Mojito is one of our favorite restaurants. My wife gets the vaca frita everything we go here. The tang of the marinade with some lime cuts through the beef and peppers. It is addicting. Perhaps that is why it was the last place we went before our son was born and then first place we went after he was born too. Best of all, the food is always so consistent. After a friend sent me a link to Black-owned restaurants in Seattle, I wanted to try some new places. Yesterday I got dinner from Mojito and it could not have been a better, sweeter experience! I called them the day before to find out how much time they needed for orders and was told usually around 30 minutes. When I called yesterday to make the order there was no answer. I knew they were open and decided to pop over and do my order in person and wait. When I arrived, the very kind owner told me that they were not taking orders for an hour due to an order of 500 sandwiches they were making for the SPD. He told me that other restaurants would not do food for the police and they had just received the large order. He then asked me what I wanted, told me they could fit my order in and in 20 minutes I had a very special, wonderful dinner with empanadas, cinnamon fish and a mango/papaya/jicama salad. When I was handed the food I was told it was made with love. These people are wonderful making wonderful food! read more

There isn't enough good things you can say about Mojitos. The food, the drinks, but more importantly the staff. To start with the food you can taste it is something that effort was put into and their recipes continue to be a welcomed delight. The special on Sundays with the oxtail soup is amazing and the Lechon is always extremely flavorful and juicy. The drinks are one of a kind and there are no alternatives to what Luam and Mojitos have to offer. From the different flights of rum and all the special Mojito cocktails the options fit every style. Now the staff is beyond perfect. Luam (the owner) is personable and warm. Luam comes to your table bringing a smile and a warmth that is incomparable, he swoops you in with charm and a big smile and you start to notice all his personal touches. Colors vibrating off the walls and music that gives the blood a pulse. You get a starter with a sweet taste of shrimp and pineapple which develops into a beautiful savory Caribbean taste as the plates continue to flow. Nothing about this restaurant is below 5 starts. If it's a place you are considering or you just came across it on a map, it's time to go. Come in with a empty belly and a full smile and the time will be yours. I have to start off by saying what a terrible place all around! Let me start by saying the atmosphere is nothing shy of horrific. The bathrooms look like a porta potty. I had bugs dropping from the ceiling onto my lap and into my food and one was at the bottom of my drink. I noticed halfway through our stay for dinner that one waitress was preemptively putting together Mojito glasses with everything but the liquor and I watched ants start crawling up the counter to inhabit these cups that were about to be filled and served. Not only is the atmosphere horrific in regards to bugs and infestation, but the people who work there obviously speak Spanish. and if they don't like you they shit talk you and I know this because not only do I and my partner know Spanish, which they had no idea and should be careful with what they say about their customers. They were shit talking the whole time and had mentioned that they needed to bring our bill to get the hell out of there and they actually came by with our bill before we even asked for it. And then while we were eating my partner and I were having a serious discussion about our week, and I was folding my hands on the table and one of the employees, The tall guy, came over and asked if I was doing good with a wacky thumbs up and said it looked like I was praying and laughed and pointed in my face. It's none of his business and I said I was having a serious conversation and then he interrupted it and he walked away and spoke with his lady coworker negatively about me. That is no way to treat paying customers I would highly NOT recommend this place! I will not be returning, and I'll make sure to actually write them a letter as well so that they hear what happened during my experience. read more

You know that feeling where you're super full but you can't stop eating because it's just that flavorful? Well that is totally my experience at Mojitos. It's tucked away so definitely follow the directions on the website. I ordered a mojito (duh) and the Vaca Grits for lunch. It was glorious. So yummy and just full of flavor. The sauces served with the dish gave every bite a punch. I also ordered a rum punch because I'm an alcoholic. And it was super yummy too. But the best part was the service. Another hidden gem in Seattle for Latin American cuisine. You can literally close your eyes, pick anything on the menu and you'll get a great meal. The food is amazing. They also play Latin music in the background which makes the experience even better. The owner is down the earth. This place was great. It's in kind of an odd spot, but I don't think there'd ever be a problem with the parking situation because of that. The food is absolutely delicious. Authentic and just... tasty. The lechon asado is fantastic, I'd highly recommend that. The service is great, the owner was all over the place and it was clear that he knew a handful of regulars that were in the restaurant that night. He sat down with us and chatted and told some stories, obviously very passionate about the restaurant. It was about 70% full, so not too empty and not full enough to warrant a wait or long cooking times after ordering. This place reminds me of La Isla, also one of my favorite spots. The other day, in an attempt to broaden my horizon as well as in support of the #blm movement, I was actively looking for black-owned restaurants serving cuisines I haven't tried before near home and that was when I landed on this gem. Decided to try their VACA FRITA after seeing a picture of the black-bean rice and oh man was I surprised. Super delicious cuban food--very well-balanced flavors in the mouth and loving the crispy smoked meat to pair with the rice. The sweet fried banana was a good dessert to pull back on the savory flavors the Vaca Frita offered. Highly recommend! The price for this dish comes to around $15 after tax which I think is a tad bit on the pricier side, but delicious food always wins. Will come back to try more food next time. Who eats dinner at 330pm? Anyways, came here to have dinner and you may pass it while driving by, it sits on a slightly odd corner off Lake City Way and the I-5 split off. No real parking lot so just park whereever you can find a spot. Feeling a little homesick....this place has been on my radar for some time now and being a big fan of Cuban food, I thought I would try it out. Walked in and the place was pretty busy with all the tables all taken up already. Inside has less than 10 tables, so we had to wait a bit before we got seated. I asked if we could sit outside but they didnt have enough staff to service the outside area so we continued to wait for a table to open up. Unfortunately, nothing opened up, and we thought about getting our food to-go but the server gentleman said that he didnt want us to wait any longer and he will serve us on the patio/outside area and set up a table for us. That was very nice of him. We already looked over the menu while waiting so we decided to get the Pepito sandwich and the Lechon Asado. The Pepito was pretty good, nice amount of grilled steak on the sandwich, flavorful, plenty of garlic mojo flavor as well. Came with a few tostones as well. You have an option to add a fried egg on top but we forgot to mention that to the server. The Lechon Asado was pretty good as well, nothing blew me away but it wasnt bad. Flavorful marinated shredded pork with some pretty good congri, a couple of tostones and a few yuca fries. The herb garlic mojo sauce they put on it is pretty tasty, very garlic-y that will give you a hit of spice and enough to keep the vampires away. Food took a while to come out but the service was ok, I can tell they were short staffed, but they were working hard trying to keep up. Overall, I would come back again to try more of their menu. read more

Note: we came for late lunch on 2/29 around 245pm. The food: was pretty good. I'm Colombian and dominican so I know what the food should taste like. The menu options seem to favor Venezuelan/Cuban fare less than Colombian but the empanadas were not bad and had more of that Colombian corn masa. We order vaca frita, pabellón and parilla mojitos and and a side order of maduros. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Food was well prepared & seasoned nicely. Environment: I honestly felt like I was walking into a small establishment some where in central, south or Carribean latino America. A little concerned about cleanliness but saw the "excellent" health rating on the window, so it eased my mind a bit. The tables were concrete tops w coins from Latin countries. Painted w bright Latin Carribean colors but still a little dingy and dirty appearance. Glassware seemed old, and cloudy. I decided not to drink the water and went for a bottled Jarrito instead. Service was less than mediocre. We walked in one of the helpers was eating empanadas in the kitchen. The other server had her back to the door. We were trying to figure if we sat ourselves, ordered at the window or if they waited on us. It was a few minutes of confusion before I asked and the server said she'd wait on us and to take a seat. She took out order. Wasn't very attentive or aware of things we needed. So asking for napkins, or ice in our water was not anticipated by her. The food and everything was delivered by a zombiesk kid. Who awkwardly stood at the end of the table while we talked while he tried to ever so slowly, put our appetizers down. He also delivered all our food. Mind you it wasn't busy. But the waitress was standing back to this small restaurant w her arms crossed leaning on the pass thru facing the kitchen. She did not check back on us. I had to waive her down a couple times for things. She only had 2 tables while we were there. She did deliver the to go item we ordered. Then she sat down to eat while we waited for our check. I made eye contact w her a couple times... our plates were gone. We finished eating. The to go item was delivered. She didn't check to see if we needed anything or if we wanted our check. She just sat down to eat in the dining room fa ing her 2 tables. I had to ask her for our chk since looking at her in wonder didn't give her the hint I might need something. Despite the good food, I'm not sure I would come back if this is the level of service or sheep of the environment. 3 stars for food flavors. 1 for service and 2 for environment. So I think this is a pretty accurate review. If you don't mind bad service or dingy restaurants & want to try some food Latin food then go for it. read more

Yum! We couldn't decide what food to order and wanted to try something new. We found Mojito on Uber Eats and decided to try it due to the great reviews on Uber Eats. The empanadas were good, not our favorite but we are used to Argentine empanadas, so I think they were just different than what we expected and are used to. I got the Camarones Carmen Miranda and absolutely LOVED it. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the pineapple was so sweet and juicy. The flavors worked really well together. We were pleasantly greeted and seated by the owner, Luam We had: *Camarones Carmen Miranda (GF) Sauteed shrimps with grilled pineapple, mango, and bell peppers. Dang, it was divine! The shrimps were fresh, succulent, and perfectly seasoned. The mango and pineapple gave a balance of sweetness and tartness to the dish. It was also served with tostones (fried plaintain) topped with refreshing guasacaca (avocado salsa). A must try appetizer! *Parilla Mojito (GF) Citrus-marinated steak with served with white rice, black beans, yuca frita, tostones, and guasacaca. This is listed as their signature dish so we had high expectation! Few bites later, we were left amazed by how juicy and flavorful the steak was! The yuca frita was also delectable. A must try! *Lechon Asado (GF) Roasted marinated shredded pork served with congri (rice and beans), yuca frita, and tostones. The congri was so fluffy and aromatic; the best I've had so far! The pork, however, was decent. We felt that it wasn't as flavorful and memorable as other dishes. *Vaca Frita (GF) Shredded beef marinated in lime juice and sauteed with onions, garlic, and sweet peppers.
