The boys and I pulled up to MOD the other day and were hungry af. The homie kylie ordered a Caesar salad and the employees proceeded to ask her how to make a caesar salad. Kylie didn't know how to make it, that's why she paid money to have it made for her. The man making my pizza was wearing a gravity falls hat and making hella sus noises but it was cool because it really just contributed to the ambience. My friend AJ ordered a pepperoni pizza and the cook burnt it. That was kinda bummy but then they gave us a brand new free pizza! The patio was kinda crowded and there was hella mormons sitting out there so the vibe was kinda off. 6 of us came together and there were a lot of tables that sat 6 people but at every 6 person table there was only 2 people sitting there. Ok so I've been to this mod since it opened and it used to be phenomenal. Over the years as they have expanded other locations have just been more consistent. But I went with my girlfriend and son to this location again cuz it's right by the house. There were two families with small kids in front about 10-12 people total. The all ordered and we waited in line no problem, we were next up and there was nobody behind us. The lady pulled a to go order and said "just a minute I'll be right with you." No worries. But she never acknowledged us again. And proceeded to do a 10 pizza to go order by herself with one other person helping after 3-4 minutes. Never acknowledging us again. By this point my son is getting a little fussy and still nothing. After about 10 minutes of being the only people still in line and the other families in front of us having gotten our food, we took our money to the copper and Warner location. 30 minutes total out of our way but they always have been so consistent and provided great service. I've just never had that happen in my entire life. Where someone just ignores you like that and then when you are the last customer, they take a 10 pizza to go order and start completing that. We went to this MOD Pizza location at about 5pm on Sunday October 28th. The service was noticeably more lacking than usual but not bad enough I would make a complaint usually. Then, while we were sitting eating our food we noticed a girl walk in with a small snake (about 18" long and about as big around as a roll of quarters). She carried the snake in her hands and was letting it wrap around her wrist and hand. I was sure she would be asked to leave but was surprised to see the staff start talking and joking with her. She got a drink but didn't get any food. It seemed like she was probably an employee that wasn't working at the time. After a few minutes I saw her go back into the kitchen area with the snake still in hand. This was too much for me. A member of our group went to ask the staff about it. The person identified as the manager basically shrugged and said, "we let dogs and stuff back there too." Normally this would be something that a decent manager could fix by apologizing and asking her to leave. It was an extra kick in the pants that he downplayed the incident. Ive been going to this place since last summer and I love this Place! It's Fantastic! Their food is very authentic and really great! If you want to get you're taste buds going, THIS IS THE PLACE! I'm a regular there on every Friday or Saturdays (busiest nights). The best part of my experience is to get to see all the family, friends and even neighbors to get together and having a fun time. I love my community and it's a great place to hang out. Don't go to "my pie" or any other highway robbery pizza joints, their prices are great of what you get. I frequently eat at Mod but the last two times I have gone to the Santan location, the service has been terrible. My 2 daughters went in last Wednesday to order take out for my daughters birthday and the employees were so rude and made my daughters feel like they were a bother to them. I reached out via email to let them know of our dissatisfaction and haven't received any return email. Love it. It's a Subway but for pizza and its 100x better than Subway. You can choose a mini, mod or mega size pizza (for family sharing) and unlimited toppings. Seriously, it's unlimited. Want some extra chicken? You got it. It's free. Need extra pepperoni? It isn't an extra $3 so get it. It is made to order, too which makes it as fresh as it can get. The fire oven is really neat and their drink selection is awesome. They have a few local brews, excellent milk shakes, an awesome selection of soft drinks and lemonades, too. We decided to try this place because everyone told me it was as good as Blaze pizza in Tempe. They were so confused and got my orders wrong and mixed up. We came here after my daughters concert. We have been here a few times. Normally we have great food and service this time was a little off. My daughter wanted extra olives and the girl seemed to get very annoyed at her. They say all the toppings you want and as much as you want. I think this employee didn't get the memo?? I am paying for the food why should I feel bad that my daughter wants more olives?? Dump all of them on there if she wants them. Sounds stupid but it ruined the mood and atmosphere for me this visit. I am impressed with MOD pizza. I want to say that the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is for the seating and comfort of the restaurant, but more about that later. MOD is a design your own pizza restaurant with just a few other offerings such as salads and milk shakes. Think of it as a subway or Chipotle of pizza. The menu is limited so if you don't want pizza, go elsewhere. When we were there, the line was long and out the door so come at off times if you don't want to wait. There is pretty much every type of topping you can think of. The only topping they didn't have was green olives, which I would love if they added. There are suggested pizzas but you are free to pick your own as well; just pick a sauce, a cheese, veggies, meats and finishes. You are free to pick as much or little as you want and you pay the same price depending on what size you choose. The prices are very affordable. The pizza moves downy he line with you and then gets fired in a (coal, I believe) oven. It takes about 5-7 minutes to complete and then voila, your pizza is ready. The crust is a little bit like a lavosh crust, not a typical pizza crust, but still tasty. I really enjoyed the pizza I made; red sauce with mozzarella, artichokes, mushrooms, black olives, basil and spinach with a pesto drizzle. It was delicious. We also shared a caesar salad which was good too. As far as seating, this is where I would love an improvement. The seating areas are small with some high top tables and a few booths. The problem is the boots are smack where the line is so you have people on either side of you watching you eat while they are standing on line. It is pretty uncomfortable. There is a patio outside with misters and wire patio furniture as well. Not exactly comfortable, especially in the summer. I just wish this restaurant was bigger with better seating. This is not the kind of place I will bring my parents or grandmother for that matter as they won't find it comfortable. We have been here 3 times now, and they just opened last week!! The staff is great, cool industrial feel, nice being able to watch them assemble your pizza. I like that you can get as many, or as much, toppings as you like-all for the same reasonable price. Great!! The gluten-free crust is delicious!!! My husband and daughter are GF. We have searched high and low for good GF pizza in Gilbert-and have finally found it!! It's so good we ALL get the GF crust now!! The ingredients are always fresh, they're constantly changing things up on the recommended menu, and they even offer gluten-free crust, which isn't always the case for trendy pizza joints. The sauce, crust and cheese all fall short of the quality of Fired Pie. I appreciate all the choices of toppings and finishing sauces.
