I had such an amazing experience in Urban Scout! I had never been before but saw an ad on Instagram. I was specifically looking for a rattlesnake calathea and wasn't having much luck finding one. I reached out to Urban Scout and they had 2 in stock so I asked if he could hold on until 4 pm(about 6 hours after I reached out). I show up at 4 and Ken was working. I mentioned I had reached out about the Calathea and he instantly pulled it out from behind the register. Soooo nice! I was an environmental major in college, and I also collect house plants so the world of plants is super important and exciting to me. Ken was nice enough to not only show me around, but told me a bunch of cool facts about all these plants that I never even knew existed (such as, the rattlesnake calathea spreads out in the day time when its receiving light and will become more vertical as the sun goes down!) I went into the store looking for one specific plant and ended up leaving with 4! The service was enough to keep me coming back until the end of time! I had a great time learning new things and checking out all the beautiful plants. Ken gave me advice on some plant care for the new plants I picked up, and was very enthusiastic with me. This was extra cool because as I mentioned, this field is really important to me and it was totally inspiring to see someone share the same passion. The prices are very reasonable, and honestly lower than a lot of the other speciality plant stores in Reno. I'll 100% be back! read more

I LOVED this store! Tending to plants is a new hobby of mine picked up during the pandemic when I didn't have much else to do. I wanted to add to my plant collection and after seeing a friend's post about Urban Scout I had to check it out! Their staff is so nice and knowledgeable about the different plants and their needs. I believe I was helped by Nikki and she was so fun; you can tell she loves plants and puts a lot of research into them! Plants, Plants, Plants....SO many beautiful plants. I'm a little plant crazy obsessed at the moment, and this is my new go to spot to find some different varieties of house plants. The stores lay out is beautifully set up with gorgeous plants everywhere. They have a nice selection. They also have a nice selection of pots as well. I get excited just thinking about my next trip to this store. Your going to need/want all the plants after visiting this store. I didn't ask if they can special order certain plants, there is a particular one I'm looking for, but I will find out on my next visit!! read more

Loved this local business for gifts and plants. Always try to use local but unfortunately will stay with Sierra Water Gardens and maybe big box stores. Bought a number of gifts there at the beginning of the month. Decided one wasn't appropriate so tried to exchange today. (30 days). Clerk very nice but informed me it's a two week exchange policy. I understand small businesses need to limit returns but this was an exchange, item still in stock, price tag and labels intact. So a cute local business but off my list now. Just be aware when you shop. Very disappointed. read more

A pretty little place with a big variety of plants and some pottery as well as plant stands. The staff was cheery. Light and bright inside so you can get a good look at the merchandise. They'll help you choose the plant pot and stand if you want it just let yourself browse. I still can't believe how expensive plants have gotten, but Covid has certainly given a boost to this industry I even broke my own rules about paying an exorbitant price ($22.00 for a 4"pot) because it was a plant I've been wanting to own again, and I want small businesses to survive. No bells and whistles here, just lots of beautiful greenery to enjoy and maybe purchase. read more

I found Urban Scout on Instagram and I'm so glad we dropped in for a visit!! If you're curious what's in stock, I can't recommend their instagram page enough! I love to watch them update every day with what new plants are in stock. They have a occupancy limit on the store which made us feel very safe. We only had to wait a few minutes before we got to go inside and explore all of the wonderful plants! The staff was incredibly friendly and incredibly helpful and pointed us to a few specific plants that fit our needs perfectly. She is very welcoming, easy to talk to, Puts off great energy , and will easily answer any of your questions and more with detail. She made us feel confident in buying the right plants and informing us of plant life itself. On top of all the beautiful plans,pots, wonderful smelling candles & other accessories, China was the highlight of the entire experience.
