Moist brisket
Michelle J.

Solid bbq, most impressed with the customer service (Hayley I believe). Lean brisket was dry but the moist brisket was fatty and really good. Borderline too fatty though, so I'm hoping somewhere in the middle next time. Ha! Mac was very good, greens were good and the potato salad was different but I liked it. Nice choice for lunch or a family outing. It's basically city bbq on steroids with better sides.

Bald White Guy Reviews - First Review! MISSION BBQ - Mason, OH Rating: ‍‍‍‍ (4 out of 5 Bald Heads) Had to run an errand today and decided to meet up with my University of Cincinnati student son for a quick lunch. He suggested Mission BBQ in Mason. I'd never been, so while waiting on my lunch guest, I did what any modern diner does--scoped out the menu online www.mission-bbq.com. Brisket, pulled meats, fries, and all the fixin's. Sweet tea, lemonade, and a soda lineup that could make a gas station jealous. Pulling into the lot, the first thing I noticed--besides the fact that my stomach was already growling--was the smell of the smoker drifting through the air like a meaty siren song. The exterior was spotless, and the military/first responder theme was clear before I even walked in. Inside, it's a tribute wall of service--military photos, law enforcement, fire, and EMS patches (I'm guessing donated by patrons). As a first responder myself, I appreciated the respect baked into the atmosphere. Pro tip for first-timers: You order at the counter, grab your own drink, and find a seat. When your food's ready, they call your name and bring it to you. Simple, efficient, and no awkward "who's my server?" moments. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, fresh-cut fries, and a sweet tea. The pork? Tender, smoky, and full of that slow-cooked depth that makes you want to close your eyes for a second bite. The fries? Fresh Cut, Golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside--basically the potato equivalent of a standing ovation. On the table: a BBQ sauce tour of America--Texas Twang, Smoky Mountain, Memphis Belle, KC Classic, South Carolina Zing, and my personal favorite, Tupelo Honey Heat (sweet, spicy, and just dangerous enough to keep you coming back). Bonus points for the vinegar bottle--perfect for fries, just like the county fair. Mid-meal, an employee came around offering samples of their corn casserole. I'm not saying it changed my life, but I wouldn't turn it down if it showed up at my table again. The verdict: $34 for two lunches. The frugal side of me thinks that's a bit steep for a quick bite, but let's be honest--everywhere's pricey these days. The food was solid, the atmosphere was genuine, and the service was warm. Mission accomplished. I will go back for sure. If you in the area it is worth the stop! First Responders - Take a uniform patch from your department to add to the wall! Final score: 4 Bald Heads. Not 5--because my wallet still remembers.

Perfect food that's what's in this picture

I highly recommend Mission BBQ. We used them for a wedding party at rehearsal. They were awesome. I can't say anything bad perfect situation. Thank you Mission BBQ.

This isn't sliced brisket!! Not sure what is was. Not a great flavor

Well, I travel almost every week and I'm looking for BBQ across the country. This place had 4.5 stars but I don't understand why. Seems as if everything is made in the oven. Rib meat fell off the bone but they didn't look very appealing and tasted about the same. Brisket was blaaa. No smoke ring, turkey was good Water was good All in all. I won't be back

The staff is super friendly. They are very first responder friendly. The brisket was amazing and the corn bread to die for. Highly recommend!

Brisket, pulled chicken, smoked jalapeño sausage, potato salad, fries, collard greens, baked beans, corn bread....

It is exactly what you want if you're craving good barbecue. Levels above other known chain places and it's an easy 9.3 out of 10. That's a really high score and this places is definitely deserving of it. Service was also exceptional.

Chopped brisket sandwich w/ green beans, Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes

This time around my review has changed to 5 stars . All the employees were very pleasant from the moment I walked in until the moment I left . I got the chopped brisked sandwich combo w/ 2 sides and a drink. I added on a extra size . This was a tad pricey for one person but oh so delicious . All my sides were phenomenal - Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Green beans had a great bacon and onion flavor , the mashed potatoes you could tell were freshly made and they had good flavor. The brisket was juicy and delicious. I will be back !

Go right before noon to experience max patriotism! Everyday at noon, Mission BBQ pauses and all staff and guests sing the national anthem. I got the brisket meat combo with a side of coleslaw. The brisket itself was okay; even though I requested a fattier cut, the meat itself was a little lean and dry. Big fan of all the different sauces available! I like to try a different sauce with each bite, so it's more fun to eat at the restaurant itself.

Brisket sandwich with side of mac n' cheese

Food: 4.5/5 This place is a great lunch spot but also is open late so that you can get BBQ for dinner. We got the sampler platter with moist brisket and jalapeno cheddar sausage, the brisket sandwich, two sides of mac n' cheese, and rountain drinks. The sampler platter allows you to select two or three meats to try and is served with cornbread. I can not say enough good things about the moist brisket. It is flavorful and tender. The brisket sandwich also comes with an option for moist brisket. They have tea and lemonade fountain drink options for Arnold Palmer if you like that flavor. Finally, they have eight different sauces to pick which speaks to you. Service: 5/5 It's a bistro-style restaurant, so you order at the counter and take a seat. Everyone is friendly, and they always have someone on the floor to check in if you need anything. They employ veterans, and everyone always has a smile on their face. It seems like the people like working there and take the job seriously. Atmosphere: 5/5 It is themed to honor veterans and is well-decorated. The space is practical with a fun twist. Everything is always super clean. They have an open kitchen, so you can see them assemble the plates, and sometimes you can see them smoking things outside.

It was like a small city that I had never heard about. There were so many stores and restaurants all around. The atmosphere was amazing, there was a celebration in the square for Juneteenth and the live band and singers were wonderful. The food at Cowboy Sallys was delicious. I got the Coca-Cola Short Ribs and they were so good. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the short rib fell apart like butter. My friends each got a sandwich and they loved them. We ended the meal with dessert, their bread pudding and chocolate lava cake. They were both delicious, and the cake was nice and warm. Our server told us that the lava cake is supposed to come with ice cream and they ran out, so she took it off our bill which was very nice. While the service was very kind and welcoming, it was a little slow. Our server took a while to come to the table in the beginning and was somewhat absent during the dining experience. The host came over to take our order because she was busy. But they were both very nice when they did come to the table and chatted with us. Overall it was very fun and the food was really good, and it was the perfect night with nice weather and live music not far away.

We have tried calling ahead of time from experiencing long waits when just going inside. The first time was on Father's Day, we called 40 minutes ahead and they said it would take that long, we only ordered two ribs. That's it..but when getting there they said 40 more minutes. We had to cancel that order because we were on the way to our Father's Day event. Today, we called an hour ahead for only three ribs, a small Mac and two corn muffins. Nothing had been prepared for our meal, they said it was slow..we asked to make sure what kind of time to give them. But when arriving we still waited like twenty minutes for our food and they still thought our order was something else entirely. Needless to say this place is literally a waist of time. I saw maybe 3-4 tables sat and all were waiting on food. No one got their food while we waited...I wish we had reliable bbq around. On top of all of that, I'm just getting to my destination now noticing they gave me six ribs and two corn muffins. I don't understand how they got this wrong because we told them to their face as they were packing it and they still messed it up.
