I am a career hat wearer and found the most unique hat that looks like a topographic map- had to have it. But I also wanted a Battle Born hat but in blue- not on the shelf... bummer. Have no fear, Adam said he's make one for me just how I wanted. What??? Total customer service and a really neat guy to talk to. As a fellow(former) small Business owner I know what it takes to be successful and seeing his energy and attitude made me want to be a customer. The address had not been updated on Yelp so I drove to the old location. I called twice but no one…read moreanswered. Thanks to Google search I found the correct address in midtown. * I suggested an edit for the business and the address on Yelp is now up to date. I came to Crystal Cove in search of rings, bracelets, and earrings. I have enough crystals in other forms to sink a ship, but it's always nice to browse. I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She did some small talk asking me about how my holiday season was. Then she gave too much information about her and her family. She said I was free to look around and to let her know if I needed any help. She gave me a tiny wicker basket for shopping. The place is very small and it is packed with glass shelves so I had to be mindful of how I moved around the store. There were signs letting you know that you were being watched and to "Smile". I get it, tiny items can easily be shoplifted, but the cameras kind of take away the zen feeling. I found a case with a few trays of rings that I wanted to look at and try on. I asked the employee for help. At that time there were at least two other shoppers in the store and it was getting a bit packed. So I took the tray to the main counter thinking that way I would have more space to try on the rings and she could keep a closer eye on the other customers. She told me no. So she and I huddled next to each other as I tried on rings under her watchful eye. It felt very awkward. I quickly chose a ring, paid, and left. While I was checking out she again asked me how my holiday was. She also made a negative comment about the city of Reno. I don't plan on returning. I can find crystal jewelry and the farmers market and while I am traveling.

The Old Post Office in Reno is kind of a sad affair these days. The Basement seems to be doing…read morealright, at least with the number of businesses down there. The ground floor however, is largely empty with West Elm long gone, one gift shop (closed when I was by yesterday), and a small Indie bookstore named One More Chapter. And with me apparently writing its first Yelp review. The bookstore is well stocked, attractive, and well lit. I was drawn to the Bluey (Mom! - Dad! - Bingo! - Bluey!), within a nice children's section. I'll be back and I hope for more businesses on this floor and more foot traffic.

Upon checking out I asked to borrow a pair of scissors to remove some price tags from my order and was completely ignored. No one asked if I was a student to receive any discount. Are there veteran discounts? Who knows? Look at my reviews, most are fantastic and positive, so when I feel compelled to rate a business with two stars there must be a crack in the armor somewhere. So own it, look it in eye and fix it, or shake your head in disgust and blame the consumer. I'm guessing this place will choose the later option.
