Great little sushi place in the heart of McLean. Super cozy vibes, sushi is great, no issues with the quality or taste of the food. I always get the Yaki Maki roll which is cooked and it's really yummy. Their udon is pipping hot and great on a cold winter night. The staff is super nice, they are a smaller group but very homey vibe.

About a 2-2.5: It's been a while since I've been to Miyagi; because I was in the area, I've decided to try them out for lunch. I ordered the Sushi & Sashimi Combo, under their lunch specials - this came with tuna, salmon, shrimp nigiri (it also stated 'crab', but this was not included); tuna, salmon, white fish, and octopus sashimi, and 3 pieces of California roll. The nigiri was fine, but the rice wasn't prepared well in which it just fell apart easily. The sashimi could have been more fresh; the octopus had a fishy smell to it, which was pretty unappetizing. The California roll was okay, but again, the rice wasn't prepared well that it fell apart easily. Miso soup was served with, which was piping hot and a great way to start off the meal. You also are asked if you want low-sodium or regular soy sauce, which I thought was a nice touch. Service was friendly, but a little absent-minded; I had to request water. Note that the restaurant doesn't have a website, so the menu and the prices does not reflect the current pricing you'll be paying (about a 40% mark-up). I felt you're not really getting the value for the meal. Plenty of free parking in the area. +not-so-fresh sashimi +friendly service

Eel nigiri and spicy eel and tuna roll!!

This was my first time having the Spicy Eel And Tuna Roll but I loved it and will definitely order again! The eel nigiri is amazing, everyone in my family LOVES it. I would suggest starting with 2 orders (as shown in the pic) as you will definitely want more! The waiter is an older man and woman who are so sweet! They are always bringing around water when we need, offering suggestions, and being overall super nice. I def recommend to come here with family, friends, or by yourself!!!

Better remember what you ordered and how much it cost because the bill is not itemized.

Disappointing food in our first visit to Miyagi. Sushi was watery, like it has not been stored properly. The spicy salmon was little bits instead of big chunks. The chicken teriyaki was over cooked little pieces (the accompanying bit of broccoli and carrots were good, but ice cold). Service was ok. Lastly, you had better remember what you ordered and how much it cost because the bill is not itemized!

I found this place a bit too late after living in Mclean for seven years and being within walking distance to this shop. Pretty sure it was owned or at least operated by Korean Americans, but the food quality is on spot. I think their party platters, especially the Sushi and Sashimi platter for $160 might be the best value in town, with all legit Nigiris, Sashimi pieces and a good variety of rolls as well, more than enough for a family of four.

Small, cozy, clean. Sushi is always fresh. Service can be rather serious-faced, but they have always been friendly and helpful to us.

Well, you got my vote and my loyalty. Place itself is not impressive and service is nice, but not superb. So,I thought on 4 stars, but this food... Wasabi - made in the house, soy sauce- made in the house by chef recipes. Soy sauce is home made!!!! Thick ,complex, tangy and not salty, amazing!!! I ordered sashimi combo this time and it's served with not white lousy rice, but takikomi gohan( please try it). This is one of the most complex flavor combinations in rice I ever had. I felt dashi broth, mirin, tons of veggies and even beans. Sooo nicely served with fish cake flowers on top. Sashimi itself was outstanding, fish selection was excellent, with scallops, squid and freshest cuts of fishes. Previous times I tried rolls and it was amazing as well. So,prices are high, this is not sushi eatery where you can casually grab your lunch. But if you feel like you want artistic style and refined food,or just want to celebrate yourself, this one s the place to indulge and enjoy!

Now...I'm not sure if I was supposed to wait a certain amount of time before I ate after a cleaning...but I didn't! lol. I was so hungry and was in the mood for sushi. Being a big foodie as I am I love finding new restaurants to try and this was did not disappoint! Parking was easy they had some right in the front of the restaurant reserved for customers as well as a garage for more parking spaces if it got crowded. Walking inside it is a small cozy space and because I was by myself I was seated at the sushi bar. I told the sushi maker my food order and the waitress my order for wine. I tried the Merlot and Pinot noir which the merlot was so luscious I got another glass. So my order was fries shrimp shumai, Ile yellowtail combo which came with a yellow tail sashimi, spicy yellow tail roll I added cream cheese, and yellowtail nigiri. So fresh and so pretty how it came out! Aesthetically pleasing top notch! They gave me a few freebies seaweed salad and edamame and a side dish of pickled condiments very tasty. So being the big back that I am I ordered more to go and it was the Ile salmon combo and substituted spicy salmon roll with spicy tuna roll add cream cheese. I really loved how they package the to go order kept my sushi fresh until it the next day. I will definitely stop here again after the dentist...lol.

For a sushi or bento box meal, a good miso soup is a must. *The box was tiny: I expect to be full when I consume a bento box. Sho's was much smaller than what most Japanese restaurants serve in the DMV area. *Kara age is certainly not their forte and was one of the worse ones I've had in this area Additionally, they only sell a $12 large pot of hot tea for a group, and I was surprised. They should serve a single cup size for solo diners or for a party of 2. I got an eel avocado roll to be full after finishing my bento box. Modan: A Pleasant Modern Japanese Lunch…read more Tucked into a prime Tysons location, Modan makes a polished first impression with its sleek, modern décor and attentive service. Its $30 three-course prix fixe lunch is designed as an approachable introduction to the restaurant's modern Japanese cooking. Started with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and Salmon Carpaccio--both quite fine, with distinctly different textures and a clever Japanese sensibility. The Filet Mignon with truffle sauce was tender and nicely cooked, with a subtle ponzu-like Japanese accent. The truffle presence, however, was rather restrained--almost playing hide-and-seek on the plate. The added sashimi plate was above average: the fish was fresh and well handled, though not necessarily more distinctive than what one might find at other good Japanese restaurants. Dessert was equally pleasant: the mochi and gelato were both above average without being particularly revelatory. Overall, Modan delivers a polished, enjoyable lunch experience. I liked it--and would happily return to explore more of the menu.

There wasn't even enough information on what all was to be offered, nor what entree selection there would be. I reached out via social media to ask but never got a response. In a sense, you're going in blindly not knowing what to expect. I've never been here, so I figured, if it's good, I'll come back for dinner. The place is clean, modern, has clean bathroom which is always a plus. Negative is the parking situation, which is common in that area. The chair's were the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in. The back support is so low, when you lean back to feels like its going to snap your spine in half. I couldn't even lean back as a result. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth anywhere near the $95 price tag. I don't eat fried foods, which made up most of the starters. The rolls were underwhelming, the nigiri was decent but there was only 4 options, shrimp, salmon, tuna, yellow tail. How many of those can you keep eating before it gets boring. The oyster's were very good. The wagyu dumpling I didn't eat due to being fried but they super gimmicky. One of those instagram foods that looks good on camera but doesn't deliver. Those who did eat them said they were not good. I couldn't wrap my head around how small the main entree portions were. It was like 1 big bite or 2 small bites. The positive was they kept refreshing all the food keeping it fresh. End of the day, I walked out unsatisfied, feeling like I got ripped off. It is what it is, not good enough that I would come back.
