First time trying this place, but saw that it offered take out / pickup, to accommodate the Covid shutdown and we wanted to support local business. Ordered the Parrila Mojito, Lechon Asado, and maduros. Picked up the food a little early, to avoid it being cold. The lechon had cooled slightly by the time we got home, which was to be expected. The Parrila Mojito was cold, like it has been sitting out for quite a while. The beans temp was as if they had just come out of a can. The Maduros were hot. This all just tells me that they made the meal way too early, and that they came out of the kitchen at different times. The only positive is that the lechon still had good flavor. Won't be going back. read more

We had dinner from Mojito: two orders of Pabellon. one each of Vaca Frita, Lochon Asado and Parrilla Mojito. The Pabellon, a Venezuelan beef stew with tomato base was terrific; the Lochon, a pork dish. was moist and flavorful; and the Parrilla, a steak dish. was cooked perfectly. The orders came with plenty of Mojito's fabulous hot sauce (don't try it if you don't like it hot!). read more

Great food...had the pescado guisado. But very disappointed that none of the employees I could see (3-4) were wearing masks when I showed up for pick up. With a seventy year old mother at home, the no masks is a dealbreaker for me. read more

I've lived in Seattle my whole life. THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN SEATTLE. If what you're looking for is an fancy and elegant dining experience, THIS ISNT THE PLACE TO GO. If what you're looking for is the best, most thoughtfully prepared dishes served to you in the dining room of your best friends house, this IS the place to go. The food is truly incredibly. The staff is attentive and kind. The owner makes you feel as if you're the only customer that matters to him. Just the thought of visiting this place makes me giddy. Mojito, bless you. There is truly no place I look forward to visiting more. read more

I'm obsessed! Counting Uber eats I've been here six times in the last three weeks! The food is amazing! Everything is so bright and fresh! The homemade habanero hot sauce is out of this world. This place was so awesome! Very cute, tiny building with lots of patio space as well as indoor seating, but boy, the size of the kitchen didn't slow them down at all or make our experience rushed at. It was a packed house and both our meals were still out under 15 minutes. Staff was super friendly and provided really great service and joked with us, and the food was incredible. We had the vaca frita and the pabellón and both were really great. Watch the hot sauce, our server warned us it was hot but I was overambitious and paid the price haha. We also had the Pisco Sour and the Tucan and both drinks were really good! We'll definitely come here again, and if you haven't been here, come try it! read more

Soo good!!! Family friendly and food was delicious highly recommend! Staff is so nice as well!

Mojito is a favorite go-to restaurant for my wife and I. In fact, we often choose to go here for our anniversaries and other special occasions because of the amazing, flavorful food, the refreshing drinks, and the welcoming atmosphere every time we are there. Last night, we brought some family members in to share our favorite spot with them and, even though the place was hopping with hungry customers, we were all greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Luam (owner) and our waiter. The drinks were refreshing and relaxing, and the food -- as always -- was delicious and authentic. There's a reason this place is so popular -- I just can't decide whether it's Luam or the incredible food ... I'm gonna go with both! :) read more

Mojito is the best! The food is fantastic, and the service is top notch. The wait staff, as well as the owner, are personable and attentive. I had the lechon asado, marinated pork, and it was incredible. The mojitos are definitely a big draw, best in the city. I went with a group of teachers from OV Elementary, a much needed break at the end of the school year. Thank you, Mojito staff, for a wonderful evening! We will be back soon! read more

Came here today on an incredibly rainy day. So starved for social contact, when my friend from Florida said let's go get lunch, I was in. The reason I mention this, is how accommodating this restaurant staff is. They looked genuinely happy to see us. They greeted us like friends. There was a table of people eating outside and the staff treated them well while we waited for our order. One manager was bringing food and wine to a catering event. He joked with the table, me and his staff. Commenting on this, for all the unhappy and reluctant staff at other places I have been to. They love you here, I could just show up here and feel the love and be happy. But their delicious food! Got Pecado en Guiso. Great fish dish with a delicious sauce. Came with one of the best salads ever, fresh tomatoes and avocado. All of this for 15.00. Food came out hot off the grill. Really soft and succinct fish and us Seattlities are picky about our fish. Want to try more items from their menu in the future. Food is delicious, inexpensive and the staff is great. My idea of a great place to eat. read more

The congri was not good nor was it congri. It was unflavored rice with black beans and it had excessive water. I took my parents which are Cuban and we come from Miami which have a lot of Cuban food options. Firstly, my mom ordered a cafe con leche and she said it tasted like instant coffee. My dad and mom ordered the vaca frita plate which comes with "congri" I ordered lechon asado which came with "congri" and tostones and yuca frita, which it only came with one piece of yuca . The pork was flavorless as well. The manager was nice and gave us a free drink. If you are Cuban (or want some good Cuban food) don't go there! Look for a better one because this one is not it. read more

Wow! I used to love this place and they had such good food!!! Did they change owners? I recently ordered take out and ordered pescado en guiso and pabellon. The pabellon was sooooooo dry. My hubby couldn't finish it. Then the pescado looked like it was devoured by spaghetti sauce. Wayyyy too much sauce. It was not good at all. The white rice was drowning in the sauce. AND there were no olives in the sauce. It was not good at all. I'm so sad because I used to love this place. Oh.....we ordered dessert but they didn't include it in our order. So sad....I will not come here again. read more

I had heard amazing things about La Casa del Mojito for years. The food, the Mojitos... the food. Yesterday's adventures brought us to the Roosevelt location of La Casa. I was thrilled when I saw that there were a few tables available since the space is small and I had heard that it gets very busy during the weekend evenings. We were greeted and seated immediately and brought water and menus. I ordered a Caipirinha, which was very tasty and boozy and was made fresh with real limes- a novel concept, I know. Before heading over here, I had checked Yelp about what to order. The Parilla de Luigi was what kept jumping out at me, so I went with it. About 15 minutes later, our food arrives. Two orders of Parilla de Luigi and a Bistec A Caballo. The presentation is lovely and the food looks and smells amazing, We dig in. My first bite of steak... a little chewy. Pretty fatty actually. No matter. I carve off another bite. Again, it's chewy. I scan the rest of the large hunks of perfectly seared steak and realize that they're all fatty cuts which really made me sad. The good: The tostones: delicious. Much, much better than La Isla's. The beans and rice were also very tasty; the black beans were some of the best I've had in recent memory. I really wish the steak would have been better. While the menu claims it's marinated, it just didn't taste like it had been. The service here was fine and I really wanted to love everything here at La Casa. I just didn't. My suggestion: Try it for yourself and if nothing else, get the tostones & a Mojito or a Caipirinha. They're delicious. read more

What an amazing little gem off of Lake City Way! After several people mentioned Mojito to me as being the spot to check out I knew I had to go. When walking up to the restaurant and going inside you instantly feel like you're on vacation. I definitely did not feel like I was in Seattle, just a stone's throw away from 1-5. The food was excellent and the service was great. The guys helping us were very nice and did a great job. Our server was also not too hard on the eyes! :) I had the Parilla Mojito dish which was steak served with white rice, black beans, yuca frita, tostones and guasacaca. The flavors were excellent. I really enjoyed the whole dish including the garlic sauce ($17.25). My friend had the Pescado Frito which was a breaded, fried white fish platter. The fish itself was good but was just a little under-seasoned. She requested some hot sauce and that took the fish to an entirely different level! Our server said it was an habanero sauce and it was HOT. That livened the fish right up! I put just a little on the fish and my mouth was on fire. I loved my experience here and can't wait to go back! Also, their mojito is delicious! read more

Honesty time. The only thing I have ever ordered for myself has been the Pescado En Guiso. That is because it is the most delicious perfectly cooked piece of fish I have ever had. It is a white fish fillet simmered in a sauce of tomatoes, onions, garlic, diced potatoes, capers, olives and white wine. Served with rice, Maduros and ensalada de la casa. It is such a good dish. With that being said, I have taken bites off of other people's plates. Everything is always very good and perfectly cooked. I even took my unadventurous mother and step dad here and they were blown away! Besides the food, they have great drinks (Yes, you must get a mojito, you won't be sorry) and the service is always top notch. Mojito is in a cute yellow building with red and green trim. The place is not extravigant by any means. It's just very nice and homey feeling. read more

Great drinks and food, cool staff, horrible location. Grab a table inside and you'll see how small and funky this place is. Grab one outside and you'll enjoy the fresh air and the roar of the freeway and on-ramp. Decisions, decisions. Had the mojito (how can you not?), the Sunblaster (recommend by waitress) and the Carribbean Salad (fresh fruit with dressing on spinach). As much as I like this place, I'm going to recommend La Isla for the mojito - better tasting and $1.50 cheaper! Viva la mojito! read more

Went there last Saturday after reading some reviews yelp and this place did not disappoint! The restaurant is rather small and a full night, seating was quite tight but I guess it adds a bit to the quaint feel of this place. My husband and I started with tostones as and appetizer and chose mojitos! And omg, I had been craving flavorful Caribbean/Latin for a while and this definitely hit the spot! Haha my husband had the vaca frita and I opted for the pescado en guiso and everything was just so well seasoned and cooked! Delicious! We will definitely go back :) Oh, and the owner (I believe) was super nice and welcoming! read more

Mojito - Pescado En Guiso! So delicious! - Cuban Near Me - Seattle, Washington

A Caribbean oasis that's only a few feet from I-5! It looks kinda slummy from the outside looking in because it's painted bright yellow and isn't quite as nice as the bourgeois surroundings of Mapleleaf, but don't be fooled by the less-than-impressive exterior, Mojito is an excellent spot to get some Cuban eats and a a great mojito (obvi...). I lived in the Mapleleaf neighborhood when I was going to UW a few years ago and I never realized it was there. What a waste! Now I have to drive a little while to get there, but it's worth it. It's a fantastic little neighborhood cantina and I highly recommend you check it out, especially if you live in the North end of Seattle. I ordered the Bistec a Caballo which has marinated and grilled thin-cut steak served with congri, tostones, and topped with a fried egg. I really enjoyed it. It's essentially Cuban carne asada. The congri (cuban rice and beans) was really good and I enjoyed the tostones (crushed, fried plantains) as well. It's the quintessential Cuban dish, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my favorite components of Cuban cuisine in general is how they incorporate bananas into several of their dishes and Mojito definitely stays true to that aspect. The mojito I had was pretty good too. I recall it being fairly limey and not as minty, but I still enjoyed it. I only had one $8 mojito and I was buzzin'. You can get sneaky drunk pretty quickly on mojitos here because it really didn't taste boozy at all. Refreshing is probably the single best word to describe it. They have indoor and outdoor seating and if you come during the summer, you absolutely have to sit outside if you can. It's perfect in just about every way. It feels like you're on vacation. They were understaffed on a busy night, so the service suffered a little bit and it did take longer to get the food, but the waiter was apologetic and was able to give updates on when food would be coming out. I will definitely be back to try more of that menu! read more

My first meal back in Seattle. My sister had been wanting to try this place and since it's only a few blocks from our house we decided to check it out. Parking can be a bitch during dinner hours, but we manage to get a spot across the street. This small place has big character. The inside has a colorful and folkloric look that seems to have evolved as the place grew. A lot of misplaced decor and art that seems to have just been thrown up on the wall, but that's the charm of this cozy 10 table place. The menu is small, but it's perfect, because everything else is. They have two vegetarian plates, seafood, beef and chicken dishes. My sis had Pescado Tito, and I had the eggplant and zucchini in coconut milk. Both dishes were excellent. The portions are perfect. The Mojito was good, maybe too much sugar, but it was tasty. I had a capirinha, and it was really good. No complains. The prices are a bit on the high end, but I think I'll be back. read more

I got a yelp account just so I could write this review. To be blunt, this restaurant is a glorified taco stand charging outrageous prices. The building is a small, oddly shaped shack that sits between two converging roads; there are about 8 tables in the restaurant, and the aesthetic is more diner than fine dining. We came on a 40s rainy day, and the one, large heater didn't keep us warm, so we had to wear our coats. All of this is fine with me if the food is good and the price is cheap. I love cheap Chinese restaurants, taco trucks, pho, whatever. I scan the menu and there is no entree under $15 and appetizers range from $8-10. (If you check online as of 12/14/09 the prices are lower than at the restaurant) I look at the items, okay everything has some beef or pork or chicken, so that's kind of expensive, right? There are two vegetarian options, $14.50 if I remember correctly. $15 for vegetables? I had the Lechon Asado and my girlfriend had the Vaca Frita, both were $15 or $16. My Lechon Asado was a heaping pile of pork meat, boiled in water with maybe some tomatoes and spices, it lacked flavor, needed salt, and was basically taco meat but without sauce. The vaca frita was much the same, except the meat was deep fried and had a bland lime taste. Mine came with beans and rice, 2 slices of plantain and a miserly portion of yuca. The vaca with beans and rice and 2 fried plantain slivers Carbs, grains and beans are basically the cheapest thing you can produce. they're rehydrated and make a LOT of food for pennies. How can you get away with charging $15 for carbs and low-end meat? As for the meat, shredded pork is reserved for lesser cuts, these aren't pork chops or loin, it's the shoulder, which is tough and fatty and is boiled to be used. Did I mention there were no vegetables? Just carbs and meat. Many other restaurants at this price range are able to use organic, local, or heirloom products. These meats, unless they failed to tell me were probably mass produced factory pigs you buy for $4 a pound at wal-mart, who knows what they charge for wholesale? $2 a pound? So for $2 for meat, 50c for beans and rice, 30c for 2 slices of plantains, pennies for oil, I ask you where'd the money go? Why is it so expensive? Because there's no one around doing "South American food" and people are dumb enough to go and pay the price. For $15 I expect: A) Not to be cold B) A hosptiable dining space, where there's any decor or comfort, a padded chair, a flower, something. C) A cut of meat something above rump or wings. A flank steak, a pork chop or loin, something, maybe even local, fresh, organic - surprise me. This is why I gave this place 1 star. The waiter was friendly and the cooks look like "cool bros" , but this restaurant should decrease their portion size, raise the flavor, and drop the price down to $8-10. Next time I'll go to a taco stand, cafe presse, musashis anywhere, this is the worst rip off I've had in a long time. read more

I don't want to take the wind out of anyone's sails here, so if you REALLY like this place, stop reading now. The first few times I was here, I thought I'd finally hit it. Best restaurant ever. I told all my friends. It's so awesome, you HAVE to eat there, I said. Then I went to Miami for a week. Everything changed. If you've never had cuban food before, this place will impress you. Guaranteed. However, most of their plates are $15ish, and you should probably get a mojito ($8ish?). I suppose that's ok, all things considered. After having been to Miami (twice now), I came here once and realized everything tastes like dirt compared to a real cuban restaurant. And this is what ruins a restaurant experience for someone like me. I go to the place where you get good food of this origin, and I can't ever go back to the way things were. Cuban dishes are so much more than what's served here- so much more flavor, and even more value (i.e. way cheaper). If you enjoy eating here, that's cool; I'll just have to wait until the owners spend a week or three in Miami, then maybe I'll come back too. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE, did I mention I love this restaurant!? So My best friend and his lovely wife and I were long overdue for a meet and greet since their wedding..eeeekkkk.. well anyways it was a dinner worth raving and bookmarking about! Seriously, A M A Z I N G!!!!! So we shared the sampler platter that was DIVINE! They had three different kinds of fried foods; one sweet, and two savories :) hell yes, and they also had this homemade guacamole that was so different from any other guacamole that I have ever had. citrusy and it was so good I wished I had a side of it to go :) Going on to our dinner they had the steak that looked amazing, but I didn't care to try it, and I had their fish dish that was accompanied by sauteed tomatoes in a white wine sauce and rice. :) The way they prepared the fish was so perfect that if you never had fish before and this was your first time, you'd be ruined for life!!!!! as for dessert, our waiter gave us free leche's and it reminded me of a dense flan. I don't really care for sweets, but my best friend ate his, his wife's and mine hahaha... Let's just say that if you are in seattle, and want a good clean fresh, and authentic dinner or just a local wanting a good dinner, go to la casa del mojito. The friendly service and great food will make you think twice on spending over a hundred dollars on fine dining when a local restaurant offers better fresher food. read more

DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my first visit to Mojito and considering only the Venezuelan dishes I tried. I may be biased since I grew up in Venezuela and have a mother that is a wonderful chef, but from a Venezuelan food point-of-view this place was awful. I had major hopes up for this place since I am new to the Seattle area and everyone on Yelp freaking loves the restaurant but I felt more homesick and sad than I did satisfied. My fiance and I had the Pabellon (for any hard core Vzla food fans: Pabellon Criollo) and it was such a let down. The meat tasted like a cooked and ready to go shredded beef tub that can be purchased at a grocery store. The black beans were under cooked and crunchy (Come on! You can't get beans right?!). The rice was overcooked and sticky (another DUH moment). The only good thing about the platter was the ripened plantains but they only gave us two tiny slices (no bigger than my thumb!). For appetizers we ordered the pastelitos (non-dessert ones) but for some reason the cooks could not remove the ham from them (ham and cheese is normal, but I prefer cheese only). They also contained a sweet BBQ sauce that I can never remember being included in all my years of eating Venezuelan food. The guasacaca was basically glorified guacamole. Traditional guasacaca is a liquid avocado sauce (among other spices), but Mojito serves what is essentially mashed avocado with onions, tomatoes and vinegar. Completely opposite of what guasacaca should be. The service was somewhat slow, but the teenage waiter seemed like a nice guy. My fiance, on the other hand, thought everything tasted fine, but he agreed that the dishes did not match up to the traditional standards. read more

First off, the ambience here is exactly what I'd expect of a Cuban cafe. There was even a guy working on his car across the street whom we watched while we sat on the patio (just seemed very "Havana" to me). The tables weren't wiped down but we sat at one anyway, the menus were old and needed updating, and our server was very kind but very unskilled (I'm assuming a daughter of the owner). I asked for an iced tea before we opened our menus, she kind of laughed and said I don't think we have iced tea. I ordered water instead (we had stopped there on a lunch break and I didn't want to drink though I desperately wanted to try a mojito). I looked at the menu and saw iced tea plainly written under the drinks section. The food prices seemed a little spendy for a place of this size, location and decor but we were starved and had already come this far. She came back with water and then I asked for a cubanito. She said the coffee machine was broken (what?!? Now it's just getting sad). We placed our orders (I ordered the pollo de parilla) and then we waited. And waited. About 30 mins after waiting for our food (and our lunch break almost over), the server comes out and asks if we would like anything else. "Our food?" My partner suggests. Apparently she had completely forgotten about us. My friend went inside and told the owner that we needed to leave because it was taking too long and we were on a lunch break. Miraculously our food came out to us within two minutes. The rice and black beans were great, the frita yuca chips were a bit too crispy but tasted amazing with the garlic sauce. The chicken was also great and the habanero sauce was a delight. But after all this I felt a little out of place and uncomfortable like we had put them out, all because our server forgot about us and we weren't taken care of. For the lack of proper service for higher prices, not the food, I'm giving it two stars. I believe in giving your children a chance to work at your successful restaurant but they've got to be properly trained just like any other server. Teach them the menu, how to treat guests, what to suggest to people inexperienced with the menu, know the ingredients by heart, and put all your heart into it! That's a must! read more

La Casa del Mojito brings the party to your mouth! I should have known their signature drink was going to be good when I walked in to this place for the first time and saw stacks of ice & muddled mint-filled glasses lining the bar. After two of those bad boys, I was tempted to sing in the streets. I controlled myself (hard to do when the flavor is spot on and you feel so bueno!), but passed on the third for fear of not being able to drive home. The time we had to savor our buzz was complimented by delicious food and a friendly waitstaff. My dining companion and I sat outside and enjoyed every bite of our meals (perfectly cooked fish and citrus steak, with fried plantains and sweet coffee to finish). Side note: if you like spicy, be sure to ask for their hot sauce. It will blow your mind.. and insides. read more

When you're in this part of town, do you want Subway or some of the best Cuban food? We had the vaca frita (well, she ordered it, I proceeded to eat half, it was that good). And I had Pabellon - very legit. I also ordered the Pisco Sour - like a made from scratch whiskey Sour with egg white. Soooo good. I love Cuban food and I have eaten it in Puerto Rico and Florida. I am from Puerto Rico so the dishes are similar. So after reading all these reviews we decided to give it a try. I was not able to sleep due to indigestion Friday night. We ordered the side of tostones were crunchy and nice. The second order came soft and some parts cold and hot. This means it was in the microwave. I wanted to cry I could not believe it. Who warms tostones? You fry them twice and that is what makes it toasty and nice. Then I ordered guiso de pollo. This plate is about 16 dollars. El guiso means that you put raw chicken from the beginning to cook in the same pot with all the ingredients and let them simmer. You know what I got a roasted 1/4 chicken and then they put on top some wanna be sauce. It was pathetic. My husband's dish was breaded chicken, French fries and tostones. It was dry and tasteless. This place is as bad as the Puertorican restaurant in Ballard. The stand that is in Freemont and Seaview Drive sell the Dinner Plate cheaper and tastier. We will not be coming here again. We will continue going to the place that we already know. This place is not worth it because of the taste and the prices. Also is so dark you can't see anything. Also I noticed that the waiters were talking to the other non-Hispanic customers. This happened several times. They never came to us to ask if it was the first time we visited the restaurant. read more
