I've been going to this diner since I was little. This location is smaller than their last one but it's very nice and cozy! My favorite meal there is the broiled steak tips, and French onion soup! The staff seem pretty friendly and service is quick! Definitely my goto diner for comfort food!

More like 3.5 stars. It's an average diner so you get exactly what you'd expect. Shout out to their massive salad menu. I had the Texas fries, mozzarella sticks, and the chefs salad. Everything was good, nothing special. The house dressing is really good. I also took a bite of the southern quesadilla and it was fine. Take note of the cookies in the front. They're MASSIVE. Service is good. Prices are on the higher side for diner food.

    Cappuccino YUMMY!

This is a neighborhood diner that serves GLUTEN FREE PANCAKES! I repeat: GLUTEN FREE PANCAKES!! Okay, I'm calm. I had to get that out. This is a great diner that has great GF options. The pancakes are large, light and fluffy. They have large portions for fair prices. As a group we had the pancakes, of course, bacon, home fries, cheese eggs and an egg white omelet for me. (It makes me feel less glutinous ) I had a cappuccino that was so pretty when presented and yummy upon consumption. They have frappuccinos and hot coco with whipped cream. Our waitress was simply lovely and attentive. I liked the whole mood of the place. We will definitely be back...sorry IHOP but you need GF pancakes.

Empty front area because the employees are hiding in the kitchen.

Very poor service. The people who work here ignore you. They walk right by you and act like you're bothering them if you try to get their attention. I literally stood at the front counter for 10 minutes without being asked if I needed help. No thanks.

Hi Yelp friends. Welcome to Mitchell's Diner located in Oceanside, Long Island. Thanks to my Yelp friend Jason C. for introducing me to this neighborhood family-owned Diner. I'm very small business-friendly and Mitchell's Diner seemed perfect for breakfast today. I ordered their super-deluxe breakfast special. What a meal !! The breakfast came with coffee, eggs with Challah French toast, pancakes with ham, bacon and fat link sausages. The breakfast sausages were the best. Hot and freshly prepared, they squirted when I cut into them. Breakfast didn't quit here and was big enough to feed a crew of lumberjacks. Featuring fluffy pancakes, French toast bacon and ham! My meal was soo tasty, I ate it all. I returned for lunch here a few days later for their delicious meatloaf lunch special. Lunch was served with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn on the cob. Coffee, bread basket. A choice of soup was also included with this lunch special. At just $13.95, I found it to be a great deal. I returned recently an ordered their juicy, sweet, delicious, homemade fried chicken in the basket. It wasn't a lunch special but I'm a fried chicken fanatic and I had to have it. I paired my chicken with cranberry and hot gravy for dipping. Damn, this was the best fried chicken I've had in years. And yes, their mashed potatoes are real. Buttery and delicious the consistency was perfect. This is one meal that I personally have to recommend to all guests. My lunches arrived quickly nice and hot, leaving plenty time to eat and get back to work. In summation, I was very pleased with my deluxe breakfast and meatloaf lunch special. The hospitality was courteous and the food was on point. Mitchell's is definitely recommended by Big Jim. If you're looking for unpretentious first class treatment and homestyle fare you'll be happy here. PS.. Please don't forget to order their "secret" homemade, freshly cooked chocolate pudding with homemade whipped cream. You'll end your meal perfectly.

Afternoon team: this review is not about food at this restaurant. This is about the actions of a racist hostess.I work for DoorDash, upon entering this business I was Greeted by the hostess, "who at the time asked me why am I here for?" I politely said "afternoon I'm with door dash and I'm picking up food for Arielle". The hostess then said "let me check" she came back out looked for the ticket for the order and said "im bagging it up right now" 10minutes go by and I ask her in a joking manner "miss are you sure they are not making the order now instead of bagging it?" The hostess says to me "I don't work for you people, can't you see I'm busy?" I said "miss "I'm only asking because I have been waiting for this order for over 20min and if I've been waiting that long I can imagine how long the customer is waiting" she says to me again "I don't work for you people, what's the order Ariel? Here it is right here" slams the bag of food on the counter and tells me to "take my shit and leave", her comments are racist, all I could say was "have a nice day". I informed the customer who told me they will not be ordering from This establishment again and I have informed door dash. I don't care how the food taste, and honestly I don't know how the other waitresses are, all I can speak on is my experience with that one hostess who trust me I am waiting to talk to the manager and I will find out her name and post it here for you guys. Thanks for listening. I have attached my ratings to show you guys how im viewed by both my customers and door dash. Thanks again.

I don't understand how a diner can turn away families that need to bring in a car seat or stroller. It's a diner aka family restaurant.

She was celebrating her…read morebirthday and wanted to have dinner with a very close friend, so I looked for a place to get my own supper. Of course Long Island has lots of diners, but they are all unique, and I would say that based on my experience, Imperial is one of the best. I did not want your typical huge diner meal, which is much too much food, so I went with a nice dinner size Mediterranean Salad. The food was excellent - top quality fresh ingredients, put together beautifully and delicious. I was equally impressed by the service. When I travel to New York, I will often run into people who are not particularly friendly or helpful, including many who work at restaurants. This was not the case at all at Imperial. They were kind, and eager to give me a great experience. For a diner, it was not too noisy, and everything was very clean. Prices were very fair too. The only thing lacking .. and I saw this a lot in New York, was non-alcoholic beer. I cannot drink alcohol, and this is something I really enjoy with my meals. Imperial does have a variety of "Mocktails" .. so there are options for folks like me ..but it would be nice to see some beer options for the growing number of people who either cannot drink, or prefer to avoid alcohol. This is definitely a good choice if you are looking for a nice diner. Highly recommended.

I had been traveling for several hours, was hungry and we went to the Golden Reef. It was a holiday weekend and the place was packed. I really thought we would have to wait but no, we were seated immediately and water arrived at the table. The waitress was very accommodating throughout our visit and we gave her our drink order. We both got coffees and the person filling our cups was very attentive and came by consistently to make sure our cups were filled. After talking for a bit, we gave our patient waitress our order. I got the cheeseburger, medium well which came with a pickle slice and cole slaw and was very tasty. My friend ordered the challah bread French toast with sausage. She was very happy with her selection. We stayed for a while after we finished our meals and were not rushed in any way. The ambience is very conducive to sitting and talking over your meal. They also have a gelato bar and a section of baked goods which looked very tempting. If you in Rockville Centre and decide to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, the Golden Reef will not disappoint.
