Simply delicious. We had the parrilla mojito, vaca frita, shredded pork arepa as well as a tucan (passion fruit alcoholic drink). It's a humble place with a lot of character. Nestled in an awkward triangle lot, you feel the homey-ness and community style that I've grown to admire from Latin American restaurants. Vibrant walls and concrete tables with coins stuck in them; not the typical "classy" American style place but we love it! The arepa was pure comfort and deliciousness. Succulent shredded pork in an arepa that was soft on the inside and perfectly cripsy on the outside. Best arepa I've had. A complete mess to eat, but so worth it. It came on a bed of greens and with a vinegar based avocado dip that was out of this world. We will likely be experimenting with vinegar and avocados now to mimic that incredible balance of flavor! At only $4, its probably the best deal for a quick snack! With the greens and dip it was like a mini-meal. The plates were absolutely amazing. Characterized by flavorful marinated meat and well balanced sides. The vaca frita came with some delicious maduros and fresca (something that's missing from our maduros at the beloved Bongo's). I had more of the amazing avocado-vinegar on my parrilla mojito; splendid. We could have taken more home for a second meal, but instead devoured it on the spot. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, so if there was a weakness, it was the smashed plaintain, yet even there the spicy sauce on that brightened it up for me. Oh, and before I forget, if you like spice, ask for their homemade spicy sauce. I think it's habenero based and it's superb with everything. Lastly, the drink was great as well! I think the rest of the meal blew us away and the nuanced drink was slightly overshadowed. It was strong but not knock-you-out strong; so order away and drink sporadically. We were pretty nervous going here with the wide variety of reviews and a (supposedly) authentic Cuban claiming this place was trash. Well, either they should share where they get their superior Latin American food or publish their recipes because this place was fantastic in our minds! read more

Very delicious empanadas! I would give the empanada 5 billion stars! I got the shredded beef one. The entre - Parillo Mojito- was solid and yummy, but it didn't blow me away. It was a nice amount of meat though - they did not skimp on the portion sizes if that's important to you. read more

Went there the other day for the first time, my friend and I were trying to decide where to eat so I checked the Yelp and noticed Mojito have many great reviews. So figures, we decided to stop there and as soon as we walked in, the waiter immediately seat us with a great attitude, got us drinks so fast than we'd blink. The food was awesome, ordered a chicken sandwich, so tasty, so juicy and the bread was very soft, very easy to eat. I noticed different food on other tables, they look good, too! The cooker even came to us asking how we liked the food then started chatting with us for a few. I thought it was pretty cool. GREAT and I'd definitely recommend if you are in the area. read more

Everything was delicious but the congrí and the white rice. The congrí was not well made and was not seasoned the way its suppose to be. The rice is just too soft. They add to much water on the rice and it makes it seem like you're eating Asian rice. Hispanic rice is made with less water. The rice needs to be more grainy. I've visited this restaurant multiple times, so this is a thoroughly researched review! The food and drinks are incredible. I always order the mojito (a full lime in each!). I've had several of the other dishes on the menu, and everything has been amazing so far. The plantain app is just enough for two to split, and the entrees are large enough to take some home. The food can be a little costly, but it's worth it for the authentic flavors and cooking styles. The meat in particular is clearly slow cooked and marinated for long periods of time. Pabellón is my favorite dish so far! The only downside is that the wait staff doesn't seem to assign tables. Instead, they both check in with everyone. This leads to them checking in a LOT since they double up. It makes keeping up conversation kind of difficult. The food can also take a while to get to the table, but this doesn't bother me too much here since the atmosphere is laid back and the food never takes more than 20-30 min. All in all, the food is worth the cost and wait - go here and try it out! read more

Upon reading reviews of many Yelpers I found that for this type of cuisine, this was the place to check out. Located on the corner of Lake City Way, this was the perfect spot for a late lunch with our kids. As we arrived, we were greeted by the owner who made us feel like at home. Suddenly I felt nostalgia and missed that feeling in the SF Bay Area. It was nice to travel many miles north to dine at a place where you can just talk to the owner, like old buddies growing up together. To add to the amazing experience here, everything we've ordered was the best we've eaten on our entire trip throughout Washington. I even ate all the olives on my dish, and I don't even like olives. Need dish recommendations? Try everything! We tried like 1/4 of the menu and they were all good with variations of flavor. Then having not drink in a long time as well, I decided why not order the Caipirinha. Of course, that tipped me out a bit too early in the day but I made sure my husband was the sober one this time. Interestingly, I was watching the couple across from us eating nothing but ordering cocktails nonstop. By the time we finished eating, they were already on their 6th round. Simply amazing to watch! I mean it was a nice sunny day on the patio, it's so hard to say no to a good cocktail. In conclusion, don't leave Washington (if you're a visitor) without trying this place out! Amazing food! We had salads with a super yummy special Mojito dressing, empanadas were fantastic (we got cheese), and shared the Camarones Carmen Miranda that came with tostones. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but after ordering from this place, I felt like I just had to. I'm a huge fan of Cuban sandwiches and I cook mojo pork at home a lot. The sandwich I just had delivered from Mojito was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Super simple, just like it should be, but that pork is unreal. And for $10?! Get out! I feel like food-delivery is usually a pretty poor representation of what restaurants are really capable of. If that's the case, I can't wait to try this served fresh in the restaurant. This place was so awesome! Very cute, tiny building with lots of patio space as well as indoor seating, but boy, the size of the kitchen didn't slow them down at all or make our experience rushed at. It was a packed house and both our meals were still out under 15 minutes. Staff was super friendly and provided really great service and joked with us, and the food was incredible. We had the vaca frita and the pabellón and both were really great. Watch the hot sauce, our server warned us it was hot but I was overambitious and paid the price haha. We also had the Pisco Sour and the Tucan and both drinks were really good! We'll definitely come here again, and if you haven't been here, come try it! read more

Some of the stuff still tastes like home here but thought I would update my review now that I've been here in person. I should preface by saying that I'm from south Florida (big Hispanic community) and I am also Hispanic -- therefore, I have eaten A LOT of Hispanic food. Specifically, coming from Colombian/Venezuelan parents, I was a little nervous about the food being underwhelming here. Overall, a pretty good place for Seattle and I am giving it a 4 stars now that I have tried more of their menu items. It seems like this place is the closest thing I'll get to authentic Cuban/Colombian/Venezuelan cooking and I'm not mad at it either. Our favorite was the arepa - the dough was very well flavored and so was the meat. It transported me back home to my Mom's kitchen. Least favorite? Sadly the empanada. The dough looked like it was cracking - probably due to dryness, and it was not fresh despite us waiting forever for it. We finished our meals before receiving the empanada which was kind of sad since we expected it as an appetizer. The tres leches cake was also not super authentic but still good - however, I didn't like the strawberry sauce they drizzled on it as it masked a lot of the other cake flavors. On a positive note, their Mojitos are well made and their customer service was decent. Overall, a pretty good place nonetheless -- good for Seattle but not everything will taste like home though. If I could give 5 stars to the manager alone though? Would definitively :) as we were leaving, he said bye to us from the kitchen as he helped his staff out. read more
