First and foremost the young lady at the counter was very welcoming and very helpful. I'd never been inside before and it wasn't what I expected at all. Very open, order food and wait at the end of the counter. Then, seat yourself. Very cute inside. Loved the condiment section. My plan was to go in and only get a gift card. While in line, I was checking out the menu board. I wound up eating lunch there. A Turkey sandwich, side of green beans and a side of Mac n cheese. There was so much Turkey on the sandwich that I ate 3 slices and took the rest home. There sides were delicious. I was hesitant about the Mac n cheese since I never like crumb toppings. It was sooo goooood! Would go back just for this! I loved the green beans as well, but you could tell they were canned and had that tinny taste. Still good though and ate them! First time at mission Bbq because it seems my husband is in search of a great bbq restaurant. Parking was good. We went to the counter to order. The menu is on the wall behind the counter. I felt rushed and didn't fully understand it. I ordered the bbq shrimp then he hands me a big cup and asked me what sides I wanted. I told him I normally drink water and he said it comes with it. He also said that the sides came with it too. Same with my husband and son. I paid the bill and we found a table. They brought our food when it was ready. I'm looking at the receipt then the menu board in total confusion. Anyway I have figured it out. Nothing comes with the meats that you order. You can add XL and get sides and a drink. The employee behind the counter was not helpful at all even after I explained that it was our first time there. Honestly I felt deceived. The food was okay but nothing to get excited about. It's been a while since we've had BBQ and I found Mission BBQ during a random online search, which had opened just recently. It sits right on the corner of Stephanie and Warm Springs, making it incredibly easy to access. I wanted to do dine in originally, but I was so tired that night that I chose takeout instead. We both ordered sandwiches for ourselves. I got the pulled chicken sandwich and my LTP got the brisket sandwich with fries on the side. As an extra side, we both got Maggie's mac and cheese. We got there about an hour before closing, where it was still a little busy and people were still coming in. But it didn't take too long for our food to come out. The smell of the food was so good that we immediately knew that we were going to enjoy it even before getting home. They have their own truck sitting outside in the parking lot, like those trucks you see in the military, but I'm not sure if it's drivable or not. My pulled chicken sandwich was tender and a decent size. If I had added BBQ sauce to it, it would've been extra tasty but also a little messy. My LTP said that he enjoyed his brisket sandwich, and I'm not sure who Maggie is, but her mac and cheese was delicious and flavorful. It really fit in quite well with both of our sandwiches. First let me say the customer service was outstanding. Everyone we came in contact with was incredibly friendly and eager to help. Hard to come by. The food was actually really good too. I finally chose to accept it. Mission BBQ is a chain that took over the Henderson spot once occupied by Sweet Tomatoes. Easily seen on the southwest corner of Stephanie and Warm Springs, this spot does seem to give some legitimacy to Henderson's quiet BBQ scene. Order at the counter, and go with a friend or two if you wanna try all the proteins. My friend and I each went with a 3 Meat Sampler ($21.29) and got almost everything. You can actually order sides a la carte, but if you're going for a drink (I loved making an Arnold Palmer with their tea and lemonade available in bubblers), then an XL Combo ($6.00) or XXL Combo ($8.75) are cost-effective. The smoked meats range from really good to pulled pork. Skip that pulled pork if you can. It's a little tough, kinda dry, and lacks fat. My ranking of the rest of what I tried are, best to not as great, moist brisket, then surprisingly pulled chicken, then lean brisket, turkey, and jalapeño & cheese sausage. The pulled chicken and turkey are both surprisingly moist, so they both work. The moist brisket is definitely much more moist than the dry, which is passable if you haven't had really great smoked brisket. The sausage is juicy but I'm a little biased against spicy things. The smoke is a little on the subtle side overall but is definitely present. Playing with sauce-meat combos or multiple sauces is the real minigame of the meal. Most of the sauces are at the tables but some are only on the condiment "toolbox" between the two fountains and bubblers. Just try them all and you'll probably find some that are best suited for either your overall taste or each individual meat; my favorites ended up being KC Classic, Georgian Mustard (in a glass bottle), and South Carolina Zing (on the toolbox). We tried a few sides between the two of us. The included corn bread wasn't at the peak of ideal moisture content but worked for me. The Cold Slaw sat somewhere between creamy and vinegary, and I thought it was fine but not very impressive. The Kickin' Collard Greens were lighter than I expected and had a nice twist with the presence of tomato pieces. The Maggie's Mac-N-Cheese was cheesy and rich. And the Cherry Cheesecake, a seasonal sweet that does qualify as a side, feels oddly deconstructed then reconstructed, with some sorta whipped body sandwiched between graham cracker crumble and maraschino cherries. It still tasted solid enough though. I can see myself coming back to Mission BBQ on occasion if the BBQ bug bites me. I have driven up and down Stephanie Street for some time and noticed this location, but never had the opportunity to stop in. I always thought it had a cool exterior vibe to it, and was super excited to go to lunch there The place has a great military theme, including a hardcore military smoker out front! Front! Fries well done, but in hindsight I think that they would have made the sandwich when the fries were first pulled. Regardless, the meat was really really good! Make sure you order it moist, so you get a little bit of extra fat on the sandwich. It makes a difference okay. You definitely have choices when it comes to sauces. I was a fan of the Texas honey hot, not super spicy but has a bit of a zing to it. For their perfectly cooked meat. The fries were amazing, perfectly crisp just the way I like them. Them. I've heard about Mission BBQ and was happy to see another bbq place in the area. We have so many , but most are just average with a few with one or two items that stand out. Unfortunately I haven't been to one in the area that blows you away like in other places I've lived or visited. I grew up in the Carolinas , lived in Texas , visited Oklahoma and so many other places where I've ate my share of BBQ. It has been a love since I was a kid. I like that they have all the Military and First Responder items all over the restaurant and also the feel of a Texas Bbq place. I'm a Veteran myself of 10 years. They don't offer a Veteran Discount like many places , but instead have a Veterans VIP Club you can join for Gifts and Specials throughout the year. So of course I joined. They have other locations all over the U.S. including Oklahoma City where I can take my son and daughter-in-law the next time I visit. Now let's get to the food ! I got the 2 Meat Combo and added a Single Baby Back Rib to try. I chose the Pulled Pork , Lean Brisket , and Baked Beans with Pieces of Brisket in it. It also came with a piece of Cornbread which is nice since many bbq places in town charge for a piece of cornbread. I got Sweet Tea and I also tried their Lemonade when I went to get a refill from the beverage station. On the table they have a container with 6 different bbq sauces and one bottle of North Carolina Vinegar and Pepper Sauce which is what is used for Pulled Pork where I grew up. At the beverage station there was also 2 more bbq sauces. The Baby Back Rib was very tender and fall off the bone. It didn't really have any seasoning or dry rub on it , but I did try several of the sauces on it. It was pretty good. The Pulled Pork was pretty good also , but not the true Carolina Whole Hog Pulled Pork we have back home. It was close though. I shook up the bottle of Vinegar and Pepper Sauce to mix it up good before pouring on the pulled pork. It was a little weak , it should be more tangy and vinegary. I added a little of the Georgia Mustard Sauce to it and mixed it up and that did the trick. The Brisket. My fault for getting the Lean instead of the Moist. It was dry ! It had good smoke and a nice smoke ring , but even with different sauces I couldn't save it. I ate all of it of course , but I don't recommend getting the Lean. I will try the Moist next time. Beans with Brisket Pieces. Yes , so good ! I've never been to a Texas Bbq place that doesn't know how to make great bbq beans. These are some of the best I've had in town. One of my co-workers came here a week or so ago and said the Green Beans are outstanding too. I will try them next time. Cornbread was just okay , but I do appreciate it being included with the meal. All bbq places should include a piece of cornbread with a combo. Sweet Tea and Lemonade. Sweet Tea was a little weak and my son would've said it was a lot weak ha ha. It was good though. The same with the Lemonade , weak. For someone who likes Arnold Palmers it would be pretty good and they also have Unsweetened Tea which is a Sin in the South. But there are the people on a diet or with diabetes that would still like to have some tea too. Bbq Sauces. I tried all of them except the Texas Twang which they were out of and an employee said they were making more when I asked about it when I was leaving. Smokey Mountain , Memphis Belle , KC Classic , Baja Bold , Tupelo Honey Heat are all the ones on the table. Also the NC Vinegar and Pepper Sauce in a bottle is on the table. At the beverage area they had a Georgia Mustard Sauce and a Bay-B-Que Sauce which was a Bbq sauce with Bay Leaves. All were just okay to me except I didn't care for the Tupelo Honey Heat. Different ones tasted better on different meats. Bottled Drinks. They have a wide selection of bottled drinks to choose from to include Cheerwine which is a Cherry Soda from North Carolina that of course I bought one to take home. I used to buy it at Rocket Fizz at Area 15 , but they were having problems getting it a while back and I quit going there trying to pick some up. They said the distributor was having trouble getting it and Blenheim Ginger Ale Hot which is from South Carolina and I used to buy it there by the case ! I know order it directly from the factory and have it shipped to my home now. Service. Everyone that I talked to was nice and informative. One lady was going around cleaning the tables and asking if you needed anything. She took my tray after I was done and we talked about a few things with the restaurant. I would recommend you giving it a try and making your own decisions on the food since everyone has their own taste and regional favorites. At the end, only way I could eat is cut the outer part off (the charred, flavored part). This review is based on a first-time visit on 7/10/25. My party of 2 ordered the Meat Sampler with 3 meats - Brisket (moist, not lean), Pulled Pork, Baby Back Ribs. The highlights for me were as follows: - Brisket: The meat was super tender and juicy and paired beautifully with the assortment of sauces (6 different ones) available on the table. My personal fave though was the Baja sauce... it had a nice little kick and tang. - Baby Back Ribs: As I had hoped, these were falling-off-the bones delectable. I am salivating just thinking about this. - Fresh Cut Fries: Mission's fries were crispy and very well seasoned. These are easily in the top 10% of fries I've had over the past few years. There is plenty of seating, with quite a bit of large format tables, along with the 2 and 4 tops. I really appreciated that we got a full cup for water and not a small one that needed to be refilled 2 or 3 times. The food was pretty good, but nothing I'd write home about. The fare was pretty standard BBQ done nicely. We ordered a 2 meat combo with brisket (moist) and pulled chicken. We also added a 2 side combo with coleslaw and mac and cheese. The brisket wasn't moist at all, in fact it was pretty dried out, so I had to use a good amount of BBQ sauce. I used every single sauce and didn't find one I didn't like, except the KC, which was good but again nothing special. The pulled chicken was also dry, but the vinegar sauce on the table went well with it. The coleslaw was a bit bland, so we added the Georgia mustard sauce, that made it shine. The mac and cheese was excellent and the little cornbread that came with the meal was nice and sadly moister than the brisket. I also tried my dad's baked beans. Those were excellent and I'd eat those everyday if I had to. They don't do a military/veteran discount here but you can join a program to get free food over time. Either though this is an order at the counter kinda place, they still had staff coming to check on us and offering refills of our drinks. One nice thing is that the tables has chairs instead of the wooden benches that some BBQ places use at their tables. That one reason my wife doesn't like to go out for BBQ, and I have to agree. I'm not at a picnic in a park, so don't make me sit on bench with other people. Anyway, the booths do have typical booth seats. The food was great. My ribs were seasoned with a dry rub. The tables all have a carrier with an assortment of 6 different sauces you can use, if you wish. I sampled them on the side, but chose to eat mine without. The meat was tender, juicy, and tasted great on its own. My buddy had the brisket sandwich and let me try a piece of the meat. Equally tasty. He has been here a few times and tried different things. He like all of it but said the brisket was his favorite my far, and I could see why. And the prices are seasonable for the amount of food that you get. I could see sharing the 5 bone pork ribs with my wife, getting another side as extra. Had to try this BBQ place with a couple of friends. This place isnpretty cozy and had a casual ambiance. You order from the counter then you pick a seat. I suggest if you are going on a group to have one of your group secure a good seat otherwise you can choose whatever is available if you are not choosy. Yes, you can get a taste of free cornbread from the counter where you order food. The fountain drink was unlimited. You can get as much soda as you want. On the menu, you can choose their combi meats. There BBQ meats were super tasty and flavorful. The price was not that expensive. I absolutely love this place! I will say they have a VIP Military program but don't honor military discount. Food score: The pulled chicken was dry but flavorful The collard greens were better than I expected! The corn bread was a true corn bread super dry! Not the moist cake like version that I love! They just opened yesterday.. so we had to check them out! You could tell they just opened as there were loads of staff members behind the counter and on the floor. There's a lot of military memorabilia and photos on the walls and a big truck in the parking lot. There were only 2 people in front of us in line so we were at the counter in a few minutes. The kid at the counter was helpful and friendly. We ordered a 3 meat combo plate with Brisket, chicken and turkey with a side of mac and cheese and beans. The brisket had a nice crust on the outside with a good smoke ring and it was fatty & juicy. There's 8 different sauces, 6 on your table and 2 more at the condiment/soda station. Glad we have a new spot in the area to liven up the restaurant choices. It's a prime location for people running errands down Stephanie to stop and grab some lunch. The service was enthusiastic and servers stopped by our table frequently to check on us. The restaurant was busy and fairly loud, but had plenty of seating even at a peak hour. I liked the baked beans and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was creamy and rich and the baked beans were sweet with pieces of brisket throughout. The pulled chicken sandwich and half bird were both just okay. The bread on the sandwich wasn't my favorite. The cornbread also was a little too condensed and tasted like it'd been frozen prior. The array of sauces to pick from is a nice touch because there's something for everyone. We also really liked their sweet tea a lot, so I'll probably come back here sometime in the future just for the tea. Some may find it a bit too sweet, but it's perfect for those of us from the south. Overall, the prices are a little steep for us to feel like it's an amazing value, especially because I'm used to BBQ that comes with two sides + cornbread for about $15. I also don't love the military theming of the restaurant, it's just a little too intense. I wouldn't avoid coming back, but we weren't wowed by the food for the cost. read more

First, I was given a catering menu instead of a decent hand held menu because I've got vision problems, and I couldn't see their menu board, and their selections are a joke. They also don't give you a decent amount of food for the prices that they charge. The meat is to salty, and it also has to much pepper and seasoning. The cornbread is very dry, and you're not even given any butter for it, plus they put sugar in it! You don't put sugar in cornbread because then it's cake. The macaroni and cheese is also very bland. They're also not set up for someone in a wheelchair because there wasn't enough room to get my wheelchair by, and the seating selection was pitiful. My husband can go here by himself because I wasn't impressed at all. read more

We came here for the Veterans Day special and received a free sandwich!!! As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the staff who welcomed us in. Our cashier was Xavier who was super nice and a pleasure to speak with. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was piled high with delicious pork! I also ordered collard greens and a sweet tea. They have several sauces to choose from on the table. The restaurant is clean and filled with pictures of service members, patches, police, and firemen. Everything was delicious and everyone was polite, friendly, and they thanked us for our service!!!! Thank you for an amazing free sandwich on Veterans Day!!! Pretty good food! Service was very attentive and they come check on you multiple times. I went for lunch on a Friday about 115 decent crowd. We ordered 2 meat combo, brisket and baby back ribs, 3 sides to try ( cheesy potatoes, Mac and cheese and baked beans) with a complimentary corn bread. They have a bunch of bbq sauces and a white "Alabama white " sauce that goes on pretty tasty. A good place for kids as I had my 18 month old and he loves it! Will be back. read more
