We finally made it over to @mochinut_atx and loved the donuts! We tried the horchata, vanilla chai, and Java chip... the donuts were fantastic, chewy, and perfectly sweet. The Ube boba tea was good... nice and creamy. 4 out of 5 stars... . My only negative was that I got charged $1.50 for a larger box because they "didn't have" the smaller box for 3... then the next cashier pulled out the smaller box for the next person in line. Why should I have to pay because you didn't want to take 10 seconds to get a smaller box put together. By the time I checked out with the box and the tip I was $20 in... . I am a huge fan of mochi donuts so I was excited to find that Austin opened a Mochinut! The location is inside of Hana world so there is ample parking out front. Mochi donuts are soft and squishy and are always accompanied by unique and delicious flavors! The way that they are shaped also make it super easy to split them up if you're looking to share. Mochinut rotates their flavors weekly so keep that in mind if you are going there looking for a specific flavor. You can visit their Instagram account @mochinut_atx where they post weekly flavors. I'm such a fan. This was one of the places where I tried Mochinut (and mochi donuts in general) for the first time - and I think I'm addicted. The packaging is soooo cute, and the flavors are so fun and interesting. I've tried Mochinut in at least two different locations now, and they seem to keep their donuts at room temperature after baking, probably to preserve the icing's appearance (?). I can safely say that I still really like the doughnuts at room temperature or even after refrigeration lol. The flavors do rotate weekly, so I recommend following them on Instagram or Facebook (not sure if they have one at this time) to know what's in store for next week. I think the flavors can be better on some weeks than others, but the donut itself is the same unique spongy, bouncy, slightly chewy texture. I daresay I prefer the mochi donuts from this chain than this other place I've had before - but you didn't hear this from me. I know not everyone likes mochi donuts as much as I do (at least that's how it is between my friends and myself), but they're so unique, flavorful, and just sweet enough. I think I'm addicted. It's a little hard to find since it's inside the Hana World food court and not outside like google map may lead you to believe. You have to get a minimum set of three so we got the churro, (the best out of the three), Oreo (not bad but nothing exciting) and funnel cake(not great, barely sweet). I enjoyed the texture of the mochi donut as it is something not commonly found, if you're bored of regular donuts I'd recommended stopping by here for the churro ones which strike a good balance between sweet and not overpowering. Mochinut is the dessert we've been waiting for! It's Japanese rice cake (mochi) and American style doughnuts which originated in Hawaii. Located inside the Korean market, Hana World. Mochinut's donuts look beautiful and taste great. Most of the donut variations were gone by the time we visited the shop (around 2pm), so we didn't have a lot of choices. The churro donut was by far our favorite: It was soft, chewy and not too sweet. The Blueberry Yoghurt and Thai Tea donuts were a bit stale and the glaze tasted artificial. All in all, the donuts were not the best we've ever had but still great enough to go back if we are close by. read more

I was excited to try this place out since all the mochi donut flavors sounded and looked good. I got a box of 6 mochidonuts in strawberry shortcake, java chip, matcha, vanilla chai latte, horchata churro, and funnel cake. The donuts are soft and more chewy than your average donut, which is an interesting texture. The donut is like a ring with 8 "balls" that you can pull apart and eat. The donuts and the box they came in looked cute and pretty. However, the flavors weren't that impressive and weren't as flavorful as expected. The Java chip was probably the best one out of the whole box. It had a Java coffee flavored glaze and topping. The matcha flavor was decent and came with a chocolate dipped pocky stick. The strawberry shortcake flavor just tasted like your basic strawberry glazed donut. The vanilla chai latte didn't have any chai flavor at all to it and was a little too sweet. The horchata churro also didn't have much of that horchata or churro cinnamon flavor that I was looking for and tasted rather plain. Lastly the funnel cake flavor was pretty plain tasting itself. I also got an ube flavored milk tea with boba. The taste was very artificial tasting. I've had much better ube and taro flavored milk teas elsewhere. I've gone to 2 of the locations currently in Austin and have not been impressed. Food was good so was the latte but the service at both locations was awful. I asked if there was a calendar that shows which flavors they sell on certain days to which I just got the answer "we bring out new flavors on the weekends." They carry unique flavors like Ube etc so I would ask what it would taste like to which I just got a "it's tastes good" response full of annoyance. This is the first time I've had a mochi donut since we discovered them at Dunkin Donuts in Taiwan. I was excited to try them here! They were pretty good. At Mochi but you chose from about 6 flavors: 3, 6, or 12 donuts. Nope you can't just buy one or 4 or any number other than 3,6, 12 or increments of those box sizes. Now about the donuts- taste like mochi cake but there's oil for frying I guess. In our case the oil tasted a bit old. As least there's a long aftertaste of it. Flavor offering were playful and not traditional and it is more like a cake donut coating. Today's flavor churros (the best imo), watermelon ( not much flavor other than sweetness there), cereal, Oreo, latte and one other that I did get but can't recall what it was... not memorable! Would I come again? If I'm in the area and remember. Definitely would. It go out of my way for them. Though they are unique and fun. Personally I like Dunkin Donuts Mochi donut in Taiwan better. Such a fun place. I found them on Instagram and it was such an awesome find! The donuts are delicious, today we tried the iced mocha, the pineapple dragonfruit and the funnel cake. I also tried a coffee boba and everything was so delicious! The funnel cake was our favorite, it tasted like a raspberry filled jelly donut due to the drizzle across the top. They rotate flavors which means I'll definitely be back to try more. There's plenty of seating, and get here early! They often sell out and the line is steady and moving. I was really excited for the hype with mochinut launching in Austin! We went to try it out, and here are my thoughts on it. First of all, you're required to get a set of three, you can't order one individually. I was anticipating to just order one matcha one, but they didn't have it that day which was a bummer. I ended up just getting latte, strawberry and funnel. Out of the three, funnel was the most decent one. I did like the inside mochi texture a lot and the flavoring was on point. The other ones were not up to my standard because it was just too sweet for me, and it had that oily aftertaste to it. I couldn't finish them and felt like I wasted $9 when I could have just had one funnel mochinut, and would have felt satisfied. Overall, I'd suggest they let the customer just choose however many they want instead of being forced to get a set. Some people may not always be in a group and just want to have a bite alone. A little less oil, or a way to not have an oily after taste would be better too. I'm not sure if I'll be running back for them, but wouldn't mind giving it another try if I happen to be around and could order just one. read more

I had been hearing so much hype about the new mochi donut place and was in the area so i decided to try it out. The mochinut location is inside of Hana World Markets food court area. I was out running errands on my own in the middle of texas summer so i was a bit disappointed that you couldn't purchase individual donuts, the smallest pack they offer was 3. If I would have been heading home this would have been less of a bother but instead I knew they would soon be melted in my car and wasted. I decided to continue anyways because i was already here and chose three different flavors - Funnel Cake, fruity pebbles and Uber Churro. They were all really good but i would say my favorite was the fruity cereal one. The mochi texture was delightful though It could have been more interesting if the donuts themselves had varied in flavor instead of only having different toppings. Super tasty donuts with great flavors and chewy texture! We have tried the flavors: funnel cake, chocolate milk, twix churro, oreo(?), and strawberry cheesecake. They were all great! (I truly can't remember if the oreo donut flavor was actually oreo or some other chocolately flavor since that was our first trip and we've gone a couple times since, forgive me). The 5 stars for the review really come from the exceptionally sweet woman who works there. She is enormously patient and was very kind to not judge me when I stopped by one Friday afternoon with my children and one of them was having a meltdown. She even tried to help me out by engaging with him, and it worked... our experience of trying something new was still rocky, but salvaged because of her. And my son did end up deciding that mochi donuts were 'the best donuts ever!'. The next time we came, she remembered us, and spoke to him with gentleness and humor. Not bad but the freshness was lacking. I've had this brand in other states and I like it fresh and or warmed up. Not much of a selection and those prepared weren't in heated cases so everything was cold. They cost about $3 each so definitely overpriced for what you get. It's in an Asian (Hana Market) market so it is hard to find and you'll have to park and go inside to locate it. I think it could be better if the location was in a more populous area and if they kept the product warm. A drive thru would be great too. Cute packaging and the donut itself wasn't too sweet. The icings were on the sweet side so I would adjust that a bit or scrape it off. I hear the flavors rotate but I didn't care for any of the icings so it wouldn't matter to me. I guess I would go back if I need a donut fix but given the location and cold product, it most likely would never happen unless it was the only place available. It's a shame because other locations are pretty darn delicious! Note the signage was very basic. The kitchen itself and packaging are top notch but everything else is only mediocre. First off, I want to say the donuts here are good. I just had an awful experience with the cashier who I interacted with. I went on a Sunday around 11:30 so not super busy. There was a couple before me scooping out what flavors they wanted. They only wanted one donut but the cashier said they have to order 3?? Why is that a thing??? Let your customers order 1 donut if they want. Seems sketch? When it was my turn to order, I asked the cashier which flavors are gluten free. I'm fully aware mochi donuts are made with rice flour so they are automatically gluten free. It's just the icing that may contain gluten. BTW these are not gluten free mochi donuts. They put wheat flour in them??? Why I don't know... cashier acted like I was crazy for asking. Also there was a alternative milk options for the boba teas on the actual menu. I asked if I could have Thai tea with almond milk. And she gave me an attitude and said only the brown sugar tea can have alternative milk..... sooo why are the alternative milk options on the menu? I stumbled upon this place in a Facebook post and knew I had to check it out! I'm a big mochi ice cream lover as well as doughnut lover so this combination was a no brainer for me. I visited on a Saturday around 11:30am, so about 30 min after opening. There was no line but I could tell they were having a busy morning already. The read bean mochinut tray was completely empty. I knew I didn't want 6 donuts in one sitting, but the flavors all sounded good so I ended up getting the Frankenstein boba (ube/ matcha) and 6 mochinuts. Peach, lavender, churro, funnel cake, and vanilla I ate the lavender on the spot and while I will say if I was blindfolded and asked to guess the flavor i wouldn't have known there was any lavender in it... it was AMAZING. A warm slightly chewy and doughy texture. Absolutely the most satisfy mouth feel. I love the bubble shape because it makes it so easy to tear bite size pieces off. I will say the peach had a love stronger flavor and the others were fantastic as well. Luckily this place isn't that close to me otherwise I'd be on my way to 500 pounds in no time...
