Sirens was pretty nice overall, but a little chaotic admittedly? Nonetheless, the area and ambiance are ICONIC. I got a rec from my boss to check out port Townsend while on vacation around the Olympic peninsula, and this little town did not disappoint. Sirens is a pub/restaurant on the second floor of a historical looking building that overlooks the sound. There was a lot of seating available but nonetheless the place was PACKED. Parking was a little annoying too - despite it being a Tuesday night, we parked a few blocks over in front of a random other restaurant. Thankfully PM parking after 6p on weekdays seems to be free in most places. Of note a lot of other little shops in that downtown street area were closed by 7p when we came. This place though, as mentioned, was bustling. You seat yourself when you come in. There were maybe 2-3 servers for a rather BIG restaurant, so they weren't the fastest, but they were working really hard. We ordered a shepherds pie to share and my mom wanted a glass of the port tawny. The pie was quite good, not the best I've EVER had but it was piping hot and hearty. The port glass was quite small, but QUITE strong. Seems this place is quality over quantity. Menus are QR code based at the tables. You can sit inside or outside, and they had some low cushion chairs in the corner (like you'd see in an old office). I really liked the wall art in here too, it was eclectic. We landed at this charming little spot with outdoor seating and a view that made us briefly consider quitting our jobs to become full-time patio loungers. But first--we earned it. Why? Because we had to climb two flights of stairs to get there. That's right, a full-on cardio commitment just to reach the promise of Caesar salad and sunshine. By the time we reached the top, we were ready for a reward... or a defibrillator. We ordered a small Caesar salad, jerk chicken skewers, and jalapeño poppers--also known as the Holy Trinity of "we're not super hungry, but also we're not trying to make good decisions." The Caesar salad was crisp, cool, and clearly living its best life. It hit the spot while we sat next to the water, enjoying the gentle breeze and the not-so-gentle sound of seagulls screaming like they just found out brunch was extra. The jerk chicken skewers were flavorful with just the right amount of kick--spicy enough to wake up your taste buds, but not enough to send you into a life spiral. And the jalapeño poppers? Smoky, grilled, and dramatic--like little peppers that had just survived a fire and came out tastier for it. This is an over 21 establishment which is well noted with multiple signs and is upstairs of a building. Came in for dinner on a Saturday night with a couple of friends. The service was great and generous. I noticed a lipstick print on my cup. When I asked for a new cup, they gave me a new water and a souvenir glass cup to take home. Completely unexpected and such a generous gesture. The salad was fresh and tasty. It was not overly dressed which is how I prefer it. I recommend the calamari appetizer. This place was A-OK in the beautiful and cute little town of Port Townsend. Due to it's convenience as one of the long time waterfront bars and restaurants, they take some things for granted like service and pricing. I bought a $22 burger there and $12 well vodka sodas. They do have nice seating outside that looks out at the water and I guess that is what you are paying for. Like I said. The place is A-OK and would probably pay another visit. read more

It is located up 2 flights of stairs and is a 21 and over spot. The place has some great views if you can catch one of those tables. Our server was friendly and not rushing us in anyway. The clam chowder was thick and decent, it could have gone for a little salt... oyster crackers to save the day! The fish and chips were decent as well. The fries were by far my favorite thing I had. Hot and super crispy. The coleslaw I would pass on and unfortunately for me, someone who doesn't like a lot of mixing of my food, the fries definitely got assaulted from the slaw soup. Love. Love this place! You should visit it whenever you're in the mood for a nice date night or afternoon away from the kids. It's also setup for large gatherings and the service is always good. The building is a very old multi story Victorian that has so much of the charm as does the town of PT. For those who decide to live in one of the renovated buildings such as this one, you better do your homework before committing yourself. Or just get over it and appreciate what you've got and live with your decision.This town has been around a lot longer than most of us and it's the character and charm that brings us the magic. A day trip/visit to Port Townsend? Try this place! Surprised it was 3.5 stars overall. Have been craving seafood and saw that this restaurant had some. It wasn't until today that I took a good look at the menu and saw a wide variety of items! I thought, "YES, let's eat here!" The way to the restaurant is up the steps and around as there a couple of shops you'd pass on your way inside. Once you arrive, "please sit yourself down" (as what their sign says). We proceeded to sit outside with the view and got lucky cuz most of the seats were either away from the view or tight and we got the middle! FYI -- water is self serve. Our waitress was attentive and their staff had all smiles! To satisfy my seafood kick, the steamed clams and the ahi tuna club burger sounded good! They were excellent -- the steamed clams had a broth that had a bit of sweet chili sauce followed by garlic and parsley. The clams were tender, NOT chewy like other places. I'd say these were the best clams, along with crusty bread I've ever had!! Their ahi tuna club hit the spot too with the French fries. My bf had the lasagna and he appreciated the sliced square tiny carrots that came along with it! We've never seen that in lasagna before and liked it. We sat on the patio and our server was prompt and friendly. We started with a gimlet, a PT scotch ale, and an order of the fried osyters. The drinks were tasty and the fried oysters were great: Light panko breading with a fantastic cocktail sauce (you could see the horseradish). For lunch we ordered the fish and chips and a crab cake sandwich. Both were very good. The crab cakes were much thicker than anticipated and well worth ordering. The tartar sauce was a good dill/lemon combo. The slaw was light and not oversauced. The fish wasn't soggy and the battering was light. The food and drinks were very good and the women working there were absolutely lovely. I however had an extremely unprofessional interaction with the male bartender/busser tonight while out with my partner and our friend. We were visiting from college and don't make a lot of money but were wanting to go out and have a few drinks before we leave town. The bill was more than expected and since my partner was going to pay for both of us, I was going to give a cash tip as we walked out. My partner added a very small tip anyway, and when the bartender noticed, called him out in front of both myself and our friend for not leaving a larger one. He tried to explain that "I'm sorry, I'm kind of broke" but the server was extremely rude and said "then don't go out." And was making a small scene in the dining room as he was walking away. Safe to say, they did not get that extra tip from me. I understand being frustrated about not receiving a large tip, but taking that out on young customers is completely unprofessional and uncalled for. I hope this establishment does better and if you were the lovely woman who was working tonight and the night prior, I would love to give you an individual tip or take you out for a drink myself. read more

Then came the crisis we all were dragged into: "the computers are down " loudly from a waitress rushing through, telling us all this- what was the point? We can't bill you (we had not even eaten). It had a very "white rabbit- I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date" vibe that sucked the relaxation out of the experience. Then finally the "THE COMPUTERS ARE BACK ONLINE" rush through. Still, there was no check on how was our food, did we want anything else? We'd had appetizers and chowder, I guess that's all we were allowed. This is a classic example of a business forgetting what we're paying for- nice food, a good atmosphere, a beautiful view. If you want to interrupt that with statuses on computers, tell us why: will we need to go get cash to pay? The food was okay- chowder was good tasting, egg rolls tasted good but very greasy inside. House salad decent. When you go to pay (we had to hunt someone down for a bill) the lowest offered tip is 18% unless you want to do "custom" while they stare you down. I'm not a fan of machines prompting this high, especially when service is so lacking. Unbelievable meal. The weather was perfect out on the patio overlooking the ocean, servers were incredibly kind. For appetizers we got the steamed clams which were seriously unbelievable. Sweeter than I thought it was gonna be but in the most delightful way. My friend and I sucked those puppies down so quickly and moaning the entire time with sweet sweet juices runnin down our chins and fingers. Did we get funny looks? I don't know and I don't care, I was busy paying attention to those gorgeous mollusks covered in garlic and tomatoes. We also ordered the fried oysters which were also wonderfully crunchy and delicious. I prefer a different sauce with my oysters but nice nonetheless. For our entre, we split the Goat & I burger and the bacon jam paired the goat cheese on ciabatta was a magnificent crescendo to end our meal fantastic crispy fries. we strutted back down the stairs from whence we came with pants unbuttoned and eyes glazed over in a seafood haze. Oh man. The best thing about this place is the view. We came on a weeknight and we were there for a few hours. We had to go to the bar after 10 minutes of waiting, just to check on our INITIAL drink order. Once going up to the bar, beers were poured and carried back by my friend. There were 3 tables of people we watched come in, sit down, not receive any service in 5-10 minutes, so they ended up leaving! We saw the waitress/waiter maybe 3-4 times over a 2:30/3 hour period. No apologies for the wait or any explanation as to why the lack of service. The salmon was burnt. The clam chowder had an interesting taste, it was kinda sweet. This unique establishment came highly recommended by locals we spoke to. As it was Fat Tuesday there were festive New Orleans type specials including gumbo. We opted for the crab cake sandwich, and the special Cuban style pulled pork. Both came very quickly accompanied with some of the crunchiest yet tasty fries I could ever hope to eat. I like my food to arrive quickly like the next person however the second and third bites of my initially delicious crab cake fare were a bit tepid. Other then that the flavoring was nicely spiced with a bit of diced tomato almost like a salsa. The Ciabatta roll was perfectly grilled. No extra seasoning or any sort required with the exception of a little bit of ketchup for the yummy fries. The Cuban pulled pork was messy yet tasty according to my husband. Extra napkins required. I would love to have been able to return for the Brass Band playing this evening with the name "The Unexpected Brass Band" what could be more fun. Yet we have an early flight out in the morning. The ambience is festive and the decor is fun (see photos). We would have sat on the deck for the wonderful view of the bay, if it had been a tad warmer; next time we come to Port Townsend perhaps. I've been here a few times and I keep hoping it'll be better. I really like that it's 21 & over. The cocktails are great. The servers are hustling - no one is ever standing around. I appreciate the self-serve water stations. I like the view and the games available. The atmosphere is relaxed. My 3-stars pertain to the food. Sometimes great and sometimes not so great. I was there (for my 3rd visit) a week ago with my sister. We got the crab cakes for an app and they were cold in the middle. That was really disappointing. We also got the Bacon Jam and Brussels flat bread. There was something off - I don't know if it was the bacon jam or the goat cheese or the brussel sprouts - something just wasn't right. Intrigued we went upstairs and found this cool place to have a drink and a bite to eat. The ambiance was just what we need with some reggae playing and some views of the sound.
