place an order via the QR code and then wait for your number to pop up on the screen or a text. I think one thing that could have been better is that when you order, there's a sign that displays your order number as either a drink they're working on or a drink that's ready. But when we saw our number flashing in the ready area, the drink wasn't ready yet. If they could provide some signs that mention this so people weren't confused that would be great. We were waiting in line for our drink but people kept on asking us to move since their drink was "ready" but so was ours according to the sign. Otherwise, I enjoyed our drinks! Molly Tea is finally in the DMV! ...Except it was still a 30-45 minutes drive for me to get to. But beats taking an Amtrak to NYC! My friend and I arrived a bit before 5 PM and only had to wait a couple minutes before we were able to order at the kiosk. Seems like we beat the early evening rush because a huge group arrived shortly after. The interior is small with only a few small tables and seats, but fortunately, we were able to find a spot to sit while we waited. Our drinks came out about 30 minutes after ordering, which wasn't bad for a Saturday evening! TONGMU LAPSANG MILK TEA - 6.99 My cousin got this the last time I went to Molly Tea, and it truly slapped. I love the woodsy smokiness of this black tea which paired well with the milk. The tea flavor was incredibly strong without being oversteeped. I got it with 50% sugar (despite the 70% recommended), but lowkey would have been happier with 30%. This place had a lot of hype so I decided to finally go in when it wasn't so busy. Even though there was still a little bit of a line they worked really quickly. The inside is cute, but small and there is no seating outside. I would suggest ordering online and coming to pick it up. In terms of the tea itself, I was surprised at the lack of customization. I expected to be able to choose lactose free milk and the descriptions often talked about freshness so I expected fresh ingredients. It's seems to be a powder mixed with either juice or tea. The flavor was just ok, I think with the level of competition in the area I expected more. Some of the flavors were more unique for example I got the apple milk tea, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the combo. The tapioca bubbles were small and kind of disintegrate in your mouth, maybe thats just how they are, I wouldn't say it was a bad thing it was just different. There is a parking garage and some street parking. However, a decent amount of people like to idle in the back instead of parking, which can jam the traffic flow. They do have a restroom for customers, but there is not a lot of seating. They have a rewards program, so I recommend downloading the app and joining. Yet it wasn't too noisy even with many people waiting for their drinks. The app didn't link the store yet, I was told. So I ordered at the machine by the entrance. I couldn't specify the ice or sugar level, so I ended up getting my drinks with too much sugar and ice. Hopefully next time I visit, I can use the app to customize my drinks. Great tea! So happy they are in the DMV. Lines were long but moved quickly.I recommend the Tongmu Lapsang tea for its bold flavor and aromatics when mixed with matcha or the Jasmine cloud. For safer transport in the cute insulated pink bags. The paper cups have the plastic cover over them. When you want to drink just tear off the plastic over the cup. Came here on their second day open and the line was wrapped around to the entrance of Wegmans. Not a ton of seating but quite a simple and open design for their store front. As part of their promotions, they had a trolly cart and if you showed your receipt you could get a scented bag of jasmine tea and a Maryland crab molly tea magnetic pin. With the deal they had going on, you could get a bogo tea! I ordered the premium jasmine matcha and got the white champaca oolong milk tea. Both were delicious. I've never had champaca, but it tastes good gave nice subtle flavor to the oolong. The premium jasmine was definitely premium tea. It was so tasty and had such a nice floral flavor. The straws were interesting as they were like three coffee stirrer sizes wholes adhered together. It was sleek and thin. One of my friends ordered the pistachio jasmine coconut. Am super excited for another tea place in the area! I've heard great things about Molly tea and the quality of the tea itself. I think their best quality is how fragrant their tea is and the strongest items on the menu are the ones with jasmine tea etc. we went on the opening week and the staff were really organized and efficient even with the amount of people. The storefront itself is small and very cutely decorated. It's more of a stop by and skedaddle type of place as opposed to a sit down cafe. All the items are not too sweet and they have the recommended sweetness automatically set to 70% so you can add more if you'd like. I think the 70% is perfect though. It's unlike other drink/boba shops since the tea is such a focus here, definitely not a place for you if you don't like tea and prefer the flavor more hidden. read more

Came today with a friend for the second day of the Grand Opening. I've literally never waited in line this long for anything, but alas here we are. I got in line around 10:30am and placed my order inside about 1.5 hours later around noon. Then maybe another 20 mins until my order was ready. Took advantage of the BOGO deal and got 4 drinks...all for me! Asked for less ice for everything & I normally do 30% sugar, but I'm glad I went with their recommended 70% sugar because it was already not that sweet. I finished the Snowy Jasmine first - so good and the whipped cream complemented the premium Jasmine green tea nicely & didn't overpower the taste at all. Currently drinking the Tongmu Lapsang Salted Cheese, and I really like this one as well! Highly recommend this if you like more savory drinks or if you're also a fan of cheese in your bbtea. For the free drinks, they needed to be from the floral milk tea series, so I went with the plain premium jasmine milk tea and peach oolong milk tea (have not tasted it yet so can't give my opinion on this one.) Didn't really have a chance to be inside the store other than picking up my drinks, mostly waited outside, but their waiting system seems efficient. For the drink itself, I wasn't really impressed. I've had Molly Tea before and would rave about it, but it wasn't amazing this time around. They seem to be more efficient compared to other tea places during their soft/grand opening. The place is really small but no surprises there. I think most people just buy to go. I happen to be in the area and decided to join in on the craze. It was a long line to get into the garage under the building, so I parked across the street and walked over (shhh don't tell). When I walked up, the line was at the door. I was like oh boy I'm going to be here for a while. But it turns out there are two kiosks and one person at the register taking orders. So I didn't even take me 5 minutes to order! As soon as I placed my order, I got a number and it popped up on a screen towards where the register is. I thought it was going to be like 10 minutes at least based on the crowd, but that didn't even take 5 minutes... Hands down I was impressed with their efficiency! I got the white champaca with oat milk. Very tasty! I did ask for no ice, but there was still some in there, no big deal. Does anyone else think that their logo is similar to Louis Vuitton?? If you've had Molly Tea in New York you will definitely taste the difference between that and this location... all of the drinks are pretty watered down/too milky and not that usual strong fragrant tea taste that you would find at other locations. I also came here with two friends and my sister also tried my drink and everyone had the same opinion as well. My jasmine tea was full of ice to the bottom, despite the normal recommended level is "less ice". Even for a normal ice setting, this is the second time I've tried for the same drink Jasmine tea tasted so plain like just water that has a drop of jasmine essential oil in it, no taste of sweetness though it should have been. This location is just newly open and seems greedy to get as many customers and many order ready as fast as possible, they extremely neglected managing the quality.
