Went to play trivia on Thursday night. At 6:45 they were running out of tables and starting to give high tops. We got their combo with 2 meats and sides and felt that was enough food so that we weren't stuffing ourselves. We tried the chicken and the brisket. Brisket was good and moist but the chicken was a bit dry. They have us 4 cups of sauces and we really liked that idea. One was a fall flavor called pumpkin, so they had a seasonal flavor (but to be honest, I didn't really feel any pumpkin). Trivia started on time and I was happy with both the host and the kinds of questions in the trivia, good mix of variety of topics. Hope to go back again some time!

4.5 stars. Back Home BBQ & Brew Co. is a family-owned and -operated restaurant, brewery, and bar. The menu focuses on Texas- and North Carolina-style BBQ meats. The slow-smoked meats include brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken. Other foods include appetizers (e.g., loaded fries, BBQ nachos, and fried pickles), burgers and other sandwiches, and sides (e.g., coleslaw, chili, and street corn). The bar offers a rotating selection of craft beers that are brewed on-site. Also available is catering for private events. My husband and I ate lunch here one time. Our waitress promptly and politely served us. Here are my reviews for our foods: Big Ol' Soft Pretzel - 4.5 stars - This pretzel was a huge size, and it tasted great. It would have come with mustard, but we paid extra for a substitute of queso that tasted OK. Smokehouse Cuban - 4 stars - My husband ate this sandwich. Mancini's Italian bread was filled with pulled pork, bacon, Swiss cheese, pickles, and Carolina Gold sauce. Beast Feast - 5 stars - This platter was a great way to sample all of the meats--flavorful brisket, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and smoke-fried wings (wings that are rubbed and smoked and then lightly fried)--as well as a couple of sides. I chose corn bread (5 stars), mac and cheese (4 stars), and beans (4.5 stars). The waitress gave us four sauces to try, and my husband's favorite was the "lone star" flavor. The total price was $84 plus tax and tip.

We've drove past this spot so many times and finally decided to order takeout! Ordering online was easy and gave an accurate wait time. Plenty of options, ability to add extra sauces or swap out sides. Food was so great, and just wish we would have eaten inside as the vibe was great! Live music and plenty of seating. Can't wait to go back to try their beer!

Great little place that is kinda hidden in a small plaza heading out of town. Glad I stopped here with a friend. I had 'Dude Where's My Fog' and 'Wrong Doug' both IPA's which were both acceptable brews but nothing distinct, both hazy NE style brews. The pumpkin beer that I had a taste of was not great to me as I did not care for the spice combination that was used. The beer flavors are why I would only give this a 4 rating. They have local wine, ciders and seltzers. The food that my friend and I had was fantastic! I had the Cajun chicken egg roll which was bursting with flavor and a nice sized serving My friend had a Smokehouse Cuban and said it was fantastic. The owner and son were there and the waitress was fantastic. Very friendly atmosphere. They have events happening several times a month. I would recommend stopping by for a bite and a sip.

My husband and I had been wanting to try out Back Home BBQ for awhile and finally had a chance to visit. The "smokifried" wings were amazing -- the portion was great for the price and they were served with their homemade BBQ sauce and ranch. My husband and I both got platters with brisket and smoked turkey. The turkey was dry rubbed and served with a cranberry BBQ sauce -- it was my favorite and I'd get a double portion of it next time. My husband loved his sides -- Cole slaw and French fries. I had the mac and cheese and Mexican street corn, which were also good! We'll definitely be back -- they were sold out of ribs and my husband was pretty bummed so we need to try them!

Stopped for lunch on Friday afternoon. We really liked the beers. My salad was very fresh and a good size portion. My husband liked his burger and the French fries were seasoned and very crisp. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the nice cross breeze. There was country music playing inside but no music outside. The whole place was clean and neat. We'd come back!

Fried pickles were definitely homemade. From the pickling up. They didn't have too much batter, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The beer options were nice. A bit for everyone with changing options. We ordered Sammie's - pork & brisket. Meats were cold but hope it was a one time off thing. The brisket did have a nice smoke ring to it. The nachos were also cold and the cheese curdled pretty quickly. Service was amazing and so we would come back and give them another try based on beer options and the service.

This is a great place! My wife and I have been wanting to stop and we were not disappointed! Great BBQ food and great beer selection! They had a band which was great. Also was very clean and well laid out. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great! The only minor complaint was the owner was behind the bar most of the time we sat there and she never said a word to us. I'd expect that for a place like this, she would have been friendlier and put customer service first.

The old automobile sign decor, milkshake bar, open kitchen concept and friendly staff, left a memorable impression. Big shout out to the couple, the hostess sat me with at the milkshake section of restaurant, and Lindsey one of the owners, for taking care of us. The food was plated to perfection, tasted amazing and the side salad, beyond anyone wildest dream of wow for a diner. Great portions of food, went with the sandwich special for the day. Lindsey, was engaging, great multi tasker and definitely shake master. She had to have done quite a few shakes as I watched and waited for my food. If your looking for milkshakes, burgers, prime rib, be sure to check Chop Shop out.

Timing is Everything!!!…read more I just happened to stop in at the Chop Shop in Downtown Butler, PA, during a recent Heatwave. As my luck would have it, I quickly discovered that this restaurant does not have air conditioning. I'm not sure if it was just offline or if it is permanent; however, be warned!! The restaurant had children and elderly people seated, so I couldn't wimp out and go somewhere else. The Chop SHop is a downtown Butler must-try, and it is three concepts rolled into one. The Chop Shop is a vintage-style eatery serving sandwiches, milkshakes, burgers, vegetarian fare and grilled meats. I ordered their specialty milkshake, which is a loaded milkshake that comes with everything thrown into one Milkshake. Although it was a perfect drink for a heatwave, my milkshake quickly melted due to the heat in the restaurant. For the main course, I ordered the Mixed Grill, which had grilled elk tenderloin, smoked quail, caramelized bacon brussels sprouts, dauphinoise potatoes and a blackberry brandy demi-glaze. The food was awesome, and those potatoes were crazy-good. The Elk was cooked to medium as I ordered, and the quail was tender and juicy. Overall, a good but hot dining experience. The Chop Shop has great food, great service, and one day may serve alcohol in the restaurant, but for now, their food and drinks can be enjoyed without it.

It's a proper neighborhood butcher shop on Butler Street, the kind of place that had mostly disappeared around here. They do whole animal butchery with meat sourced from local Pennsylvania farms, and you can feel how much the folks working there care about what they're doing. It's not a huge space, just a display case full of cuts, a wall of house made goods, and a small sandwich menu, but that's part of the charm. The staff were friendly and happy to point me in the right direction. The sandwiches are what really got me though. The smash burger is fantastic, a double patty on a challah bun with that special sauce, and you can actually taste the quality of the beef, which makes sense given the whole operation is built around good meat. I also grabbed some of their house made pastrami, and it did not disappoint, tender and full of flavor. Knowing everything is made in house, right down to the bacon and sausages, makes it even better. If you live nearby and don't have a butcher yet, this is the one.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I dont think we ended up with the correct order because we didn't end up with a cheesesteak, but did not realize until we got home. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.
