After driving by many times, I had a hankering for bbq and wanted to try. The pork rinds were lights-out delicious! Great crunch and seasoning. The kimchi sauce was tasty! Not too strong but complimented the flavor of the rinds well. The smoked wings were okay. Not much of a smoked flavor and they were small. A little disappointed in these. I also got a beet salad, which was very good. I loved the candied walnuts, and of course, the beets. I've had pulled pork from here and it was also fantastic. Okay, I love BBQ, and so I really wanted this place to be great. It's close to me, and came highly recommended (friends and Yelp). Unfortunately, my experience was not great...not totally awful, but there is lots of room for improvement. I stopped in around 1:00 on a Saturday, and it was still kind of hard to park in their tiny lot. To a person, the staff all seemed annoyed to be there, and that kind of flavored my experience. They have lots of interesting items on their menu for a BBQ place - pork buns, etc. - but for my first meal I went with the basics. I ordered a brisket sandwich, the mac-n-cheese, and a coke. I was given a number to put on my table, and then sat down. The sandwich was soon delivered, but no side. When I asked about my mac-n-cheese I was told "it's coming later" in a less than friendly tone. The brisket was a bit dry and chewy, and there was nothing else on the sandwich. The mac-n-cheese was far less impressive. This was not a scoop of grandma's baked goodness, but something more institutional...basically boiled pasta with a bland and watery sauce. The meat was slightly tough and NOT fall-off-the-bone tender, but the sauce tasted good. Chicken thigh - 4 stars - This chicken was cooked and seasoned well. Sausage link - 3 stars - My husband ordered a non-spicy sausage, but this sausage actually tasted spicy. Smoked pork-belly buns - 5 stars - We received two of these. The buns were steamed perfectly, and the pork belly had a tender center and crispy exterior. We enjoyed the mixture of sweet, sour, salty, and fatty flavors. I always order these pork-belly buns. Pork BBQ sandwich - 3.5 stars - This sandwich was a large size. It had a nicely crispy bun and decent flavors, but it contained a large chunk of something hard (cartilage?). Ramen - 2.5 stars - Yes, Mitch's offers some Asian-inspired foods! This ramen soup came in a large bowl. The noodles were cooked well, and I chose a meat of pork belly. Unfortunately, the broth tasted very differently than what Japanese restaurants serve, and I would not order this ramen again. Potato salad - 4.5 stars - I very much enjoyed the ingredients and flavors of this potato salad. Sweet potato cornbread - 3.5 stars - This bread was fresh, and it tasted spicy. Mitch's BBQ is great. I've eaten here a few times and tried a variety of things. I've also ordered catering from them as well. My go-to is their brisket tacos. Amazing BBQ I have wanted to try this place for quite a while so this weekend we had plans to go and oh boy why did we wait so long! We went with 3 of us it was so delicious. The staff is excellent as we walked in there was a lady that helped us with the menu. I had the Brisket Tacos you get two in a order you can choose other meat for your tacos but I chose Brisket it was hands down the best Tacos I have ever had in my life I truly can't wait to go back. My Dad had the BBQ pork sandwich and my husband had Brisket sandwich they both enjoyed them and said they were delicious too. My husband and I traveled to Austin and Dallas last year on a mission to try all of the best Texas BBQ in the country, so naturally after trying the best of the best, I didn't have super high expectations for something local in Pittsburgh, but Mitch's surprised me in the best way possible. Their brisket is LEGIT! Their Mac n cheese is my favorite ever, and don't even get me started on their street corn and brisket tacos - they share the same spicy cilantro sauce that is to die for! So yeah you could say I'm a fan. We have visited several times and tried many different menu items but one thing remains the same - we always grab an order of brisket tacos and a side of Mac n cheese. It will never go to waste! But the sauce here is gross too. As for my resulting illness, I blame the chicken. It had obviously been sitting out for a while, and after the first bite, I noticed it just seemed off. Mitch's is our favorite BBQ rib place! They are serving up some incredible baby back ribs, sides, and homemade ice creams in addition to brisket or short rib ramen bowls. Yeah, I know, right?! Delicious food and very skillfully prepared. You can order their delicious ribs by the rack, 1/2 rack or by the bone. We burst out laughing when they brought our two full orders of ribs over. It was like the opening to The Flintstones when the brontosaurus they ordered tips their car over. Try their Korn ice cream i'd you're not stuffed to the hills. While this region is not the most well known for BBQ, Mitch'a seems be to be doing it the right way. It stacks up pretty well against some of the BBQ I've had elsewhere in the country, including the South. I ordered ribs with a side of mac to eat in their restaurant and ordered some brisket, pork buns, and their pork ramen to take home and share with my wife. The ribs were excellent, perfect tenderness but not falling apart and mushy. They definitely know what they are doing with ribs. The brisket was of the same high quality with all of the classic characteristics of good BBQ. The ramen was tasty and a unique twist for a BBQ joint. I thought it was very well made and all of the components complemented each other well. However, the pork buns were not very enjoyable for me. They had some kind of pickle on them which I did not realize when I ordered. Also, the sauce on the meat was a bit too tangy for me. It may just be my unique preferences, so your mileage may vary. On the way in, you'll walk past they're huge BBQ rig and through the front door into their small dining room. You'll order at the counter whether you are eating in or taking out. Service was timely, though don't expect to get your food without at least some waiting. They bitterly are smoking outside & smells so good. We ventured in to a friendly, warm place. We decide on the pork tacos. 2 for 10.00, amazing & loaded with pork. The coleslaw & pickles gave it a great flavor. The Mac & cheese was creamy and flavorful with cheese. The beans had a great flavor but I couldn't tell if there was tomato's in them or not. Not pictured is the sweet potato cornbread - that and the smoked pork belly steamed buns were my favorite. Very impressed by the food, service, and just a very good overall experience. I didn't expect that much seating capacity as the place looked small but they have ample seating inside and some tables outside as well. Place was suggested by my mom and she's someone who is very particular about food. And she loves this place. We ordered a few things and liked all of them-Brisket, Pork Belly, Pork rinds, pork bun, coleslaw, potato salad, and Mac n cheese. All were very yummy. Meat was cooked just right. This was our first visit at Mitch's. We've driven by it a bunch, yet always seemed like a catering hub. No longer. Their restaurant is huge with seating everywhere. And, it was busy. I'm telling you that no matter what you pick from the menu, you will be so happy you got it. One time I went back 4 times in one week because I had to keep trying new things that were all mouth watering good. Service is fast too. Whether you're dining in person or getting takeout, don't plan on waiting longer than 10 minutes. So far I've tried the pork belly ramen, brisket tacos, and pork bbq sandwich and they are all incredible. My favorite side is the mac and cheese. Hadn't been to Mitch's BBQ since pre-covid. We were happy to be back. The food was just as delicious as it was 3 years ago. My mom had the brisket sandwich and it was just as good as it was three years ago. It was juicy, tender and flavorful. My husband and I had the brisket buns. We love bao buns which are Korean buns with different kinds of meats. We love the consistency of the wrapper and of course the brisket was still juicy and flavorful. I tried the street corn which was really good but a bit different than Mexican Street Corn. My husband really liked the sweet potato cornbread. It was soft and moist. It takes awhile for the food to come out so I suggest ordering ahead of when you predict you will be ready to eat. The service was good overall. Honestly, wish I would have come here sooner as this place is great inside and has an overflow of character (in all the right ways). I'm not the biggest BBQ guy in the world, but enjoyed my dinner here along with their reasonable prices. Couple things worth noting: 1.) They have some organization issues in their kitchen with properly pulling together your meal in a proper fashion (aka quick and correct). Seems like something they can sort out! 2.) 6PM on a Saturday and they were sold out of ribs and sausage. This could me a normal occurrence, but as a first time visitor I was disappointed as it was the two items I wanted to try. I had the pork bbq sandwich loved it!! Especially the crunch of the toasted bun! I was not a fan of the coleslaw, it wasn't chopped up enough and I had to really mix it up because all the moisture was at the bottom. Portion size for it was just right for me. Would not get the slaw again but maybe another side because this bbq was yummy and warm/comforting filling. I did try the noodles in the ramen but I was not a fan of the broth, it reminded me of Campbells chicken noodle soup. The mac & cheese looked alright. Will be back for the meats certainly!!
