Stumbled across this "Ma & Pa" burger place. You order at the front and then get seats. There was no line when I arrived. I ordered the double cheeseburger meal (which comes with fries and a drink). Surprisingly it was $15, so definitely a little pricey when compared to In N Out or other burger places. It took less than 5 min for the food to be ready. Scattered about every city are older family restaurants that off off the beaten path (for some), but established institutions for locals who know. Mission Burgers is such a spot, as is nearby Butch's Grinders. The interior is dated but comfy, and the staff are stable, a family crew, which helps with consistency. I came here years ago for breakfast, a quesadilla, I believe. Don't remember much about that, but there's a picture, so it definitely happened. Then, two friends, independently of one another, mentioned this place was great for burgers, hence the name. That sparked renewed curiosity, and I popped in just after the typical lunch hour to give them a try. I remembered the lady who took the order, and shortly after grabbing a booth, one of the cooks delivered my food. The fries were very hot, perfectly cooked, and delicious. A good sized portion, too. The burger was their pastrami topped offering with thousand island for the sauce. I recommend grabbing some mustard to add because there's pastrami! A very solid effort, and prices are competitive with often inconsistent fast food by Del Taco, McDonald's, and Burger King. Why not support local businesses, especially families? I'll have to try more around the menu, including breakfast soon. read more

Came in for a quick bite with a coworker for lunch. I love chili cheese fries so I decided to try them out. I was very disappointed on the quality of the chili. The chili had no flavor. The meat in the chili was very minced so there wasn't any big chunks of meat. I had to add a lot of salt for it to have any taste. The fries itself were good and cooked perfectly. I asked for onions but as you can see I didn't get much. Portion was good size. The lady at the counter is friendly and was helpful. The restaurant was empty at first and is clean. According to the review this was the best. I disagree. I have had many different experiences with teriyaki and this one isn't good. The chicken isn't fresh, and the sauce is too salty. The place is nice and quiet on a weekday afternoon. The customer service is fine also. I had no issues with either the service or the price. I'm bummed at the flavor. What I do know is that (IMO) Mission Burgers makes one of the best breakfast burritos in Riverside. Located in a nondescript strip mall near Ryan Bonamino Park, Mission Burgers is exactly the kind of hole in the wall you'd expect to sling great grub. As per my usual I went with the chorizo breakfast burrito but to make it interesting I also ordered a regular size fried zucchini. Now, what makes a Mission Burgers breakfast burrito elite? PROPORTION. Not too much eggs in the chorizo so it's spicy. You got an even spread of chorizo/eggs/potatoes and cheese so you get a bit of everything in one bite. It's a meal that will last you all day. I didn't even eat dinner. That's how filling it was. The zucchinis were really good as well. The breading was thin making for a delicious vessel for ranch dressing. Service is also friendly and the food is made very fast. I had the RCC track team in front of me and was still out in no time. I've tried breakfast burritos from all over Riverside and Mission Burgers is the king to me. If they only had a drive thru, they would be beyond elite. But hey, I'm OK with making that stop. We are Wood Street Locals and LOVE Mission Burger ever since we moved to the area. Their breakfast burritos are banging, and you can't go wrong with their cheeseburger combo's or even a chicken teriyaki plate! My husband loves the steak sandwich and the owner always cooks it perfect with just the right amount of pink in the middle. Fresh fries and nuggets for our hungry toddler. Service is always great.
