The chicken and pork are excellent!! I loved the pepper on the chicken, and my pork was so tender. My beans were a great side-- full of good flavor. What was really a surprise was the sauce of the month, which was coffee flavored. The coffee - which is my favorite drink -- was not overbearing. Went to play trivia on Thursday night. At 6:45 they were running out of tables and starting to give high tops. We got their combo with 2 meats and sides and felt that was enough food so that we weren't stuffing ourselves. We tried the chicken and the brisket. Brisket was good and moist but the chicken was a bit dry. They have us 4 cups of sauces and we really liked that idea. One was a fall flavor called pumpkin, so they had a seasonal flavor (but to be honest, I didn't really feel any pumpkin). Trivia started on time and I was happy with both the host and the kinds of questions in the trivia, good mix of variety of topics. Hope to go back again some time! read more

Great little place that is kinda hidden in a small plaza heading out of town. Glad I stopped here with a friend. I had 'Dude Where's My Fog' and 'Wrong Doug' both IPA's which were both acceptable brews but nothing distinct, both hazy NE style brews. The pumpkin beer that I had a taste of was not great to me as I did not care for the spice combination that was used. The beer flavors are why I would only give this a 4 rating. They have local wine, ciders and seltzers. The food that my friend and I had was fantastic! I had the Cajun chicken egg roll which was bursting with flavor and a nice sized serving My friend had a Smokehouse Cuban and said it was fantastic. I go to a trivia night every week and this week the semi-finals were held here. I got there at 7:15. It took an hour and a half to get our food. I understand they were busy, it was packed. But the server didn't even come to see if we wanted to order for about 45 minutes. No one apologized for the delay until the very end of the night when I said it was a horrible experience. After all of that my food wasn't that good. We weren't the only table to experience this. Clearly the place wasn't capable of taking care of that many tables. The owner never should have agreed to host the event. The fact that they did tells me they didn't care much about the customers or their servers. My family and I came here twice, both for a trivia league we play in. Let me start by saying we will never be back. We arrived early to the event so we could get food and drinks by the time it was time for trivia to start. The waitress didn't approach us to ask for drinks until 15 minutes after we had sat down. We wanted to order our food while ordering the drinks. She told us we could not and walked away. Our drinks took a while, but they came. About 25-40 minutes after we ordered our drinks, our waitress finally came over for us to order our dinner. We had previously tried to order food, but she wouldn't acknowledge us. She took our order and never visited our table again. Our food took over an hour and a half to come to our table. The food is also pretty bad...especially the mac and cheese! The manager tried to be accommodating to us by giving a percentage off of our bill and reassuring us there was a problem with their system. My husband and I had been wanting to try out Back Home BBQ for awhile and finally had a chance to visit. The "smokifried" wings were amazing -- the portion was great for the price and they were served with their homemade BBQ sauce and ranch. My husband and I both got platters with brisket and smoked turkey. The turkey was dry rubbed and served with a cranberry BBQ sauce -- it was my favorite and I'd get a double portion of it next time. My husband loved his sides -- Cole slaw and French fries. I had the mac and cheese and Mexican street corn, which were also good! Service was excellent and personable. We had the Beast Feast to share between my husband and I. We enjoyed everything on the platter. The wings were crispy just the way we like them. The brisket was very tender. The pulled chicken and pork were a little dry but with sauce tasted great. The ribs were excellent and smoky. Enjoyed the baked beans, not traditional but they were good. We picked Back Home BBQ to cater our son's graduation party. Tyler was very easy to work with. Helped us pick the menu based on number of people we were expecting (we had 60+ attend). We could change things up to 4 days prior to the party so that made it very flexible. All the food was outstanding. Brisket was the biggest hit but pulled pork and Mac and Cheese also excellent. We stopped here for the first time yesterday. It's not far from Evans City in a small strip mall. We were surprised at the quality of the food and the craft beer. I had the tacos, and my friend had a sandwich. Both were great. The kale salad and the corn bread were exceptional. In addition, they provide a selection of sauces at the table, and these were also exceptional. We also liked their craft beers. Interestingly, if you purchase craft beer to go at a microbrewery, this place stands out. They literally fill the can from the draft spigot and seal the can. If you want fresh craft beer, there is not a better way to get it. I highly recommend you try this place. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Fried pickles were definitely homemade. From the pickling up. They didn't have too much batter, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The beer options were nice. A bit for everyone with changing options. We ordered Sammie's - pork & brisket. Meats were cold but hope it was a one time off thing. The brisket did have a nice smoke ring to it. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other 1 star reviews. I had the brisket cheesesteak and was very disappointed. The brisket was just OK but was buried under a huge pile of lettuce and tomato. The roll it was on was not fresh--quite dry & stale. The queso was nothing special and the barbecue sauce was straight out of the fridge cold and the consistency of water. I would have loved to bring these issues to the attention of management in a timely fashion, but the waitress didn't return to check on me until I was finished eating--they were not busy and this level of service is inexcusable. I did tell her about the issues with the roll which I couldn't eat--but she didn't seem to care. There is better BBQ in the area! read more

When you pull up to a BBQ shop you expect to see or smell a smoker outside. Not here, they must use an electric smoker of some sort to try and get the job done. Gave this place a try last night and had a great experience! It was a busy Saturday evening and we arrived right at dinner time. The place was busy with a full bar and some folks ahead of us at the door. Despite the crowd, the hostess gave us a choice of tables and we picked one a bit away from the live music that was about to start. We had a little wait after being seated which gave us a chance to peruse the draft list and menu. They have about ten in-house beers with a good variety from lager to stout so something for everyone. They do flights of four which allowed me to sample a few and also let my wife taste one before ordering a glass. My favorite was the Appalachian Pale ale. We got the Buffalo chicken dip to share with the table which was great. I ordered a platter which allowed choice of two meats and two sides. The ribs were amazing with meat falling off the bone! Beans and Mac and cheese on the side tasted as good as they looked. The owner/pit-master came over to check on us and shared a bit about the origin and setup. They have a brand new tanking system onsite. This is a real family business and we are already looking forward to our next visit. $60 for 2 you pick 3 meals. Mac and cheese was inedible, the cheese wasn't creamy, but clumped around the noodles, it was inedible because it was oddly spicy too. The potato soup smelled like vomit but tasted okay. The ribs were almost inedible as they were so tough, also had a ton of big pepper seasonings on it, however the Smokey flavor was okay. The pulled pork was okay. I liked the brisket other that having up pick off a ton of fat from it. Overall more aggravation/ waste than enjoyment and I was looking forward to a big comforting meal of tender meat. read more
