My boyfriend and I recently visited Blue Agave Mexican Cantina. I was craving Mexican food and wanted to try a place we hadn't been in a while. I remembered Blue Agave. We had visited there years ago and had had a great experience then, so we decided to give it another try. They are located at Scottsdale Road and the 101, in the sprawling shopping center on the opposite side of the road from Whole Foods. We were greeted immediately by the manager and were seated in a booth. The restaurant was quite busy on a Thursday night. The waiter appeared quickly and took our drink orders (water). We took our time checking out the menu. There are some unique items on the menu. We munched in the warm, fresh tortilla chips and medium spice level salsa. I asked the waiter for recommendations and he suggested the Baja Shrimp Pasta dish. It had jalapenos but I asked them to be left off. He advised it still had a medium spice level. Normally, I go for mild, but I gave it a try. The pasta was a huge portion and was indeed quite spicy. I ate half and took half home. I heated it up the next day and added sour cream to it to tone it down, which brought it back to a milder spice level. My boyfriend enjoyed his two shrimp enchiladas, rice, and beans. It was also a generous portion. He ordered both flavors of sauces. We had great service and will definitely be back!

Border Burger (taken after I cut in half)

Stopped in for a Sunday evening meal after a long day. My wife ordered the Baja Shrimp Pasta and I ordered a Border Burger on the rare side. The pasta was a huge portion with a good amount of shrimp. It was very tasty and just the right amount of heat. My burger was cooked perfectly with a nice side of fries. The burger was a good size as well and wound up only eating half since it was later in the evening. We had lots of chips and salsa and a couple drinks. Decent meal and enjoyed the evening. I've been here numerous times and generally always satisfied.

Quesadilla

The menu is a bit overwhelming which typically means they don't have a real specialty and everything is mid. That rang true here. Margarita was meh, think Applebees. The quesadilla I had was cheesy but the meat was tough and lacked any hint of seasoning. The most disappointing thing was that the bartender seemed to think I was going to skip out on my bill. I had to send her back to the kitchen a couple of times for missing items and condiments that came with the quesadilla that was not in my Togo bag and I witnessed her ask the older man ( manager, maybe?) to watch me. Felt very uncomfortable and I hate to assume it was racially motivated since there were others at the bar she engaged with and skipped that direction while they dined. I overtipped in a effort to debunk the stereotype but I will skip this place on my next trip. I travel here for work often.

Delivered carne asada plate. 4.5/5! Great!

4.5/5. Ordered the carne asada plate to go. Steak was juicy and full of flavor. Refried beans were very creamy and delicious. Flour tortillas was soft and warm. The rice had amazing flavor. Combined together on the tortilla was magic. Only tweak is to have some authentic grilled green onions and a side of sour cream. Will order again!

Hands down the best Mexican food I've had!!! I ordered the enchiladas and they were absolutely incredible!! packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The service was just as impressive as the food; everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The whole place has such good vibes and super comfortable, lively, and the kind of spot that makes you want to stay a little longer just to soak it in. If you're looking for authentic flavor, amazing service, and an atmosphere that feels both inviting and fun, this is the place to go. I'll definitely be back!

We have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the North Scottsdale area and stumbled upon this place. The menu had a great selection and the food didnt disappoint! Chris was our server who was on top of it and never missed a beat!

We found this place from a coupon we got in the mail and it did NOT disappoint! Loved the vibes here and that they were playing March madness and allow dogs on the patio. We loved everything we ordered! I especially enjoyed the elote appetizer and taquitos! My husband loved his fajitas. I can see this spot being a regular for us and not to mention they have a great happy hour! We will be back for sure

I haven't had a drink I haven't liked, you can't go wrong with any of them. The 50 first dates has become my favorite, however. For food, the milk bread is a delicious starter. The chicken tenders are also amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately, I would not go here again. I was genuinely so excited to take my husband because he…read moreloves jazz, flapper-era music, and the whole 1920s speakeasy atmosphere. Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

The first result was the Hush Public House. It turned out to be a winner, especially since they offer two special nights -- Tuesday has a $55 fix price, "neighbor night", menu in addition to their very interesting normal one; and Wednesday offers half price wine. Of course the best part was the food, which was excellent. I went with the neighborhood night special and started with Crispy Cauliflower, then enjoyed a very tasty pork chop, and finished with a chocolate bodino desert. All courses were prepared with exceptional culinary imagination. Finally the service was attentive, but not pushy. We were visiting with friends and enjoyed a very leisurely meal. We will be back!

The atmosphere inside is relaxed yet sophisticated with an overwhelming feeling of being in on a secret no one else knows, so cool! We happened to come early enough in the day to where getting a table wasn't an issue but I would say make a reservation when coming as it is limited seating and absolutely worth it. I came with my husband and my bestie for some birthday cocktails and bites. We were actually lucky enough to have our Uber driver point out the door on the way in, I don't want to give away any secrets but keep an eye out for a door marked with the goose silhouette. It was very back-door, hush hush The cocktails were fantastic! The Clover Club was by far my favorite but everything we got was wonderful! I definitely recommend getting some bites while you're there too, we got the charcuterie board and it was plenty for the three of us. Nick took great care of us, making excellent recommendations throughout our visit but the star of the show was Miss Bella! She was so sweet right off the bat, welcoming us in and wishing me a very happy birthday! She very clearly takes a lot of personal pride in her customer care and it shows! Plus, her nails?? Gorgeous! We really had a great time and will definitely be back soon! Thank you The Goose for a wonderful birthday!

It did not disappoint - this is actually a second-story restaurant so you can see the runway and planes! I'll note it is at the far end of the runway, so it would be MOST ideal to sit outside at the end of the patio for plane watching. Two, the service was impeccable on a Saturday for brunch. Is everyone who works here in a good mood? The energy is bright, light and airy, the service is attentive but low pressure. Three, they LOVE PETS. I'm not a pet owner but while I was there two people brought their pets along and one was a golden retriever puppy. This wouldn't matter but puppies can obviously cause a nuisance indoors - this staff did not mind. They were not in a slow service part of the day but they treated the pets like patrons and it actually created a really relaxed, collaborative atmosphere. I will note this though because if you're not an animal lover/ are afraid of dogs, their acceptance is a little more than the typical "pets outside" policy. Four, the food. It was beyond exceptional, and it's funny because the typical airport diner isn't elevated. But this is Scottsdale, and we had really delicious, beautiful food - actually fine dining presentation but in these cute mismatched kitschy dishes which brought it back down home. Lastly for anyone who loves birding, you wouldn't think an airport is a great spot but there is actually wildly diverse population of birds in the Volanti entrance. Trust me.
