Parrilla Mojito Lunch + Vaca Frita Lunch (top)

**Highly recommend !! Came right as they opened Sunday morning and it started to get busy within the hour. Wanted to try to Sunday special Oxtail soup but they didn't have it unfortunately :(( Both dishes were wonderfully flavorful and each comment had its own contribution to the overall dish. The tostones were a great "chip-like" piece to layer the beans and meat on top of and was not something I enjoyed by itself. The maduros were my FAVORITE ! Mostly because they remind me of my childhood AND because they were soft and sweet. I find that, sometimes, with those types of bananas they can be dry and flavorless. Very airy space with both indoor and outdoor seating. Best for groups of 4 or less. Street parking is available right out front or in the nearby neighborhoods of Maple Leaf.

The hub and I were in the area nearby and had to quickly decide what to eat for dinner. He has this place bookmarked since who knows when. But we trusted our fellow Yelpers and reviews that lead us here. Upon arrival, we ordered two dish that seems pretty popular among the reviews. It did not disappoint! The steak has a citrus taste to it that ties everything together. There's these two sauce that adds a nice kick to it, once has habanero on it so you kinda have to not overdo it. The service was quick, nice and friendly. I was surprised to how fast the food came out and how delicious it was. It was beyond my expectations. We did not try the mojito but it seems like every table has an order, so I'm pretty sure that's also their specialty. It was a casual environment with a lot of plaques of little leagues with kind words expressing gratitude on the wall. Definitely don't skip this place, cute place for a date, quick bites, drinks and desserts. Glad we were able to try it. It did not disappoint.

    Milanesa de Carne

Came during seattle restaurant week and they have a good deal if you drink alcohol, but I opted for the normal menu and got a beef milanesa. Huge portions and great flavor! I haven't found many places in Seattle that serve milanesa so I was super excited to finally find a place that does. The staff is super friendly and personable. Not a very large indoor seating but lots of outdoor options

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Luam, the owner. We chose to sit inside and immediately he brought us water and complimentary sancocho! We ordered the vaca frita dish, the lechon asado dish, extra plátanos maduros, extra fried yuca, and lemonade. Luam sat to talk with us for a bit and play drums with our kids! We ate dessert and had coffee to finish our meal. Everything was PERFECT! From the seasoning of the food to the friendliness, attentiveness and integrity of the owner. This is the BEST Latin fusion food we have tried since we moved to WA from Miami. We are definitely making this trip more often! Thank you, Luam!

SRW dishes. A very chill vibe and very nice meal. My favorite is the empanadas. The cheese flavor is the must try!

Parrilla Mojito with rice, black beans, fried yucca, and sweet maduros (plantains) that we swapped for the tostones (the non-sweet style).

This amazing restaurant is, without question, our favorite restaurant in Seattle. The Parrila Mojito (steak served with rice and black beans) is divine!! We also like the vaca frita, the signature or house mojito cocktail, and the "batido" fruit shakes (mango/strawberry!). They also make a wonderful Tres Leches cake that you will almost fight over. The indoor seating is bright and inviting. The outdoor patio is our favorite, especially on a warm summer evening. The staff are kind and check on you regularly. We were very grateful to Ana, who made our child light up and treated us like good friends, and Victor the co-owner, who came over to say hi, talk about their upcoming move/remodel, and added a strawberry flourish to my kid's cake. If you're in Seattle, you simply just visit this place.

    Piña Colada
    Tara O.

I came to try the flavors of the most basic items to see what they were made of: Mojito - balanced and refreshing! Piña Colada - have I been drinking these wrong my whole life? This is such a balanced cocktail and unbelievably delicious and refreshing in 80 degrees! TOSTONES (FRIED GREEN PLANTAINS) - so delicious, not greasy, something missing in the food scene in Seattle and I'm glad to eat it here! Side of shredded pork and it was juicy with braised sliced onions pairing well with my plain tostones. Wanted to check the flavor, texture and preparation of the meat. Succulent and well done! Will be back for more!

Have had Mojito bookmarked to try for awhile. They specialize in Latin American food (Colombian, Cuban and Venezuelan dishes). We dropped in on a Monday for lunch (right at noon). Half a dozen tables inside along with a couple more outside. We saw the owner going up to chat with several regulars. Their lunch menu is slightly cheaper than dinner, but not by much. Lunch entrees are $18.00-$19.00 USD, sandwiches $15.00 USD. Beware, the minimum tip option starts at 18%. We were given two hot sauces. One had a slight kick, the other one was much more potent. Both were good. They sell their own hot sauce bottles ($6.00 USD). - Empanada ($4.00 USD) - went with the shredded beef. Small but excellently deep fried. Nice touch with the dollop of guacamole. - Arepa ($7.00 USD) - opted for the pork. Liked that the arepa wasn't too greasy or heavy. Pork was a touch salty. - Pescado en guiso ($19.00 USD) - came with rice and ensalada de mojito. Mango dressing was very summery. We were disappointed that we weren't given any maduros. The fish itself was incredibly tender. The capers and olives added a nice contrasting element. Potatoes were a nice addition. Food was good but pricey. 3.5 stars.

    Lechon Asado

Tasty takeout but probably better in person. I've had better sandwiches elsewhere, but the core entrees are hearty, flavorful, and comforting. Lechon Asado - this is the go-to entree, tender roast pork and onions with flavorful rice and beans (congri). Rice, beans, and meat is a pretty standard and safe staple but this entree is basically a step above that. All three core ingredients are upgraded, more flavorful, and even juicier. Cuban Sandwich - I'm not a big mustard guy so that detracts from my experience a bit. I think it's worse because they use a hefty amount of mustard to the point where the mustard flavor is overwhelming and everywhere. Regardless, the sandwich is pretty simple, two types of pork in ham and roast with cheese, pickles, and sauce. The bread was a bit soggy, but I believe that's due to the takeout. Overall, I've had better Cuban sandwiches, but these aren't bad.

New York was crawling in delicious Southern American food. So we decided to go on an adventure to Tacoma and visit this establishment, and I'm so glad we did. Upon walking in, the space is decorated in Colombian flags, license plates, banners, and other miscellaneous decor. The tropicana radio station playing in the back made us feel like we were back in Manizales for a brief moment. We were greeted with kindness and curiosity as we exchanged cultural backgrounds. Foods that we ate: - Pandebono (Plain, with no guyaba): One of the many famous breads Colombia has to offer, the flavor was spot on. Savory and cheesy with a nice chew. It was more airy than I was anticipating, so a lot of empty pockets while eating it (it's usually denser), but still delicious nonetheless. If you like a sweet surprise, would recommend getting the pandebono with guyaba inside. - Buñuelo: Another great cheese bread in the shape of a sphere and fried. The inside was super soft and airy as well which is more on brand for this! Although not typically crunchy or hard, the shell did lack a bit of toughness that's normally expected. Again, did not take away from the enjoyable experience otherwise. - Bandeja Paísa: Nearly perfect, we were both so stunned. The chorizo and chicharron were AMAZING. The chicharron had the perfect amount of meat, more crunchy than chewy which is what we preferred. I don't know what blend the chorizo is made out of, but it was packed with flavor. The steak was a little tough but still delicious. Avocado, fried egg, the arepa, all complemented the dish well. I personally don't like maduros, but the one in this dish was not too sweet at all, delicious. The frijoles were also packed with flavor, giving the rice a wonderful flavor to soak up. We definitely need to come back and have their churrasco for sure. If you're Colombian in the Seattle area or are looking to try Colombian food for the first time, this is a must visit!!!

They seem to be popular for their empanadas but from my experience they were bland, cooked from frozen, and lacked that the booming flavor I was expecting for an authentic Colombian restaurant. The two folks working were nice and knowledgeable. Sadly they were out of Arepas so my plan to start loudly singing songs from Encanto in my car while eating one was foiled, at least for today. We ordered quite a few menu items but noticed there were not prices listed which was a bit annoying. The cost for what we received was not a great value and only one of the items we ordered was worth the price. Perhaps if we try them again they will be not be out of arepas and we won't be as dissatisfied but chances are we won't as the price point does not match the flavor. The stuffed potatoes were good, but overall it was just under-seasoned and the fries were soggy in a "your fryer should be hotter" kind of way. Which makes sense because they inevitably fried all of it, one dish after the other. Generally, you could try it, and maybe if we had come earlier, it would have been better or if we had eaten there, in the little table area they had set up (which is covered so there is that at least), but I don't think so. I will say that in general, South American food is less spiced and salted than Mexican food, and so it is entirely possible it was supposed to taste the way it came and I am just not enough of a foodie purist to appreciate it. As it stands, I am sure that some of the flavors could be right for some folks and there is a certain homey flavor town that they visit, albeit not exceptionally well.

The food is flavorful, though I can't vouch for the authenticity. They offer two house-made hot sauce, one of which has habanero. The server said, "A little bit goes a long way." It has a kick but maybe 3.5-stars kind of spicy, toned-down spiciness for the American palate. Our server did a great job answering my questions. The Food: Arepa, with shredded beef, $7 - 4.5 Stars Menu: Venezuelan corn cake. Camarones Carmen Miranda (appetizer), $17.50 - 5 Stars Menu: Shrimp sautéed with grilled pineapple, mango, bell peppers and Cachaça, with tostones This appetizer version is my perfect dish - protein and produce. This reduced portion of the entrée size has 8 jumbo prawns! The flavors are savory, but also refreshing from the salad and fruits. The tostones are surprisingly filling. La Jefa, with chicken, $17.50 - 3.5 Stars With a choice of protein, this sandwich went home instead since the two small plates were well-sized. They use a Macrina bakery roll (nearby) to make these well-stuffed sandwiches. Though tasty, this dish didn't stand out as a Latin dish other than the tostones and mild guasacaca. Tierra Y Mar, $37 - 4 Stars This surf and turf dish is from the January specials menu -grilled octopus, NY strip steak, shrimps, with chimichurri sauce. The octopus is phenomenal - perfectly grilled, flavorful, and large. Next best are the two shrimps. The steak is grilled correctly but itself didn't have much flavor. The chimichurri sauce was lacking flavor, too. After dismissing my idea of pouring the light hot sauce on the steak, hubby did it and concluded the steak was much better. Lol.
