It is SO HARD finding a unique place for glasses. Most stores have a huge selection of the same type of glasses, with slight variations. Also, most of the people who work there don't really know how to adjust frames other than overbending the arms by the ear, which just makes it uncomforable to wear. Moda Optique not only has special, stylish, unique glasses, they know how to find a pair that suits your face well. While they don't do exams, they can put your Rx on the glasses. I got a pair of Lindbergh from Asia almost two years ago and tried three other optical shops to try to get them adjusted but couldn't get them right. I was told I needed to change the nose pads. For the first time, I visited Moda Optique based on the reviews on here and the fact that they carry Jacques Marie Mage frames. Calling to make an appointment was super easy and straightforward (I have terrible phone anxiety), and I was able to nab an appointment for after the holiday. I met George, and I told him the frames I was interested in, and I also brought a few of my current frames to give him an idea of what I like to wear. He immediately found a small selection for me to try on and refined his search based on how I looked and some feedback. He demonstrated a keen eye for shapes that worked with me despite maintaining physical distance and my mask covering half my face. He even got his laptop to show me some color options that weren't available in-store. After careful curation, George came to the perfect Jacques Marie Mage frames and also some Barton Perreira frames that I would have never tried without his assistance. Once I chose the frames, he took my pupillary distance the old-school analog way (super cool to witness)--he even recommended an alternative to the now-ubiquitous blue-light blocking coating. He recommended a different lens material that has the same properties as the coating without the garish cast. I emailed my prescription, and he checked me out soon after. A couple of weeks later, I received a cordial email (I love non-phone call options) stating my glasses had finally arrived. I made an appointment for later that afternoon and eagerly went my way to Pasadena. Once I arrived, George began the final fitting process and worked with my facial mask to achieve the perfect fit. He meticulously and flawlessly adjusted my frames (and even the sunglasses I had with me as a courtesy) in a short time, and I was on my merry way with my uber-chic frames. Overall, my experience at Moda was extremely positive and productive. I came in with a specific idea in mind, and George delivered. You should go to Moda if you like a more tailored and polished look and want to eschew more pedestrian offers. I've been coming to see George for new lenses for a few years now, every time my prescription needed tweaking. He has always been knowledgable and helpful with great communication and the lenses seemed to always arrive ahead of schedule. I only had the one pair so I was able to hold onto them until the lenses arrived and then once they had I would swing by and he'd pop them in quickly and have them back to me expediently. My sole pair for years were antique wire frames and he handled them great care. Recently, I purchased my first set of "new" frames in about a decade. I'd initially approached him for help with sizing so that I could ensure I purchased the right pair from the manufacturer, only to find out, in doing so, that it was a brand he carried. He offered to match the manufacturer's price, including their first purchase discount, and was thoughtful and diligent in ensuring I felt confident about the frames before we ordered them. Once they arrived, we found that the transition lenses he'd ordered had been sent in the wrong color by the supplier (no fault of his). He quickly worked to remedy the situation, ordering the correct ones while I tried out and "broke in" the new frames until they arrived. During that first week of wearing them I quickly realized that transition lenses had been a misstep as they did not offer as much protection as my sensitive eyes require. I let George know and he was totally understanding and worked with me to find a solution (we opted for clip on shades instead), all the while ensuring that I got the most affordable options and that I was not left out of pocket for the transition lenses. A+ service from top to bottom. A great guy who takes pride in his work, really cares about his customers' satisfaction and goes out of his way to ensure it - patiently and without pressure. Hratch is not only an optician, he is ,as his business card states, an Eyewear Consultant. His processes for helping you select your glasses is that of a stylist. He takes into consideration the shape of your face, your personal style, and even what kind of persona you'd like to have (in the case of my husband). I bought my sun glasses (Tod's) at Moda Optique about a year ago and I got so many compliments on them I went back a few months later and replaced my old daily wears with new Barton Perreira's. My husband bought his new glasses about three months ago and too receives a barrage of compliments. This review has been a long time coming. I purchased a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses from Hratch back in May of 2012. While the store's quality selection of boutique frames stands out against competing stores, it's Hratch, himself, who is the real reason to visit Moda Optique. Hratch spent an hour with me pulling out all sorts of sunglasses and discussing the finer points of why certain frames looked good while others did not. Then, when I had selected the pair I was ready to purchase (at a very competitive price, I might add), he spent an additional 15 minutes fitting them perfectly to my head, molding the frames so that they sat in all the right places and were snug against my face. Raj, as I call him is as good as you can get in fashionable eye wear. I have been a customer since 2004 and I go back on almost a yearly basis. He is a perfectionist and is serious when he makes choices for his customers. The thing I enjoy most about him is that he gives each customer their individual attention. He will easily spend up to 30 minutes alone on you while other customers wait. He believes in one customer at a time and first come, first served. What people don't understand is he is a one man show. This isn't Lens Crafters and he doesn't have a dozen sales people. He carries name brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Cartier in addition to the unknown (Oliver Peoples, E of 7). His motto is to provide the ultimate in customer service. Having said all that, don't go there looking for cheap prices! If you are just looking for cheap shades, then try Costco or target, not Moda Optique. He is not uber expensive but pampering comes at a price. So to summarize: - Will pick out glasses that are to your "style." - Every pair that I have purchased, I have received compliments (not that I was looking for any, but it represents his good taste and selection for me). - I purchased at least 3 sunglasses and 5 eyeglasses through him over time. - He even takes care of the glasses I have not purchased from him (clean, repair, tighten). - Carries name brands and has a nice selection of unknown brands. - He is not a wholesaler or discount type of store.
