They cut my big toe and didn't slow down enough to cut the dead skin and cuticles on my other toes Other than that they were okay but being cut and drawing blood is worrisome. I hope it doesn't get infected. They also have autoclave bags but it doesn't seem like they're actually put through an autoclave machine. When I was getting my manicure they had re-used tools that didn't seem to be sterilized. I wish shops like these weren't so focused on getting lots of customers and more focused on quality. I have been going there for a while, two techs are great with designs, but no one slows down enough for cuticle care. I'm not asking for a Russian manicure, most of the time they don't cut them. No pushing them back. I started asking for cuticle care, still did not get it. So,I started doing my own cuticle care prior to my visits. I have been very loyal, going regularly for months. They are too rushed and not all of them are good with designs, but will say they can do the inspo I have. The workers are kind and friendly but when Tina isn't there its not worth it. Quality has dropped significantly in my last 2 visits. I requested no cutting only filing and she cut my nails quite short. I repeatedly asked for a thin French tip with low side walls, and they were thick and looked like a U. When I went to pay, every other customer received a free nail oil pen, but I was not offered, which may be because it was a pedicure and not a manicure, not sure about the reason. I am sure that I need to find a new nail salon though, which is a bummer. I think if you were only doing one color, this is a good salon with decent prices. read more

I've gone here a few times over the years and always loved their designs. This time I tried a new acrylic glue that I was told would be lighter on my nails and easy to remove with acetone and hot water. Unfortunately, removal was extremely painful even after soaking for a while it ended up ripping off parts of my real nails and skin. I walked in with what can only be described as a nail nightmare. The night before I had made the bad decision to do my on nails with a "beetles nail kit" . I was immediately greeted by two employees and asked what I needed. HELP lots of help. I didn't have an appt but they got me right in. The gentleman doing my nails was so nice even through it was obvious that I used enough glue to put a spaceship together. He was kind and made sure I was comfortable as he tried to pry these horrible nails off my natural nails without causing any further damage. He made sure I understood my nails were gonna be SHORT since I had made a mess of them lol He was so quick and I'm so so glad I didn't try to attempt this at home! **Lacked proper hygene and fungus control practices! Emory board was previously used on another client, then, put back into the bin for the next client?? (usually emory is used once, then given to the client. Nail clipper was 'cleaned' with a small corner of a washcloth, that was dabbed in alcohol to 'clean' tool, not autoclaved to remove the bacteria and fungus on tools. I have been going to Modern Nails for a couple of years now, never a negative experience until yesterday, July 2nd 2025. I went in for a full set of acrylic tips and was assigned to a male tech who I believe has never done my nails. He asked me what length I wanted the nails and I said medium, he glued one tip,cut it and showed me; although I hesitated at first I said it was OK. He proceeded to glue and cut all the rest but BEFORE he went on to applying the primer and the acrylic, I looked at my hands and asked him if he could remove those because they were too short; I apologize for the inconvenience but I felt that it should not be a major issue. I am a regular customer who has never complained about anything. He looked at me and said: "You want me to remove these and put new ones?" I said: "yes, please, I am so sorry" at that point he said something in his language which I did not need to understand to know that we was not happy; this was followed by some a conversation that made all the other technicians around him burst out laughing.The way he proceeded to remove the tips was a clear indication that he was very annoyed and aggravated by my request. That experience made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected.The owner should be aware that this kind of behavior is unprofessional and should be unacceptable; especially when there's so much competition around. To me, this talks volumes and not in a positive way about the owner or whoever is in charge at this nail salon because it talks about how much you value your customers and the respect or lack of respect you have for the people who keep you in business. Remember that what you permit, you promote! It is very unfortunate that this happened because they do have good techs like "Song" who is the sweetest lady and does an excellent job. After my nails were done I had a pedicure with her. I still tipped generously, above 20% because I felt it would not have been fair to make "Song" pay the consequences of what this other guy did. I've been going here for a long time now and normally get dip powder nails but I'm going to a wedding this weekend and I had to dip my gargoyle feet in the pedicure tub so as not to embarrass my family. They did a great job. I picked the second to most expensive option because I wanted the paraffin dip and the whole process was lovely. This place gets some really sketch people so I would not necessarily trust all the reviews you see because I see people coming in and trying to negotiate pricing. I get that this is a luxury for many but if it is, go with basic luxury, don't try to get as much as you can for as little possible. This store is open 7 days a week and takes tons of people as walk in's despite having appointments (I'll admit I'm guilty of this too.) but your luxury should dig into the backs of those providing the service. I've always had a great experience at this place. If you feel someone cutting, drilling, or filing too close then just tell them. read more

I've been here one other time. The first time I was very impressed with the lady who did my pedicure however not so much with the lady I got today. You pay for the 2nd to most expensive pedicure the parafin needs to be all over my feet and not just my heels ugh. Not impressed. I guess learned my lesson and will come back on Sundays next time. I've had my fair share of nail shops but this one takes the cake. I called to see if they were busy and could do the service I needed and they responded that they could. So I arrived and was greeted promptly and chose my color. My technician was an older female who began to prep the water and begin services. I do not care about technicians, as long as I get the service I paid for. But not just the service, QUALITY service. My technician clearly did not want to be at work this day and that was shown in the effort and quality of work. I would've been better off just getting the color removed and doing an at home pedicure myself. Each time I asked for something to be corrected there was clear frustration on her face which led to a conversation I couldn't understand. If It wasn't the lack of attention to detail, It was the missed nail polish on my toes, or the cuticles not being cleaned. Each time she would respond "you okay" and which I replied yes The last straw for me was when she took a brush, dipped It in a solution and cleaned under her nails and her hand and proceeded to try and use the same brush on me which I stopped her from doing so and asked her to use a different brush. I know many do not care about sanitation practices but a nail salon is the quickest place to pick up an infection. At this point another technician subbed in and finished the rest of the service. Called ahead and was able to walk-in for a dip manicure 45 minutes before closing Saturday night. I already had dip color that needed to be removed and was concerned the salon would rush my service. In my experience, some salons would take shortcuts so they can, understandibly, close on time. However, the service often felt rushed, and results were poor and didn't last long. That was NOT the case here! The team here was welcoming, responsive, and attentive. I got my full service and did not feel like I was being rushed out. On top of that, my nails have not looked so good! My technician was thorough and too their time-- dusting between coats, coating for opacity, but making sure the applications weren't too thick. I had a very unpleasant experience at this nail spa. They were not friendly and their customer service was poor. They assigned someone inexperienced to do my nails and my pedicure was not fully done w my choice of service, requested #3 charged the price of # 5. When I questioned it, I WAS made out to be a liar! I was very uncomfortable because they spoke in a different language other than English, and I know it was derogatory & bias, esp w grandpa as soon as I entered the place, where we stared eye to eye after his verbal expression to the employee, and in my heart I felt as though they were talking about me. I felt they treated me differently than their other clients. I was given a gift card from my job as a retirement gift, other than receiving that, I would never have spent the $269 there!!! I was so disappointed with whole experience & havent felt so degraded to the point of remembering all the racism I expierence being born in LA & growing up in the South! Btw, each time I came into the business the other clientele just stared at me, as if saying what is she doing here. I truly dont believe blacks are welcome there! I was in here a couple weeks ago for a pedicure and overall it's a pretty decent place. It's open on a Sunday which was fantastically convenient. It's located in a little shopping center and is a small nail salon with the first room being manicure tables and a side pedicure room with three chairs. There was a little confusion it seemed when I stepped out of the routine of just picking your polish and sitting down. I showed a few inspiration pictures of toenail designs I wanted to try out for my upcoming wedding. Several employees came and talked it over and asked me questions. There were some communication barriers to overcome but I was grateful they were making an attempt to clarify what I was looking for. Not a particularly challenging design, just a polish with some selective glitter, no painted designs or anything. It was explained to me that the woman who was performing my pedicure was new and learning and understood minimal English which wasn't a problem. We communicated with smiles and she was kind and very detail oriented. Really the only parts of my visit that were less than stellar was that the pedicures were really fast both for me and the woman in the chair next to me. There werent people waiting or anything but it was one of the quickest I've had. A different person came to do the polish and I asked how many rhinestones she was planning on placing, cause again I'm just trying to determine the design I want for my big day, and she seemed offended at my intervention. I know she's a professional so I didn't want to micromanage and I didn't ask again. Cost is very reasonable, around 30-35 for design and a regular pedicure. I have been really disappointed in how the polish is holding up though. I only wear socks and slipons at work so polish usually holds well on my toes a few weeks. Before the first week was up several toes lost the polish in full sheets just flaking off, at the two week mark nearly all the toes had lost the polish in full sheets except the big toes. In general, it's not a bad place. Very affordable and convenient. Design work I experienced wasn't bad and from other yelpers it seems like they can actually achieve some pretty intricate designs. Just a few things that were missing for me. Still worth checking out though! read more
