I took a trip to Seattle with my husband for our anniversary. He's from Venezuela and was anxious to go somewhere that served South American food. We YELP searched and decided on Mojito. We are glad we came! We had arepas, ceviche, fish, and half of a chicken. We liked the ceviche and were wowed over the fish and chicken dishes. I should have written the names down so I could order them again! The fish was baked in a banana leaf and was coated in cinnamon. The baked chicken was the best chicken I had in a long time. The fried plantains were AMAZING. My husband was confused by the fried arepa. Mine was good except it kept falling apart. The waitstaff was attentive and refilled our glasses. One of my favorite restaurants on Earth. I selfishly don't want people to know about it to keep this gem all to myself, but it's so good everyone should eat here. The food is amazing, can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorite is the Pepito sandwiche with grilled steak. I've come here for birthdays, high school dances, first dates, scheduled date nights in stale relationships, when I'm stoned and hungry, or when I just want some damn good crispy Caribbean chicken and scrumptious rice with the best sauces. Try the homemade sauces. They're super dank and the habanero will get you if you're cocky. You've driven past here a million times. Stop living in the Matrix! This place has to be one of my favorite places in Seattle. I only wished I lived closer! Service is always amazing and if Luam (one of the owners) is there which he usually is, he makes you feel right at home and welcomed. The cuban sandwiches are a must as well as the Lechon Asado. The mojitos are made with a particular rum from Puerto Rico "Don Q" which is difficult to find here in Seattle. Must give a 5 star rating and would give a 6 if i could. Very small, cute place! A little too cramped at times but the mojitos and the food are amazing, as authentic as it gets in this area. Beside it being a Hispanic restaurant we were the only Spanish-speaking people in the whole place. But if you're genuinely hungry this is probably the wrong place to go. If you get lucky enough to find a table it's still an average 40-50 minute wait to actually be served. Tip: bring a snack. read more

After going thru Yelp left and right I stumbled across this restaurant. I have had Colombian & Venezuelan food before so it was a no brainer to come to eat at a place like this. From my hotel to this establishment was a drive but after having their food I gotta say I'm glad I did do the drive. As soon as I walked in I was not only greeted by the hostess but by the owner/cook (I presume...didn't get his name) Not only did he and his staff provide excellent and attentive service but they made me feel welcomed. To start off I had a beef empanada with some guacamole (a bit oily for my like but still good tho) and as my main course I had "Bistec a Caballo" gotta say, it's as if I was eating home made food. I'm not from around this area but I will definitely come back next time I get to come out here. Thanks again! Everything was wonderful. Best Cuban sandwich any of us had had (and we have had a lot of them including in Hialeah). El sancocho was amazing. We got to try it by pure chance and now we can't wait to come again for the sancocho (only on Sunday's.) The passion fruit batido was delicious. Mojito is a pretty tasty little spot over-looking Lake City way. The location is kinda hard to find, but no worries if you miss that bright yellow building you can likely find it on round two. It's small, the owner is incredibly nice, but it's a bit on the dirty side. (I didn't see their city review card...I so dig those) The Drinks: My mojito was good, not great not amazing but good. My husband has a margarita so that was fine too... The Food: I'm a huge plantain fan, and they were good, not great but good. The beans and meat were amazing little party in my mouth cooked and seasoned to perfection. I did LOVE the Cubano sandwich. The big downfall was this weird disc like thing that was more like a cardboard hokey puck than anything else. The Parking: Easy peasy street parking with a few spots out front. Ambiance: It's small, tight quarters with a decent patio if you are looking for that on a sunny day. Overall, it's fine. I could go back but I'm not in a hurry. read more

Went there the other day for the first time, my friend and I were trying to decide where to eat so I checked the Yelp and noticed Mojito have many great reviews. So figures, we decided to stop there and as soon as we walked in, the waiter immediately seat us with a great attitude, got us drinks so fast than we'd blink. The food was awesome, ordered a chicken sandwich, so tasty, so juicy and the bread was very soft, very easy to eat. I noticed different food on other tables, they look good, too! The food is fine, but the service is what makes me give this place 2 stars. There have been multiple instances where food has taken more than an hour to come out. Even when I try to waive the servers down, they either avoid me or say that the kitchen is working on it. Not sure why this place has gone downhill so much, but don't come hungry cause you'll be waiting a long time. In terms of food - The vaca frita is good and has a lot of flavor. - Don't waste your time with the ham and cheese arepa (all they give you a measly piece of ham and melted cheese on bread). - Lechon Asado - not as good as vaca frita (had a lot of fatty pieces in it) Word of advice, don't postmates from here-they've forgotten parts of my order every time. read more

So delicious! We live pretty far away from Mojito so we rarely get to go, but I knew I'd be driving by tonight so we ordered takeout and I am so glad we did! It was so so good. Simply delicious. We had the parrilla mojito, vaca frita, shredded pork arepa as well as a tucan (passion fruit alcoholic drink). It's a humble place with a lot of character. Nestled in an awkward triangle lot, you feel the homey-ness and community style that I've grown to admire from Latin American restaurants. Vibrant walls and concrete tables with coins stuck in them; not the typical "classy" American style place but we love it! The arepa was pure comfort and deliciousness. Succulent shredded pork in an arepa that was soft on the inside and perfectly cripsy on the outside. Best arepa I've had. A complete mess to eat, but so worth it. It came on a bed of greens and with a vinegar based avocado dip that was out of this world. We will likely be experimenting with vinegar and avocados now to mimic that incredible balance of flavor! At only $4, its probably the best deal for a quick snack! With the greens and dip it was like a mini-meal. The plates were absolutely amazing. Characterized by flavorful marinated meat and well balanced sides. The vaca frita came with some delicious maduros and fresca (something that's missing from our maduros at the beloved Bongo's). I had more of the amazing avocado-vinegar on my parrilla mojito; splendid. We could have taken more home for a second meal, but instead devoured it on the spot. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, so if there was a weakness, it was the smashed plaintain, yet even there the spicy sauce on that brightened it up for me. Oh, and before I forget, if you like spice, ask for their homemade spicy sauce. I think it's habenero based and it's superb with everything. Lastly, the drink was great as well! I think the rest of the meal blew us away and the nuanced drink was slightly overshadowed. It was strong but not knock-you-out strong; so order away and drink sporadically. We were pretty nervous going here with the wide variety of reviews and a (supposedly) authentic Cuban claiming this place was trash. Well, either they should share where they get their superior Latin American food or publish their recipes because this place was fantastic in our minds! read more
