    Barilla Enchiladas

Incredible. I love Mexican food and I can't wait to return here. We started with drinks and I got a tequila and coconut liquor with lime cocktail and it was smooth and sweet. We started with guacamole which came with chips, salsa, and beans and it was very good. I ordered the Barilla Trio and it was incredible. My friends ordered the Ribeye taco and Barilla Enchiladas. We capped it off with the churros and ice cream. The atmosphere felt like Mexico in the best way. Multiple dining rooms and a separate room with a bar. It felt both like a small neighborhood spot and a good place for a group dinner. On Saturday nights they do karaoke. Everything else in the menu looked amazing. I almost ordered the Al Pastor. And when I was looking at the pictures already posted here it seems like the menu changes. Definitely come here and enjoy incredible Mexican Food and cocktails.

I really like the ambiance of this new spot up on cave creek. My dad told me this used to be called Manuels (which moved to 32nd & Shea) and it was a pretty good Mexican joint. Now they have cleaned it way up and painted it all white....white walls and white booths and are serving semi elevated Mexican food. I think this allows them to charge way more for their fairly basic Mexican food. But it's good! The service at first was slow but finally once they came over to us they were very attentive after that. The servers wear this funny little cross body bag to put all their stuff in. Kinda cute. I had a classic margarita and it was good. Nothing amazing but well made and not overly sweet. Apparently they freeze dry their own fruit garnish. The guac and salsa were super flavorful. My dad had a chimichanga which was big and delicious. I had Baja tacos and they let me do one shrimp and two fish tacos. They were also delicious but again nothing I haven't had before. I'm still waiting for a unique Mexican spot with mushroom and potato tacos but alas this is not that spot. Overall I was happy except it was a bit pricey and I feel I can get same quality at a much better price at Valle Luna right down the street. But I liked the server and the ambiance was nice so I might try it again.

We came in for the soft opening week. Service was great even the owner was there welcoming guests. Started out with wood fired whole shrimp. Amazing flavor and great sauces. The side of rice that came with was terrific. Next we had a chile rellano and the short rib barbacoa. Both dishes were great sizes and full of flavor. Lastly had the chocoflan for dessert. It was very dense and delicious. The dish looked like art as well when served. The cocktail service was very solid as well. We shared 3 drinks all were perfectly balanced. Can't wait to come back after tomorrow's grand opening for the full menu and experience. This is a terrific addition to the neighborhood that was lacking a nice Latin spot.

Cute date spot for the area, trendy but cozy with the big booths and ambient lighting. Drinks and food were delicious. We went around 7 on a Friday and food came out in 10min. Server was very attentive. Overall a great dinner, price was just a little much for our liking but would definitely recommend and come back!

My friends and I had enjoyable dinner here a few days after their opening date. The dining areas are spacious, the decor tasteful with a modern take on Mexican themes, the service is very friendly, and the food is good: an elevated version of Mexican staples. Excellent cocktails, as well.

5 for the food, 0 for the drink (a virgin pineapple na mezcal and coconut)- but they did the right thing and took it off the check, 3 for the space- they definitely did a remodel inside and I love the decor and the flowers but it wasn't to perfection (paint, flooring, ceilings), and 4.5 for the service. Our server was wonderful but the check in process was a little clunky- they're working through it and it's just the first day. We are a little shocked that a nicer restaurant has gone in this space given the location, and I hope they do well. The food- we had the ceviche (fresh and delicious, although we wished there were chips instead of tostadas), the pork tacos (so good), and the short rib (perfection). Everything tasted fresh and delicious, beautiful presentation- we will definitely be back to try more!

The food and drinks were Amazing!! Highly recommend - fresh ingredients, modern flares, thoughtful flavors - we will definitely come back! Go check them out!!!! Our table had fish tacos, chicken tacos, barbacoa tacos, chicken enchiladas, and mahi ceviche, with arroz con leche withsweet potato desert and every single thing was delicious. They have a beautiful craft cocktail menu as well as a mocktail menu that we ordered from and I wish I had taken pictures of those. They were beautiful.

Mariachi Friday was a fun night! Great food, nice people, and great music! The prices are fair, the chips and salsa were excellent!

This restaurant just opened and raven the bartender is awesome!! Immaculate vibes!! The aguachile was so yummy. My friend ordered the bathtub beverage and it was so tasty and the bubbles have alcohol in them. How could you say no to that!! Come here if you know what's good for you

The bartenders are SUPER nice. The happy hour deals are amazing. Sometimes there's a food truck. We got sliders that night and they were so good. Nice, big TVs to watch a game or in this case, find a new Netflix show to binge. Loved that they displayed local artists' works on their walls! And they have a lot of fun, themed nights like trivia or drag trivia! Also, super dog friendly with a patio out back. Definitely a fan! Cannot wait to keep returning!

If I lived in phoenix, I'd be a regular for sure They opened during Covid and are relatively new but they got all their cocktail drinks on lock. Every drink we've had has been amazing! My favorite is the lavender fog and the mulled wine (which is only available in November) The service is awesome and the bartenders are so chill and down to earth. This bar also has live music on saturdays, trivia's and game nights. In fact, at every table, they have a deck of cards against humanity. At the entrance they also have a variety of other games like connect four, jenga and such. Lavender fog: great balance of lavender and earl grey tea! The foam is the best creamy touch to the drink. I feel in a relaxed daze when I have this drink. I think it's the most special one here. It was even featured on a magazine! Pour favor: I don't like mezcal but this was nice. The mango puree was prominent which I loved and was well complimented with sour and spice. This drink style is a little more commonly found in other bars too which is probably because it's popular! Indoor smoking: smoky, cool and well done twist in the old fashioned. They prepare it in such a cool way with the smoking process and the delivery is great. SMOOTH old fashion. It was alcohol forward but I didn't feel any burn that I normally get from any common old fashion. It also had the best citrus aftertaste The sunny slope sour: great if you love whiskey sour. I loved this drink the pear and peach made the whiskey taste less harsh. One of the better renditions of whiskey sours I've had My brightside. Bitter but works so well with watermelon! Refreshing, balanced and delicious. I typically don't love Negronis but I loved this rendition. The nanny: mezcal espresso martini that was also well done. You can also taste raspberry and chocolate every sip Mulled wine: hot wine with spices that I argue was better than the mulled wines I've had in Europe. All the spices and aromas were so complex yet cozy for a chilly night! The bartenders treat their regulars well and seem to really have a great community here. With offers for movie nights, paint and sip, jack box games, wine club, etc

There is parking on the street or in the lot. We weren't familiar with the area so it was a bit tricky to find. It is located in the back of a coffee shop. I got a nice fruity cocktail that was sweet. I enjoyed it. Everything was reasonably priced. All of our drinks were pretty glittery, it made everything really pretty. My friend got a free glass of prosecco for her birthday which was nice. A good speakeasy to visit. Menu has good variety. Service was great, they ran through the menu with us and was attentive.

Before getting into that I'll talk about the drinks. Pretty good and reasonably priced. Nothing to gimmicky about them and would definitely return to try other options. The bar setting itself was nice! I truly appreciate the speakeasy feel- walking through a mystery door phone booth was a good welcome to this bar. Small on the inside, but had a classy but casual feel. Since we did the murder mystery there was also a preset menu which was cool. The food was okay, but will be returning back for the drinks more than the food. The murder mystery game was a nice way to get everyone in the bar involved. Essential a real like clue or who done it game. Very interesting but also can be a bit distracting if your goal was to come out and have some drinks and peace out at your leisure. While it is a very cool idea, I feel that more customers would be able to come and go on these days and not be turned out because a reservation was not made. All in all, will return on another night to try more drinks

Located on Cave Creek Road, I had passed by this bar several times and was excited to finally try it out. While I parked across the street at the venue where I was for my event prior, I did notice that they had a decent amount of free parking available. Ambiance (4/5): Cactus Tavern is a dive bar with some Arizona flair. Given the name of the bar, I expected some cactus decor. It did not disappoint...including square lights with cactus cut-outs above each table. There are several high top tables as well as seating at the bar. It's not a huge bar, probably fits 50 people or so, and it was about 90% at capacity when I was there. They also have one pool table. Seems like the type of place where regulars come, which is always a plus in my book. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a great job taking care of us despite being quite busy. She was friendly, efficient, and made some recommendations when I asked for some. Pro tip: they give you a cash discount, so if you'd like to save a little bit, make sure you bring cash. Drinks (4/5): With it being a dive bar, the options are going to be on a simpler side. They had eight or so beers on tap, so not a large selection, but I ended up going with a WOW Wheat. A few local beers, plus some usual suspects like Coors Light, Dos Equis, Modelo, etc. While the selection didn't blow my socks off, the prices are reasonable. That counts for a lot. Food (4.5/5): According to Yelp, Cactus Tavern is known for their quesabirria tacos. Since quesabirria is one of my favorite Mexican foods, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't. You get three quesabirria tacos (birria meat, cilantro, cheese, and onions), fresh off the griddle, served with a green salsa and consommé. These were hands down some of the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were served right off the grill, the meat was flavorful, and the oozy cheese was delicious. With a side of elote (on the cob), it made for the perfect meal. This is not your typical bar food, y'all. It's a notch or two above. I was pleasantly surprised. And like the drinks, the food prices are affordable too. Pro tip #2: if you're looking for deals beyond the cash discount, they have daily discounts on various items including a burger and a pint, Philly cheesesteak, etc. depending on the day.
