I visited South down for the first time the other day and I was pleasantly surprised! They had ample seating and different types of places to sit depending on your preference. Everything was clean, well signed, and it was bright and vibrant. They offer small food options and a variety of baked goods. They have many coffee and some tea options. The coffee was amazing! Working from home I needed a change of scenery. This place is only about 2 minutes from my apartment, so I decided to finally visit! It's bright and welcoming inside with a good amount of tables. I do wish there were more outlets as I only saw one, which was being occupied by another patron. I ordered a maple spice latte and I created my own egg sandwich. I added avocado and prosciutto. It was very good! At first I was mad at myself for forgetting hot sauce, but it didn't need it. Great flavor in every bite. And very filling! My latte was just okay. I didn't get much of a maple spice flavor, but it was still tasty. Customer service was excellent. They don't just call out or scream your name like Starbucks, they say your name and then hand it to you. They remember your face when you order. It's very personal this way. In Patchogue there are many coffee shops but I think I just found my new favorite. What I love about this place compared to the others on main street is how light and airy this one feels. It's modern, chic and not dark like the others. On top of that the food and drinks are delicious! I met a friend here and tried the matcha latte and an egg sandwich and was impressed with both. Pretty cool spot in the heart of Patchogue Village! Bright, spacious, and an inviting environment. I came here mid-week as a remote worker to have a change of scenery. Wifi was free and fast. I tried their seasonal Lavender Latte and it was DELICIOUS! (I'm not even a coffee drinker). I also tried their Avocado Toast, which was amazing as well. The only con is that I only saw 1 outlet for people that want to work remotely here, which can limit people's time if they want to hang out here longer. Bathrooms were clean. Had been looking forward to trying this place out...always up for new latte spots. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30. The kitchen we saw closes at 4:00 but thought we'd certainly be able to get a pastry. They had a cart with trays and trays of various breads and when I asked what they had was told those were for tomorrow. Literally the only thing we could get by way of lighter fare was a chocolate biscotti because they had almost nothing left on the display. The spiced latte I didn't enjoy but that's a preference thing. Garbage can was overflowing, neither employee was wearing a branded T or apron, crumbs on the counters, chairs all askew, no towels in the bathroom. They appear to be going for the relaxed, chic vibe but I don't find a messy environment appealing. Think we'll stick with the coffee place across the street when in the area. read more

I love the vibes in Southdown and the staff is always super friendly. I like to watch them prepare drinks because they always look like they are putting a little love into them. The space itself is bright due to a lot of windows and never seems too crowded so I suspect it would be a good place to get some work done. They have some interesting flavors (some of which I definitely do NOT like lol but I try everything and I appreciate their ability to think outside the box with flavorings). I left a star off because I am a coffee snob and I don't mind paying for a deluxe coffee but their prices are among the most expensive I have encountered on Long Island. That doesn't stop me from going there at least once a week. The snacks are good too! I've only had the bakery items but they've all been delicious and I will definitely be trying one of their sammies soon. read more

First time coming here with my girlfriend and I'll say that the ambiance inside the coffee shop is very clean and minimalistic which is what I enjoy in a coffee shop. The coffee and matcha drinks we had were pretty good and if you decide to have a coffee to stay, they give you a glass cup which is pretty nice. Only one issue: My friend needed to bring her small dog to our coffee meet and when I searched for a coffee spot that would be dog friendly, I noticed on the website that dogs were allowed. There was even a photo of a man with a small dog among the gallery photos. So I met her with her small dog who was in a stroller and leashed. But then I saw on the front door of the cafe that "No dogs were allowed - Only Service Dogs" So we had to sit outside, which was nice, but if the weather was bad it would have been a problem. Have been here twice so far and the coffee has been really good! They release fun flavors for the season and the staff is helpful. I tried out the olive oil polenta cake - sounds like it would taste savory but it's sweet and delicious! Try it! They sometimes have samples out if you want to give some eating items a shot. My only gripe is that the prices can be a little extra - especially for the fun flavors - think 2 drinks on the small side can be anywhere from 10 to 13 dollars. Can't say I'm impressed. The specialty coffee is mediocre at best and even though i ordered a hot coffee it was room temperature at best. The egg sandwich which took ages to make despite no one being in there besides me was rubbery and cold. Personally i don't believe their offerings justify their prices. Coffee was fantastic. I had a cappuccino and it was perfectly made. The baked goods all look amazing and we tried the cinnamon bun, which was delicious. We also tried the sample of the coffee cake with raspberry preserve and it was exactly like a coffee cake should be. Such a great space to come and sit and have coffee.
