    The perfect shot.

With some time on my hands today I figured why not write up a quick review from my morning meal at The Study? I mean it's worth a speedy turn around because you'll want to make your way over here and spend some time taking in the vibes (and maybe the food/drink), just like my wife and I did earlier in the AM hours. You see, more than anything else, The Study emanates the perfect concoction of a coffee shop, comfy lounge, get-work-done location, and jazzy hangout. The books on the walls, eclectically odd yet comical artwork, and random seating options really hit perfectly. Toast had a fantastic idea here in creating this combo of a spot. Now with that more laidback and lounge-y feel comes less of a full-fledged place to actually get a meal. The Study has their "Test Kitchen" which offers up a small menu of breakfast and lunch options, plus there's a yogurt bar and baked goods to choose from, but don't expect the lengthy menu you'd find at big brother Toast. Same can be said with the coffee/drink options as things are definitely toned down here, but perhaps that's a good thing in giving The Study its own personality. Well, there's good and bad in that mindset of individuality because I'll say my iced latte with pistachio syrup was good, though perhaps was missing a small extra punch of espresso that I feel like I get from Toast. For food, I did partake in the Billionaires Wrap which combined some wild flavors (bacon jam, dill havarti, black truffle aioli) amidst their eggs and "smash browns" and definitely tasted good, though it came in at a whopping $18 which is quite steep for my little handheld. My wife's yogurt parfait was also an interestingly thicker type of yogurt, though fresh nonetheless. So perhaps the food and drink wasn't competently what was expected, but I'll throw another big positive out there in stating that the staff was definitely helpful and friendly. It's a seat yourself kind of setup here, but staff will bring you your drinks/grub to your table and lets you know where to find anything you might need (utensils, napkins, etc.). Perhaps you can't eat or drink the vibe and service, but it does entice you to want to return. Overall, I'd definitely come back to The Study (albeit it's a little out of my way) again in the near future. No, you can't eat the ambiance, but the feels in here alone are worthy of a second trip with hopes that coffee can be a little stronger, food a little differently priced (with more great tastes from other options), and a desire for continued superb service. Go bask in those feels and see what The Study is all about.

Drinks were delicious! No set specialty drinks but you can get a latte or coffee and put any flavor inside. It is consistently busy so be aware of that, but the inside is very cute and vintage inspired. Staff also very nice and friendly. Great place!!

"Another" spot for breakfast in my 'nabe? God Bless us everyone. This spot was renovated years ago, I remember talking to the owner who invested a lot of money in the space and even used imported Italian tiles. He made a beautiful spot that closed within a year. Fast forward to 2025. Toast took over the spot and created The Study. Anywhere Toast goes, its always a home run. They serve great food and each location is always a popular packed spot. I walked in today a little after 8:30am and there were already people chillin'. WiFi is free and its fast. You can study, relax and read in comfy chairs or choose a booth if you have a larger party. The owners really made a nice looking restaurant. The question is, does the restaurant serve the same quality as the main restaurants? Walking in, I see a bunch of baked good proudly on display. I have to go deep on my first visit so I ordered the Breakfast Bun. Two eggs (I had them scramble mine), American cheese on a freshly baked roll. The sandwich had a tomato aioli spread and I added a sausage patty for an additional up charge. Overall, this had to be one of the best B.E.C breakfast sandwiches I had in a very long time. What I like about this spot, I can grab a coffee to go throughout the day. I don't need to study, just a coffee to go and then food shopping. The breakfast was great, the lunch menu was equally impressive. Lots of wraps, salads and burgers?! And they serve alcohol as well?? Gimme somethin' to write on man! The Study has arrived in East Setauket.

This place has a really cool vibe! Perfect to get some work done, have a date, enjoy some strong coffee and/or some tasty food. You order up front and get a number. They bring your food to your table. Not sure how it would be if it was crowded but it was perfect for a weekday breakfast.

** 5/5 -- A Hidden Gem Worth Savoring!** If you ever find yourself in East Setauket, *The Study by Toast* is an absolute must-visit. I stopped in recently and was completely impressed from start to finish. I ordered the **Breakfast Bun** -- two perfectly cooked eggs, New School American cheese, tomato aioli, and a soft, warm cemita roll (I added bacon, of course). It was *outstanding* -- easily the best breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time. The bread was pillow-soft, the eggs were cooked just right, and the flavors came together in the most satisfying way. You can tell real care goes into every detail here. I also had a **macchiato**, which was rich, smooth, and beautifully balanced -- exactly how a good coffee should be. The staff deserves a special mention: genuinely friendly, helpful, and engaging. You feel welcomed the moment you walk in. The ambiance is spot-on -- the kind of cozy, thoughtfully designed space that's perfect for studying, working remotely, or just relaxing. Soft background music, comfy lounge couches, and even board games create such an inviting vibe. It's also a wonderful place to catch up with friends or even meet for a casual date. Whether you're there to unwind after a long day or start your morning right, *The Study by Toast* hits all the right notes. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu -- especially the desserts. Highly recommend stopping by -- this place is truly a standout in East Setauket!

First things first, this place is popular and packed, which already tells you everything you need to know about the food and the vibes. Your first mission when you arrive is to find a seat, because it fills up fast! Once you're settled, you order at the counter. The menu isn't as big as Toast, but it's got some really great options, from parfaits to breakfast dishes and lunch items. I got the wrap with truffle (because I'll order anything truffle-related, always) and oh man... sooo good! I devoured it so fast I didn't even get a picture, what is wrong with me?! We sat by the bar, which has a full drink menu, and the service was amazing, especially considering how busy it was. The atmosphere is super nice, chill, and relaxed, just a great spot overall. Honestly, I'd come here again and again. Next time, I promise I'll take pictures!

The Study by Toast is a cozy spot for breakfast or lunch with family or friends, as well as getting work done in their comfortable lounge seating. If you stay, they'll provide you with a number that also includes their Wi-Fi password. Their menu items and drinks are posted on the walls with prices clearly stated. We went on a late Sunday morning and luckily there wasn't a long line. I ordered the 3 village fry up, which felt very healthy and it was delicious. I didn't care for the horchata de arroz, but to each their own. My husband ordered a cruller with a vanilla bean latte. Would be back if I need a change of pace. There's definitely some stuff I would try for lunch.

Took my husband here for his birthday breakfast & it was the coziest place ! We've been wanting to come here for a while and I'm so glad we finally went! The staff was so friendly and the food/coffee was delicious! + if you're a book lover like me you're going to appreciate the ambiance even more! It was so beautiful, had so many fun details, i just wanted to pull my book out of my purse and go cozy up on the sofa lol I can't wait to go back soon (hopefully for some events!)

So impressed with the study! The vibes are perfect for a chill coffee spot. Food varies from snack to meal and there are a good amount of vegan options. The staff is kind and the food came out quickly. I will definitely be back!

The study is a major uplift to the community; a cozy hideaway in the quiet hub of Heritage Square, it boasts freshly baked pastries, handmade lattes, an delicious breakfast and lunch menu, and specialty cocktails and spirits. A great place to have a study hang, date night, breakfast with the fam, or just to chill and enjoy the atmosphere, food, and drink. They will start to have Iive music soon as well! They have only been open for two weeks but I'm excited for their arrival and are surely going to be a staple in the neighborhood!

    Matthew N.

All I can say is that this place is magnificent! Toast has done it again by opening a unique venue in a location that no other restaurant could survive in. Hidden in every way, word is spreading and the location adds to the speakeasy meets library vibe. Great food? Great coffee? Cocktails? You get what you pay for so it won't come cheap, but reasonable pricing nonetheless. The cold brew Chamomile had just the right amount of sweetness and the Wagyu chopped cheese added class while removing some grease from a NYC staple. I'll be back morning, afternoon, and night...I just hope I'll be able to find a seat.

I don't often change it up from my go-to coffee order, so I ordered an iced latte with almond milk and sugar-free vanilla. For food, I leaned into the barista to help me with this one. I was torn between the breakfast burrito and the famous egg sandwich. I ended up going with the breakfast burrito (two eggs, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream). It was fresh and flavorful. I think some salsa would be a perfect pair with it, but I'll see if they have that next time! At $15, it's a little on the pricey side, but it was worth it. The matcha and drinks are made in front of you. The lids and straws are located across from where you pick your order up from. After trying the regular matcha, my partner opted to add some vanilla syrup, which we were informed was made in house. That made the matcha taste so good, for me, that I swapped drinks with my partner and kept the vanilla matcha, my partner really liked the strawberry matcha, made with strawberry puree. Paid under $17 for both drinks. Would come back to try other items.

Seated immediately. My friend and I shared the steak with penne dinner special and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. My daughter ordered penne with butter off the kids menu. My son got a turkey burger and his friend got a grilled chicken sandwich on a hero instead of a wrap. Now the good -- portions were huge! My son could barely fit his burger in his mouth and it also had a half avocado on it. They didn't skimp. Steak with penne was delicious and so was the Cobb salad. We all shared off each other's plates because everything looked so amazing. Now the bad. My daughter's pasta was elbows, not penne as indicated on the menu. Not a catastrophe but she was looking forward to penne. Then - my son's friend put some ketchup on his plate for his fries. It was ,.. not red but brown. The bottle had an 8/25 expiration. We are in April 2026. We told the server and she said it's because it's the "simply ketchup" with no artificial dyes. She offered him ketchup packets "with fake dyes" but by that point he lost his appetite for fries. We grabbed ketchup from another table, same brand, Heinz Simply. You can see the difference in color. We showed the server and she acted annoyed. I told her we didn't want anyone getting sick on that ketchup and pointed out the expiration date. She rolled her eyes and said "oh I'll just throw it away." She kind of had an attitude and didn't even apologize. So that's why 4 stars. We'd go back but request not to have that server.
