This place is immaculate. The team obviously takes pride in what they do here. I observed one team member polishing a coffee pot in the down time and another straightening tables. I also appreciated the option of having my latte in a mug to enjoy in the shop. All their service ware is branded (see photos). I was actually surprised at how empty it was on such a nice day. Came in at 11am on a Friday intending for some productive work /study on my laptop. The place is nicely furnished with simple wood and leather, coffee color dominant throughout. Chairs and tables are at a comfortable height and size, strategically placed for efficient traffic flow. I ordered their signature Moka Spice Latte, $8. It came in a cool looking tall glass and tasted good, a it too much ice - ask for less. Make sure to mix as the coffee is floating on top when served and will taste bitter. They also have many colorful and tempting pastries / breakfast items to eat. The booth and chairs are comfortable and offers small pillows for further relaxing. Downsides are: Electrical outlets are only available at the bar seats at front by window - none at booths. No sunshade at bar seating area makes it hard to work/sit when ceiling tall windows facing the rising sun hit your face Music in the background can be welcoming to those hanging out, but not for productivity. Headphones will have to be noise canceling. No Wi-Fi / was down that day? Overall a good coffee spot to check out, just not ideal for productivity, more for hangouts / socializing. read more

Met a friend here for a coffee (Penn station location) we enjoyed our drinks but definitely on the pricier side. Just a cold brew was pushing $10 after tax, and my friend's latte was even more. NYC coffee is pricy but this was higher than usual. One of their speciality lattes started at $12... They have lots of unique options along with your regular matchas and espresso drinks. Fun to try for a unique coffee- I know a lot of people come here for the Yemeni/Turkish options. Too expensive turn into a go-to. Lots of seating! They have pastries and also bakery sandwiches! I didn't work from here- but they do have wifi and plenty of tables so it could be a good spot if you're in the area. read more

Came in with friends. None of us were satisfied. First off when I asked the girls at the counter which is their most popular pastry. She just looked at me and pointed directly to something near her. And I took her word for it. It was the raspberry pastry. I also got a strawberry matcha. Mango dragon fruit drink was made wrong and the girls were confronting each other about it. Also got the mango pastry. We tried the spinach savory pastry as well and a berry croissant. The spinach pastry would have tasted better warmed up but it was cold. The fruit pastry weren't tasty at all. The mango dragonfruit drink was overly sweet was not edible we threw it out. The matcha was sweet as well and it wasn't a good matcha. 0/10 wouldn't come back again. Placed an order for two 92oz packs on a Saturday morning, more than an hour in advance to find that the store hadn't even started on the order! What's the point of ordering ahead then. Their excuse, oh it has been busy. That's not an excuse. If you can't manage orders you shouldn't even be taking online orders. Had I known they'd be this slow and incompetent I wouldn't waste time on them and I would just go to one of the many other coffee shops on the same block. Horrible service! Ordered: Lemon Mint Frozen Blend (~$9) Mango Dragonfruit Refresher (~$8) Aya's take: Last time I came here I wasn't thrilled about the coffee or pastry we got, but I found myself back for somewhat of a redemption and sadly, they did not redeem themselves. This time we got 2 fruit-based drinks which they said were made with real fruits. That was super promising and honestly, I believe them. For starters, the drinks are overpriced. The Lemon Mint Frozen Blend could be found in other spots on Steinway for ~$5 and taste better. It needed some sweetness to balance out the sourness from the lemon and also it wasn't blended thoroughly. The Mango Dragonfruit Refresher was cold and refreshing but I didn't taste mango whatsoever. The dragonfruit was there but again, it could've used a touch of sweetness to bring out the flavors. I visited their Astoria location, which opens till midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends. They also have locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn with different opening hours. Their pistachio desserts are seriously delicious, especially the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Cake. Imagine when pistachio tiramisu meets dubai chocolate bar. ＊Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Cake*** Love at first bite!! The cake consisted of chocolate cake, pistachio cream, crunchy kunafa, and crushed pistachio. It was nutty, slightly sweet, and moist. A decadent dessert for pistachio lovers as the pistachio flavor truly shines. ＊Pistachio Napoleon Cake Roll** We were recommended to try their pistachio Napoleon roll and it won our heart instantly! It was basically a Napoleon pastry but rolled up like a Swiss roll. The center was filled with sweet cream and berries, with a cookie-like cracked topping baked onto the outside of the cake roll. ＊Bee Bites (Honey Comb Cake) You have to get their honey comb cake, a traditional Yemeni bread made of small dough balls filled with cream cheese and drizzled with honey. This review is based on a visit in Oct 2024. This spot is convenient, but it doesn't stand out-aside from having a nice exterior. It's a decent place to sit especially since it wasn't crowded during my visit. I came on a weekday night and I appreciate they stay open late. However, the experience wasn't great overall. The music was loud, the service felt unfriendly, and the pricing doesn't match the quality. I had a few questions but the staff's attitude discouraged me from asking further. This cafe has potential because of its location, hours, and available seating. But honestly, I would choose Qahwah House over this place any day. The adeni tea there is better and more affordable. I would say that this place is a lot better than Qahwah House which is comparable to it (and the service is a lot better on top of that). I liked the lotus biscoff tres leches but to be honest I would definitely not call it a tres leches as there was no milk and it was quite dry. Was it still good? Revisited Moka & Co recently with my sister to get some work done. While the space is large and airy, I found myself hunting for a table with an outlet - there aren't many, which is a bit of a bummer when your laptop's about to flatline (note to laptop workers: outlet is located at the high seats and two tables near the entrance wall). They do have Wi-Fi though, so that's a plus! This time around, I decided to skip their more unique offerings like the Yemeni coffee and Shai Adeni, which didn't quite hit the mark for me on a previous visit. Instead, I opted for the Pistachio Latte, and my sister went for their Strawberry Lemonade refresher. Pistachio Latte ($9) This Pistachio Latte was pure magic. Hands down one of the best lattes my sister and I have ever had. The balance of sweetness and pistachio flavor was spot on, and it wasn't too bitter. This is definitely going to be my go-to from this spot from now on. 5/5 stars for sure. Strawberry Lemonade ($7) My sister's Strawberry Lemonade was everything she hoped for - sour, tart, and super refreshing. She gave it 4.5 stars, saying it was pretty much perfection in a cup. Came here for the Yemeni iced latte and it was delicious, with hints of cardamom and maybe some other spices. It was creamy, sweet but not too sweet and refreshing. I really really like trying coffee from all around the world and this place opened relatively recently. I think it's serving the community an important role, especially since it's quite spacious with tons of seating so you could definitely hang out for a bit. They also have some desserts that I didn't get to try but would definitely come back especially my next time in Astoria. I think any place giving us something a bit new/different has so much value and it's hard to find coffee spots where you can just vibe/hang out with some friends these days. It was eid day and I could not think of a better experience than to try this new cafe right in the heart of Astoria on the action packed Steinway street. My first impression of this place is that the interior is super modern and welcoming with ample seating and great ambience. My friend ordered the adeni chai and I had the saffron chai. First off I will say that the lady at the register had a major attitude, definitely not friendly or polite. When she spoke I could barely hear what she was saying. She gave me no cues to indicate to me that she's ready to take my order, it felt like I was inconveniencing her with my request. I really think the customer facing staff should be friendlier. We ended up getting the tiramisu in the chocolate cup and the saffron milk cake to accompany our drinks. I was surprised that a dessert so small was priced at $12 each, it seems excessively expensive for a 1.5 x 4 inch piece of cake. The chai was made well and I liked the hint of saffron in mine. The saffron milk cake was okay, it was a little too dense and not soaked all the way through. I did not taste the saffron much as flavors were muted. The tiramisu cup left a lot to be desired. It was missing the classic mascarpone cream and the lady fingers in the bottom were dry and not properly soaked. After paying $40 it felt like we got robbed. The service was certainly on the slower side - but I did come on a busy Saturday where most of the cafe was filled. Also impt to consider that freshly brewed tea will take some time. It took about 15 minutes to get our items. I thought the adeni chai was lovely, a warm cup of comfort. The sabaya pastry had a lot left to be desired. It tasted dry and eggy and likely just not fresh. The prices are on the higher end. The menu does not list the prices of the pastries, but the sabaya was $10 (underwhelming for its price). Astoria's newest coffee shop, Moka & Co, just opened last week. They are a Yemeni coffee shop offering traditional specialty coffees, teas, and desserts. The café is huge, feels very roomy with modern décor. I would imagine it be a great place to hang out and work on your laptop. They just opened last week and are still in their soft opening phase. I'm actually not a huge coffee person so I came mainly to check out their dessert. The display case showcased some very impressive looking pastries. They had some traditional pastries (croissants, muffins, breads) and some Yemeni/Middle Eastern desserts (Basbousa, Sabaya, etc.). Some of the pastries had labels, some did not. And none had prices listed next to them nor on the overhead menu. Just beware because you might get sticker shock as the pastries are a bit pricey. I ended up getting a chocolate dessert that had a Ferrero Rocher candy on top of it and a slice of banana bread. My total with tax and tip was around $25. The chocolate dessert (I don't know the name of it) was so delicious and worth every penny! While it had a Ferrero Rocher candy garnish, it did not taste like one. It was a creamy dark chocolate mousse on top of a vanilla cake sliver, with a chopped hazelnut center, and dipped in dark chocolate. It was rich but not sickeningly sweet, if that makes sense. It's the type of dessert you eat slowly and savor each bite. The banana bread was also very good but clearly overshadowed by the chocolate dessert. It was fresh, moist and had a nice banana flavor. I'm very curious about their other pastries, especially the Yemeni ones. Maybe next time, I'll try their coffee as well. read more

I'm obsessed with this coffee shop. It's the perfect place to go to if you're "working from home". Internet is always reliable and it's huge and comfortable. I take all my work meetings here. Their lavender matcha is DELICIOUS. And they also have a good amount of charging areas for laptops. A great spot for Yemeni coffee and other amazing drinks and desserts! This spot has been on my list for a few weeks and I'm so happy I finally gave it a try. Located in bustling Astoria, it's a really large space with outdoor seating, which was perfect for the beautiful weather we had. There's a great deal of seating inside and it's really busy and lively. I grabbed a seat inside (thanks allergies) and ordered a 16oz Jubani and a quiche. They also have a wide selection of tea drinks for those who don't like coffee, and some really amazing desserts and pastries. The quiche was really great, although a bit cold. But, it has chicken in it and was fairly filling for me. The Jubani was delicious! If you enjoy ginger in your coffee (it sounds strange but taste amazing!), give this a try! I do plan to revisit in the future and try their other drinks and foods. If you're in the area and want some good coffee or a nice Adeni chai, I recommend popping in! read more

We stumbled upon this during its soft launch period, as one of my friends had to take a video call while we were in Astoria, and we couldn't find a cafe with seating. The cafe has a lovely ambience and clean bathrooms. The seating is surprisingly spacious for a coffee shop and there were some people studying and hanging out. I stopped by this cafe because Zohran recommended it, but the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. I do not recommend this place. When my friend and I walked in, the first thing we saw was a male employee leaning casually on top of the pastry case. He was polite, but only stood upright when another customer approached, which in hindsight should have been our queue to leave. The desserts in the display case were covered in condensation, so we opted for pastries instead and ordered a pistachio latte and two pastries. We returned to the car and realized the pastries were barely room temp and weren't warmed properly. We were only given one set of utensils and an extra knife, which already made things inconvenient, but things got worse. When I lifted my latte to take a sip, the lid popped off completely and the drink spilled all over my clothes and seat belt. I was furious and went back inside as I had a 3 hr drive to do and did not have any replacement clothes. A female employee had replaced the previous staff member, and while she apologized and tried to be kind, she informed me that their bathroom hand dryers "don't work." Both bathrooms clearly have hand dryers, so either they were broken or the store simply chooses not to maintain them. I had to wash my clothes by hand in the bathroom with no way to dry them. When I came out, she asked what she could do to help, but there was little that would actually fix the situation besides covering dry cleaning or replacing my ruined clothing. She said she didn't have the authority to approve that, but would contact the owner to let him know. She did offer a new coffee and pastry to which I declined the pastry. She refunded only the coffee portion of the order, but at that point the food and service had already been a terrible experience. A week has passed with no follow-up from the store. Overall, the lack of care from the staff, the poor product quality, and the absence of any meaningful customer service resolution make it clear that this business does not prioritize its customers. I strongly advise others to think twice before visiting. read more

All these words in one sentence is like music to my ears and make me so happy. :) I don't ever know what the desserts are just by looking at them so I'm happy that the lady who served me yesterday was helpful and patient with me! Not every dessert had a sign so I was unsure of what I was looking at sometimes even though it was pretty and tempting. lol. I love their extensive list of beverages to choose from. It was hard for me to choose what I wanted but I knew I wanted a coffee rather than chai. I ended up getting the Moka Spice Latte, a saffron cake, pistachio croissant, a brownie and cupcake (for daughter who doesn't like Middle Eastern flavored desserts yet - lol), and sabayah. Not going to lie, I spent a lot of money. I spent $60ish for all of that. But I don't get mad because 1.) I love supporting Yemeni biz, 2.) I love supporting Muslim-owned biz, and 3.) The saffron cake... ummm wasn't what I expected but I really wanted to try it because on the Great British Baking Show, someone is always trying to put saffron in their cake. So I wanted to know! Is it good or what? It's definitely good! But I think that I needed to pair it with chai to experience it better. The brownie and cupcake were apparently really good (I'm going based off her facial expressions lol). The sabayah was absolutely crack. I'm obsessed with sabayah.... I could eat it nonstop, all day, every day. The aesthetics are honestly my favorite thing... something about brown scale is comforting and makes you feel at home. If I had all the time in the world yesterday, I would have stayed longer!!!!! Overall, a coffee shop that I recommend for all that are bougie coffee and desserts girlies like me. The baklava is delightful and the adeni chai is full of spice in a good way. There are a lot of seats but I didnt notice any outlets so maybe not the best spot for a wfh kinda day. read more

Moka & Co is a brand new Yemeni coffee shop that opened in Astoria Queens. They offer a ton of drinks and delicious pastry options and are open until midnight most nights and 1 AM on weekends! They have plenty of seating too. I went on a Sunday morning and it was super busy, but I was still able to find a seat. The staff is extremely friendly and it's a great spot to catch up with friends or spend the day working. I ordered the iced shai - adeni tea topped with cold foam moka spice latte - this drink tasted really good.
