When visiting San Fran, I looked on Yelp for "salads" and was pleasantly surprised to find Mixt within a few minute walk of my hotel. When I arrived, I was excited about their large menu of signature salads or the possibility of building your own. I went for a signature salad for my first visit and was so glad that I did. I was totally shocked when they finished the salad because it was HUGE. It would definitely be big enough for two people to share or for two meals. I had the Ritual Salad and it was about $15 and was so generous and healthy and fresh. The salad included arugula, cabbage, marinated hodo soy tofu, brown + black rice, avocado, spicy peanuts, mango, carrots, cucumbers, scallions, carrot ginger dressing. Literally every salad on the menu sounded awesome and creative. The employees at Mixt were very helpful and patient with me as I made a selection. The view from this location was also pretty awesome. I think the Yerba Buena location is currently one of the few that has market plates. Mixt is known for having amaaazing salads, but I decided to go with the market plate. I chose grilled Columbia river steelhead, chimichurri for my sauce, and mashed sweet potatoes and roasted maple cinnamon acorn squash with pumpkin goddess drizzle and toasted pumpkin seed topping (seasonal) for my two market sides The steelhead was cooked really nicely!! It came with the skin on at the bottom, and it had just the right texture. I think the fish might've gone better with the miso ginger glaze...but I'm a sucker for anything made with cilantro, so I didn't even give it a second thought. I think it was a good thing that the worker asked if I wanted the chimichurri on the side because I found it to be WAAAYYY too oily. I don't think I would've been able to eat the fish had it been doused in the sauce. The mashed sweet potatoes were really, really, really good!! But as I kept eating, I kinda got tired of the taste, and it got to be a little too much...a little too sweet, but it is a sweet potato...nonetheless, delicious and full of flavor!! I can see why this is such a popular side choice. I was a hugeee fan of the roasted maple cinnamon acorn squash!! It came topped with a generous amount of a super creamy, flavorful, sweet pumpkin sauce drizzle, and the toasted pumpkin seeds were a really nice touch!! I am a sucker for autumnal vibin' foods, and this definitely did not fail to impress!! I also got a cup of the kombucha they had on tap. The day I went, it was Revive's Free Ride, a flavor that's naturally sweetened by hibiscus flowers. I LOOOVE kombucha, and Revive is one of my favorite brands!! YUMMY!! Bottom line: Kinda REALLY pricy...I think I ended up spending ~$20 on this meal. But it is hipster bougie health food in SF, so can you really expect anything else?? This Mixt location is located conveniently near union square and offers delicious salads, bowls, and market plates. The line gets pretty long during lunch time but it moves pretty quickly. They have many salad options to choose from or you could build your own. If you're not feeling a salad, you could have a healthy market plate instead with your choice of protein and sides. As for drinks, they have many options from iced teas and kombucha to wine and beer. I tried the fusion salad and a market plate: Fusion salad - just looking at this colorful salad will make you want to eat it. I've been a Mixt customer @ Yerba Buena for the last 8-9 months and, as of recent, the service has become incredibly top notch! In the past, there were some issues - missing toppings to my salads, long wait time for my order (after ordering online). However, these last few months, my salads were always ready on time, if not early, with a perfect amount of ingredients - and I truly appreciate that! It comes down to the manager. Basically I use the rewards program ( sign up) and me and the cashier accidentally hit redeem your 10 dollar reward but I already ordered that day. I talked to Gisselle and she took my info and said just come back and she would make sure I got my 10 dollar reward. The opposing argument is that you can have a singularly poor experience sufficient for a post. I hold with the latter. In this case, MIXT's review is focussed on its grain bowl. For starters, it's not a grain bowl. In order for it to be a grain bowl, the predominating ingredient should be... well... grain. MIXT's grain bowl is a salad sprinkled with grains. I took my meal and showed it to a few strangers asking simply, is this a grain bowl or a salad? Not a single person thought it was a bowl. Where I expected a hearty meal with rice and vegetables, they delivered a light salad with small strips of potatoes to ornament the dish like a garnish. And even if I had wanted a salad, it still wouldn't have been very good, my friends. As a vegetarian, I am thrilled to see new food choices coming online, especially those promoting greens. I don't recall the menu stating the price for protein so if you're concerned I'd ask while you're putting your salad together what the cost is. Convenient location and some variety of foods on the menu. Seating inside can be difficult to find when it's crowded. Good for families looking for healthy food options, but a bit pricey for an average family's budget. Mixt is similar to Sweetgreens and just as uppity + pricey. This is a Chipotle style restaurant where you can pick premade or custom salads. It's pretty pricey around 12-14$ for a salad. I would come here if I was really craving salad, and I was feeling too lazy to make it myself, and I was feeling like blowing 15$ (which could make you 5 salads at a grocery store). The really irritating part was they ran out of two ingredients for my premade salad, but they didn't bother to tell me until half way through the process. They ran out of mango and pea sprouts. When I asked the lady what a good substitute for the mangos would be, she told me cabbage! Can imagine telling anyone with a straight face that cabbage is a good substitute for mango? A spinach and romaine lettuce salad with chicken, the five add-ons, and caesar dressing (with Chipotle ranch) ran me about $13. Little pricey, but after sitting down and eating, I couldn't complain. The chicken tasted fresh and tender, and the greens were nice and crunchy. The inside is visually so pleasing, super minimalist tables with alternative and classics playing in the background. Mixt is another one of those salad joints in SF. If you haven't been here yet, and you enjoy salads, then make your way because it's one of those places that it seems like everyone has tried before. On the other hand, if you're all saladed out like myself (I went through a salad phase and came out sick of it), then you should try some of their dinner plates which I don't really know when they started serving but I've been enjoying it as an alternative healthy option. I've lately been getting the dinner plate and filling it up with sliced chicken + sweet potato + quinoa combo. They ask you what meat and sides you want and that's what I choose. When I do get salads, I probably get the Cowboy. Tbh I haven't really tried many of the other salads but the Cowboy was delicious when I first tried it, and I just stuck to my guns. read more

Mixt has a few locations throughout SF and the Yerba Buena opening is a good addition to the area. I ordered the Caesar salad (9.95, 12.95 if you add grilled chicken) and it's sizable for lunch. The salads are fresh, colorful, and aesthetically pleasing (always important), and the location itself is both convenient and clean. I went during peak lunch hours and it wasn't too crowded, probably because it's a newer location. It took me about five minutes to order and pay. There's a stack of paper menus before you enter but no menu inside the actual restaurant, so make sure to persue the menu prior to standing in line. It is slightly pricey if you order meat, but the vegetarian options are fairly priced, and nothing unreasonable for SF. The Yerba Buena location is not too far from the FiDi location, but I prefer Yerba Buena since it's roomy and there's a lot of light. Definitely a good location for lunch! read more

The Bachelor is my favorite salad and this is the second time I've gone and they didn't tell me before making the salad that they didn't have everything. this is the kind of place when you want a heap of greens with minimal toppings. i had the santorini, which was essentially a ton of arugula, some kale, a few cubes of tomato, a couple slices of cucumber, and a handful of radish bits. somehow it sounded 23403x more interesting on the menu than in actuality. the dressing was super tart, even for someone who likes acidic dressings. my friends had the summer and elote, both of which i liked better than the santorini, but even then, would not recommend unless you aren't a toppings person. if you do want a lot of toppings, i'd recommend sweetgreen over mixt any day. read more
