Upon ordering, the food was ready within 5 minutes. Their prices are also very reasonable. The following are the items we tried. 1) Coleslaw: Bland and rather tasteless 2) Cornbread muffin: Bland and dry 3) Ribs: Decent ribs with good BBQ sauce, but not spectacular 4) Smoked Chicken: Out of this world delicious. Last year when we drove to Port Townsend we saw this BBQ place on the way into town but decided to eat elsewhere. This time around on our annual PT visit this was our eating destination. I own a smoker and have smoked a lot of brisket, ribs and pulled pork over the years. I like to check on how the pros do it and see how my stuff compares. Mo-Chilli BBQ is a small store with outdoor picnic table seating in a fenced in area. When you get our of your car the first thing that hits your nose is delightful smoke. In fact, there's a row of of professional smokers in a covered area adjacent to the store. We placed our order at the counter and our food was served quickly on two separate trays. I ordered the Brisket Plate (a half pound of sliced brisket--your choice if it's served on a slice of white bread or not) and chose Ranch-Style Beans as my side dish, It also came with pickle slices, sliced pickled Jalapeños and what tasted like sliced sweet onions. The brisket was very good. I prefer a bit more smoke but the meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. I could see the smoke ring nestled into the meat and bark. For the price of the plate serving it was a bargain. The Ranch-Style Beans were a letdown, a bit spicy but otherwise bland. I was hoping for more of a rich, slow-cooked sauce-based flavor. Still, the brisket was the star of the show, as it should be. The BBQ sauce on the side was a killer, among the best I've had. Don't know if it was storebought or housemade but it didn't matter, it was that good. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich Combo which was , which included the side of her choice (potato chips). A heaping pile of delightful saucy, smoky pulled pork was served on a round bun along with cole slaw and sliced pickles (she declined the pickled Jalapeños). She loved the sandwich and I had to agree based on the first bite she allowed me. Tender, juicy smoky pulled pork that was way up there with the best we had. My only critique was that when I wife allowed me to finish her sandwich, the cole slaw and what I thought was a little too much BBQ sauce had made the bun soggy. I still finished it but my preference was for a sandwich with less sauce. As my wife just told me, "Strangely, there were bits where there wasn't a lot of sauce. But I still really enjoyed it." We both agreed that we'll eat here again on our next visit. They have ribs and after brisket, I always gotta try the ribs. My wife will almost certainly order the Pulled Pork Sandwich Combo again. The best BBQ I've had in years. Tastes even better than some of the spots I've had back home (in Texas). The staff is really friendly and the patio is warm and comforting. They sell a great product at a low price (for BBQ). It will definitely be a spot I take friends and family to when they visit. If I could give this place a hundred stars I would. First, I used to live in Texas and I can truthfully say that Texas knows how to barbecue correctly! Mo-Chilli BBQ is the best Texas BBQ restaurant I have had the pleasure of patronizing since my time in Texas. These guys know how to barbecue. I regret I didn't take a picture but the smoke ring on the ribs and the brisket were a thing of beauty. We were in Port Townsend celebrating our anniversary and were on our way home and my husband knew I loved barbecue and he suggested we stop and get some food to take home so I wouldn't have to cook when we got there. I am so grateful he made that suggestion! We had the three item plate and the meat was a very generous serving for the price. That brisket melted in my mouth and the ribs were so tender but also had so much flavor! And even though I had to reheat the meat in the microwave, it was still tender and juicy! The gentleman that were behind the counter were awesome! Very friendly and didn't make me feel like I was rushed to make a decision even though there were people waiting. If you're in Port Townsend and you want to eat something other than seafood I highly recommend this establishment! My husband is in a wheelchair but because we were getting our food to go he didn't get out of the vehicle. I did not notice a wheelchair ramp, but I wasn't looking for one, so you might want to check that out before you go if you need ADA access. read more

BEST BBQ I've ever had and I've been many places all over the world!!!! A true culinary delight located right in Port Townsend. If you're looking for real delicious, flavorful and moist BBQ ... Look no further!!! I literally dream about the Smoked Prime Rib with the side fixings, and of course the world famous Carrot Cake with the cream cheese frosting!!!!! OMG It's so good that it sells out most weeks. BTW I wasn't even a carrot cake fan until I had their style of carrot cake. What does that tell ya? Everything I've tried has been stellar... The customer service is very personable and warm. They make you feel like you are part of the crew and make you feel extremely welcomed. Both of the owners are gems and wonderful people. Best part? As a born and raised Texan who has lived in Jefferson/Kitsap county area for a long time now - THANK YOU for existing here, Mo-Chilli!!! We've passed by many times on our trips out to port T and stopped in for the first time today 20 minutes before closing time. Staff was gracious and generous with portions, no issue at all with us coming in at the end of day. The place is clean and decorated really cool. There's even cushions on the picnic tables for comfort. The only meat left was pulled pork and it was perfect. Kids were full and happy. We will be back!! read more

Without question the best barbecue I've had in the state of Washington. Certainly the best west of the cascades from what I've seen. The pulled pork is tender and flavorful, the brisket is perfectly cooked for that nice fork cut with a good layer of fat, and the ribs...just perfection...tender falling off the bone with a little fat running through and absolutely massive size. The mac and cheese leaves a bit to be desired, but that's not the point. The cornbread is ok and the pecan pie squares are a good dessert. As for service, it's order at the counter, so just walk up and get it in no time at all. There's very little interior but plenty of tables outside for a nice day. Give yourself an excuse to tour Port Townsend or drop by on your way to Whidbey Island and get lunch here. It's the bbq you crave. Sorry I don't have pictures. Texas-style BBQ, the only real BBQ in town! Love their brisket, house-made links, and ribs. Fridays are honest-to-gawd Texas Chili days, totally worth it! Family run, only open Wed - Fri, and they close early, so plan ahead. Worth going out of your way for, and a perfect meal to pick up to go on your way to Ft Worden or the Port Townsend- Coupeville ferry. Gotta love it! read more

I have to say I am a little shocked that not many people post photos of this place. The only answer I have is probably the food look so good and can't wait to eat them. We enjoyed the great Texas style BBQ. The cuts of my brisket is thick and tender. The sides are delicious. The inside seatings are minimal but taste better to eat my BBQ outside anyway. They have picnic benches setup with giant umbrellas. While we are eating, many people stopped by to pick up their togos. This would definitely one of the stop we go in the future. read more

I would consider myself a generous yelper. This morning I went for a de-compression walk before a long drive and flight home. I stopped at this local gem when I saw breakfast tacos were offered. I ordered a pork breakfast taco with a salsa verde on the side for $4.50. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was super clean inside and out! I ate street side in their dining area, which again, was very clean. HOWEVER! None of that prepared me for the absolute deliciousness of the food! I swear, I saw my life pass before my eyes! It was the most incredible taco, burrito, sandwich I have ever eaten. We ate here for lunch today. We ordered 3/4 lb of their brisket. And a large side of beans. It was $34.50 out the door With a tip. The Beans and the brisket tasted very good. They know how to make Smokey flavorful brisket. However. We got four slices of brisket for the 3/4 of pound. And half of each slice was pure fat. Seriously pure fat. So for $34 we really got two slices of brisket and beans. Even with the price of product today that is not acceptable. read more

Stopped by Mo-Chilli while camping at the nearby Fort Worden Beach Campground. Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere! We also stopped by over a year ago when they were just a food truck and we were very impressed then as well... we've been excited about coming back ever since. The quality of smoked brisket and sides were top notch! Had the brisket plate with coleslaw and mac and cheese. The mac and slaw were extremely good and the bbq sauce amazing as well. Being huge bbq fans from KC and frequently traveling through Texas, we like to think we know good bbq, and Mo-Chilli is definitely producing some of the best bbq in the region. I don't know what the other people who left reviews for this place were smoking because I didn't see a pot shop here but my food sucked !!! One thin slice of brisket meatloaf that crumbled to a pile of grease that left a greasy residue on my teeth. The Mac and cheese was a dry tasteless disgusting mess that I threw away. My wife agreed that it was nasty. The ranch beans were also tasteless like out of a can. No seasonings at all I had to request salt and pepper. One slice of white bread. The best part was the pickles about 4 slices. Last of all and the worst was the ketchup they said was sauce. I felt like throwing the garbage at the imbeciles working behind the counter. Almost $50.00 for 2 small plates of garbage that was worse that leftovers. Well I've been there twice the first time and the last time. I had to brush twice to get the slim off my teeth. It's great. My bride had the half chicken, thinking it would be too much and she ate the whole thing. I did not get so much as a lick of bone. I had the prime rib sandwich. It was so good that I sent I should have sent a selfie to my cardiologist. The sides were excellent, especially the slaw; this place could make a go of it on just its cole-slaw...it's that good. Oh, the place is very clean; the bathroom is spotless! The staff are very concerned that you liked your food, so do let them know.
