Planter sando

This was a literal Mission: Sandwich! My friend picked these up and we headed out for a hike + picnic. Thoroughly enjoyed the Planter veggie sandwich, pairs nicely with great views

French toast

Love everything. Food is delicious! My daughter love the French toast for breakfast. The place is nice, clean and organized. Very friendly personnel. Definitely coming back to Mission Picnic.

Kale Caesar

One of the best salads I've had in a while. I had their kale Caesar salad with romaine, watermelon, cucumbers, homemade croutons, and an anchovy based Caesar dressing. I chose not to get the anchovies on top of my salad; plenty of flavor without. Service was very, very friendly and sitting at the counter looking out onto Valencia Street while it's raining perfect ambience.

Wonderful little spot for breakfast. I had two bacon and egg empanadas and some kombucha and sat and watched the world go by. Delightful atmosphere inside, great music, good vibes and good food. Very polite and helpful staff. I loved the chimichurri sauce.

Breakfast burrito is a decent size

Working my way through all the breakfast burritos in San Francisco. It's taking a while. Anyway. Stopped by Mission Picnic last week for theirs. It was... unusual. It has eggs, soyrizo, hash browns, cheese, grilled peppers, sour cream, and salsa. Sounds good. But the overwhelming flavor was "sweet peppers". There was a ton of them, right in the middle of the burrito. Like a tube of peppers. Very sweet peppers. It was fresh, well prepared, and hot. And the restaurant itself looked nice/clean. But I just couldn't get over the sweet pepper flavor. If the peppers had been swapped for more hash browns and more cheese, it would have been a solid balance. Overall, if you like grilled sweet peppers, this is the breakfast burrito for you. Otherwise, maybe try a lunch sandwich.

The best empanadas I've EVER tasted. Super phat empanadas and filled with goodness. Comes with tasty dip (chimichurri?). Yum. The place is clean and does a lot of catering and Togo but there's nice clean seats for too. The staff was friendly with a modern twist to a taqueria. Nice place. I'm coming back again. Their breakfast is calling me.

ABLT

ABLT for $13 This comes with applewood smoked bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and garlic aioli on ciabatta. Super delicious sandwich! Doesn't taste heavy at all. All of the vetables was really fresh. The bacon was smokey and they give a perfect amount of it. I love that it also comes with a side of salad & a cookie!

San Franciscan ($12.5)

Expensive. Small Portions. Okay Sandwiches at Best. Takeout, Indoor, & Outdoor Dining. Friendly Staff. Residential, Parking Lot, & Metered Parking. Some COVID-19 Precautions. See Below for More Info: Expensive: The most memorable aspect of my dining experience at Mission Picnic was the expensive cost. Sandwiches are $12 and up. Small Portions: The portions at Mission Picnic are small. I had a pastrami, turkey, provolone sandwich because I was feeling hungry. However, as you can see from my photo, the sandwich consisted of a minuscule slice of each meat. Hence, more of a place for a snack or your own sandwich and less so for sharing. Takeout, Indoor, & Outdoor Dining: Mission Picnic has three dining options: takeout, indoor, and outdoor. The indoor seating consist of a few tables for duos and four people and high bar seating. The outdoor seating is one shared table near the Mission Picnic door. Friendly Staff: Mission Picnic staff are friendly. I was warmly greeted when arriving and departing. Residential, Parking Lot, & Metered Parking: In the immediate area around Mission Picnic, your two car parking options include a paid lot and meters. The lot is on Barlett one block away and meters run along Valencia. You can get lucky and get free residential parking, but it's pretty hard. Some COVID-19 Precautions: Staff were wearing masks as were customers when they were ordering and picking up their food. However, COVID-19 vaccination is not checked for indoor nor outdoor dining.

San Franciscan - minus a few things like the turkey.

Today is the perfect day to get a cosmic reminder to not get cocky. The hb and I made our way to the Mission to pick up a kit for my Yelp event on Monday. But before that I wanted a salad and he wanted a sandwich. So we decided on Mission Picnic. Ordered online and ready for pickup when we arrived. I was feeling confident, and with new applied eye cream, looking bright and awake. Now I worked a short bit of time in this part of the Mission a few years ago, so like Dr. Ken Jeong on the Masked Singer would say, "I KNOW EXACTLY where this is. Follow me..." And I let hb to a spot where I thought Mission Picnic would be, only it wasn't there. Puzzled, I led him through a back alley street to another street thinking well maybe I'm mistaken and it's on this other street to find that it's not located there either. Hb pulled out his phone and checked address..."hmm, honey, it says VALENCIA street." Me: O__o Me: ...maybe they moved?!?!!? Well they moved about a year ago, and the newer space is very spacious and lovely. The staff was also very nice, wore masks correctly. The restaurant looks very clean. We picked up our food and decided to eat right outside. I loved my Cobb salad. It was delicious. His sandwich was pretty solid as well. Ahhh Yes, just as I remembered...except not quite... Hb was nice about it and did not ribbed me too much.

I have been going to Mission Picnic since they were around the corner, and I really like the new location on Valencia. The space is large and open, and they have a very well isolated parklet system set up during Covid. Their Mozzarella sandwich remains to be my favorite. We have had mostly all the others and like them as well. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Perfect mid day lunch in the sunny mission!

Has the ordering format changed? when did caviar start to accept orders? used to simply order on line - pick up my order anf pay them.

Hi Jaime, we actually switched over to Caviar handling our individual orders around 2 years ago. We're happy to take your phone order for pickup and in store payment via phone @ 415.735.3080. Also, in our catering tab, you could also place a pickup…

In researching places near where we were staying, we learned about the Italian deli and shop. We were looking forward to stopping by to check out the store and grab lunch. The store itself is very cute and charming, full of so many items - fresh meats and cheeses, imported olive oils, pastas, desserts, wine, and liquor to name a few. There is an area where you can get coffee drinks and there is a deli area for ordering sandwiches, pizzas, specialty dishes, and salads. The variety of options is plentiful. I ordered an iced coffee beverage, which was great. My significant other and I ordered a sandwich to go, which we were splitting for a light lunch back at the hotel. The person helping at the counter was not very friendly or helpful with questions. We asked for our sandwich to be made on the Dutch Crunch bread, as we were looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, when we got back to the hotel, it turned out that the sandwich was made on a regular ciabatta roll, which was not fresh. Additionally, the sandwich was mostly mixed greens. For the price, I expected more meat. With so many great food options in San Francisco, it is likely we won't stop by on future visits to the City.

A recent reviewer called it a "greasy goopy mess" which is kind of accurate, except but it wasn't that messy, but it was super delicious. The 49er was very meaty, with pastrami, corned beef, brisket, white american cheese, peppers and sauce in a roll. It was still piping hot even after the 20 minute car ride home. (I bet it would burn the roof of your mouth if you ate immediately) Overall, it tasted very much like a pastrami/corned beef cheesesteak. I showed up at 2:30 on a Tuesday afernoon and there were only a few people ahead of me. I had my sandwich within 10 minutes walking through the door. I paid for 1 hour of parking and was lucky the meter maid didn't come by since it took about 1 hr 10 minutes including the 15 minute wait for the sandwich to be ready, and the walk over. I ordered their most famous sandwich, the 49er which is corned beef, pastrami, brisket, white American cheese, cherry peppers, coleslaw, 1000 island, board sauce, on a French roll. For $24 I was expecting a larger sandwich, it was only about 6" long. It's a good sandwich, I would rate it 4 stars, but honestly the coleslaw and cherry peppers didn't contribute enough to the flavor - it needed more tanginess. A positive was that they give you two pieces of pickles to help balance the flavors, but I would not order this sandwich again, nor would I go back to Deli Board since it wasn't worth the wait. Their Coke is in glass bottles which looked cool but not at all recommended for cars since it tipped over too easily.
