Moksha Cafe is the hidden gem of a coffee shop I have been waiting for - now it's finally open and shining! I stopped in recently and was blown away. And now I'm there a few times a week. The coffee and espresso? Legitimately excellent--on par with some of the best third-wave shops on Long Island. Rich, smooth, perfectly brewed. You can tell they're serious about quality. The beans they use are from one of the best shops on Long Island, Flux Coffee in Farmingdale. The vibe here is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Great for meeting a friend, working, or just want to escape life for a bit. Fast Wi-Fi, plenty of comfortable seating, and a great selection of snacks that go way beyond your average café fare. What makes it even better is how much they clearly care about the local community. The staff is friendly and attentive, and there's a real neighborhood feel here - it feels like community. My boyfriend and I came here after I saw a video of the creme brûlée latte here. He got a macchiato and I of course got the creme brûlée iced latte with oat milk. It was so delicious. The interior was cute, it looks like they host different events as well. They also have alcoholic and kava beverages for later in the night. So I saw there is a new owner, I liked what I read about their concept of the business so I popped in this morning to grab a coffee. Brandon was working there and was very friendly & welcoming. They serve Flux coffee which I am familiar with, I have to say this was probably one of the best cups of coffee I've had! I ordered a cappuccino, which was rich and dark, but not bitter at all, had a deep dark chocolate taste. Brandon showed me which beans it was from, a Mexican that was really delicious. The vibe is welcoming, clean, modern & still cozy feeling. I'm glad to see a new owner that has the same community spirit that this place had way, way back when I used to go here. This is me rescinding my previous 2 star rating... Cafe Portofino is back!!! I stopped in today on my way up the street, and was so delighted and impressed to find that they'd painted over the sterile white and pastel colors with a much better dark green, and even put up some original art on the walls!! The overall feeling inside is way closer to what it used to be, but with updated decor and fixtures. I ordered a rainbow cookie latte, which was absolutely delicious. The raspberry, almond, and chocolate syrups perfectly captured the flavors of one of my all time favorite desserts! The barista was very nice and had it ready in no time. Overall, the tasty specialty drinks and vastly improved cozy vibe make me want to spend more time here with a good book. Needless to say, I will be back! read more

Cafe Portofino is a beautiful cafe on Main Street in Northport. I'm so pleased to have finally tried this coffee shop, as It's charm adds to the wholesomeness of this town! The ample amount of plants, string lights, and the wall art decor made for a positive, cheery, and relaxing experience. I was greeted by a friendly barista who was patient and helpfully informative, as she explained to me the difference between two drinks I was thinking about getting. I also appreciated the assortment of coffee syrups on display at the counter. I ultimately settled on a vanilla cold brew with oatmilk, which was quite satisfying. I'm excited to come back to Cafe Portofino in the future for one of the specialty drinks since they all seemed intriguing and delicious! :) read more

My daughter celebrated her 5th birthday by bringing friends to the Northport theatre to see Rapunzel and cafe Portofino made it the best party we could have imagined! The owner Sonny closed the place at 12 so we could have a private party and what a blast! They allowed us to order in pizza for the kids and they provided Cupcakes and muffins. The food was delicious and parents got to choose any specialty drink they desired. The kids played pin the tail on the unicorn, banged on a piñata till the candy came flying out and made crafts. Pretty new place but it is AMAZING. Baristas and owners are so friendly and helpful. The coffee and drinks are great quality. I was in town briefly but stopped for Coffee at "Portofino's" and was very pleased. Great setting, I was able to sit at a small table outside in the bright sun, which we haven't seen for days. Came here when they first reopened over a month ago. Waited to post review, came in today to grab a cold beverage. I had their mortadella sandwich with an iced coffee. The sandwich was warmed up perfectly. The ratio of meats and cheese was delightful. You find a lot of places will put too little or too much meats and cheese and will make the experience lacking or overwhelming and salty. The right balance is key and shows that they actually taste their own food. I thought all coffee was organic, apparently most we get are not organic. The iced coffee was delicious, refreshing and fruity. I don't think there are any establishments in a 20 mile radius that serves organic coffee so if you are into that kind of stuff this is your place. The staff there were very attentive and accommodating. They were very patient and interactive. The young manager who I believe ran the establishment was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Her team, who seemed to be local high school students, were friendly and willing to be of service. From what I was told by some of their patrons, caffe portofino is under mew management. And it was vehemently expressed the new ownership really cleaned up the place. I agree. Try it out, good stuff even better service. read more

So this place got a HUGE revamp! I would come here sometimes but decided to check it out the other day and saw that this cafe really had a glow up! From the decorations to the ambiance- it has changed for the better. Love the decorations and details that have gone into the decorations and the menu changed as well. The person who helped me was so I Jedi let kind, I will be back because of how kind she is! I tried some apple cider and avocado toast but I will be back to try all the different items they have on their menu. It also looked like they had some seasonal items on the menu as well. let's talk about the monotony of modern coffee. Every street you walk down, you see a Starbucks, a Dunkin, or some other common, soulless chain. and while those establishments are good for a quick pick-me-up, they really forget the true meaning of what a "cafe" is supposed to be. as an Italian myself, I find coffee to be incredibly important, and no business to me is more crucial to a sophisticated social life than a proper cafe. and while the homogenized chains of our modern world fail to provide that, I am elated to report that Cafe Portofino has completely up-hauled my expectations. the coffee was immaculate, the atmosphere perfect for a subtle conversation, and my server Chloe had wonderful recommendations for me as a first time guest. I will be returning here multiple times before I eventually go home. I was worried, finishing an afternoon in Huntington, hiking unexpectedly and unprepared on a cold day, traveling back east, I noticed on yelp that this cafe was one of our only options for a quick dose of the 'warmies' in the form of some hot cocoa and coffee (they've got tea too, if it's your pleasure) We decided to give it a try and I think we were both pretty satisfied. Listen, I know I just used the made up word "warmies" but hear me out; you can trust me that you'll enjoy this place the way we did and here's why: We walked in, waited briefly on line as there was one kid running the place, the shops piano was being played by what seemed to be a handyman on his lunch break. There were 99 paintings on the wall from the local gallery all up for sale. The vibe was okay, and the menu looked interesting enough. They've got all your basics and then some. We got a hot cocoa and a campfire mocha (I added a shot of caramel to it as they've got about 20 syrups to customize your drink to your liking) and a chocolate croissant. The croissant was aight, the hot cocoa hit the spot, as did the mocha. Before we left, a straggler noticed the piano player get up and leave, he asked the guy at the counter about the shops acoustic guitar, said thanks, and walked over; this gent picked up the guitar and started strumming along. That's different, and pretty cool. Maybe I'll go there and try to get strangers to give me lessons. Just pay for the coffee at 5 bux a pop. If you're in town and in the mood, check it out. First, I searched Yelp for reviews on this place before going. The reviews were positive enough, but they were inaccurate. My experience: Friday, lunchtime. One person running running the whole show, making smoothies, etc. The wait is long. Unnecessarily so. If you go thinking you'll get a freshly made sandwich/wrap, you're WRONG! All the food items are pre-made and just heated up. And all the paninis/wraps are skimpy on the fillings. $9.00 will get you a panini with a sliver of some kind of protein and it won't even taste good. You'll be paying mostly for bread!
