First time trying this place, but saw that it offered take out / pickup, to accommodate the Covid shutdown and we wanted to support local business. Ordered the Parrila Mojito, Lechon Asado, and maduros. Picked up the food a little early, to avoid it being cold. The lechon had cooled slightly by the time we got home, which was to be expected. The Parrila Mojito was cold, like it has been sitting out for quite a while. The beans temp was as if they had just come out of a can. The Maduros were hot. This all just tells me that they made the meal way too early, and that they came out of the kitchen at different times. The only positive is that the lechon still had good flavor. We had dinner from Mojito: two orders of Pabellon. one each of Vaca Frita, Lochon Asado and Parrilla Mojito. The Pabellon, a Venezuelan beef stew with tomato base was terrific; the Lochon, a pork dish. was moist and flavorful; and the Parrilla, a steak dish. was cooked perfectly. This place was so awesome! Very cute, tiny building with lots of patio space as well as indoor seating, but boy, the size of the kitchen didn't slow them down at all or make our experience rushed at. It was a packed house and both our meals were still out under 15 minutes. Staff was super friendly and provided really great service and joked with us, and the food was incredible. We had the vaca frita and the pabellón and both were really great. Watch the hot sauce, our server warned us it was hot but I was overambitious and paid the price haha. We also had the Pisco Sour and the Tucan and both drinks were really good! We'll definitely come here again, and if you haven't been here, come try it! read more

Mojito is a favorite go-to restaurant for my wife and I. In fact, we often choose to go here for our anniversaries and other special occasions because of the amazing, flavorful food, the refreshing drinks, and the welcoming atmosphere every time we are there. Last night, we brought some family members in to share our favorite spot with them and, even though the place was hopping with hungry customers, we were all greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Luam (owner) and our waiter. The drinks were refreshing and relaxing, and the food -- as always -- was delicious and authentic. I had the lechon asado, marinated pork, and it was incredible. The mojitos are definitely a big draw, best in the city. Came here today on an incredibly rainy day. So starved for social contact, when my friend from Florida said let's go get lunch, I was in. The reason I mention this, is how accommodating this restaurant staff is. They looked genuinely happy to see us. They greeted us like friends. There was a table of people eating outside and the staff treated them well while we waited for our order. One manager was bringing food and wine to a catering event. He joked with the table, me and his staff. Commenting on this, for all the unhappy and reluctant staff at other places I have been to. They love you here, I could just show up here and feel the love and be happy. But their delicious food! Got Pecado en Guiso. Great fish dish with a delicious sauce. Came with one of the best salads ever, fresh tomatoes and avocado. All of this for 15.00. Food came out hot off the grill. Really soft and succinct fish and us Seattlities are picky about our fish. Want to try more items from their menu in the future. Food is delicious, inexpensive and the staff is great. My idea of a great place to eat. read more

The congri was not good nor was it congri. It was unflavored rice with black beans and it had excessive water. I took my parents which are Cuban and we come from Miami which have a lot of Cuban food options. Firstly, my mom ordered a cafe con leche and she said it tasted like instant coffee. My dad and mom ordered the vaca frita plate which comes with "congri" I ordered lechon asado which came with "congri" and tostones and yuca frita, which it only came with one piece of yuca . The pork was flavorless as well. The manager was nice and gave us a free drink. If you are Cuban (or want some good Cuban food) don't go there! Wow! I used to love this place and they had such good food!!! Did they change owners? I recently ordered take out and ordered pescado en guiso and pabellon. The pabellon was sooooooo dry. My hubby couldn't finish it. Then the pescado looked like it was devoured by spaghetti sauce. Wayyyy too much sauce. It was not good at all. The white rice was drowning in the sauce. AND there were no olives in the sauce. It was not good at all. I'm so sad because I used to love this place. Oh.....we ordered dessert but they didn't include it in our order. Went there last Saturday after reading some reviews yelp and this place did not disappoint! The restaurant is rather small and a full night, seating was quite tight but I guess it adds a bit to the quaint feel of this place. My husband and I started with tostones as and appetizer and chose mojitos! And omg, I had been craving flavorful Caribbean/Latin for a while and this definitely hit the spot! I went to Mojito around a year ago and am just remembering to write a review. Whoops. So things may have changed but this is from my experience here last May. The space is very small so there may be a wait for seating. To go you can just take out, in case the wait is too long. The staff were very friendly and the small space in the restaurant made it cozy, but could stand to be a little bigger honestly. The food was very good, but nothing extremely memorable. I am very very picky with my Cuban food and this place did a good job for the Seattle area. There are a few rivals for being the best ACTUAL Cuban food in the area and unfortunately I personally don't feel Mojito beats the other ones. Overall, this restaurant was nice and the staff was friendly. They could benefit from a bigger space and faster service. I would probably come back and it wasn't bad for just happening upon it! read more

I had heard amazing things about La Casa del Mojito for years. The food, the Mojitos... the food. Yesterday's adventures brought us to the Roosevelt location of La Casa. I was thrilled when I saw that there were a few tables available since the space is small and I had heard that it gets very busy during the weekend evenings. We were greeted and seated immediately and brought water and menus. I ordered a Caipirinha, which was very tasty and boozy and was made fresh with real limes- a novel concept, I know. Before heading over here, I had checked Yelp about what to order. The Parilla de Luigi was what kept jumping out at me, so I went with it. About 15 minutes later, our food arrives. Two orders of Parilla de Luigi and a Bistec A Caballo. The presentation is lovely and the food looks and smells amazing, We dig in. My first bite of steak... a little chewy. Pretty fatty actually. No matter. I carve off another bite. Again, it's chewy. I scan the rest of the large hunks of perfectly seared steak and realize that they're all fatty cuts which really made me sad. The good: The tostones: delicious. Much, much better than La Isla's. The beans and rice were also very tasty; the black beans were some of the best I've had in recent memory. I really wish the steak would have been better. While the menu claims it's marinated, it just didn't taste like it had been. The service here was fine and I really wanted to love everything here at La Casa. I just didn't. My suggestion: Try it for yourself and if nothing else, get the tostones & a Mojito or a Caipirinha. There is something to be said for an owner ( Luam ) being on both sides of the kitchen. The way he makes you feel apart of the "mojito family" is an understatement. What an amazing little gem off of Lake City Way! After several people mentioned Mojito to me as being the spot to check out I knew I had to go. When walking up to the restaurant and going inside you instantly feel like you're on vacation. I definitely did not feel like I was in Seattle, just a stone's throw away from 1-5. The food was excellent and the service was great. The guys helping us were very nice and did a great job. Our server was also not too hard on the eyes! :) I had the Parilla Mojito dish which was steak served with white rice, black beans, yuca frita, tostones and guasacaca. The flavors were excellent. I really enjoyed the whole dish including the garlic sauce ($17.25). My friend had the Pescado Frito which was a breaded, fried white fish platter. The fish itself was good but was just a little under-seasoned. She requested some hot sauce and that took the fish to an entirely different level! Our server said it was an habanero sauce and it was HOT. That livened the fish right up! I put just a little on the fish and my mouth was on fire. Honesty time. The only thing I have ever ordered for myself has been the Pescado En Guiso. That is because it is the most delicious perfectly cooked piece of fish I have ever had. It is a white fish fillet simmered in a sauce of tomatoes, onions, garlic, diced potatoes, capers, olives and white wine. Served with rice, Maduros and ensalada de la casa. It is such a good dish. With that being said, I have taken bites off of other people's plates. Everything is always very good and perfectly cooked. I even took my unadventurous mother and step dad here and they were blown away! Besides the food, they have great drinks (Yes, you must get a mojito, you won't be sorry) and the service is always top notch. Mojito is in a cute yellow building with red and green trim. A Caribbean oasis that's only a few feet from I-5! It looks kinda slummy from the outside looking in because it's painted bright yellow and isn't quite as nice as the bourgeois surroundings of Mapleleaf, but don't be fooled by the less-than-impressive exterior, Mojito is an excellent spot to get some Cuban eats and a a great mojito (obvi...). I lived in the Mapleleaf neighborhood when I was going to UW a few years ago and I never realized it was there. What a waste! Now I have to drive a little while to get there, but it's worth it. It's a fantastic little neighborhood cantina and I highly recommend you check it out, especially if you live in the North end of Seattle. I ordered the Bistec a Caballo which has marinated and grilled thin-cut steak served with congri, tostones, and topped with a fried egg. I really enjoyed it. It's essentially Cuban carne asada. The congri (cuban rice and beans) was really good and I enjoyed the tostones (crushed, fried plantains) as well. It's the quintessential Cuban dish, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my favorite components of Cuban cuisine in general is how they incorporate bananas into several of their dishes and Mojito definitely stays true to that aspect. The mojito I had was pretty good too. I recall it being fairly limey and not as minty, but I still enjoyed it. I only had one $8 mojito and I was buzzin'. You can get sneaky drunk pretty quickly on mojitos here because it really didn't taste boozy at all. Refreshing is probably the single best word to describe it. They have indoor and outdoor seating and if you come during the summer, you absolutely have to sit outside if you can. It's perfect in just about every way. It feels like you're on vacation. They were understaffed on a busy night, so the service suffered a little bit and it did take longer to get the food, but the waiter was apologetic and was able to give updates on when food would be coming out. I will definitely be back to try more of that menu! read more
