For most reviews, you review the dining portion of the restaurant…read more.. But this is specifically for their ingenious thoughtfulness to the CARRYOUT patrons. Mad Mex has ensured that carryout is no longer a burden for patrons, that they can quickly accommodate orders without burdening their own staff, and widely advertise it as an option. They literally busted out a wall and added a door directly to the designated carryout counter of the bar. Rather than waiting in line with seating, telling the hostess that you are picking up an order, generally being sent to the bar to find an available way to flag down the bartender to pay, and then waiting for someone to go check in the kitchen if your order is ready. You now have... - a designated door on the front of the building which is well-labeled as Takeout Orders - a portioned off part of the counter dedicated to interactions with the bartenders for picking up - a place for the staff to place orders ready at the counter rather than waiting back in the kitchen. I love it! Takeout is a breeze!!!

Had lunch the other day with a friend, and it was good. Not the authentic Mexican I'm still…read moresearching for, but we had several tasty items. My friend recommended the black bean dip, and it was quite good. I'm a guac/salsa & chips girl, but this was a nice change. It was flavorful and had a nice smoky kick from chipotle. Sadly, this is another Mexican place that has eliminated the free chips & salsa. For my entree - a Mad Mex bowl with shrimp. The grilled corn was a great addition. The faro was a bit thick with the other items, but the grilled peppers & onion, with fresh cherry tomatoes, avocado, and shrimp were really good. I did ask a server for some salsa, and she brought a small ramekin of this *fabulous* pineapple habanero salsa that she said was her fave, and I quickly saw why. Excellent stuff - the pineapple really sings with a zip of citrus & heat. Yum! My friend got his usual - the crispy Baja tacos. The 3 tacos were crammed with cornmeal breaded & fried tilapia, slaw, avocado, cilantro, and topped with a zingy chipotle aioli. The only negative to me was the flour tortillas; I'm a corn tortilla girl. That dish came with rice o & beans. It was a TON of food. We each ended up taking food home. It was a nice lunch. Service was ok. Next time I come, I'll either try their signature burrito or - my friend's sister's fave: the wings (at a Mexican joint?!?). My friend - who has been coming for years - thought the prices had gone up on the menu. Almost $18 for *tilapia* fish tacos is definitely a bit much. Still, I would try it again. Love the decor inside. The place is huge. Great for big parties.

Why did you have to "improve" the burritos, Mad Mex?…read more The old spicy chicken burrito was perfect. It was dependable, comforting, and exactly what I wanted when I didn't feel like cooking but also didn't want disappointment wrapped in a tortilla. Now we've traded actual chicken breast for chopped chicken thighs, and somehow I'm supposed to pretend it's the same thing? It's not. Different texture, different taste, different experience entirely. The old burrito was a warm hug. The new one feels like someone saying "best we can do." And yes, I know the menu is massive and endlessly customizable. But sometimes people don't want innovation. Sometimes they just want the thing they've been ordering for years without it getting "updated." At the very least, give customers the option to substitute chicken breast for the thighs. Everybody wins: the thigh enthusiasts stay happy, and the rest of us can reunite with the burrito we've been missing. The service is always spot on and the atmosphere is great...now to figure out what my new "old standby" order will be. Decisions.....decisions!

Recently my brother and I went to Mad Mex hoping for a gobblerito, but we failed to check online…read morebefore we went and narrowly missed them! Our visit to the Robinson location was good, anyways. I've been to this location a handful of times previously and never had a bad experience. Both of us got burritos and an appetizer of chips and salsa to share. I also decided to have a margarita and it really hit the spot! My burrito had 3 different sauces on it, a side of sour cream, and I decided on beef birria as my protein. Definitely worth the small upcharge! Overall our dinner was enjoyable and the waitress was friendly and helpful. We don't go to Mad Mex super often, but it's a good choice in the Robinson area and the prices are fair. As a chain restaurant hater most of the time, I do like Mad Mex.

From the time we entered and left you would have thought we were a total inconvenience. A more than half empty restaurant and we were advised they don't have a table for 12 and not sure if they could actually seat us at all. I asked if we could go to the bar and the manager who was a blonde woman said "sure" but we can't really hang out for long. (What does that even mean???). We made our way to the bar and our group was casually making their way in but we were advised that we can use any of the bar tables and we all have to open separate tabs, which was fine. Out of thin air a back table randomly appeared (sarcasm) and they said we can move our party to that table and we would have a dedicated waitress. The waitress took one round of drinks and appetizer order and then never came back. We couldn't even get a refill of waters. When I went back to the bar the bartender said we have to order from our waitress and I said "The one that doesn't want to wait on us??" And told her I would just give her cash for a beverage since I know she didn't really want me opening a tab. The was my 2nd time here and both have been subpar and a joke. Overall you have a management problem who I guess doesn't need to make money on a random slow Wednesday night.

Now that I work from home, I was happy when this one opened. I have never had a bad meal. My mom and I went for lunch today before a doctor's appointment and really enjoyed it. The bartender did such a great job taking care of us. He was so kind and compassionate. We were happy that they had a great lunch special for $10.99. There were two options either two tacos, a side and a drink or one taco, a drink and dip. We chose the one taco (chicken bacon ranch is always a winner - Yum!). I chose the guacamole with pineapple which is unbelievable. I also had the strawberry Agua Fresca which was really good. My mom had the street corn dip which was really good too but a little spicy. I normally get the brisket tacos which are consistently good. We will definitely be back and try other things.

Got to try a few different flavors and everything tasted great. Burrito was ok. Wasn't anything too exciting. Very plain. Condado unfortunately does not offer free chips and salsa which is my pet peeve. Corporate greed lemme tell ya. Overall, not bad. Not good. The margs would be the sole reason I'd come back. Unfortunately, Barrio is still better.
