It was the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house.... everyone was apparently craving pizza! We arrived sometime around 7pm and the line was snaking into the seating area. It moved pretty quickly at first, but then the single person in front of us ordered 10 individual custom pizzas! While that customer's rudeness is not reflective of this business, the employee's reaction to it was. With an order of 10 pizzas just made, a long line, and phone orders coming in, you'd expect them to act with urgency... not the case. I watched some of the slowest, apathetic pizza-making I've ever seen in my life. When they did finally get to taking our orders, they were not friendly, let alone apologetic about the wait. Likely as a result of the unexpected pre-Thanksgiving crowd, various pizza toppings were running low and the employees had trouble restocking fast enough, or at all. All of our orders were missing something, whether it be a topping that was neglected, or a final drizzle of pesto that was listed on the menu for that item. When they called us, we had to request the final drizzle even though it should have already been done. The topping bar that was set-up for after the pizzas came out of the oven was completely out of sauces, so the employees had to run back over to the starting station to get their toppings, clogging up the order line even more. My pizza turned out very good after all of that, but not everyone with my group was as lucky. This was a pretty mediocre experience and I'm not sure if I would return even if I lived in the area. read more

Worst pizza of my long life spent on three continents where pizza has become The international food. It was cheap, scanty and so minimalist as to be disregarded as "food." Perhaps 1 Tablespoon of sauce a single spot, and -- seriously, for a pizza advertised as having artichokes, each slice received 1 leaf (yep -- that's ONE) leaf of a bottled or canned artichoke heart! As I ordered a small pizza, I think it added up to six leaves, but having thrown the inedible mess away, I can't be sure if it amounted to six or eight slices. I had this inedible pizza delivered and MOD Pizza couldn't even get that right. My beverage was completely missing and when I called, some young thing, in a cheerful voice, assured me that my credit-card would be credited with the cost of the beverage. And I am still waiting. There are quite a few pizza places in the area, seems like one per strip mall, and this is my favorite. Not only is the pizza top notch but the customer service is the best. I came in this past week and was greeted by Nee Nee, she was amazing, she was positive and made my day. Really good pizza. Like others have said, if it's made wrong- it's your fault! On a down side- when I put my order in to pick up at a certain time, I expect to pick it up then. It was ok. Not awesome but not bad. The concept is interesting to build your own pizza, the crust was great! The veggie ingredients looks fairly fresh (the meat looked a bit suspect though). I asked for extra cheese and they gave me a little bit more but they were pretty conservative with the cheese. It was not as clean as I would like, floor could use a good sweeping and tables needed to be wiped off. It wasn't very busy. I might go back if I was driving by but it's not on the top five places where I would go get pizza. read more

Wow, what a great surprise! The pizza here is actually some of the best I've had since I moved to Raleigh from New York over 20 years ago. The crust is chewy and crispy, the toppings are really good. Not the best pizza I've ever had in my life, but really pretty good. In addition, the ordering process online is pretty decent, a little bit confusing but you can figure it out. My wife and I were walking by and noticed that people were in it even though the grand opening is not until Monday. We went in and talked with the manager. They were giving away free pizza, one medium per person. I ordered the "Tristsn" and my wife ordered the "Dominic". Even though my wife's pizza could have used a little more tomato on it, they will add more at no charge, it was a really good pizza. My pizza was even better, though my wife might disagree. By far the best crust I have had in the Raleigh area, we have lived here since '92. I will put in on par with Bertucci's. (If you are from Boston you will know this place). We are planning to pick up a couple different pizzas on Monday, and maybe eat in. We are really happy this place is opening. read more

Really good, fast pizza. I've never waited more than 10-12 min for my order. Be aware that at peak times, e.g., Fri and Sat nights, you may wait in line for more than 25 min before you get to order. I visited MOD for the first time today and had a really good experience. To start off, the gentleman behind the counter, sensing it was my first visit, asked if it was indeed my first time visiting. When I said yes, he was great in explaining how the concept worked, which didn't take very long. I decided to freestyle and create my own pizza. There are a lot of toppings to choose from. Enough to satisfy most everyone, except for that person who is never satisfied. They even had lactose free cheese for the lactose intolerant people of the world. The two gents behind the counter were patient while I was working through my tipping indecision. When I was done creating my masterpiece, it was a short few minutes before they called my name and a heavenly looking and smelling pizza was ready for me to eat. The last step, tasting. It was fantastic. The crust was crispy, the cheese well melted and the toppings were great. All for a reasonable price. I will return. read more

My husband and I have wanted to try this place for some time. Everything we drove by it, it was packed. We went there for lunch one day and couldn't wait to go back! I love that you can build your own pizza. I also appreciate how often the preparers switch gloves. I couldn't tell you what I ordered in my pizza because so many things were on it! At the end I added a pesto topper. The crust is thin, which is a warning to those who like it thicker. My only complaint is that the tables were dirty. It was apparent that before we came in there was a lunch rush. There was soda spilled on tables, crumbs and trash. We cleaned off our table and then another worker started to clean off the other tables. My husband and I cannot wait to go back. It was great food and affordable! Came in on opening day with 3 people I front of us at 6:45pm. It took about 15 minutes to get through the line. Understood since its their first day open. The order taker kept putting his Sharpe in his mouth between writing orders down. I thought that was kind of gross. The toppings weren't applied edge to edge but rather mostly in the middle of the pizza. Obviously not professional pizza makers but pretty common at these types of "BYO", fast fired pizza joints. From the time we paid out took 16 minutes to get the pizzas. I've been to many of these concepts and for the most part, they are all the same. Some better than others. MOD ranks right there I the middle, it was okay. I'm not planning on going back tomorrow or anything. There was one in a neighboring town that opened and we were there everyday for 3 weeks straight because it was THAT good. Not the case here. Really disappointed as we were getting excited for one of these in our own neighborhood. Oh, well. Other things I noticed while we were there that was a turn off. The guy cutting the pizzas kept wiping the side of his mouth with his hands. The GM (I only know this because he's on the website), 2 times took off his hat and ran his fingers through his sweaty hair. The overall experience now wants me to take off another star but I'll leave it where it is at 3. read more

Very friendly service!! We came in opening day, a little after noon and the free pizzas were already gone! Today we came in again and they remembered us. The first time we shared a mod pizza and we each had about 2 big slices of the mad dog. I would recommend getting a mod for one person, you will have some left over but I don't think one mod is enough for two unless you get something on the side! The line was very quick. I love that no matter what you put on your pizza it's the same price based on the size! Its kind of a noisy place to eat so be aware of that, though I love the atmosphere when you walk in and everyone is yelling and greeting you! It may calm down as the place grows older. Also be aware that if it's busy there may not be a place to sit! So happy they got busy and full but we took the last seat! Overall, love the people, love the atmosphere, love the pizza sauce and crust and bunches of toppings, cannot wait to try their fresh green salad next time! Definitely a new favorite spot! I love Mod Pizza! Located conveniently to my house, my husband and I have been to Mod Pizza a few times and I have also been here a few times with my family. It's my pizza place of choice when I want something quick and close by. I generally do the make your own pizza and at $7.77 for the regular size, I love the fact that you can get whatever toppings on your pizza that you want. They have a good mix of toppings to choice from, including meats, veggies and a variety of cheeses. You can also choose your sauce and when your pizza comes out of the oven you can add another sauce on top if you want (I really like the srirancha)! The line can move a little slowly at times when they are getting a lot of online orders in, however, I think it is worth the wait. They also have local beer on draft but usually here I choose the blackberry lemonade! The pizza is also big enough for me to usually have some leftovers for lunch the next day, which is always a good thing! Amazing! Very affordable and delicious pizza and salads. I've only had takeout, but the Mad Dog and Jasper are delicious. The Caesar salad is really yummy as well and includes tomatoes. I'm not sure if it's because I started my order with "I have a coupon for a free pizza" ...but the pizza I ordered should have had arugula,spinach, basil and onion on it. What I actually got was like a big cracker with some cheese, like one spinach leaf and one onion ring per slice. She just greeted me as a long lost friend as I have not had the opportunity to grab some pizzas for my office or friends in a few months. Every one involved there is very customer friendly, beginning with a "hello" upon entering... but to be singled out of the crowd by Vicki is amazing based on their volume. After more than a hundred-plus purchases since this MOD opened I have never had anything but exactly what I wanted...(!!!) It is a well thought out and executed business plan that I am sure I am not the only patron that wonders why they 'didn't think of this concept'.(?) MOD is always sparkling clean and they really wish to please...always politely inquiring if there is any thing else to drink, etc, rather than just 'selling'.
