Love this local Mexican spot!! Even when it was on cave creek, we've loved this place! It's only gotten better since moving to 32nd and Shea. As soon as we walk in, we are always greet by Ava, the kindest, hostess with the best smile:) You can never go wrong with the skinny margarita and cheese crisp. Live music, great drinks, and of course chips and salsa. One of my favorite dishes is their tortilla soup. So much flavor and fun presentation, We love bringing big groups to dinner here! read more

Really delicious Mexican food! My friend and I had dinner here the other night. I had a chicken and beef enchilada with a Casamigos Margarita and she had chicken fajitas with the Margarita flight. Great service. Really nice decoration. Will be back! read more

Manuel's Mexican Restaurant - Margarita flight and the enchilada trio - Mexican Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

My family recently dinned here for lunch and we had a great experience and fast service. To start it off we got some chips and salsa, which was great. My friend ended up ordering the seafood enchiladas, which came out steamy. They had a huge glob of avocado on top and my friend loved it. My other friend got a bean and cheese burrito and had it deep fried. It tasted amazing and the tortilla was super yummy and crunchy. I got the bean burro enchilada style burrito. It was super sweet and creamy and the sauce was great. I absolutely loved their beans and rice. I could've had that as a meal in itself and I will definitely be back for more. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience and the ambience of the restaurant. Our server was super kind and attentive during our meal. read more

We ordered a "senior/lunch" taco salad with chicken, the pollo especial, a house margarita and one beer during happy hour and the bill was $47. The food was just ok. Very bland. The "spicy salsa" we were offered was not spicy at all. The highlight of the meal was the wide open garage door style window open so we could enjoy the cooler weather. read more

Quiet Friday afternoon for a great lunch. Seated immediately and asked for drink orders. Me, the Manuel special on tap. Nice carnelized taste, sweet with just a hint of pepper. Nice selection on lunch specials- enchilada was my choice. When the food arrived, a full plate of rice, beans and the good portion sized enchilada. Now the server said caution the plate is hot and wow it was and so was the food. It is the first time in a long time I've finally got hot food and it stayed that way until my last bite. Congratulations to the kitchen team for producing a great hot food lunch. See you soon! read more

Been coming here for 29 years, originally at Cave Creek and Cactus. For the first time, not happy. Started off with being sat at the bar area, the seat cushions were cracked and torn, so we asked to move. Then it took forever to be acknowledged by our server. As always the food was awesome. We were never checked on to make sure everything was ok. I had to go to the bar to ask for another beer. The people at the next table were having the same problem. Shame as we have always loved this place. read more

Top tier Mexican food. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. If you like refried beans, you love what they serve up here.

Had lunch here on a Monday. Excellent service no wait food arrived fast. Our table had one taco salad and two fish tacos w rice and beans. Everything arrived quickly and the fish tacos were very very good. Will be back. read more

First time at this location near 32nd Street and Shea Blvd. By far, this is the newest location for this local family chain. Had the El Pastor Chimichanga with rice and beans. Their lunch specials are honored on weekends. Food is consistent, tasty and good. Service was excellent. Restaurant is very modern, open and very large. The first Manual's Restaurant opened in 1964 at 32nd Street and Indian School Road. Have been to most of their locations since that time. Put this one on your list! read more

It blows my mind that you can go into a place that wasn't even that busy and sit at the bar for almost 20mins and have not one person ask us what we wanted to drink. We did get chips though Never again will I go back to that place especially with prices being so high these days. NO EXCUSES for that to happen. read more

Well on Cinco De Mayo you would expect any Mexican restaurant to be chaos! Not Manuels - this Sheaborhood favorite had it down to a science. After a small wait - 10 mins we were seated and got amazing service and food. They had it down - everyone was hustling and focused on the customers. Food came quick, drinks were refreshed regularly and even was given a free t-shirt. I love this place and was so happy they took care of the customers. Had a DJ - well that could have been way better lol, but didn't even notice the guy until leaving. Feel like it was a nice touch but a missed opportunity as he was just sitting behind his setup playing music that wasn't in keeping with the theme. read more

Great service and amazing food! Always friendly and chips and salsa are delicious to start. The cheese Crisp with green chilies is very very good! read more

This is the first time we've been to Manuel's, the service was quick and friendly and there was a lot of seating at this location. We went at dinner, it wasn't too loud, we enjoyed our conversation. The food was good, the highlight for me was the mild salsa. DELICIOUS. Very family friendly and I believe wheelchair accessible. read more

To start, the chips were quite good. They came out warm and were refreshed throughout the meal. I ordered the chicken carne picado, it was flavorful and well spiced. It was a great meal that didn't feel heavy. The chicken was a bit dry however, hence the 4 stars. Staff was nice, attentive, and overall helped create a great atmosphere for dinner. Would definitely come back when I'm in the Valley! read more

The restaurant is spacious perfect since they don't take reservations. We got there early since there were 12 of us for a birthday party. Our waitress was good but service was slow from the bar. We ordered appetizers, the taquitos were really good, the cheese crisp was ok. The wait staff was good but food slow coming from the kitchen after we ordered our main courses, the restaurant was half full. Authentic flavors. read more

Went on Monday night. 7pm, not busy at all. Chips were stale, salsa tasted like canned tomatoes poured into a bowl. Awful!! Ordered a cheese crisp to start, came out burnt. Also frozen margarita. Wasn't frozen at all. Never going back. Manuel's used to be a great restaurant our family would dine at quite frequently. Quality is horrible now. Really disappointed. read more

We did takeout the other day. The food was ok. Just your ordinary Sonoran/Arizona food. What we didn't like was the $2.50 "service charge" they added to our total. We most likely won't order from them again. read more

I was there yesterday and was severely disappointed. Seriously, $15 dollar nachos. The restaurant was almost empty. This business will not last with the super high prices and drinks. There were only two servers for the entire place. After 10 minutes seated at our table could not even get a glass of water. Goodbye.... read more

It's our new favorite. Chips and salsa are an indication of the meal...these chips were delicious and salsas (mild and hot) were great! Tried the carnitas burrito bowl and the Monday special. Both were very good. Ended with the sopapillas. They were unique! Cut in small pieces so easily shared with. Served with caramel and honey! Yumm! We will be back! read more

Definitely not the same restaurant that I thought moved from the one on Cave Creek. Lack of flavor compared to when it was on Cave creek. Came by for a last minute to go order in the late afternoon. Wasn't too complicated order. Had new receptionist that took my order and was being trained. I ordered chips and salsa to go with and was not in bag. Previous restaurant I didn't have to ask. It was complementary. This was way after lunch crowd but before dinner crowd. Not many in restaurant. I didn't mind waiting . But it was like not all the cooks had come in and the waiters were doing the cooking the way it tasted. read more

Manuel's just recently took over this spot in the Sheaborhood. It's a terrific location. There is plenty of parking and the building itself has great features like retractable walls to open it up for more outdoor feeling dining space. This is perfect on nice days. We went in the other night when I didn't feel like cooking. The host greeted us and we opted to sit at the bar. The bartender also greeted us warmly and I liked that he had experience with the menu. They brought us chips and salsa to start. It's a nice gesture but they weren't anything special. Very ordinary chips and not warmed. I ordered the Picado which was highly recommended and my husband got an item from the combo menu. The picado was good and there was plenty of food. They also had some spicier sauce behind the counter when I asked for it. Overall our meals were good and the service was fine. We'll go back when we need something convenient. read more

We came here for a graduation celebration with a party of eight. We paid for dinner on one check. The good: The restaurant is very pretty inside. The hostess took our call ahead request for our party of eight and had a table ready for us early. food was pretty good, especially the carnitas. The chips and salsa were good. The bad far outweighed the good especially the deception with the bill: the service was horrible. Yes there were a few patrons at the restaurant, however, it was not full. There were plenty of empty tables and quite a few employees, some just standing around. Our waiter was barely around did not check on us at all. He didn't know his menu at all. He had to leave us to ask the answers (like: What is the age for the senior special). We never had any refills on water despite 3 of our party of eight having ordered just water. No refills on chips or salsa (He never came around). 5 ordered drinks right away and those came 30 minutes later. The food took almost an hour to come out. Items were missing from our order like the tortillas and despite asking for ketchup, it never came. We ordered fried ice cream and instead of telling us that there was an up charge for sauce, (which was not disclosed on the menu by the way, the menu advertised fried ice cream as a special and they listed the cost on the menu) the waiter instead said: which sauce would you like? Making it seem like it came with sauce and as many sauces as you'd like. Only to find out when the bill came that he charged us 4 times the cost of the advertised price for each ice cream ! He said there was a charge per sauce! That's just wrong. That should be disclosed or they should honor their advertised price. Lastly, given that it's basically one open room, it was very loud in there which made talking with our party of eight pretty difficult. read more

Great service, food, music and ambiance on a Saturday night! Looking forward to the next time!

I love this place!! Never had a bad experience here. The food is great the prices are affordable and the drinks are an added bonus this is my go to place when guests come to town 10 out of 5 stars!!! read more

The food was yummy, and the chips and salsa were delicious. The service was good from the main server, but from the people serving chips and salsa and seating us didn't seem too friendly. It was a beautiful day out in Arizona so we decided to sit outside. The fountains made the entrance very serene. I would go back! read more

Manuel's Mexican Restaurant - Cheese enchiladas with rice and beans - Mexican Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

In case you didn't already know, Manuel's serves classic Phoenix style Mexican food. Manuel's has been around since the 1960's and the food is pretty much the same. That means chips/salsa/hot sauce when you sit down, food that generally consists of a tortilla of some kind stuffed with only meat and usually smothered in red sauce and often deep fried plopped on a plate with refried pinto beans and mexican rice - don't forget the smattering of lettuce and cheese on top. (Those of you who grew up here are feeling all warm and cozy right now - this is our comfort food. Yum) Over the years Manuel's gained an informal reputation for one of the better salsas and good chicken tacos. Although, last time I went I tried a special they were having for carnitas and oh boy, that might be my new favorite if they do it again. When in doubt, their combination dinners are your best bet. They also have always had quick, friendly service and reasonable prices. This new location has all the above, but also it's decorated a little more modern with a little industrial twist and a wall of windows with a beautiful view of Squaw Peak. Still casual, though, so come dressed as you'd like. I love coming here because it's so welcoming and comfortable, and in this part of town you kind of get tired after a while of the airs our restaurants put on. I've never had to wait for a table, the food and drinks have always been good, and I've never, ever run into any staff who were less than present and pleasant. read more

Ambiance is classy modern , menu is old school classic Mex. We had salads first timers . Mine the taco salad , shredded chicken (the most moist tasty you will ever eat) with usual costars and add some of their delicious salsa , and BAM BAM BOOM , pure goodness . We can't wait to comeback to try cocktails , taco's and more . The server was A+ and all the other employees looked polished and sharp . I hate to think I've lived here 7 years and never tried this place . I would call this place a sure bet for the Mexican cuisine lover read more

Disappointed in the lack of service knowledge. Asked for to go chips and salsa...I will pay for it.. and said she would bring me containers for what is on my table. Take the time to listen to your customers. Food was great, but service was not. I guess I am making my own damn salsa... read more

I had the worst meal. I ordered tostada plus cheese crisp and quart of salsa for pick up . When I got home the cheese crisp was disgusting. It had blobs of cheese. I called to speak to manager to get my money back (just for cheese crisp ) because I threw it away and did not eat . I was on hold forever and some man got on phone and said manager wasn't there but took my name and number down and no one bothered to call me back. I asked them if they wanted me to post review and I wouldn't have if this establishment cared enough to call me back and refund my money. read more

Manuel's is lovely.... But for the love of god man, what's with the tequila selection??? Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a Mexican restaurant is it not? Can someone tell me why they have no top shelf tequila and only a few reposados??? It boggles the mind. Service can be a bit sketch as well... I think they are quite understaffed for the size of the place. read more

The food was good. We loved the location and decor (left over from the Tap Room). Our server acted as though we were bothering her. She wouldn't stop long enough to hear what we were asking. Our friends ordered a meal, but our server didn't pause long enough to hear their order. So they ended up with an à la cart burrito for only .89 cents less than the meal. It was happy hour when we came in, we would have ordered another margarita, but she didn't stop to check on us. Disappointed! read more

New Clean Fun Busy Loud ( but not at our booth) Food was good..... BUT! Small critique There was only one entree I could order as a vegetarian. Spinach Enchiladas, and they were really good.! NO chips or tortillas as they have lard. I called ahead to research my options. They were very nice on the phone and took time to help me. They have a food allergy sheet to look at. So, I didn't have to distract our server with questions. I know authentic Mexican restaurants cook with mostly lard. Which really limits me as far as dining in them. We came with friends at their request, otherwise i probably would not have gone. Next time I'm in the mood for spinach Enchiladas..... I'm there! Thank you for having them! read more
